For @txcritter69 and anyone else interested, Next Level Gardening on YouTube has a lot of good information on gardening topics if you're interested: https://www.youtube.com/@NextLevelGardening
@micaroo4 I'm so sorry to hear about Rich's breathing, sending you both prayers!
@vegan4lyfe2012 I've tried all those teas but the watermelon lime Zinger, I'll have to look for that one! What is True Blueberry? Sounds good but I've never heard of it. Raspberry Zinger is a staple for me, I throw 6 bags, a cinnamon stick, and a chunk of ginger in the Instant Pot for 5 minutes then let it sit for hours to get real strong and drink that instead of water. I forgot about the Sangria one too, that one is yummy!
Sorry for not catching up with everyone, those who are feed friends with me already know but my car decided to go nuts yesterday, it wouldn't start before my pain clinic appointment so my Dad rushed over to take me and when we got back he asked me to start it to see if it was worth bringing his charger over. It sounded like it was starting then something was making a loud noise over the engine so I took the key out and the engine kept running on it's own (all I could think of was Stephen King's Christine) and spewing smoke and it was in the garage, I had to call the fire department. The smoke and noise was getting worse and worse and you could see flames, I honestly thought it was going to explode. There's oil and burnt pieces of wire so I'm not sure what happened, the fire department basically said a fire started and the oil in the smoke was sucked in the engine powering it for like 10 minutes. I had it towed to a shop this afternoon and they'll get to it in the next couple days.
I didn't do the cleaning challenge yesterday and didn't follow it exactly today but did at least clean the counters, stovetop, microwave, and fridge. My table has seed starting stuff all over it and I'm getting a couple more indoor lights (recommended by the link I provided) so I didn't want to clean it until I'm done. I did work out today and yesterday though last night if it was white and tasted good with butter it went in my mouth along with the last two shots of my boyfriend's peanut butter whiskey I got him for Christmas. He's been struggling a lot with his health and I can't get there to help him so it's been hard. Meanwhile the neighbors are sending emails wondering why the gate is stuck open which the firemen didn't close so I have to figure out how to get it closed.

Started responding the other day to everyone individually and before I finished I got super busy. Saturday I took off with my kids and brother, we first hiked 6 miles around a lake and then watched dirt track racing! In my previous life I dated a race at driver so my ex husband wouldn’t ever let me go to the races. It was so great to go back after after 14 years! Sunday my daughter and I took my two 5 year old nieces on a hike after church, I didn’t realize it was a 4 mile trail, they were absolute troopers, we hiked every single mile faster than us 4 adults did the day before, including the last two miles that we were rushing through bc we were almost late for the races, even including that final mile that my son and I ran the last .5 of! 🤣 Sunday night I worked 12 hours and was given Monday night off because I had to be here at 7:45 yesterday for orientation and can’t leave until 7 am today. My trainer has asked me to fill in for half a shift tomorrow and I’ll definitely do it since I didn’t work Monday.4

Good morning. I'm no better, no worse. Rich was admitted to the hospital last night, so he's finally in a regular room and we can communicate. I think Rich will be discharged today. They gave him a beta blocker which fixed the a-fib. They did a cat scan and he has a small blood clot in one of his lungs. He will be on blood thinner for 6 months. They gave him prednisone last night and his breathing is normal this morning. Of course that may change once he starts moving around. They are going to do an echo cardiogram today before he can be discharged.

