    Happy Friday everyone!

I am really sorry to report a gain

    PW 218.9 lbs
    CW 220 lbs exactly.

I'm really trying to get back to healthy eating but it seems last few wekks I lost my motivation
It is so annoying because everything hurts when I get up in the morning so why can't I just do it?

Anyway, I am sure one day it will click and I'll start loosing again

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Not that great of a week as far as hitting goals. Had my wellness coach visit and body scan yesterday after work. I had lost weight since my last check in 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately my inflammation was up, no fat loss and water weight was up. Lost muscle this week too. My food diary looks good so that's not the issue. I just had the time of the month too. She asked me if I was stressed. I think I've been so busy I hadn't thought of it. My response was "UM, YEAH "! Everyone is quitting at work and we just did our final evaluation push which means 5x more paper work than normal. Obviously the effects of cortisol are very bad on weight loss. I need to work in some detox days which is similar to keto with very clean food. Lots of avocado, lettuce, kale, lemon juice, olive oil, fish and chicken. I need to get some rest this weekend. I have a massage today with my husband. Tomorrow I am taking my daughter and a friend to the museum to see the exhibit from DreamWorks animation studio for her birthday. She wanted to know how art and drawing can be a real job. This will be fun but I'm just lacking energy right.

Hi everyone! I’m Jessi - think I already missed the first weigh in 😬😬 I was 96.3kgs

I’m a nanny with no enough time or energy but I’m working on losing 35kgs.

I ate terribly yesterday but I did get out for a 45minute run 😊

Welcome! I'm so glad you made it in spite of your busy schedule. No worries about being a bit late - every week it is good to be there on your chosen day, but if life gets in the way, as long as you submit it by the end of the day on Saturdays, you're fine! I don't mind late, as long as it is there by the time I do tallies on Sunday mornings.

A 45 minute run is worth celebrating, and you had a great loss for your first week! Almost 2 kg - 4 pounds! If you can find a few minutes every day to drop in here, read the posts from the team (there are not too many if you come every day), and let us know how it is going - that is the best way to survive the tough times and enjoy the successes.

I think you said in your first post that you were living in Abu Dhabi? That's an amazing place - I was there a couple of times working on a proposal for a joint doctoral program with our university. They took me to the nearby hot springs and it was a great break from all the boring discussions. I was not too crazy about Dubai, but Abu Dhabi was much more beautiful.

Go for the one perfect day as soon as you can! Plan it out, stick to the plan, and you'll feel so much better. Getting back on track takes that one first step - your own personal experiment to see what sticks. You've got this!!

Massage and a walk through an art exhibition sound very restorative. Enjoy all the minutes of both!

    Apologies for my late re-introduction.

Hi everybody, my name is Yinka and I am a 50-something year old from Bewdley in Worcestershire UK. I work from home as an online business trainer and Business English coach to Spanish learning and development professionals. I have also just started to teach English to a group of refugees in our town as a volunteer.

I have been on a weight loss journey for far too long, I think - and am also cursing some of the negative effects of menopause! Despite this, I am encouraged by Liselyn (@jugar) who has successfully traversed this path and emerged successfully maintaining her weight loss.

I have finessed my goal for the next few weeks to lose 3lb before my trip to Virginia to see my son - we haven't seen him for almost 3 years!

My issues are all diet-based. For some reason I stubbornly refuse to eat right! I have a similar problem with regular walking, although I believe that a lot of my walking issues stem from me still grieving the loss of our darling dog, Edie, just before Christmas. I do a weekly forest walk with two of my best friends and their two rescue dogs, Apollo and Lucy, but am still struggling to just go for a walk around the block without a dog!

Perhaps I will have a better outlook when we get back from our holiday?

Meanwhile, this month I shall focus on better eating, more water, and my regular workouts.

    Nice to "meet" you all!

TGIF! Being unemployed, that doesn't hit quite as hard.. but still fun to look forward to the weekend. It turns out one of the girls I am having brunch with tomorrow already made a reservation at a place I haven't been to before, but there are luckily some pretty healthy options (must plan ahead, like @ashleycarole86 said!). I'm between a frittata with chicken sausage & cheese, or an avocado toast on 7 grain bread with burrata. My guess is that the frittata would be less calories overall, but I'll just log the best I can estimate once I'm there.

I don't want to scare it away but the sun has just come out after 2.5 rather dreary days of muggy rain. It was a rest day for working out and a longer yoga video day. I'm making pasta carbonara for dinner tonight, which I haven't made in years and years - very excited! I wish I had pancetta on hand but I am settling for plain old bacon (which is realistically less calories).

    @conleywoods a much-deserved massage! enjoy it

Hoo boy - what a day!

