Hello all! Happy Monday Everyone!
I woke up in the middle of the night with a sore throat and drainage, as well as what felt like a fever, although I didn't get up to take my temperature. I was terrified I had covid again, but I took a test this morning and its negative. So good. Actually, I don't feel terrible right now....just a headache and the throat. I probably will jump on the treadmill when my husband goes to PT- he'd lecture me otherwise.
I was really "good" all weekend, calories below goal, but the scale didn't budge this morning. Probably because I'm doing the weekly challenge and drank alot of water yesterday. My body fat went down a bit on the scale, but it jumps around so much I don't pay too much attention. I can handle about 3 days in a row of the scale not moving, but past that I get super frustrated. So here's hoping tomorrow or Wednesday is better.
I'm going to try to stay on track today but not be too hard on myself becuase I'm not 100%
@jessicakrall8 - My name is Melissa for the step challenge!

Welcome back, @kcpond! I’m less active after transitioning to work at home, too. I’ll look forward to working together to find solutions that help us increase our activity and manage our nutrition better.
Congratulations @CasandraW, @Yukie_OP, and @TexanMom8152 for getting on the leaderboard for week four in January. Shape Shifters placed third for percentage of weight lost and second place for pounds lost because of your success! 👏👏👏
Shape Shifters also lost 76.7 pounds in January— amazing! Thanks to all the members who contributed to our team appearing on the leaderboard again! Congratulations @kodakslim, @TexanMom8152, and @GwenS23! 🎉🎉🎉
I’m always most impressed by the consistency of people who are ‘in the green’ for their losses over the entire month. Great work @Walela617, @zog_a_log, @TexanMom8152, @cre804, and @kodakslim! 🤩🤩🤩
Well done, Shape Shifter!2 -

We have about 20cm (5 inches) of snow here. And right now very ice, snow had started to melt and then froze .2 -
@Pupowl - I planned to clean yesterday, and woke up motivated, but I ended up going to a work event that my husband wanted me to attend with him instead. I love the freshness of the house after opening the windows and cleaning so I’m just going to live vicariously through you today, step outside, and take a deep breath of fresh air. My dog is afraid of the vacuum cleaner, too, but he doesn’t mind the hairdryer. He even likes the hairdryer after a bath! 🐶 Recently, my husband bought one of those Roomba vacuum cleaners that constantly move around the floor, which annoy me with their noise and bumping but not enough to fuss about it. I thought it would drive our dog crazy but he accepted it after a short adjustment period. I wish I felt the same way but I’m still not used to it. So I retreat upstairs while it’s bumping around — whenever possible!🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
I’m going to try getting through my work efficiently today so I can clean off a work table in my office at least. I set small goals whenever my larger goals seem too difficult. We’ll see if it works —

@SavageMrsMoose - I’m so sorry to hear about your dog’s most recent diagnosis. Buddy looks so triumphant up on the sofa. Thanks for sharing the picture. He definitely looks happy and it’s clear he enjoys a high quality of life — the quintessential ‘lucky dog’ to spend his days with such a loving and caring family. You certainly explored the best treatment for him and he’ll continue to enjoy his time snuggling close on the couch!
I hope your sore throat feels better soon. I think you’re smart to continue your (covert) workouts, as long as you feel up to it. Listening to our bodies is key, and exercise will probably help you cope with the stress of Buddy’s illness, etc. Take care!2 -
@Jessicakrall8 here are my steps for end of January. They have been very low so no chance of catching up with @Pupowl 🤣

Hi everyone!
Last week/weekend was great and I got some movement on the scale, but today has been rough. Stressed out and can’t stop snacking. Remembered to check in here and hopefully that can help me get out of this spiral (already well over my daily calorie goal and nearing the f* it zone which I am trying to avoid).

Tips to stop a binge? Went for a walk but got back home and ended up eating 2 of my kids leftover quesadillas bc they were sitting in front of me! Ugh!2 -

@PatriceFitnessPal I love cleaning when I am in the right mood! I am glad your dog is fine with the hairdryer, that saves him a lot of stress. A Roomba sounds very annoying to me. I rather spend 10 minutes doing it myself than having a robot bumping around. Good luck cleaning your office!
@brttny7979 Distraction is probably the best way to stop one, but you already tried that with your walk. I don't like wasting food, but I do it sometimes. Better in the trash than in my stomach. I threw out half a box of cookies yesterday because I couldn't stop eating them. Maybe you can also try writing/journaling; why you want to binge, why you shouldn't, how it makes you feel. Sometimes being aware of why you do things helps to change them. It is not easy at all though.