@micaroo4 - Mica, I am thinking about you and Rich this morning. How are you feeling -- on the mend? Wishing improved health for you both.
"Contemplating all the days that I have NOT been sick, and took for granted." - It is so easy to take health for granted.
@trooworld - Every time I read this in one of your posts, I am inspired: "Every choice is another chance to change my health for the better."
Hurray for you No Zero Day! Eating on plan is a great win!
I like your art as well as your crafts. I have a friend who wrote a book about enjoying modern art. It takes a different mindset, maybe? Anyway, I like it, too.
@shaunarlr83 - Your hike and your trip to the races both sound grand! Congrats in the great weigh-in!
@Katmary71 - I will check out Next Level Gardening, though I think remedial gardening is where I should likely start! ;-) (I have a *lot* of work to do in the yard this spring.)
Your car saga sounds horrific. Stephen King territory for sure.
Hurray for your No Zero Days after all that.
@FushiaKat - Hurray for being ready for maintenance mode! Your cactus garden lights look so pretty!
@sleepygirl79 - "need to get it out of my head that just because I burned a bunch of calories, doesn’t mean I need to eat more" Yes, that can be killer! It's easy to overcompensate. Fruit sounds like a great choice -- fiber, vitamins, antioxidants, and fewer calories than many other options.
@vegan4lyfe2012 - Great job holding steady on your weigh-in, especially with all that was going on! Your meal plan sounds delicious! I, too, loveloveLOVE the Celestial Seasonings fruit teas!0 -
I lost my sense of smell completely. I still had a little this morning, but it's completely gone now. 😢5
-
@Katmary71 – I detest all things melon, so I definitely won’t be trying it for you! True Blueberry is another Celestial Seasonings tea, just not a Zinger. I might have to copy you on that IP zinger concoction! "Dude, your car!" (there's a story behind that quote...lemme know if you want to hear it). I had a Dodge Shadow back in the day. It caught on fire like that, too. So scary!

Quick check in to say I went grocery shopping yesterday and stayed in the produce aisle...all except for a container of hummus and guacamole (which were very close to the produce, actually). This is a big deal for someone like me...trying to back away from the processed faux meats and cheeses. Instead I'm going to use more of my TVP (soy protein). I was watching a YouTube guy yesterday that uses Marmite or Vegemite when reydrating it because they have a great deal of umami. He also talked about Dulse. So I hopped onto Amazon and will be getting all 3 on Saturday. Anyone from England or Australia here that can give me any tips?
Oh - and I have foods that would be part of my snackle box...but don't have an actual container that everything would go into, so gotta figure that out. But I've happily been snacking on grape tomatoes, red grapes, raw carrots and broccoli, and hummus. So far so good

@shaunarlr83 You've been super busy, love the workouts with the family! Two five year olds going 4 miles and being troopers is amazing, I'd think they'd be grouchy toward the end.
@trooworld I got to the pain clinic on time which is really surprising with how slow my dad drives, it was basically med refills and we talked about what happens after the MRIs I have next week (psych eval then I see a neurosurgeon). Thanks for the hugs! I'm so glad spring is almost here, I'm trying not to be as bad as last year posting how many days left until spring every other day but it's rained so much this winter that I'm really anxious for it. CA definitely has bad it's share of rain this season but the news is still talking of watering restrictions going into effect.
@micaroo4 Wow Mica, sounds like Rich being admitted was a good thing since they were able to get to the bottom of everything and help out. I hope he's home with you soon and his breathing continues to improve. How are you feeling? I hope your sense of smell is back soon.
@AustinRuadhain Hey I'm sure the gardening link will cover topics you'd be interested in although I didn't see any on things like boosting soil health aside of for specific plants but I tried spraying my tomatoes last year with aspirin to boost their immune systems because o him, that was an interesting idea and of course I didn't to it consistently to know if it helped.
@FushiaKat I love those lights, how pretty!
@Vegan4lyfe2012 Oh yum I didn't realize True Blueberry was a tea, I'll go start a Walmart order with that on it (guess I need a car to do pickup though right?!). I was thinking it was like that lemon flavoring you could put in things like it was a little squeeze bottle of flavor or something. Sure tell me the Dude your car because I felt that! I'm sorry to hear your car did that once too, it's traumatic, I'm still shocked about it. Way to go on the produce trip! I was interested in your post on your feed about TVP, it was on clearance in a bulk bin at Raley's and I bought a bunch when I was eating more vegetarian-type meals but don't know what to do with it now and am curious how you'll be using it.
Hi everyone, hope your week is going well! I got up and was super tired so I went back to sleep for a bit then did my workout and made lunch. Still waiting to hear about my car. I did a little cleaning for the challenge but am not feeling too hot so I cut it short which with rain for the next two weeks I'll probably have to do a lot, I wish there was some way to help that aside of baths and staying in bed but there's not that I've found. Tomorrow's work and I'm trying to find someone to take me to pick up my prescriptions. Have a great Thursday!

