September!! What the heck eh??
Today was my last day of work until the 19th. After a long workday that continued into my evening, I walked the dog, did a nice 10 minute strength session, and I'm feeling good.
In the morning we are up to drive to Manitoba (11 hours or so). My aunt is getting married on Sunday! Going to see so much family.. really excited.
Hoping to get up early again tomorrow to ride the Peloton before we leave. Setting that intention now!

Loss of 0.8 lbs from last weigh in, and 5.4 lbs overall for this challenge. I'll take it. This last week's weigh ins have been frustrating, but overall for the month this loss is excellent.
Thanks everyone for all the encouragement for this challenge! This is a good group.7 -

I didn't know what a Gran Fondo was so I looked it up. It looks Ah-mazing!
@ashleycarole86 Do you get to go along the route to cheer at all?2 -

So it's plain to see I have not had a good week. I ate all the food and drank all the drink . I know better, I should do better, I can do better.
Our Happy Hour last Friday just extended through the week and we've eaten out every day for at least one meal, sometimes two.
Time to reset and have a great September. My stepson comes to visit tomorrow for three days and I can't wait to see him, after many years of distance we finally have a really good relationship and really enjoy each others company.
Is it possible to ask for a pass week so I don't completely bomb the group?3 -
kellie_erin wrote: »Thanks for the support everyone, I really appreciate it. My step-dad actually ended up in the hospital yesterday - his bloodwork showed some stuff that is causing his symptoms. He's going to be there for a few days. I'm hoping things will get figured out but I don't know the prognosis yet.
This in combination with physical pain and master's stress has definitely brought my weight loss motivation to a halt 😫. Here's hoping September is better than August
Glad your stepdad is in the hospital where he can get 24hr care and give you a bit of a break. Did you hear back from your tutor at all? I know it's intense right now, but it will get better.

@LoraineGB I have not heard back from my master's supervisor, which is not unexpected. He ghosted me for months in the winter semester and then all summer. Getting any help from him is like pulling teeth and I'm reaching my limit 🙄1

Sounds like a fun week, but yeah. Consequences... Don't worry about us taking a hit - we'll take it. You're HERE. And just think how good it's going to look over the next couple of weeks! Have a great visit with your stepson - without too much happy hourkellie_erin wrote: »@LoraineGB I have not heard back from my master's supervisor, which is not unexpected. @jugar I totally forgot to weigh in this morning. I guess I was too excited for coffee this morning! I will weigh in tomorrow morning.3

@kellie_erin You have so much going on right now. I'm glad you're here with us and this is a great place to vent ❤
@ashleycarole86 The work changes sound really big! They must know you are the right person for the additional duties. You do a great job co- leading our team and can't imagine that is any different at work. Congrats on the new job role and enjoy your vacation 😀
@jugar Sounds like you are a party animal lately. Fun with your daughter and late night music gigs! I love it.
@LoraineGB We all get off track and you got this. Get that one perfect day going.
@bowens1973 Oh how exciting! Did you get the traction issue worked out on the bike? Wishing you the best of luck.
I had a great day yesterday, had my pre planned snack in the evening and then followed it with cookies, chocolate and crackers.😑 Back at it today. My husband was stress eating last night and I apparently joined in for moral support. I will have to be less supportive in the future!5 -
@ashleycarole86 Do you get to go along the route to cheer at all?
Brad shares his location with me from his phone so I am able to get updates on his progress that way.
Thanks @conleywoods
Like with any change, it will be hard before I settle in. There is a lot of knowledge I need to acquire, but I'll just have to be patient with myself.
Hope everything is okay with hubby - hard when someone we love is in that space and it can definitely be tempting to lean in to their chosen method of coping.

I hope everyone has been having (or already had!) a great Friday. I woke up with some good energy (thanks @dd265 !) and it has been wonderful to be working around the house, having time for some exercise and even to sit around a bit, and grabbing some good hauls of vegetables out of the garden. A bit batch of carrot ginger soup is making the house smell wonderful and will taste even better during the late fall and winter when it gets eaten.
I'm hopping on the exercise bike for the first time in well over a week - all the visitors are gone, my running around to Montreal is over, and it's time to pedal my way through some episode of something good.
Final weigh-ins due for this week:
@PlaneMonkey
@EvMakesChanges
@conleywoods
@micki48
@ells_bellz
@dillyg08
@bobagurl2017
@veronica1359
@Shawtytel
and @Pearl4686 if you want to update your starting weight for September, your weigh-in day is Friday, so go ahead if you want to do that. Thanks!3 -

It just won’t stop! I’ve gained back so much. I’ve got to get this together.
I’m tired and the kids haven’t even come yet. Lots of meetings and getting ready. We had a Meet the Teachers event and met some of the kids. We also had an active shooter training. It was intense. Sad that here in the US it’s so necessary. We learned how to disarm a shooter. It’s no longer run, hide. It’s fight. The trainer we had also trained the President’s Secret Service team.
Hugs to you all!! Sorry to be MIA this week/month. Need to get a plan as I roll into September and busy life.7 -

WTG!! You are the second team member to hit all 5 weeks in the green for August - AND you have now lost over 20 pounds total. Fantastic work.6 -
@jugar I posted my weight (on page 27) a few nanoseconds before you posted the reminder so I think you must have missed it. It was 189.4 unfortunately.

