@conleywoods I'm with @ashleycarole86 trying to crawl through the screen to fight her for that last piece of cake! And I don't usually like cake - the fact that there is no chocolate involved helps a lot DIL of the year award!
@dillyg08 you are right that hanging out here more often is good for the mood, intentions, and planning.

We're about 2/3rds full after several hours. Fingers crossed it didn't overly exert the pump. It likely wiped through the filters so we will have to change them sooner than later.
The tub got scratched up a bunch during delivery and a few of the refurbishment items we were promised were not done so overall we're pretty sad with the purchase but once we get it filled and the water chemicals sorted out I'm sure we will perk up. It's pretty with the lights on
The first time you soak in the tub, all the frustrations will float away. We kept the chemicals in by the pump and put them in after every soak.. The filters were washable, I hope it's the same for you.2 -
I am one of those that starts something and doesn't always finish it. I have a membership for Team Body Project and have started many of their two week workout plans and finished none.
Today, I am on day 9 of 10 for their Metabolic Plan and I am so excited about finishing it. Yesterday, I did it in the studio of the gym, it was nice to have the mirrors to watch my form. The studio is about 30ftx30ft and halfway through, a guy from the weights area came in and plotted down right next to me to do floor exercises. There was only the two of us in there and he literally got on the floor two feet from me. I didn't let it deter me, I carried on as if he wasn't there, huffing, puffing and all!3 -
@ashleycarole86 and @jugar I know my MIL really appreciated the effort and it was a delicious cake! Really glad there is only one piece left and the kids will have it. @jugar I'm with you, I prefer vanilla based cake and can easily pass on a chocolate cake. I don't bake often but I do alright when I do. My daughter wants me to open a cake shop now 🙄 that would be 👎 bad! Fun fact: to save money on our wedding I baked and decorated our 3 tier fondant cake😲 I was crazy!3

Congrats @LoraineGB .. way to follow through on completion! Also love that you didn't let the weird guy get in your way, LOL
My yoga inversion program has fell by the wayside... I could relate to the starting and not finishing.. to be honest sometimes I bite off more than I can chew, but I think how I respond to that is key... and sometimes STARTING and not finishing is better than not starting at all (something for this perfectionist to remember!!!) I'll get back to it soon!!
@conleywoods
I can be there by car in less than a day.. don't tempt me!! No one wants to see me wrestle the last piece of cake out of your kid's hands!! Hahaha
Well I have a filling to get done at the dentist tonight, AND work had the nerve to book a last minute meeting over my lunch hour, so my step count thus far is dismal and not planning to get any better until close to bedtime! My sweet little dog still needs her walk and she's patiently waiting for the temps to drop so that it's safe for her to be out so we will all get what we need in a bit here...

But I'm all in there with you to cheer for @LoraineGB ! The serial starting habit is tough to break, and sticking with it long enough to really see a difference is fantastic! I could just picture you keeping at it with the guy doing his floor exercises right next to you - I hope some of your sweat dripped on him! Well done. If you can finish day 9 under those circumstances, I have no worries that you are going to finish up day 10
I am perishing of thirst after a very salty and overindulgent snack today, so off for some H2O and a ride on the exercise bike to sweat some of that snack right off.
Thursday is coming! It's your turn -

@ashleycarole86 ha! No need to spend the next 8 hours in the car. That darn cake is now gone...phew!
Love the discussion on starting vs completing specific programs. I'm not always big on seeing a program through either. I like variety and I change things up pretty often. That keeps me exercise. I guess a 2 week challenge just doesn't do it for me since I just have to continue working out anyway 😅 It's the work that's never done.
Today at the lake I was able to STAND on my paddle board and PADDLE with out falling for the first time 😁5 -
Good morning WaistAways!
181 on the dot this morning, so I'll drink my water and hope it sticks around for tomorrow.
Going to declare bankruptcy again, I've read all your posts, but I've got to get going for today, so....
Thanks everyone for the compliments on my chair and pole pictures! It makes me feel great, and I can see myself getting better at it. And I'm surrounded by hot girls doing hot things, so win-win-win.
just a quick drive by tagging:
@conleywoods The cake looks so good! I used to make boozy cupcakes all the time, one of which was tequila sunrise flavored. Your cake reminds me of that. My favorite boozy cupcakes were my irish car bomb ones, though- guinness batter, chocolate whiskey ganache inside, with irish cream infused frosting. I think I know what I'm making for my birthday this year...
@ashleycarole86 thanks again for the steps roundup! It's so fun seeing how far we travel as a team!
@LoraineGB ughhhh dudes at the gym, ugh. I'm glad you didn't let his creepdom stop you!
Anyway! Tonight is some more gym stuff! Finishing these two classes today will put me at 5 classes already this week, and I'm scheduled for 7! (Monday with three classes was...maybe too many in one day, lol)
Have a great Thursday, everyone!4 -
Morning all! Is it Friday yet?
@conleywoods that cake looks gorgeous, I'm glad your efforts were appreciated!
I am feeling completely drained and it's triggering me to binge. Between house guests most of this week and the office yesterday, I think I'm all people-d out!
My favourite moment yesterday was at the allotment about 8.30pm, the football had finished (the allotments are next to community pitches) and everything went quiet. It was so peaceful; I'd love to bottle that feeling and could've stayed for hours.
We've finally had some rain which means the allotment ground is workable again, so I started prepping the first of the raised beds, and sowed some radish seeds. My haul was a beetroot (the first harvested item that I've grown from seed!), two tomatoes and some of the wild blackberries growing around the fence line.
I've managed to not have any post-dinner snacks - OK, OK, one blackberry last night as it burst when I picked it! - which definitely feels like a victory. Today I'm not doing so well with the snacking/bingeing, but will try to rein it in for the rest of the day and stick to main meals. We're going to have McDonalds for tea, and I'd like to get in the mindset where I know I'm getting a treat later so I am happy to anticipate that, rather than wanting something now.5 -