@Katmary71 – So I was a bit of a hellion back in my high school days. One Friday night I was at a party out in a subdivision that had large lots. We were all outside on the deck having fun. I was drinking, but not plastered. It was my curfew, so I went home but decided I wanted to go back. I snuck out my bedroom window, put my mom’s car in neutral and pushed it out to the end of the driveway…hopped in and away I went back to the party. The only spot I could find to park was across the road opposite the driveway. About an hour later, someone left the party but didn’t maneuver out of the driveway correctly. Everyone heard the crunch and my best guy friend, Adam (who looked like Slash…gorgeous hair) was so stoned and yelled, “Dude! Your car!” Yup. He was talking to me. Back passenger door completely dented in. No. I did not tell my mom the truth. She thought I had gone to play pool earlier, so I just told her someone at the pool hall backed into me while I was inside and I had no idea who did it. I would say I learned my lesson about sneaking out after that, but I didn’t. That happened when I came home one night to see the foot step under my bedroom window gone, my window shut and locked, and my dad sitting in the living room at 3am waiting for me
1 -
@Katmary71 - Sorry...had to do some actual work. Job always getting in the way of my social life! Back to the TVP... I use crumbles anywhere that I used to use ground beef. I have no problem working with that size. When I rehydrate, I use vegan beef bullion along with McCormick's Grillmates seasoning. Then I might mix it with Manwich to make Sloppy Jose's. Or I'll add taco seasoning. Or I'll add it to a tomato sauce for pasta or veggies. I'm good with soy curls, too, using vegan chix bullion and soul seasoning. Mainly use those for either chix salad or fajitas (fajita seasoning and fajita oil). Are those the types of ideas you were looking for? Or am I way off the mark? Oh - and rehydration ratio is 1:1 (Boil water and seasonings, turn off heat, add tvp, cover for 10 minutes. Ready to use!)
So to everyone, my problem are the large chunks of TVP. Trying to get those to mimic, say, steak. For things like a beefy stir fry or "steak" sandwich. Those types of recipes. I'm going to do some experimenting with the vegemite and marmite. I was hoping for notes from the peanut gallery, but y'all are letting me down! Hahaha
Anyway, I'm still doing good with the food choices. I haven't even glanced at the vending machine in days
We'll see how it goes tomorrow night when Hunter and I go watch Scream 6. I'm debating on sneaking in hummus and carrots! Hahaha! Anyone else planning on watching it opening weekend? After that, 65 is on my list. Who doesn't love Adam Driver, amiright? Toodles!

If I could vent a bit. I've never been an athlete. I don't know how to build confidence, discipline or motivation. I scour the internet and YouTube looking for useful help. I'm tired of being fat. I'm tired of being tired. Through the years I've looked into trainers and I cannot fathom how people can afford them.
I'll stop complaining.

@19shmoo69 You've been in this group for a long time, that's discipline right there so you've had it and tricked yourself! I'm serious if you'd really quit you wouldn't still be here. This comes from a long time of me being a people pleaser and being insecure but you're an amazing person who deserves to be happy, think of the things that would make your life better and start working toward those, you don't have to do it perfectly just work toward it. I think that's where some of the confidence came from for me was accepting I'd never look how I want or be 100% healthy but I wanted to make the time I have left better and actually put some effort into not dying for a change. At least for me I "do" get more energy working out but it took awhile to get that far of consistent workouts and pushing through the exhaustion. I said a lot more but deleted it as it's not coming out right, I'm glad you're still here and trying, it inspires me when I see you posting again after it's been awhile that you find your way back.
@vegan4lyfe2012 I'm glad you told me the story, I was wondering what happened to your car! I had one of those too, we were partying down the street with the neighborhood bully and one of his friends backed his van into my poor Honda, he tried to get away and was peeling my car with him so I was in the street screaming to make him stop. Good thing we didn't go to school together, we may not have survived! You understood what I was wondering about TVP, thanks!
@trooworld I saw it's raining for you too, you'd think we'd be out of the drought after this winter but they're talking weather restrictions already for spring. I'm reading a large print book my Mom's friend lent her and I have to say it's pretty awesome to see what it says without issues but I'm turning the page constantly, it's a big book because the print's real big (Dolly Parton James Patterson) Run Rose Run. Like all of Patterson's it's a fast and easy read though. Yes reading in a recliner in the yard sounds wonderful! We'll pretend no allergies right?!
Hi team I'm just saying hi real fast, we have a bad storm going through and I broke a micro current attachment that would calm my nervous system a bit so I'm kind of a hot mess. Bill's in the hospital with pancreatitis and they're going to run some other tests, it's sad as he kept going to the ER and getting sent home and he's been in horrible pain. Hope you all have a great Friday!

