It's been a rough week 😢5 -
OK, I found out what I was doing wrong and I'm now able to post here.
Tuesday Weigh-in:
PW: 241.4
CW: 241.8
My main goal is to get my A1C into normal range. I tend to go way overboard on carbs and my PCP is threatening to send me to a specialist if I don't get it in control. I have nothing against specialists, but I really like interacting my PCP. I have come to realize that a big part of my problem is basic denial. I'm on meds and I have been fooling myself into thinking that I can just eat anything. WRONG. I work in health care and really know better.
I've been logging my meals and trying to increase my exercise. I'm taking it one day at a time and giving my self pep talks along the way.
If you want to, please tell us some more about yourself! Where you are, maybe your first name, what you enjoy, anything at all is interesting and helps us get a kind of picture of each other. We try to start every month with a re-introduction, and then the new people can get some idea of what you're getting into! Go ahead back and read the first pages of the month, and you'll "meet" many of the team members, old and new.Got my hill walk done. Foot is doing well. I jumped back into Yoga with Adriene's monthly schedule with the June calendar today. I'm not going to tell myself that I have to do every single video (I put yoga 3x/wk in the Habit Tracker after all) but today's video was great. Still plenty of reminders that I am not in the shape I was last year, but hey. This is how I rebuild. I'm going to do one of my all-time favorite FitOn workouts today called Core Barre.
The big challenge this week comes tonight - I'm doing takeout and pushing myself to separate everything in half when I pick it up and store it in the fridge for lunches Thurs/Fri before I sit down to eat the rest. I've logged it, it won't be killer, but it will be tasty -- this is that "balance" thing people are always talking about!
Go Kay! That's the kind of planning and thinking that will get the weight going in the good direction again. I'm so glad your foot is feeling better - keep taking good care of it, and hopefully you'll be able to continue to increase your pace and distance gradually. And we'll pester each other on the habit tracker, OK? If you see me missing things, put on a comment! I'll do the sameIt's been a rough week 😢
I'm so sorry Hannah! Come hang out if you have a bit of time - I hope things ease up soon. Take good care of yourself - we're sending you hugs.2 -
@jugar yes! please be on my back about the habits. as you can see in last month's sheet, the "log everything" line got suspiciously quiet...
dinner tonight was a total victory. I did exactly as I said I would, and this is honestly the first time in a long time that I got takeout for dinner and didn't feel overstuffed by the end of the night. Hunger cues, I am trying to embrace you again!3 -
Here is a bit about me. My name is Jean, and I live in New England. I enjoy knitting, reading, and being outdoors. I enjoy watching birds and animals that visit our yard. I take a few pictures as well.
Today I logged everything I ate and drank. I manage 20 minutes of walking between random downpours.7 -
My name is Lauren, I am 36 years old and live in NC. I have been trying to lose weight for years and have been in the same yo yo boat as others.
This week has been especially hard. I had friends come visit from out of state for the weekend, amd while we walked 3 miles everyday, we also got ice cream, cupcakes, and went out to eat. On top of it, I got a really bad case of poison ivy, ended up on steroids which I was hoping to avoid, and am eating everything in sight. I am not looking forward to my weigh in on Saturday 😳
But my sister is coming to visit tomorrow through Sunday. I hope I don't have too much a repeat of last weekend, and my prednisone should be ending in several days. I am looking forward to seeing my sister!6 -
Hi folks I'm ecstatic - I got in 2,367 more steps in yesterday going to the football game. Because of my hips I am somewhat limited to what kind of exercise I can do so today I completed a 20 minute seated upper body workout.6
-
@kali225 OK, you're on. We're each other's habit tracking pests and naggers. I almost always sag after the first week or 2, so this will help a lot! And well, well done on the takeout dinner. A triumph, for sure
@JEB03253 Thanks for the intro! There are a few other New Englanders - 2 in Boston area, 1 in Vermont (my sister!) and I'm not too far above the border in Québec. You'll definitely be in good company watching the little animals and birds - as long as I can send my devilish groundhogs down your way, OK?
@lauren_989 I'm so sorry to hear about your poison ivy. That stuff is seriously nasty! If you have a bad weigh-in this week, don't worry - once you're off the prednisone and stepping away from the cupcakes it will all improve fast. Get your sister to help you stay on track. Sugar makes you itch more, did you know?
@CarolAnnM2 great job on the steps and workout!3 -

