As I read thru the posts, I'm reminded AGAIN that pre-logging really works - worked for me before and I must return to it. Full days - my boss gave her notice and in 2 weeks it'll be just me and fortunately some consultants SHE hired to support me & the office - the bosses upstairs really screwed up by letting my overworking boss feel the need to leave. I'm not SO stressed about it - I can only do what I can do. Anybody else bring their lunch to work and eat it before 10am? that's me often. I do have the pickle snacks going but must rein all else in.
@jugar speaking of reins, I hope your big spotted four legged friend arrives safe & sound.5 -
@eggfreak
Are you a breakfast eater or no?
I eat my breakfast around 6 so by 9-10 I usually feel hungry. I generally have a small snack planned to get me through to lunch.4 -
Well, I put my walk on the calendar and started down the street when my phone rang. I realized I had forgotten I had a call with my financial planner! So I headed back so I could focus. I give myself an A for effort and planning, though!5

Well @jugar and @LoraineGB I hadn't seen your posts about the perfect day until tonight but guess what? I joined you ladies.
Got up, started the day with water, tracked all my food, hit 10K steps, no alcohol.. it felt good. I also had mega terrible work stress and was near tears on the way home (with no one there to console me as everyone is travelling) and I didn't choose to soothe with food.
Hooray!
YESSSS!!! I am so glad to hear this. You will feel SO much better getting through stressful days when you don't drown it in calories. Of course you know that. But remember you "get to" eat healthy delicious food instead of "deprive yourself" of the easy brain thrill of those foods we can't stop eating. You get to enjoy time on the Peloton even after dinner if you haven't had any any alcohol or overeaten. Hopefully the worries of the day will calm down for a good sleep, or at least they won't include the feeling of failure we get from succumbing to eating all the foods. Join us for another great day today! I'm still going with it and feel much better after 2 really good days with no flour and stuff. There was a bit of ice cream... but measured and logged and not continuing until the thing was empty!
Everyone is welcome to enjoy today's perfect day6 -
@eggfreak and @ashleycarole86
Breakfast timing. Even though I'm retired, I still eat breakfast first thing (around 7 these days). I wake up and get up because I'm hungry, so there is no way I'm waiting! Then I am indeed hungry by 10:30. Most days I try to drink a big glass of water and just do some things until at least 11:30 - but sometimes it is too much and I have a snack. Usually that will be raw fruit (clementines, berries, or apple), sometimes plus an add-on that is a bit more substantial (a small smear of nut butter). Sometimes an ounce of cheese or a few nuts. Just enough to get me through to lunchtime, not necessarily to sate my hunger. Lunch is pre-planned or I end up making it too big very easily. If I'm working hard or doing a workout before making dinner (usual), another snack can happen.
Long answer about brief question, but planning for those hungry times helps a lot! Wandering into the kitchen with a growling tummy is a really bad idea...6 -

Oh, such great updates!
I had a stressful day today that made me think I was in the Twilight Zone. Anybody remember that TV show? I drove one of the “Meals on Wheels” lunch delivery routes which covers many more miles than two other routes I’ve covered so far…it seemed like an invisible force held my car by the tail pipe to hold me back! I’m glad I had time at the pool to recuperate my equilibrium before going home.
I made a simple supper of brocoli, pasta sauce, thin spaghetti, and some grated cheese. I managed to keep dessert to a dull roar with some coffee iced cream and homemade fudge sauce.
I had just one serving of dinner as well as one of dessert. It felt good to gently remind future me that I can do this!
Time to sleep. It’s been a long day.4 -

@ashleycarole86 I do eat breakfast and often early. Then yes, it's second breakfast around 10 or so. I just need to bring more things to eat into work- healthy things. Today I'm in trouble - have run out eggs - horror of horrors. But I'll pack up some pickles, some roasted red peppers and have some very nice ripe tomatoes.

Only a small loss this week, I thought it was going to be a good week as I got down to 145.0 twice over last weekend, but I've been letting my hair down too much in the evenings and the calories have been adding up. I need to find some discipline from somewhere!6 -
Another perfect day today. What about you @jugar, @ashleycarole86 , how’s your day going?
CONGRATULATIONS to you all for those perfect days! We know they are not easy, so good for all of you. I pre-logged yesterday, but never updated it. I was weak and ate a school cupcake. It wasn't nearly as satisfying as I imagined it would be. Should have had a glass of water first.
I haven't logged yet today but will soon. Still searching to find my footing and get myself back on track. Motivation is lacking, discipline is low. But I know I can't give up on it. So one thing I will do is log my food today, drink some water and take a little walk.