Hi everyone!
I did a brief scroll trying to catch up a bit.
Congratulations to everyone who has had a loss this past week and to all of those hanging in there.
Ive been MIA due to traveling. Ive been busy with the new home here, catching up with friends and keeping up with the stridekick challenge. Thanks @JenAWhite!!! It’s the best ever to keep me going.
My calories have been ok but my food choices, well hmmm 🤔 my lovely neighbors and friends have sent so many pastries, cakes, cookies and invites to meals, that it’s been a challenge to stay within calories. It’s been small amounts, sometimes bites of things just to try and then say yum.
Im leaving tomorrow, so I will be back on track Sunday or Monday. I’ll be able to do a proper catch up.
Cheering everyone on though!4 -
I need to come to say I need some motivation. I’m falling into my old snacking habits again. I’m packing lunches that are good, but after supper I’m struggling. I feel I do well most of the day, then blow it around 9pm. I don’t want this! Advice?!3

I feel good about this last week. I hope I can keep it up this week. I don't have any parties or wild plans this week. Thank goodness, after last weekend, I don't want to drink (shots) again. I just want to keep it casual.
I went through everyone's posts, @trooworld @txcritter69 you two have some serious talent. Your crafts are beautiful and, it made decide to pick up my crochet again.
I made some good food choices this past week, but the best was today. I made honey mustard air fried pork chops (skinnytaste.com), broccoli & cheddar rice a Roni (I know, lol, I know) and roasted Brussel sprouts with a balsamic glaze. Omg, this was so good and even the hubby said, it was 😋 delicious.
I want to thank @JenAWhite for the stridekick challenges. They have given me some much needed motivation.
Tomorrow, I'm going to get one of my grand beauties and keep her for a few days. I'm hoping the weather will cooperate enough to at least go walking. There is a shopping trip coming so, we can find something fun to do together.
Y'all have a great evening/day.

@sleepygirl79 first try a big glass of water, you may be needing more hydration. Also, try having set snacks.
I keeps cucumber and celery around for those moments. I’ll put a tbsp of ranch in a dish to dip.
My favorite is kallo thin corn cakes (under 25 cal) with a tsp of philly cream cheese and a sprinkling of everything bagel seasoning. It’s crispy, salty and snacky. Sometimes, if I have a sweet craving I’ll put some jam with the cream cheese or do some pb.
I also space my meals and try to keep around 240 and under. It gives me 2 snacks in the day. I have bfast around 7-8, morning snack at 11:30, lunch at 2:30, dinner at 7:30 and still have space for a snack when the mood hits and it always does. Now I am having some smoked salmon and a small piece of german pretzel (guilty pleasure when in town). I stopped breads but have had some since traveling. I can attest that I don’t feel as well and have more cravings since having bready carbs again.
Hope this gives you some ideas.2 -

@19shmoo69 - Your post really tugged at my ❤️. I've been at this a long time, and I've been successful for over 20 years now. Even though I'm on maintenance, I'm never out of the woods. Please don't read that as discouraging; I say it so you'll know that we are all in this together, no matter how far down the road we've come. My own journey started by just trying to make peace with fruits and vegetables, adding them to every meal or snack. I made vegetable soup and ate it every day. My daily workout started as a 10 minute walk. I would walk out the door, walk for 5 minutes (checking my watch the whole time) and then turn around and walk home. Don't waste money on a trainer. It's not like exercise will contribute that much to your weight loss, but getting outside in the fresh air will clear your head, and having done some exercise does motivate you to eat better. Food is the key to success. Exercise is just an accessory. Don't strive to be perfect, just better. Incremental changes every day. Fat and food are holding you prisoner. Your digging a tunnel to freedom with a teaspoon. Love and Hugs

