It’s felt like a couple rocky weeks with a lot of stress, yet today my mental health therapist reassured me that I am managing my anxiety well, and I think at least part of it has to do with building routines. It seemed like a lot of changes were thrown my way at work today, and they were all manageable.
30 Day Spring Challenge, Day 17 (3/7):
1. Get up right away ✖
2. Drink a glass of water as soon as I get up ✅
3. Eat breakfast ✅
4. Take supplements and brush teeth ✅
5. 5 minutes of meditation ✅
6. Exercise ✖
7. Take a shower ✅

My Spring Challenge commitment is:
1) Read for 30 minutes a day or use my Scroll Saw - Do not pass Go, do not collect $200
2) Move at least 30 minutes a day or walk 3000 steps - 2532 steps so far today.
3) Weigh everyday - 169.3
My husband's helper quit recently. He's having to do extra work and finding lots of mistakes the helper left behind and did not take care of. It's causing me added stress. I am not coping very well; I'm staying on track but mentally I'm not doing so well. I can tell because I'm behind on my steps and I'm having anxiety. It is what it is, I'm just hoping that he can get it sorted out sooner than later. I had to leave myself some wiggle room in my food diary today so I can have frosted animal cookies tonight.1 -
@Cornanda She's cheating me out of some money, I wasn't going to let it be $800, I don't know how I'm going to act friendly, I'm one of those people who suck at being nice to people I don't care for. Wow, Spring break seems early, glad the family will be home. What kind of challenge are you thinking of?
@annflaherty1 Way to go on knocking out the walks! Sorry to hear you had a tough day, I struggle more when tired too. Hope today is better!
@trooworld An art opening sounds fun! Cool painting, I like the colors you used! Sounds like your Sunday was the perfect relaxing day with your husband, pup, and art.
@TeresaW1020 Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear about Joe fainting and fracturing a bone. I hope the blood pressure medication helps. You two have definitely been through a lot, time for some smooth sailing! Before I forget the dishwashing soap didn't work in the gnats on my seedlings, I went and picked up Neem oil which should do the job but there's a lot, I'll let you know how it goes.
@walela617 Have a great week Carole, I hope the gain comes off fast!
@tammymccrady6278 @Glombog @walela617 Way to go team!
@Glombog Your daughter is beautiful! I hope the interview goes well for your wife.
@fatfifties Woohoo on a week without knee pain! So glad you've been able to up your walking, I know it's scary adding things back in so that's a huge success! Oh no, that really sucks about your phone! You didn't just drop it in water for a second, you drowned it with 50 laps, yikes!
@FUP_B_Gone Oh no, hope that pound comes off fast!
@vegan4lyfe2012 Way to go on the drop! Glad you're doing so well on the diet and sticking to it, that's wonderful!
@bgame4 I'm glad to hear you're doing better than you think coping with anxiety, it helps a lot to hear a professional say you're doing well.
@FushiaKat I hope your husband is able to find a new helper soon. I hope you're able to walk more tomorrow, it may be just what you need.
Hi everyone, happy Monday night! Not much to report, I worked out then watered at the greenhouse, managed to get a month prescription on my pain medication (thought I'd fill it every week again I don't think so stupid insurance, beat you again!) then went to Ace Hardware (totally guilty of buying more seeds, I told myself I used to spend $5 on cigarettes what's $4 on a packet of pepper seeds that can make 20 plants compared to my old habit right?) then Starbucks to try their new Vanilla Oatmilk shaken espresso. The Grande is more expensive than the Venti used to be, that was a huge jump in price, I think I'll protest and just drink coffee at home for now on. Sunday I went out for my Mom's birthday and we went to Texas Roadhouse, I ate way too much sugar and felt awful this morning but my workout helped. Have an amazing Tuesday everyone!

Just took some progression photos. Since Jan 3rd. 29.5 lbs and 5.5 inches gone from my waist.
Target is another 40 lbs and 8 more inches.