Darn! A serious gain but my eating and exercise have been really inconsistent with the start of the school year/work year beginning. I'm really happy with all of my kids teachers this year. My husband also had a good start to his year. I go back on Tuesday and I got a sneak peak at the classroom setup. It looks much better than last year. I'm hopeful for a good year. The new school year will bring some order to our carefree summer style 😎. This will be good for the scale and my goals!5 -
Checking in before bedtime. Got on the scale again this morning and up a bit more. I am not sure what I have to do. Clearly, it needs to be more radical. Can't go with the mindset that I maintained for a year doing this. Not now. It's only going to get busier too. I am so sad that I have not figured out how to make my Pilates mat time happen. It's been a very long time since I've done it. Pretty sure it's not going to happen first thing (which I prefer) so I NEED to make evening pilates a "thing" for me.
We are still warm here, but a bit cooler than the near 100 degrees. No one watered my tomatoes and flowers this past week while I worked, so I'm going to head out there in a bit. Lots of lovely green tomatoes that just can't turn red with this heat. It's cooler so they will start turning red. Lots of wonderful cherry and grape tomatoes though.
I'm meeting one of my friends/colleagues from North Carolina who is dropping her daughter off at college 15 minutes from me. We are having lunch.
Speaking of lunch, that is the one thing that is definitely different. Much more eating out after the pandemic years. I am not eating all of my food, but I guess enough to add weight.
I think Kelly or Kristi asked about boxes in the classroom. So far I haven't unloaded any boxes because I am not the lead teacher and the lead is a minimalist to my "collector/archivist" self. We'll see how long she can hold me off. LOL
I was reading through some older posts-- Skunks, Opened my windows last night to let in some of the cool breeze. It was lovely, then overpowering with skunk smell coming through the window. Windows shut.
@PlaneMonkey I love "Regret Doesn't Taste Good" ! I wrote it down and put it on my refrigerator. Thanks.

I had an almost perfect day yesterday, I missed my exercise goal but had a good day in the food and water and mindset. Today I have nailed the exercise already so it’s a good start.
I’ve decided to weigh everyday this week if I can remember. I’m a once a week weigher but I feel if I get on the scale each morning, it may keep me focused for the day.
I’m was having another high anxiety day, but it’s turned into anger as the day has gone on. We arranged for a masonry worker to come today to fix a crack in our external wall. We live in a 100 year old stone cottage and the crack is a new one but large enough to worry about. Anyways, he hasn’t shown and isn’t responding to texts. He’s the only one around so we need him more than he needs us.
My football team lost 2-1 due to a ridiculous decision by the referee, it’s the difference between getting a point for a draw and nothing for losing. We’re too near the bottom of the table and where I usually shrug my shoulders because we’re not always that good, today it has enraged me.
Then there’s my FIL who is a nice man but has demanded we drive two hours to meet him for lunch tomorrow so he can see my stepson. My stepson lives in New Mexico and we don’t get to see him nearly enough so I’m irritated that we have to spend most of the day tomorrow travelling to meet my FIL for a one hour lunch. He can’t walk far at all so it’s literally lunch and then home. He does this all the time, he demands we do stuff and we dutifully oblige. He was the mayor of the town for 20 years and I think he thinks he holds that position in the family now. What’s irritated me most is he’s turned a conversation with my stepson from ‘it’s a shame we’ll miss each other’ into ‘JB wants to meet me for lunch’.
Thanks for letting me vent. Because I am working towards a perfect day, I’ve let it motivate me to do chores I’ve been putting off instead of eating and drinking all my feelings.

Here's another thing to post on your fridge or wherever..."even gourmet meals end up in the toilet".
You can use whatever terms bring the point home!
Happy September, y'all!

I feel good about the small losses even though I always feel much better when it's over a pound or 2. I can tell when I try to balance the humidity at work by eating things like Salt & vinegar chips...instant "gain" because of water retention. Sigh. Well, eventually, things will even out, provided I continue drinking a lot of water, eating vegetables out of @jugar's garden (haha!), and decreasing heavy fats, meats, and dairy. I'm mostly cured of the heavy "chowdahs" of the northeast but still get hankerings for beef more than I'd prefer.
Can't wait to sample some of your Ginger-carrot soup! I'll make some of my own soon.
See you on the flip tomorrow.

I am not sure what you are asking. Are you going to be away for 2 months? If so, you can go onto the support team until you come back. You can post messages any time, but you will not need to weigh in. Is that correct?0 -
@LoraineGB I totally feel your anxiety morphing into anger - we tend to avoid that transformation and sometimes it is the right response! If you think about it, anger gives us the power and energy to make something change (hopefully), but anxiety just spins around and turns us into a tangled ball of nerves. If the anger can lead you into some solutions and action, think it through and take the steps. Getting angry about stuff we cannot do anything about (like the refs in the game!) is not so useful, but once in a while, the anger is helpful. If it isn't, and you can't really do anything with it to help the situation (like with your FIL, sadly...) try to channel it into exercise or action of another kind. @Terytha and I got into quite a period of "angercize" a while back, and it felt good! In any case, I'm glad you vented with us.
@micki48 let's try to get our Pilates back on track. I have also been slacking in that area lately, and need to hit the daily schedule better. I have been doing lots of other stuff, as you have, but that 15-30 minutes a day is not a lot and it makes a huge difference. We can do it!
It was a kind of gruelling garden day today. I really dug out the blueberry patch, got stung a lot as I dug into a ground wasp nest, then went out to the vegetable garden to thoroughly cultivate, weed, clip, pick, hoe, and all the things. Lots of bending over. The plain old walking parts of the day felt easy!
Final August tallies first thing tomorrow morning - last call for last August weigh-ins!

Such good advice as always, thank you. I love the idea of angercize!
It actually felt surprisingly good to let my anger take its course rather than suppressing it and you are so right about anxiety swirling, it almost polarises me at time.
And a tip if you get stung and have a reaction like I do - run the sting site under warm water or sit in a warm bath, apparent it neutralises the sting site and it definitely worked for me the last time.