OMG girl!! Can I crawl through the screen for that cake? Amazing.. so beautiful. Daughter in-law of the year!!
Love to hear that good planning paid off. Your meal sounded so tasty too
I second this ☝🏻☝🏻☝🏻☝🏻☝🏻That cake is amazing and you are the best DIL ever!
Amazing losses. So happy for all of you seeing that green. I have gotten in more exercise this week, but the scale is NOT my friend.
Reading the comments about completion, the first thing that came to mind for me was the mantra of my Pilates group—Grace over Guilt. I agree so much with Liselyn, everyone has to find what works (or doesn’t) for them where they are. Sometimes I think I give myself too much grace and no guilt. But I am going to acknowledge that although my weight loss has been nonexistent, (more like gain), the grace I’m giving myself comes from the fact that the first 6 months of this year I packed up a house, moved 500 miles away, started a new life living with my daughters family and had Covid. This is where I am. I’m about to start a new(old) job after 5 years “off”. I will take care of myself and do what I can each day. I will not beat myself up. I have had a very busy year.
@jugar Keep strong 💪🏼 and chase those dang groundhogs. My barricade seems to have, at least, discouraged them from eating everything in my garden.
Gotta go take Juliet to see some Monarch caterpillars in my girlfriend’s garden. She is an official weigh station and currently has 17 caterpillars on her milkweed. 🐛3 -
I'm here! I'm sleep deprived! I'm still behind on reading and I owe steps but I did remember the scale this morning and I think this is green for me!

Not all the going-out bloat is gone yet but this past weekend I basically started drinking at 2pm on Friday and didn't stop until midnight Saturday SO I will take it! Moving day yielded 18k steps and my poor feet feel it today. Still so so much going on and I am headed away tonight for the weekend. Good lord. Someone mentioned cake. Must investigate that later.6 -
YAY, I finished the Metabolic Plan and after a lot of great comments and provoking thoughts about the starting and not finishing, I realised it's because I really enjoyed it. It was low impact, got my heart rate up and didn't jam my knees up.
I also noticed that team members who have steady results appear to be a lot more active than me so I've made an effort to up my game. I am not comparing myself to others, I am pinching all the good ideas and habits to help my own success

Pinching the good ideas is how it works! Congrats on finishing the program @LoraineGB - I notice that your habit tracker is looking really really green too! Do you have a next exercise program lined up that fits your enjoyment factors? That sure helps.1

Yes I do, I have another Body Project workout which is a 5 day, Knee Friendly one but I may take a rest day tomorrow and start it Saturday. After that, I’m not sure yet.
I chose habits for my tracker that would give me the most change juice. I was sloppy with tracking, drank only about 16oz of water a day and didn’t do any intentional exercise so I’m happy to report that I’m on track for a really good first month.

GUYSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!
The hot air balloon ride is going ahead! We are scheduled for the morning and the conditions are right!
We have to meet at 5:45 in Calgary and we are picking up our friend who is joining us on the way so it's going to be an EARLY morning.
Which means I need to get to bed!
After that, we are going out to Canmore and biking the Legacy Trail! It's been a busy summer but I know Brad appreciates any extra time we can make on the bike as he does his final prep for his second Gran Fondo!
If we can make it in time, we'll then drive to the lake tomorrow night. Otherwise, we'll go up Saturday morning. In any event, it'll be a busy one!
8/17 exercise: 9755 steps (I hate when I miss goal by so little!! I didn't even realize I was short until I typed this up.. BOO! LOL)
Congrats on finishing that program @LoraineGB
Your share sparked a lot of great convo!
Hope everyone enjoys their Friday!4 -
@LoraineGB Congrats on finishing your workout program! Amazing how much more motivated you are when it's enjoyable!
@ashleycarole86 Wow! You guys finally get to go. So excited for you guys! Otherwise you two might have had to get creative 😆 LOL.
Today was okay for food. I hit my macros and did good most of the day. My husband suggested Chinese tonight and it sounded so good. I picked beef and vegetables which really isn't that bad. I just don't really love having something so salty the night before I weigh in😬
No workout today. I meant to but I was finishing up one of my masters program classes and I just got on a roll. Tomorrow is a lake day so I will get plenty of exercise then!