Good morning Shape Shifters. I went to the grocery store in the morning to mainly get some bananas. My granola with soy yoghurt was really boring without them. I like bananas, but it is such a pain in the butt to somehow stagger when they ripen if I want to eat one a day. Maybe that is just me. Later in the day I went to a store to get new wood pellets for Tinus' litterbox (still crazy expensive sadly) and to look for a sheet of bugscreen. I set up my water barrels, but I want to keep dirt out and animals/bugs from drowing, so I thought that would be a good cover. Sadly the store didn't sell it, so I put an old tshirt over the top for now. When my dad comes over to visit, I will see about going to the bigger town with him to get that sorted. I did a 40 minute workout in the evening and had a good sleep. Happy Tuesday everyone3 -

Clearly I have not reached my step goal except one day last week. I need to "Step" up my game.
Please add me to Feb's step challenge, The weather is really crazy here right now, so my walking might have to be on a treadmill, rather than outside where I love to walk around our little town.
Have a great day Shape Shifters!2 -
Good morning everyone!
Still sick- ugh. I don't feel that bad but the drainage made me cough all night. My poor husband had to sleep in the other room just to get sleep.
There was a heavy rain in Houston last week and the water came into my parents house in one area. They've gotten the insurance company involved, but I'm probably going to have to go down there and get involved. It's pretty overwhelming when your in your 80s...
Despite the stress, I managed to stay under my calorie goal, didn't have any wine and the scale moved a little. So overall, huge success!

It's cold here in Texas today. 24 in Keller right now with a projected high of 28. It has been sleating all morning. Glad I work from home on days like today.
@SavageMrsMoose - We have friends in Houston that took water damage last week as well. Hopefully they will dodge the winter weather this week. Hope you get to feeling better soon.

Hi Carole:
Actually week 1 of Feb started 1/29/23 (take a look at the chart) and runs through Sat 2/4/23. Got you down for the week...tiny gain and I know it will come right off. Have a great weekend!

Good evening everyone!!!!! Happy Tuesday. Its been insanely cold here, but warming up now. I have been struggling with my eating habits still, ugh. I did pack tilapia and greenbeans cooked in the air fryer for lunch. Ang at my job they keep a pantry stuffed full of snacks like chips, chees its, cookies, candy, and similar snacks, I have been avoiding that area more than normal so thats a bonus I guess. Then its been too cold to workout outside, so thats not helping. Wish I could find the motivation I used to have. Tomorrow though, I plan on working out before going to lunch with some friends, and the weather is warming up so hopefully that helps me to get back to a regular workouts again.3

Great steps, everyone!
@Pupowl - I like a clean and tidy space, and I enjoy cleaning at certain times, too. When I’m starting with a relatively clutter-free environment - and focusing on just maintaining that level or improving it gradually - I feel so happy, almost ridiculously euphoric 🥰. Everything seems to flow better for me when counter tops are clear, and the air is fresh. But when I get behind and the house needs a deep cleaning instead of daily upkeep, I feel more overwhelmed and my diet and other areas of my life suffer. At those times, my mantra is ‘Don’t let perfect get in the way of good enough.’ I try to do the bare minimum, and then spend just 10-15 minutes on one focused thing.
A few years ago, our ‘brick and mortar’ office closed and I started working from home most of the time. I kept too many boxes of files and equipment and it’s been difficult to find a consistent time to go through the stuff, organize what I want to keep, and donate any equipment that can be used by someone else. It threw me way off course and I’m only slowly digging out of the feelings of shame and inertia to deal with it.
I joined a ‘buy nothing’ group in my neighborhood so I can offer the items to people but I haven’t yet acted on that plan. First, I made an appointment with the local Boys and Girls Club to donate some books and computer accessories (cameras, microphone headsets, etc.) that are a bit out-dated but might be useful to them — we’ll see).
I also keep too much memorabilia from my sons’ childhood (homemade cards, awards, photos, etc.) that I’m putting into artist portfolios. I’ve made some progress letting go of a lot of the junk and focusing on key milestones and memories. Now, I’m working on a website and I’ve been summarizing some of the work represented by the boxes from my office. I plan to finish that project by March. I’ll breathe easier then!
This has been a good opportunity for me to reflect on my decluttering and organizing projects. Thank you for the motivation to get back to it! Go Shape Shifters!

@angmarie28 - Finding the motivation to workout in the winter, and resist the unhealthy office snacks, is the double whammy I felt working long hours at my office, too. Congratulations on getting through it recently. That’s how better habits are formed— practice. I’m going to channel your strength and get out the door to workout despite the cold and dusting of snow. It’s nothing here compared to Montana conditions. Let’s go — 🙏🏼2
