Just finished my 5k in memory of my Mom...today would have been her 92nd birthday. I know she's smiling down on me...this is the third 5k I've done but the first one done all in one stint...3.15 miles, 70 minutes, 708 calories burned! Felt AMAZING!!! I've included a few pictures in the spoiler below.
Special thanks to @izzyred9400 who joined me virtually and walked as well!!! You are such a sweetheart to keep me motivated and moving!!

Lost another pound, so I have lost about 5 pounds since Christmas. I am so happy with my progress.10 -

It's been a lot easier to lose weight each week since I've cut out unnecessary calories from sweets and alcohol. With lifting weights more, this will be a slow transition in terms of pounds lost, but I should see more of a body fat reduction and waist inches. In fact, I'm fitting back into size 34 jeans, which feels good.9 -

My goal was to be at 225 by end of January. Doesn't look like I'm going to make that but I'm hoping it's close.
I have noticed that people in general interact with me differently. For example - I was given a free sample of high end face cream at Macy's last week. I have been buying this same brand make up for years and have never been given any free samples... much less one of their more expensive items. Also - last Friday night I went to meet some friends out. I was walking up to the door of the bar and a man sitting on the bench outside smoking with a friend deliberately stood up, opened the door for me and then went to sit back with his buddy on the bench. Again... never happened to me before. I was telling a friend of mine that it made me a little sad to know that people treat overweight people so differently. My friend said "Maybe it's the change in your self-confidence that causes people to interact with you differently." I love my friend!10 -

Aww what a good friend, and she might be right. I mean I have noticed that over weight people are treated different, but like for me, when I lose weight, my confidence goes up and I feel like Im treated differently also, and I have never been real big.4 -

Slow, but I’ll take it. I actually did some meal prep this week, and made a pretty time-consuming but delicious breakfast casserole. I I need to take the leftovers and freeze them. We are expecting beautiful weather in the upper 60s this weekend so I bought some ground beef and chicken tenders to grill. It’s been helpful to have it all cooked at once, even though I grumble about the meal prep. I feel like my sugar cravings has slowed down a bit, though not entirely gone yet.
I’m hoping to play in my craft room this weekend, but I always have a lot of “shouldas” that eat up my time. Tax data is starting to arrive and I’m planning on next week being desk week, with bills and tax prep and other paperwork on the agenda.

Yeah, I’ll take it. We’ll see what happens next week, though. I had a major sushi feast yesterday and last time I had sushi I was up for several days, and it definitely reflected on my trendweight. Yesterday was a prime example of what happens when three very hungry people start ordering a dinner delivery and also have a large gift card for the delivery service. I also have a sushi date agreed for next Thursday.7 -

@CasandraW yes it is annoying but don't be too hard on yourself it's only just under 2lbs & a loss.Your'e doing great !!

@pupowl Thanks for your kind words! It was a lot of fun and knowing @izzyred9400 was walking with me really helped, plus I was getting support from my good friend next door as well. I posted it on facebook afterward and many of my family were chiming in with praise! It was a great way to honor my Mom, who was always my biggest fan in life. I miss her so much, but I know this made her happy to see me continuing this journey to getting healthier.
I was surprised that it was easier than I expected, but I certainly felt it about two hours later and overnight whenever I would get up and moving around! This morning though, I was fine, so I know I prepared well for it throughout January. February is a shorter month, so in setting my "intentional walking" goals for the month, I'm thinking 38 miles sounds good. Hopefully I can meet it in 28 days. Feb 1st is my birthday so starting off with a solid walking plan seems like a great present to myself!
This Nor'easter is no joke! It looks like a blowing Hallmark card again outside my window after getting rid of the previous 6 inches we got LAST Saturday...this is highly unusual for coastal Virginia. I'm glad I'm on vacation and don't have the need to go out. I'm praying for the folks in NY, Boston and other parts of New England...they're getting slammed with it...anyone else in those areas that still has power, give us a report that you're all doing ok please!

Now taking sign ups for our monthly Step Challenge. Simply post a message here asking to join, include your first name for the chart, set a daily step goal you'd like to reach AND tell me your current favorite place to walk. That's all that's needed! Then, every 1-3 days, post your steps icluding the date so there's no confusion and I'll keep the chart updated.
At the end of each month, I will post the step winner for each week and the overall top three for the month! It's a nice way to have a friendly competition going and keeps us all motivated to keep it moving!

I already finished my workout for today, but then found this one that's a walking workout, with a timer, shows number of steps and seems to be simple...love Whitney Houston, so looking forward to this one! Thought I'd share:
