@micki48 Hope all goes smoothly with the arrival of the truck tomorrow
@Kali225 Way to go on kicking that toxic workplace to the curb. Glad to hear you've got a month to focus on Y-O-U coming up

@DD265 Great suggestion. I didn't feel up to much at all.. but I think when I do get back to movement I'll be easing in and that will be a great way to do it.
One of the weirder symptoms I'm having that I'm not used to is some vertigo issues... so that's making any movement at all unpleasant as I don't feel super stable.
Hoping to be turning the corner soon6 -

Apologies for double posting - I put the stats in quickly before going out and it's too late to edit now.
We haven't air fryer-ed vegetables either - usually just chips, or a chicken dish, and OH tried battered fish once but that didn't end well! Side dishes are definitely a struggle for us, which is why I think we so often reach for the carbs, and making something lower calorie in the air fryer would be great. I did buy an air fryer recipe book not too long ago but haven't been through it yet.
I'm pleased with my loss this week and feel like I earned it, which is always satisfying. I did indeed get a 10K done yesterday, and whilst it was a bit of a slog at points and my nervous system was completely fatigued by the end, it wasn't too hard. We only stopped once for a few seconds waiting to cross a road and did a couple of serious hills - we were running those regularly last year, but it has been a while. This 10k also came in at my second best time (the best being the race last Autumn) so I'm really happy with that. I've had a mental boost, and the longer distance will allow us to do some more interesting runs as we get lighter nights and better weather.
Plan for this week is more of the same! Maybe a little less running, as we're out all day Friday and Sunday, so will have to see what fits in. That also probably means more meals out, but I'll stick to my 5 goals where I can.5 -
Does anyone have any advice for body dysmorphia? I was feeling okay about myself and then my gym posted a video to their Instagram, in which I make an appearance. And now I'm discouraged and disgusted (there are other things contributing to this though). I don't know how to shake these thoughts4

Hoo boy! This is a big one. I swear I can put on a half pound and feel as if I am 25 pounds heavier, grosser, everything horrible. If I look at myself, I don't really agree that I look the same. Then if I eat well and use my muscles so I feel a bit hungry and strong, it goes away and I think I look fine. I don't think this will ever go away completely.
So first of all - you were feeling good about yourself because you were working out and taking care of your intake. And that feeling is TRUE! Second of all - cameras are evil and everyone looks bad to themselves at the moment. Come back to that same photo in the future and it probably won't bother you. You'll think you were looking pretty good! AND you were working on making it even better by being in the gym.
Somewhere deep in a drawer I have a picture of myself tightening the girth of a horse I was about to ride. Someone took the picture from directly behind me. I was wearing riding breeches (no hiding in those!) and in a slight squat, at a slightly awkward angle. That photo depressed me for years, even though it was quickly buried and I refused to look at it again. A couple of years ago I found it, and was amazed that I ever thought it was terrible. Sure, I was a bit rounder than I would have liked, but it was certainly not terrible and it is actually a good photo - in action, as it were.
There will always be photos of ourselves we hate. But we can feel good inside at any point in the journey towards better fitness and health - use your body, keep improving however slowly. Remember the feeling you had when someone took that photo - that is the truth. It is hard to convince ourselves, but don't let it stop you in your tracks. You felt good. You felt good. You were working out. Remember.
It also helps to think about the way you look at other people. If they are working on the journey the way you are, don't you feel like cheering them on? They are amazing for being there, even though you just know their inside feelings might be just as fragile as yours are. Well, they are cheering you on. We are cheering you on. Go Kellie!8 -
@jugar thank you for your insights, I really appreciate them!2

@PlaneMonkey So far all I've air fried are green beans and carrot chips, and both turned out lovely.
I use a teaspoon of olive oil and a healthy dash of steak spice and fry for 7 minutes at 355. Perfectly delish.
This week is an experiment. I'm going to exercise at least 30 minutes every day except Tuesday and eat veggies with dinner every day except Wednesday. Just to see how I feel by the end of the week and try for a mental reboot of sorts. This probably isn't sustainable long term but that's not the point.
Today I really didn't wanna work out because I was so tired, but I did. And that's a good start.4 -

Carrot chips sounds amazing! It's going on the grocery list!2 -
@Terytha I love your plan! Mind you, I'm not sure what a dinner without veggies might even look like -- to the point where my son calls me "Kale". Because I am what I eat. He's a brat.
OK folks! It's time for the Tuesday weigh-in and some catch-up from yesterday and today -

I knew it would be a gain today. Like I discussed with other MFP members, I had some vegan cheese I didn’t want to expire and made lasagna and pizza. Both use rice flour which is high in calories along with the cheese. I did not complete the calculations until after eating. One piece of lasagna is 455 calories. The pizza was also more than 400 calories a slice. So glad I’m in this challenge on MFP to see the effects of what we eat and our lifestyle in detail on how it effects our progress. I have some major work this week to see a loss for next weigh-in. Wish me luck💫
This is a great attitude! All the numbers are information - even if we figure out that they are "bad". You know better how to make this week work - plenty of vegetables, try to avoid the flours and other refined stuff, keep up your healthy fats and protein. Go for it!
@jugar
Great advice, thanks! I bought two heads of cabbage and two heads of cauliflowers today. Cauliflower rice dishes and cabbage salads.
I need to stay away from the flour. I like to cook, so I’ve been tempted to try many things and that’s a challenge when trying to lose weight. That’s what got me in trouble with the lasagna and pizza, lol. I was going to attempt to make vegan low carb doughnut holes tomorrow. I might have to wait after making some considerable loss 🙃4 -
@eggfreak So glad your mom is improving! That has to be a huge weight off your shoulders!
@micki48 Glad you made it to your destination and good news for your sister. Glad they caught it early.
@jugar Sorry you are in snow purgatory! That is my least favorite smushy, gushy season for sure. We are just starting to come out of it here.
@ashleycarole86 My daughter definitely had dizziness with covid. It took all of us awhile to get our energy back after being sick. I know it probably feels like you've been out of your routine forever. The time will pass and you will be back at it in no time.
@Kali225 Glad you are nearly a free woman! I think quitting a job that's a bad fit can be really empowering! Enjoy
My darn refrigerator broke on Sunday. Luckily I picked a new one out the day before it broke. The new one won't arrive until the 30th. I have a tiny mini fridge. My old fridge is a little bit cold so I am keeping veggies in it. The kale survived the winter so I at least have that to fall back on. Eating is going to be different this week!
I swear my husband doesn't work at a school because it must be a soap opera! He will definitely be getting his job back. He met with the union president today and found out the principal never got approval from HR and the superintendent for his job role change. The principal lied to my husband and the other teacher about the approval. I guess the superintendent is really mad my husband was moved. My husband was SHOCKED 😲. He's probably in for an interesting week but a happy ending!
I ordered new running shoes and plan to do a running program for the month of April. I have just been a little disappointed in my cardio performance and would like to see a dramatic improvement. Hiking season will be here soon!
@kellie_erin I go in cycles of not being bothered by pictures and being really bothered. I think for myself, in my head, I blend my physical self and my mental vision of myself. I'm generally pretty optimistic about how great I am and a lot of my personality traits contribute to that image. I'm kind, I work hard, I give my time to help others etc. Sometimes when I see pictures I don't like, it feels like it tears the two sides of me apart and the physical self doesn't always stand alone as well as the whole package. I try to take a deep breath and in my head I tell myself: "Hey, that's me and that's what I look like right now. I love myself and I am always changing and that's okay" It doesn't always help but the more I say it, the more it sinks in.6 -
Hi,
I am sorry for weighing in late. I think it’s better that my weigh in date is expected Mondays.
Pw 105 kg
Cw 103.5 kg
I have had a good week…went a bit overboard on the weekend and actually gained a kg back. Hoping to loose that this week. I am on keto so expecting big whooshes and gains on the journey. I’ll just drink a lot of water and keep calories and carbs low this week4 -
Tuesday Weigh-in
CW: 244.8
And I bounce right back up. At this point, I am basically not dieting and not counting calories! I can start the day fine but lose all concentration & motivation by lunch or 1-2pm. And my binges are so damaging. Ugh. Trying to face the music and focus on April, which should be a really good opportunity to restart and work on my habits (good AND bad).
@conleywoods broken fridge!!! what a bummer but at least something new is on the way. And the drama at your husband's job continues! I'm glued to the story.
@kellie_erin body dysmorphia is so difficult. Almost the same thing happened to me this summer, I went to an outdoor workout class and afterwards they posted some pictures on instagram and I knew I wasn't where I wanted to be but I was proud that I went to class... then I saw myself on the side of one pic, from behind, mid "fast feet". Oh boy. Cue spiral. I put my phone away. But I second @jugar 's excellent response.6 -
Random fact: I damaged my left hip when I was 15 by taking a dramatic dive off a galloping horse into a bush. Sometimes it still aches randomly. Like today.
Tonight is likely to be less exercise and more stretching/rolling I think. =P
Tomorrow's dinner is bacon and eggs and I can't think of any veggies I'd want to eat as a side that wouldn't be weird.4 -
Thanks @conleywoods for the kind words.
@bowens1973 just tested positive today. It was a good run.... we were keeping to separate bedrooms and bathrooms, masking up and staying apart, everything we could to avoid him getting it too... but no such luck.
Last call for any outstanding step reports for Mar 13-19 please before I issue our results3 -

@Terytha I second the sliced tomatoes! First thing that came to my mind as well2

Ack! I knew, just knew someone would say tomatoes. I loathe tomatoes. They are just. Way too gross for me, guys. So slimy and the taste is just. No.
Aside from green beans, carrots and asparagus, there's not much I'll eat tbh. Very picky eaters in this house.1 -
We all send @Terytha tomatoes! Spinach too - just lightly "wilted" and well seasoned however you think best. Fruit goes well too - sliced oranges, pineapple - whatever is good and fresh. Hard at this time of year
@conleywoods - Your husband works at a soap opera - brilliant! That sums up the crazy situation for sure. Have fun running and getting ready for hiking season - yes!!
@Kali225 don't wait for April - putting off gets to be kind of perpetual sometimes... Pick a tiny habit or something you can really concentrate on. I like the method from the book Tiny Habits by BJ Fogg. The small habit gets anchored to something you always do anyhow, and gets an immediate reward. There are lots of books and sites about the small habit thing, and it might be a good way not to try to start something huge and all-encompassing at some later date. That tends to work for a short time and then feel too overwhelming. For now, 1 "perfect" meal per day? Or log lunch (and only lunch)? I'm sure you can come up with one. Hang in there!
@Terytha I have aches where I broke my collarbone in a dramatic horse fall. The horse fell!! We were galloping! We were both ok, but the aches remain from time to time. Danged horses
@graceojo999 you are now a Monday person! Great week!4