I forgot to start my watch during my second hockey game tonight. 😔 I wanted to see just how much slower I played the second time around when I was running on fumes and caffeine supplements!! 😂
Its been a rough few days but I managed to not overeat as I grazed my way through all the events and renos. There were some minor setbacks during our dock rebuild this week so we aren't finished yet, but it's in place on the shore and just needs the top boards installed before we can bring the boat home from the neighbours. That will have to wait until Saturday as I'm back at work tomorrow. Our 'team charters' for our hybrid work arrangements are to be discussed so that will be interesting. It's not looking good, and I might start shopping around for something different if it goes too far to the 'show up at the office 3 days or more per week for no reason' side of things. The current hints are they want us to sign an agreement that we will come in a minimum of 3 days a week in order to save our reserved desks, but then just not show up that often as it's at our managers discretion..... Which #1 isn't fair to the people who DO want to come in that often and don't get dedicated cubicles and have to use lockers like at the gym... And #2 I don't like signing anything that could potentially lock me into a commitment I can't abide. The chief wants 'collaboration' and team building. I want to not be cranky, broke, and short on time from the commute. Who's going to win this one? Likely nobody.
*sigh*
No matter what, more cheese and crackers won't make it go away so I will keep drinking water and waiting for more info....
Now to see if I will sleep at all after the extra caffeine to keep me going at hockey!

@PlaneMonkey I feel for you for sure. We have changed as a result of the last few years and it's hard to convince a workforce to return to office when it's such a drag on work/life balance, especially when you are clearly speaking as someone who can do her job effectively from home.
Employee retention in this transition is a huge issue - I think if companies can't be flexible their people are definitely going to be evaluating their options (like you might be). Hope it works out.
If my management cancels the hybrid model, I'm sure I'll have staff leave.4 -
@PlaneMonkey That sounds like a rough deal at work! Work stress is no fun and I really despise feeling like I am wasting my time. I hope they figure it out.
My work is dealing with a mass exodus right now. 50% of our special ed teachers have new jobs or are in the process of transferring to new positions. A good portion of our general ed teachers are looking or have a new job. There are a lot of rumors and the other occupational therapists and I were starting to really stress. We decided to arrange a meeting with the boss and turned out the rumors weren't true. We also found out our teachers who are difficult to work with are really worried we don't think they are doing a good job. We thought they didn't like us and seemed so annoyed we were in there rooms. Why are people so complicated. My husband's favorite song lately is called Life is Confusing and People are Insane. Ha!
On a happier note my oldest daughter is 13 today! She was talking to my dad on the phone and he thought we were playing a trick on him because we sound the same. Made good choices at the party. Picked up take out for everyone and I have some frozen sweet potatoe waffle fries and air fryer nuggets that I put in the air fryer. I didn't feel left out and only had a bite of cake. Luckily I'm not very into chocolate cake.6 -
Good morning all! Sylvia here, south of Boston, 53, irritated as hell that 95% of my summer clothes don't fit. Weight swings my whole life and got to a good place 2yrs ago but, especially in the last half year, it's crept (quickly) up. Lots of stressors in my life at the moment...not a minute that I don't think...what task can I do next? Can't promise that this month will be any better than last month but I am going to pay more attention to my intake AND check in here as often as I can.

Well, I met my criteria to move to maintenance (two consecutive weeks in the range), so @jugar I'd officially like to do that. My range will be 160-165. Thank you!6 -

Well, I made it to the next decade. I'm going to do my best to stay here and not rebound. I'm back at my desk, back to logging, and conscious of portion sizes.
We got this!!7 -