I ended with Taco Bell..... and that's FINE if I was within my plan, but I went over.
BUT, I tracked it. Yes, I was over, but it could have gone much worse. The fact I owned up to it in my diary rather than saying screw it also proved it was much less than I thought calorie-wise.6 -
So today I ate unplanned sweeties at work. They ‘updated’ the bowl and while in the past five weeks there have been no sweets I like, that all changed today. We now have Swedish fish and taffy, ugh - more discipline needed.
We went to eat at Qdoba tonight and they were out of veggies, beans and shrimp so we ended up in a bar and I had a Ruben. That’s a bad choice when you weigh in the next morning but I have had a good week for exercise and food up to today.
@micki48 How about we have a Track Friday tomorrow? Pre track what you can and then update as you go for any additionals - Good, Bad and Ugly… who is in?3 -
@LoraineGB I like the idea of Track Friday! Often I go a bit doolally on Fridays after weighing in - so yeah. That would be useful.
Good Bad and Ugly tracking it is! We're having a pretty green week on the team, so let's build more of those4 -

Oh! I have a receipt for ripe tomatoes for you to try. Chop 2 hardboiled eggs; add 1 or more cut up ripe tomatoes; stir in cut celery for more crunch, sprinkle with tumeric, mix together with either 1/4 avocado or 1 tsp mayo (or less - seriously, the tomatoes provide plenty of moisture). I also added a bit of ground pepper and salt. It tasted so good that I didn't want anything else when I had it for lunch a few weeks ago.
I know that drinking water prior to eating can help us decrease food intake but I recently read something by a dietician. Considering that water zips right through the stomach to the "water system", it's better to eat "watery food", like soup or breakfast with additional yogurt or "loose" food...you get the idea. If we give our digestion something to work on, it helps us feel full longer.
Today, I had "2nd brekky" for my actual lunch. A friend treated me to a serving of her mom's favorite Italian scrambled eggs with a slice of baguette and it was just enough.
I roasted a whole chicken tonight and ate leftovers of broccoli, pasta, sauce, and grated parmesan. I let myself fall into a serving of ice cream again afterwards but will avoid it until Monday. At least, that's the plan.
Have a great night everyone.
Can't wait to hear how you all are doing.
Sleep well!

Hey all!
Well after my Taco Bell mishap last night, things were back on track today!
I had a catered lunch and ice cream for dinner to deal with, but I fit it in.
And for those of you wondering... ice cream for dinner is somehow on track?
Well, not by traditional standards.. but at the same time, I've always been of the mindset that as long as it fits in my calories, I can eat it.
So, my frustration comes through overeating, not by making poor nutritional choices.
Yes, it's better to eat within, and to eat well (and I'll feel fuller, and so on..) BUT, every day I am under, I'm happy.
I also got my 10K steps, managed stress well... yeah, today is a success.
Oh, and it was a green week! HOORAY!! I mean.. a tiny loss... but after multiple red weeks in a row, I needed that win.
Time to make it two in a row. I'm derailing a lot on the weekends so then I have to fight against that gain all week... want to get out of that pattern.
@jugar
Brad has been on the road since Tuesday.. earliest he'll be able to weigh in is Saturday.. just wanted you to know why he was late as he has been flat out.5 -
Good old "doolally"! It is originally from an army base, sanatorium, and transit camp in a town called Doelali in India under the Brits - it means out of your mind, and it's still used in the UK - not sure where it is the most popular, but I love that word. Very useful!
OK - my exercise bits for you @ashleycarole86 - can't remember if I put in yesterday, so here it is maybe again -
Wednesday 7177 steps + 20 strength + 45 bike
Thursday 10177 + 30 Pilates + 30 bike
It's Friday Eve! Already Friday for our UK members. So are you ready?

@micki48 definitely not pregnant - that all went on hold for the foreseeable. Just PMS exacerbating what is already a stressful time. Those roses are beautiful.
@eggfreak I have to have snacks with me because otherwise I am starving and stomach rumbling by 11am. At the moment, I'm having (expensive! I wince every time I buy them) protein bars, but they are convenient for taking out and about rather than say yoghurt and berries. If I don't have a snack, I'm far more likely to choose larger portions or foods with a higher fat/sugar content at lunch. Also, regular eating (of the right foods) can help to balance blood sugar levels; in my case this is important for energy levels.
@ashleycarole86 You did brilliantly to not resolve work stress with food.
I've also been struggling with work stress, for months really, but I almost had a panic attack in the office on Wednesday. A lovely co-worker (a 'know of' rather than a 'work with') listened to my troubles and gave me some great advice which I have followed. She also helped me to understand that it's not just about me, but that my gut is telling me that going through with the situation would be a bad commercial decision. I managed not to break down in the office, but I did on a call with my manager when I got home, and she's doing what she can to alleviate some of the issues. I am on the cusp of calling the doctor to see about medication, because I have all of the tools and no bandwidth to use them. Such a scary thing to do though. Work isn't the only problem, but it's the biggest one I think.
I did succumb to McDonalds on Wednesday evening (I even paid the delivery fee, which was 40% on top of the food price!) but I avoided going to the shop and buying all-the-things. I dodged the shop last night too, which means any comfort eating has been limited to what we have in the house and therefore much reduced, which is why I think my gain this week was neither here nor there. I've also managed to get my 5k steps in Tues/Weds/Thurs, despite my back still playing up.
Today I am going to survive work until 12.30, then we have a bank holiday on Monday so it's a long weekend. We have couples therapy this evening which means fast food, and we have a friend staying tomorrow night so there's a couple extra chores on the to-do list. An 'exciting' chore though - I'm washing and reproofing our winter coats ready to put them away. Always feels like a milestone.6 -