@trooworld that packaging alone would convince me buy it lol.3

Greetings All!
It's a rainy day in Georgia but it's a good day! I didn't make it to the gym this morning because I volunteered to go into one of the local elementary school and judge their literacy projects. There were some very creative projects from Pete the Cat to Pinkalicious! I judged Pre-K through second grade projects.
I then went to the funeral of a precious lady from the community. The preacher said she knew how to love and she did it "right." She has so many accolades and three beautiful daughters who are in "service" fields. It's such a blessing to be in the land of the living and to be able to give back to others.
Let's go get it!2 -

After a bit of procrastination, I did go to the gym and burned 215 calories. I always feel better after.
Glad to see so many of you progressing towards your goals. You are so inspiring. 🌞🌞🌞4 -
@trooworld Thanks for the encouragement. Some of my goals are quite “easy”, but some days I just need the reminder that I did something!
@Katmary71 Thanks!
I just realized that I am almost ⅔ of the way through this challenge and Spring is nearly here!

Hi. Not much going on around here. I did some stress eating yesterday and I'm not proud of myself. I'm planning what I'm going to do to challenge myself for the until the beginning of May when my events are scheduled. I did measurements, printed some calendars for tracking things, and chose an exercise video program to follow. I'll finish up today and then I'm ready to get started.

Had to work at home, when my daughter had slight fever yesterday, and I had all sorts of cravings😂actually first time since I started, so not too bad..
Tried to fix with different stuff that use to work, but felt like that the whole day, so went a bit over.
Can’t complain though.
Back on track today. Just done my workout (and felt great, probably do to the rating yesterday).

Good workout yesterday. Today, the damp weather is wreaking havoc with my hips. Dr ordered an injection at the SI joint. Hopefully, it will help.
Question: has anyone taken supplements to combat candida in the body? My daughter went to a nutritionist/nurse practitioner who advised she take supplements specific to this issue. She said that years of eating carbs, sugar, and taking antibiotics can build up an overflow of candida in the gut, creating a difficult time with weight loss. My daughter has been following the plan provided to her and has lost 10.5 lbs in two weeks.
Candida also causes inflammation in the joints.
Going to sprouts this week and will look into supplements specific to reducing candida in the body. I’ll let you know what I find out.0 -

My Spring Challenge commitment is:
1) Read for 30 minutes a day or use my Scroll Saw - I read today, finished the book, started another.
2) Move at least 30 minutes a day or walk 3000 steps - 2987 steps so far today. Still time to get in those last few steps.
3) Weigh everyday - I forgot to weigh
Today I had a NSV I picked out a blouse that I saved that was too small for me. Today it fits perfectly. My husband asked me if I wanted money for new clothes, I told him no, to wait till I lose 25 lbs. more. I'm so close to my goal weight, I added an extra 5 lbs. I want to weigh between 135 - 145, 25 lbs. will put me at 140. I should still reach my goal weight by August of this year. I'm going to look so good for the holidays and our anniversary in December too!! I'm having Taco Salad tomorrow; I think I will call it Taco Salad Thursday and eat it every week on Thursday.
@Cornanda Don't be too hard on yourself. It sounds like you've put lots of plans in place to help you move forward. I believe in you! You got this weight loss stuff in the bag!! Remember to put things in place to help you on those rough days, some go to foods. I use pickles and sugar free candies when I just can't take it anymore.0 -

@FushiaKat – Congrats on the NSV! That is a great feeling, isn’t it?!?
Hey, all! I screwed up yesterday…daughter and I went to see Death on the Nile (loved it, btw) and I was hungry. I was only going to have popcorn, but we saw those delicious soft pretzels and we both gave in. It was still within my calories, but definitely not an unprocessed food item. But, No Zero Days, right? I kept to my no soda challenge and bought 3 bottles of water instead (movie is 2+ hours). I did end up eating a little more food in the evening (hummus and carrots), so I ended my day over calories, but I’m ok with it. Still within maintenance
Enjoying a late lunch right now (lots of meetings today) of a baked tater with nooch, some baby carrots and a spinach/spring mix salad with my home made vinaigrette (Basil Leaf EVOO and Peach Balsamic Vinegar). I adore my local purveyor of EVOOs and Balsamics…I can make so many awesome combinations!
Have a lovely day and eat (or drink) your veggies!

