Not a big one, but a loss is a loss. I would love a Green March...
Sorry I haven't been around much, it's been busy here, and I haven't been feeling great, but I can see the corner...
Hi everyone, I'm Vikki, 51 Baltimore, MD... Been trying to lose weight as long as I can remember. I am starting to not even care about the weight, I need to concentrate a little more on my health in general. I have been exercising daily, I know I said it seemed to go against, losing weight for me, but I need a healthy heart and body at the forefront of this journey.
Made a scrumdiddly scrumptious lunch this week, whole wheat penne, roasted veggies (broccoli, green beans, red peppers and onions, grilled chicken, with a balsamic pesto sauce, it was a ton a basil, walnuts (who keeps pine nuts in their pantry??) garlic, nutritional yeast, and balsamic vinegar and olive oil... It is sooooo good. I don't think I used enough nutritional yeast though, cause I had to add some fresh parm after I heat it up, and I probably should have added some crushed red pepper.
I am trying to stay anti-inflammatory, but I need to buy a book on that, cause honestly, I'm guessing right now...
3 weeks till CRUISE !
Have a great day !

Lost a tiny bit this week. Actually, that's not true... I gained several pounds throughout the week and managed to finally get them all back off and then some by this morning. So, I'm grateful for a loss at all!9 -

@alydanbeads I am in the same boat as you, up a few pounds this week, then down a little. I ate within calories and went to the gym but I ate several meals this week with a lot of salt. Hoping to lose some more water weight this next week!8 -
The greens are creeping ahead! It's 6 - 2 Greens, with a total team loss so far of 0.2 pounds. Go go go!6 -

Tiny but green. I was a little disappointed because I have been on point this week. I feel good with my eating and workout so I will keep with it. I need to catch up with everyone's post, but this week is crazy with parent teacher conferences.7 -
Hi everyone. I've logged everything 3 days in a row! I'm super proud of that. Lunch out today but I'll be smart and make my best guess for logging.
I'm up to 95 minutes of deliberate exercise already this week - walk/bike ride, gym trip, and quick YouTube video. I'm finding ways to get it in around my schedule and family activities. My goal is a min of 150 minutes for heart health.
I *think* the scale has peaked as I was down a little this morning. Several days until weigh-in so I'm just going to keep on keepin' on.
I'm caught up on posts. Let's go team!9 -
@EvMakesChanges It's like a little brain worm, well done you for resisting and only having half a portion. I had one (planned) chocolate egg today and I have to say, not all it was cracked up to be - see what I did there, lol7

My today self realized that previous selves were struggling with overthinking. Not only that. It became obvious that I succumbed to a classic problem…overeating one day only serves to inspire my future self to sabotage as well, thus creating that vicious cycle with an undercurrent of disappointment. Ah-ha moments of self-awareness! It’s important to remain an observer and not use the info as another weapon. It’s about progress, not perfection.
Not so surprisingly, my food log shows how “sweets and such” are my go to comfort choice, especially at work while doing tasks on the computer (which can be boring as all get out!). My primary habit to stop during this green month of March is snacking on random sweets like jellybeans, sweet-tarts, and any dessertie things across the hall in the office like brownies, cupcakes, and cookies!
I’ll let you know how that goes.
Good night/day to you all. I’ll reintroduce myself tomorrow.

All right, you punsters - hope your day was kind and generous to you. Mine was enjoyable and more productive than many recent days. Maybe the procrastination cycle is cracking a bit. I have some new ways of working on it that my be helping!
So! Thursday is going to be full of good news, I have a feeling. Weigh-ins due - let's hope for green!

Good morning, Sylvia in Massachusetts,USA. I was absent for most of February and haven't caught up. Started March today and have read all your posts - good to 'see' all you lovely people and meet the new folks. Short story: up and downs with weight all my life, did well in 2020 and dealing with the upswing this last year. Can't remember the last time I had a month in the green - have already sabotaged this week - but will aim for the rest and carry it through to a full green month in April.

Wow! We can certainly see who is back from vacation and working hard at getting on track Well done. Now, just assume I have given the standard warning that it is very, very bad to lose that much in one single week, and that you must watch for the rebound, yada yada yada. I think that goes out the window when you had such a short-term whoosh upwards, the downwards trip is no surprise and not too much of a worry. But yeah, don't get too extreme! Small green for this coming week is fine6
-
Seriously amazing post-vacation turnaround Brad and Ashley!! Good job.
I'm hoping for a small sliver of green myself. This morning the scale was friendly and I behaved reasonably well today so as long as I can steer clear of the snack cabinet or cheese drawer after hockey tonight I should be in good shape!
My training course is completed and I have a 3 day weekend to decompress before heading back to the office and my real job Monday. I plan to make the most of it and focus on the positive. I have been too much of a Debbie Downer lately. During my Tabata class last night I started feeling overwhelmed with thoughts of work stress and my final exams I had to study for and I almost quit and walked out of the class but instead I just reduced my dumbbells one size and pushed through to the end. Work emotions will not defeat my fitness goals.
On that note, off to hockey!! See y'all in the morning!5 -
@jugar I'm going to put weight loss on hold until my masters program is finished in July. I'm actually hoping to be done in June but we'll see. I will be sticking around here and shifting my focus to wellness. My goals are:
Stress management
Resolve some of my issues with not absorbing certain nutrients
Improve my food choice quality
Sleep enough
Restorative workouts
I just finished parent teacher conference week! I'm wiped out from so many meetings. I am completely caught up on all paperwork which feels good. I'm spending the next 3 days getting my paper for my masters done.6 -