My net calorie average this week was 1,636, which is good because my dietician told me to put in 1,500, but aim to stay under 1,700. She was totally right that it was a mental thing when I had my goals set for 1,700, but I was actually consuming around 1,900 a day.
I have also worked out every day this week, which is a first for me in a very long time! I have stuck to setting my alarm between 5 and 5:30 am, having my cup of coffee, then getting to work out. I did a morning gym class on Tuesday and a morning spin class on Wednesday. On Monday, Thursday, and today, I’ve been doing Sydney Cummings Houdyshell’s Summertime Fine Tier 1 workouts, and if I don’t have the full 40-45 minutes to complete them, I do what I can because it’s about consistency. I feel so good knowing I’ve been showing up for myself to take care of my fitness. Saturday I am taking a spin class so that I don’t lose out on one of my passes that I have already paid for and Sunday I have my hot yoga class which is a good workout because we do a lot of planks and ab work there. That’ll mean my totals for the week will be 270 intentional workout minutes, which is much better than last week.
Tomorrow we have a BBQ with friends so I’m going to mentally prep myself to be mindful of my portions but still have fun with my friends and husband! We’re also planning on more yard work and house work this weekend since it’s a holiday weekend here in the States.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!6 -

I made it to all 3 of my exercise events this week. Also had my second ADHD therapy session and she has assigned me time tracking homework. I'm currently breaking the rules of said homework by catching up on posts etc while I should be working.
I'm supposed to figure out a planner system that I can use, but that I can also coordinate better with my spouse, as communication about each of our 'wish lists' for the day is one of our problems. We finish work at 3pm most days and dinner is around 6pm, with scheduled activities after (hockey, pickleball etc). The problem comes that we both have ideas what we want to accomplish between 3 and 6pm each day, usually that require the presence of the other person, but don't inform said person in advance so they can mentally adjust their own priority list. There ends up being too much Him: "But I wanted to do this..." Me: "but you didn't tell me that..." whilst in the car running errands that always take longer than expected and causes problems with planned meals, etc.
Whiteboards with daily wish lists in central locations of the house have been suggested. We're (he's) not great with cell phone apps and shared calendars as his hands are so big he has trouble typing on the tiny screen. Otherwise a shared google calendar with a running list could work. Anyone have tips or tricks that work?
K, back to time management.... Today's 3-6pm list includes shopping for easily grabbable food for this weekend as we will hopefully finish our shed build. Floor is done, frame is up, we need to frame out the slanted roof and close the walls.
Wish me luck!

Wow! What a lot of great energy - healing, building, sweating, showing up for ourselves. I am feeling that stuff running through me just reading about it. Take a bow, people. You are amazing.
@DD265 BIG BIG hugs flying your way. Getting to the melt-down panic attack stage is not fun, but it sure helps concentrate your power on helping yourself. Those uncomfortable awful places, if we don't run away from them but sit with them and learn, are certainly not feel-good places, but they let us know what we have to do. You are listening! You are getting help, and you are not drowning yourself in food. That is three really big achievements. Hang in there
@PlaneMonkey I love the idea of communicating those expectations by white board, but a shared calendar with tasks on it helps too. One worry, though - those guys with big fingers (I've got too...) don't seem to contribute to the online calendar thing too much - unless yours is more of a collaborator than mine! I think a white board is a great idea, and then there are no excuses for putting things on there and making it clear. More than one might be too crazy. They are portable
@wishfuljune you are on fire!!3 -
I'm very happy this morning - and thanks to you inspiring people helping keep me on track, I'm back into my maintenance weight zone for the first time in a while. I hope to stay back in that box! I feel so much better. Muscle definition is happening which at my age, is pretty danged cool
So thanks! I just finished pre-tracking the things I know for sure I'm going to eat today, and have some options for the remaining calories. Usually I let weigh-in day be a free-for-all, but NOT TODAY. The slippery slope has been too easy to jump onto, and I'm going to try to walk away from it for a while.4