Hey Team! I'm just doing a quick check-in to let you know that I'm still hanging in there. Joe is slowly healing from his broken shoulder. He also badly hurt his knee which makes it hard for him to get around. The mornings are especially difficult. Tomorrow we go for round two of chemo and I'm really praying that his body handles it all. Work has suddenly gotten very busy because Easter is next month and along with a few other events, I've been given a ton of extra tasks to get done ASAP. My diet is so so and I'm honestly just trying to do the best I can. I have had some good workouts this week, which are really good for my stress level more than anything else. I will try to check in with you all again soon.4

My Spring Challenge commitment is:
1) Read for 30 minutes a day or use my Scroll Saw - I will read tonight. I'm reading "The Institute" by Stephen King. I like it so far.
2) Move at least 30 minutes a day or walk 3000 steps - 3673 steps so far today.
3) Weigh everyday - 167.0
Has anybody read the George and Martha Childrens book(s)? It's pretty cute my friend Kendra gifted it to me for my birthday along with a daily affirmation book. I'm not too keen on the daily affirmations, they are jumbled up poetry. Some make sense and most don't.
Wooo I found the Yasso Vanilla Sea Salt Caramel yogurt bar today and I bought 2 boxes. I can't wait to try it tonight. Smoked Paprika is in short supply my market has been out for 2 months, I found some at 2 other markets today and I bought 4 jars. Gas is $5.60 a gallon. I'm trying to stay stocked up on most items, I might need to go to Costco this weekend.
@TeresaW1020 I'm wishing Joe all the best, I hope he does well with his Chemo tomorrow. Poor guy just can't get a break. Maybe you should eat within maintenance for a while. You got a lot going on.
@vegan4lyfe2012 Basil Leaf EVOO and Peach Balsamic Vinegar, sounds scrumptious.0 -
Hey gang, I'll catch up tomorrow, I was adding something to the very end of my post and everything was just deleted, after an hour of catching up I'm really irritated at my laptop, it deleted everything and won't let me undo it. Sorry!
@annflaherty1 You may want to check out The Yeast Connection, I read it around 1990 and it was very popular, I don't know how it's stood up over time but I did it back then but was trying a lot of stuff at once and don't know what did and didn't help.
@Glombog Those are amazing before and after photos!
@TeresaW1020 Praying for tomorrow for Joe, hang in there my friend.0 -

This week has been odd. Still a bit of drama, but much less than last week. Yet I ate more. (Darn triscuits!) Also, you know how when you plan to tighten things up, you get a bit of "what the h-ll" mentality.... Like- I'll just eat this one thing now before I start the challenge and then I'll be really good. I think that crept in too.
I plan to start the challenge on Monday. I'm NOT going to binge all weekend. It probably will be sort of a soft start since the kids will be here for Spring Break and I have to feed them up a bit while they are here for Mom's cooking. I won't go crazy though.
I've found an exercise plan. I'm going to add an extra day a week of exercise, and change my walks to run/walks. Even with next week being so/so that gives me 6 weeks before the upcoming events, so we'll see what progress I can make.
I'm not going to beat myself up if it doesn't work out. The effort is what counts.
@TeresaW1020 - thinking of you and praying for you and Joe.

So odd, last week was a gain, this week a loss, felt like I did exactly the same stuff. I'll take this week over last week though!4 -
@FushiaKat Let us know how you like the Vanilla Sea Salt Caramel bars! I enjoyed The Institute, it was the first Stephen King I'd read in awhile and it reminded me of a few of his others but not in a way that took away from it.
@Cornanda I definitely know what you mean, like you're having a last hurrah before you crack down again. Have a great weekend!
@gwamajtw91 Some weeks are like that, doesn't always make a lot of sense.
I downloaded a new document program so I can save what I'm responding to, my school Microsoft account expired so I've been unable to use it and that's why I keep losing stuff! I'm trying increasing the anti depressant I take for nerve pain and it's making me super drowsy but it helps so I'm going to play with it a bit and see if the tiredness dies down. I've been waking up a little earlier to get my workouts done in case my nephew needs me but he's been good the last few days. Not much else going on, have an HOA board meeting in the morning so I'll get up and work out before that and head over. Have a great weekend everyone!1