It is moving so slowly. I feel like I am putting in a lot of work for those few ounces. Oh we. I know I am doing all the things. Yesterday was a planned a rest day. I cleaned the house and went to the store. I had my steps, but decided to take the dog for a walk last night because it was a cool evening. Mabel decided to go with me. It was a very slow, but nice mile walk. I was surprised she did it.
@conleywoods that is so stressful. Last year, we lost half of our staff because of the Principal. This year, the Principal resigned. She is taking a break from education. The SEIL, who was not great, is also leaving. I really hope we get a good one because we have crazy high caseloads next year. I love when the SLP and OT push in. The SLP I have worked with for several years, who happens to be my dear friend, is leaving to be a SEIL at the Preschool. I hate change.
@Ashleycarole86 Nice work staying in maintenance for 2 weeks AND after a vacation!!!
@planemonkey Sorry about the work stress. I hope they figure out a fair way to handle it. Great job getting into the 180s!!!!4 -
Hi all... So yesterday, was a failure... but today will be a good day...
6 -
Thanks @KellyBgetsfit .. just held on but proud I did!
Bummer your weight loss feels like a slow grind for all the work being put in, but great loss this week.
@Gidgitgoescrazy Reset time for sure! Keep checking in ... you'll get it!
@PlaneMonkey Hope the first day back goes well. Congrats on hitting the 180's! You are in the zone.
@eggfreak Nice to hear from you Sylvia, sorry to hear the stress of life is overwhelming right now.. we'll be here for you whenever you can check in with us
@conleywoods Happy birthday to your eldest - teenage years!! How exciting. Sounds like you had a good night.1 -

Happy Thursday!
Congratulations @ashleycarole86 for hitting that 2 week maintenance streak! I'm glad you're now down there in that part of the spreadsheet... It was looking kind of empty I promise I'll be back there soon! I have been back under my top weight, and today was right on it, so I need to finish this month under before I'll get back down there. In any case, rock that tiara!!!
@Gidgitgoescrazy and others who are struggling - a day is not a failure! I just read an excellent blog post with a good suggestion for vocabulary/mindset adjustment. Don't call them goals, call them experiments. Scientists expect failures - you try things, they don't work. Sometimes you have to replicate that (more than once!), but seeing the trip to a result as a series of experiments is positive. Sticking with the stuff that we discover works is hard, but this at least takes some of the sting out of the setbacks. Hugs help too
I'm trying to get going and do things. Sitting here is not helping, so2 -
@PlaneMonkey congrats on the next decade!!!
For @KellyBgetsfit and @ashleycarole86 a loss is a loss, and maintenance is maintenance!
I somewhat forgot that I made plans weeks ago with a friend who will be in town to get brunch this Saturday. I feel like I am getting in a good groove here and don't want a big meal out to mess it up. definitely feeling anxiety about it, so I'm frantically searching through menus for things along the lines of a breakfast salad (is that a thing??) or a hash of some kind. I know I have to plan ahead and be prepared. It's also very short on time to even find a reservation. Eeek!
Otherwise, feeling deliciously sore in my obliques from yesterday's core workout.4 -
Non scale victory here. The building I work in is getting a new roof. Parking is nearly nonexistant so I ordered lunch to be delivered. They delivered a Coke rather than a Coke Zero along with the food. The last time that happened I drank it. This time I gave it away. That 20 ounce bottle had 65 grams of carbs!
@jugar I'm in New Hampshire. And no please don't send your groundhog to me!5 -
Hi everyone! Michele here. I’m sick for the second time on two weeks after no sickness for two years. Ugh. I’ve tested negative once for COVID, so it’s likely a bad upper respiratory that has me, my hubby, and Juliet feeling pretty low. Not much to report just hanging on. Be back soon I hope6
-
I love my Apple Watch. It just told me that on average I am doing 4,180 steps/day this month compared to 3,973/day last month. Not bad for someone with bad hips and a cane eh? 😂3

Ugh! We had FUN in Vancouver! Congrats to @ashleycarole86 for hitting maintenance 2 weeks in a row and "recovering" from our trip so quickly. You never cease to amaze your dh!5 -
The peepers are singing, my weird slo-mo raccoon and a lovely young doe visited today, and so far my little kale plants have not been molested by any groundhogs! A good day all around. Lots of good steps, even though my feet got so wet I had to wring out my shoes, and I am sharing those delish sore abs with you @kali225 ! Hurts so good
Time for reminders again already! How does that happen - so here are the Friday people all lined up and ready to go:

Had a work lunch today and navigated it well. I have been relying on pre-planning to get through these situations as eating out with coworkers, friends and family is becoming a more frequent thing again. Makes it much easier to have my item chosen and logged before I go (especially when I'm going to a place that won't have calorie counts listed). I chose an item off the starter menu and it was plenty. I don't do that often but the thing I wanted most was there.
@jugar LOL - protect the kale!!!4 -
Hi everyone! I’m Jessi - think I already missed the first weigh in 😬😬 I was 96.3kgs
I’m a nanny with no enough time or energy but I’m working on losing 35kgs.
I ate terribly yesterday but I did get out for a 45minute run 😊5 -