Happy Friday, all!
@davidji82 - I am so sorry about the cold. Hang in there!
@trooworld - Congratulations on your No Zero day yesterday! And woohoo to the great weigh-in! Let us know how your husband is doing. That sounds scary, especially with his not going to urgent care (yet).
@Cornanda - Hurray to that great weigh-in!
@19shmoo69 - I will chime in here to agree with @KatMary71 -- you are already a very determined person. It sounds like you are having a rough patch. Hang in there, and give yourself credit for the effort you have been putting into your health.
@DrewsAnna - Hurray for that great weigh-in!
@sleepygirl79 - I so sympathize with the late night snack monster. For me, what works is a bright line -- "the kitchen closes at 7." After that, herbal tea. I sometimes scoot in at 6:45 for a tablespoon of sugarfree peanut butter if I think I am going to get too hungry. Your mileage may totally vary. I am just offering what works for me.
@AmbersWay - Thanks for checking in! Safe travels!
@KatMary71 - I am glad you now have a name for why Bill has been hurting. Good for him for being persistent about going to the ER.
@GabiV125 - Hurray for your whoosh!
@vegan4lyfe2012 - Thank you for sharing your story about being a teenage hellion. It's impressive and charming!
(I was the opposite. My dad apologized later He hadn't appreciated how easy I was. My sister made him reassess his assessment of me as a teenager. The only car I dented was due to either (A) a sticky accelerator or (B) my bad driving, depending on which of us you asked. My neighbor's tree stood right behind our driveway and I gave it *ahem* a bit of a bump one day. The tree was fine, so all was good.)
I have been playing the No Zeros game all week. It's great!

@ftofit - Hurray for that great weigh-in!
I just got through a busy morning. My schedule has been.. not what I thought it would be, but I did get in an 18-minute walk so far, and I upped my water. Working on the No Zeros!3 -
@AmbersWay It sounds like you've been having a good time, the food is always so tricky when away but love that you kept up the stridekick challenge. Safe travels!
@sleepygirl79 If you're blowing it at night look at if you're eating too little calories at dinner or throughout the day. What about planning to allow some sort of treat after dinner so it's a healthy snack? Yasso bars are great for that or any other lower calorie snack. I kind of wean myself off snacking like go to fruit and yogurt from what I'm eating that's unhealthy then from there go back to no snacking. I've had a lot of success with tea after dinner, I brush my teeth then have herbal tea and it's kind of my “done eating for the day” thing.
@DrewsAnna Yum your food sounds awesome, I need to find that pork chop recipe! Edited to add I just saw it in my email, I'm definitely trying this one. Have a wonderful time with your grand beauty.
@micaroo4 I love your message to 19shmoo69 and agree with you, great advice.
@trooworld I can still use the micro current machine but not the ear clip, I'm going to take it with me to my parent's house Sunday to see if my Dad can fix it as it's an expensive accessory for needing a new one because of the clip. Oh no your poor husband! I agree with you that he should go, tell him your Fat2Fit crew says GO NOW!!!!
Let us know what it is, thinking of him.
@AustinRuadhain Thank you! Wonderful no zeros!
@vegan4lyfe2012 Congratulations to you and your son, way to go! He looks very handsome too!
Hi everyone! I didn't get much sleep but though I started the day only planning to go from the bed to couch to bed but my coffee charged me up a bit and I worked out and did some cleaning. Bill's still in the hospital, his phone died and I couldn't understand anything but that his pain medication was increased so at least he's not suffering. I'm trying to get some charity secretary stuff done before my HOA meeting tomorrow but am waiting to hear from two people before sending out the Minutes and trying not to lose my temper. My new lighting for my seedlings came but I don't have anything to clamp them on the table to that's on the list, I need some solo cups for my tomatoes too which will be in my pickup tomorrow. I made skinnytaste sweet potato black bean bowls which were real good. Did the cleaning challenge too but didn't finish the room. Have a great Saturday team!