I just got this super fun new water bottle! It's from hydrojug and it holds half a gallon. If I had a super power it would be my water drinking habit. I love a good water bottle. You pick the color of the bottle and then you can pick from different sleeves. The straw is flexible at the bottom so you can close the cap with the straw inside. My daughter picked a pink bottle with a black and white cow print.6 -
@PlaneMonkey you are a beacon. Thanks for telling that bit about almost leaving your class, but just lowering the weights a bit and going on anyhow. It took me until I was older than you to learn that one!! I hope the hockey game was a blast.
I had a fabulous experience today. I really rocked my workout (I am loving the green March energy!), discovering new music as I worked through my strength workout and feeling like lots of progress is happening. Then a friend invited me to meet her at the newish community sauna at the other end of the big lake near where I live. I met her there. It is a very simple setup. There is a wooden mobile-home sized sauna building, with wood stove and stones. A bucket of water with eucalyptus. Very traditional. Anyone in the community can pay a small fee to come in during scheduled times. Maximum of 10 people, 90 minutes, minimal amenities. Bring your own towels, flipflops, and a simple dressing room, no showers. Trust happens. They keep a hole cut in the lake to dip between hot sessions in the sauna, at your own risk. It was a complete wow. We were 6 people, and the chitchat was lovely, the differences interesting. The two oldest (my friend and me!) lasted the longest, and finished with a 3rd dip into the lake. I did not think I would make it into the water, but I did 3 times. Do I ever feel great. Then we went out for a beer and a snack, lots of good talk. I wish this kind of a day on all of you younger folks!5 -

@conleywoods Funny thing you mention not absorbing vitamins. For a very long time my dr kept giving me PPIs for my heartburn, finally went to a new Gastro dr, and she did a test, ( smart pill) turns out I have the complete opposite of what they were treating me for, I have low stomach acid.
Which in turn means you can not digest protein, well you can, but you just do it slowly. It also means you don't absorb minerals and vitamins. Your stomach isn't able to digest food very well, which means the food can ferment in your tummy, which tells your immune system something is wrong, which stresses your body, so you create a ton of cortisol.
I knew something didn't make sense, I have no problem eating spicy food, or acidic food, which most people with Gerd or acid reflux can't tolerate. I can't eat a cucumber, but they help high stomach acid, but not mine... Spicy and acidic foods help to naturally create stomach acid...
Anyway, there is a simple test if you want to see without another dr appointment...
Take an 4 ounce cup of room temp water, add a 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda, drink it, time 3 minutes. If you have high stomach acid you will burp immediately, after 1 but before 3 you have good level of stomach acid, after 3 minutes, you have low stomach acid. This needs to be done on a completely empty stomach, like 1st thing in the morning.
Might be worth a shot to at least see.5 -

120 minutes of exercise this week.
My goal next week is to have 165 minutes of exercise (two 60 min classes and one 45 min class). When it starts to get warmer here in MN I'll start to throw some short walks in the mix hopefully.
I'm just purely counting calories at the moment. I'll probably need to focus on bumping up my protein soon. One step at a time. I'm trying to prevent overwhelm too.5 -

I happened to be reading this on an empty stomach as I prepared my first coffee of the day so I tried it and I had a little burp while I was drinking the water, and then not again so I'm going to try it again tomorrow to see if maybe I just don't know how to drink water.... Lol

@Gidgitgoescrazy I am definitely going to try that! Something is definitely going on because my diet quality is generally pretty good. If I'm not absorbing stuff I probably want to quit buying so much organic food 🤣 I have no issues with spicy foods either.
@jugar The sauna sounds soooo nice. Our hot tub died last week. I spent $1000 Repairing it last year. It's old so I think we're going to be done with the hot tub. We are thinking of getting a sauna instead. I'm having a hard time talking my husband into building one. We have tons of lumber, a forest, a saw mill and an old wood stove. The biggest problem is my father in law deeply attached to our cedar trees. I think he would disown us if we took one. Makes sense to me😁4 -
Today is my hungry day.... Hungry hungry hippo! Luckily (I guess) I'm stuck in the car for most of the day so I won't be able to snack. Will just have to stay under control at the restaurant for dinner.
So hungry..... Lol7 -

I missed my weigh-in last Friday because we were moving and my scale was packed away. Now that we’re getting settled into the new house, we’ve only just started having home cooked meals again now that our kitchen is set up. I also haven’t had a ton of opportunity this week to workout, but I did unpack my yoga mat and committed to myself to close all 3 rings of my Apple Watch every day this month. I did that on the 1st with a cardio pilates workout and dance workout, and again yesterday with a walk and yoga workout.
Now it’s just refocusing on nutrition for the rest of the month. We are going to go on a ski trip next weekend, so I will move my weigh-in day to Thursday just for next week if that’s okay @jugar.5 -