We started with wild storms in the wee hours of the morning, but gradually the day turned beautiful. I decided to climb through the deer fence around our blueberries and currants to weed and prune. The berries are green and plentiful, so I wanted to make sure they would thrive. After a couple of hours back and forth, the last exit through the deer fence planted me flat on my back, whacking my head, breaking the fence and my flip flop (gougounes!). I'm fine, but there will be no exercise biking tonight - a wee break will feel good.

I got back into my maintenance weight all this week, so I feel more in control again. One question that hit my brain reading @YinxFed was about age. I look at the food you younger folks can eat and my mind boggles! Don't forget, intake reduces as we age. And macros change. For me, fat has always been an issue due to a genetic problem digesting fats, and I have some protein intolerances, so maybe I'm overly sensitive to these things, but I really think it is true that we need less as we age, just as we need more as we are growing. Menopause is often the tipping point for women, but I think it is true for everyone that our digestion and needs (macros) alter as we age. We produce less new muscle and other tissue, we process a bit less efficiently, and all kinds of other stuff happens that scientists could explain better than I can.

But then there is the wonder of seeing your son after 3 years @YinxFed . I can't imagine such a long time! No matter what, you are going to have a fantastic time back together again. If it means you don't exercise as much as you'd like or you eat to celebrate, do not worry. We'll help you put it all back together again afterwards!

@Kali225 we were both fabulous this week! Now let's keep it going for another one...

Update on my Friday: I made 2 big mistakes this evening! 1, I was having my afternoon snack and realized I went way over portions on one part, so I went to adjust my log and realized that I hadn't planned to have that snack at all!! So that was a big chunk of extra calories. 2, I fell asleep for almost an hour a little after 6pm! I am trying to avoid naps altogether and that is a poor time to slip up because it can wreck my ability to fall asleep before midnight.

I had my dinner as planned but now I am going to try a long night walk. I haven't done one in quite some time since my foot weirdness, but I know it will help with digestion and make me feel a bit better about accidentally derailing a car on the train.

@jugar I should say "fabulous this week"! You are going for the Great Wall of Green in the spreadsheet!

I'm taking some deep breaths. Does anyone else suddenly realize they are holding extra tension and just need to let something go? In, out. :)

@Kali225 you are coming to the nighttime exercise thing way before I did! It is amazing to exercise before bedtime. I love the idea of your long night walks. There is something so wonderful about being outside in the dark, as long as you are somewhere where that is safe! If it isn't, be sure to consider exercise bike, treadmill, or some other indoor thing for a spell before heading to sleep.

No matter what, it is good that your foot weirdness is passing and that you are sneaking in movement at times ou wouldn't normally do that. Yesssss!

The day started well, but a few things happened... and well, to say I'm miserably grumpy would be an understatement. Unfortunately so much so that it's in a bit of a self sabotaging place.

I didn't turn to food, but I'm miserable for those around me. I would normally eat to feel better, but I've put myself to bed. I can do less damage there!

    Hi everyone,

Long time no see. I am Marie. 49 years old. Mother of two free thinkers, argumentative, bright and demanding boys. I am also a musician, a horse rider, a skier, a swimmer and a cyclist...Before the pandemic, I was 127 pounds for roughly 5 years without trying that hard. I was swimming 5 times a week and eating well without really making an effort. When the pools closed at the beginning of the pandemic, I went from 127 to 135, and I still haven't been back to 127. I was 129 for a while but went back to this cursed 135. I tried a couple of times to join this group and I abandoned after a few weeks. I have been going through a chaotique period since early March when my 9 year old son had a severe concussion in a ski accident, a few days later, we got Covid, then I started a tour ( I am a musician) and while on tour, we had a massive water damage due to a washing machine running water for 12 hours destroying our oak floors and filling up our basement where we had tones of belongings. Nothing is resolved yet with the insurance and we have no idea when we will be leaving the house for the floor to be destroyed and rebuilt...and the list of reasons to indulge is longer.... Anyway... All this to say that stress and lack of sleep brought a lot of sugar into my blood stream in the last few months. I have a sweet tooth and when I am really tired I loose control. But things are about to change! I will start writing my intake... and face my urges...

    I was 135 last week.
    I am 134.8 this week.

My goal for the week is to lose between 0.5 and 1 pound.
My goal for the summer is to be back at 127 before we leave for England on July 17th.
My overall goal is to be at 125 before I turn 50 in September

Yes... Just like you @YinxFed, I find the effects of being pre menopaused challenging, but like you, I find Liselyn (@jugar) really inspiring... so if she did it, we can do it!

My other weekly goal is to log in my food intake... It is something I haven't done for 20 years...

    Have a good week everyone!

Welcome back @mmarceau2 ... so nice to see you again!
All I can say is... WOW! Stressed must not even begin to summarize how you feel.
Glad you have found your way back to us and I am looking forward to seeing you accomplish your goals.
The concussion in particular must have been hard for your family. Hope your son is doing better but I know the effects can be long lasting.

Alright, mood is reset. Honestly some days when I get like that, the ONLY thing to do is to go to bed. Staying awake and continuing to spread my "joy" to the world does me no good!

We don't have the bikes up at the lake this weekend, so today's exercise will definitely be walking. It's supposed to be quite rainy here the next while, but I'll aim to get my 10,000 steps today at minimum. The complex we're in is quite small so I can feel a bit like a hamster in a wheel, but that's okay.. if I really want I can leave and walk the roads a bit (safer than it sounds!)

    Enjoy the day.

@micki48 total sympathy with that feeling here - I can get very down/wistful looking at my closet these days knowing that only about 10% of it can fit me right now. It would be less in my face if we didn't have to wear clothes every day. (I may be advocating for a nudist colony.)

brunch went well today but I couldn't hang onto feeling full after my meal.. so when I got home, I went crazy with snacking. probably the closest to a binge that I've been in more than a solid week. however, now hours later, I'm still not hungry for dinner, so fine! Not going to push myself to eat if I can save the calories and fill up on water (I am very thirsty). I took an hour walk which felt good. Heading into an arm workout now, and then maybe a barre video as well since I've been enjoying them a lot lately. I want to be really on the ball Sunday and Monday so that Fri/Sat slip ups don't doom my tues weigh-in, since the rest of this week was really solid! @jugar I'm still "logging everything" for the tracker, even if it isn't pretty! I think that was my downfall last month. Face the music.

@mmarceau2 talk about stressful!! I hope your son is doing okay now! insurance is SUCH a hassle. but welcome back, and remember we are always all ears for venting! helps me a lot to let it out. :)

@ashleycarole86 I'm glad your mood is back to the sunny side of the street :sunglasses: - those horrible grumpy passages are no fun for anyone. I had a friend who kept a bright yellow ball cap on a hook near the door. Anyone in the house who was just in one of those horrible moods had to wear it, and everyone else would just leave them alone. If you were NOT wearing the yellow cap, you had to be nice!

@mmarceau2 so good to see you back! Yes, logging food is a drag, but it really helps to get a handle on what goes in, and gives you a way to plan a meal ahead and then feel all proud for sticking with it. But as @Kali225 so wisely said, you have to log the good, the bad - everything. It also helps show up mysteries and be part of the experiment on your own body. What works? What causes problems? Sometimes the same number of calories will have a different effect, so logging is a good way to see those patterns or exceptions. In any case, you'll make it!

@lauren_989 I bet you'll be glad when the prednisone is over. And the poison ivy is gone, I hope! I'm so glad there isn't any around up here. Where I grew up there was lots of it, and I had a couple of seriously horrific bouts of the stuff when I was a kid. Never want that again!

@kellie_erin We're all rooting for you with the full-time work and the the Masters degree - as you say, stress can make it hard to lose, but eating cleanly and keeping track of that will help you work and study better. One less stress - so hang in there and come here for a good vent any time!

@jugar gougounes are not known for their stability and ruggedness for all-terrain travel. My husband is always wearing his when we have to carry large, heavy, or awkward items from the car to the house so I'm always the one who gets to walk backwards since I'm the sucker who decided to wear actual shoes.

I hope you're feeling better after your wipeout!

Our dock rebuild is finally almost done. It took 2 days longer than anticipated. I didn't even make it to the breakfast club today, it was another day of 'wake up and go'!

Random occurrence this week, we have a stray peahen (female peacock) wandering around our street. She roosted on our roof Thursday night and now she's wandered over to a neighbour. She makes a honk that sounds like a rubber clown horn! Someone's pet has escaped and we don't know how to trap her and track down her people! Hopefully she doesn't get hurt while we try to figure it out. We think she escaped from the local Buddhist temple but I haven't found any contact info, so I might be taking a drive tomorrow to ask.
Something you never expect to see running wild in rural Quebec..... Peacocks!

@PlaneMonkey a peahen!! My stars. There was a farm near us that had several peacocks years ago. That will be interesting going over to the Buddhist temple to see if she comes from there. It's true they make some pretty wild sounds - but I'll always think of the clown horn now

I was so confused about what gougounes are (even though I think you said flip flop too @jugar )... I technically speak French too (although not well anymore) but that was a new one to me.

Didn't know the name for a female peacock was a peahen either.. so I'm getting quite an education tonight.

@jugar That yellow hat idea is a good one. The worst part is that I let work stress and frustration and a situation that happened about 4 p.m. ruin my night. Well, I ruined my night.. but you know what I mean. Today was better in every way.. the rain didn't come so we got the boat out, we had a nice day of fun in general... sitting with a fire now.

@Kali225 Good job on logging everything. Not always fun, but I think it makes a big difference. Hope you enjoyed your workout buffet! Lots of different fun in there.
