Welcome @cortexarticle8797 to the team!! Glad you found us! Please take a few minutes and introduce yourself and tell us a little about what you're hoping for in the coming months. I'm one of your two captains and @pupowl is the other captain. Our wonderful Motivator @PatriceFitnessPal and all of us hope you find the team to be a source of inspiration and motivation as you work towards your goals.
Just a recommendation, go back to pg one of this chat thread and read our FAQ file which should answer a lot of your basic questions. Anything not found there, just ask in the chat and someone is bound to chime in. Can't wait to celebrate your milestones with ya!! Good luck in July!

Thank you! It is mainly my diet - what I am eating and when I am eating. I have been checking ingredients on foods I buy/consume. Most meals have been made at home. I'm making efforts to stay hydrated and being aware if what I am feeling is hunger, thirst, or tiredness. I knew that I could confuse hunger and thirst. Something I learned about myself is that I can reach for food when I am exhausted. I recently bought a new smartwatch - a Garmin. It has this Body Battery feature. I recall one day a few weeks ago, I felt exhausted. The body battery on the Garmin was at 5 (that is the lowest it goes for me so far). I finished watering my garden - it was late evening. There were still a few chores I wanted to do before bed. Then I thought, 'I'm hungry.' I caught myself eating mindlessly - probably past the serving size. My curious mind went online and I did some reading on body signals on being tired vs hungry. Mind blown. So now when I'm feeling hungry, I reflect on what my body needs: water, rest, or food.
I appreciate your positive words because when I looked at my numbers, I thought to myself they would better and at my goal if I was more active and hitting my exercise goals. I'll get there. Work in progress. Progress > Perfection.
I've got to give myself grace and be happy for the small changes I've made. I am finding balance in overcoming my procrastination (ie pushing myself), coping with my health challenges, and getting proper rest.5 -

steps:
6/23 14,421
6/24 13,730
6/25 10,720
6/26 12,816
Unfortunately, we've had more forest fire smoke the past few days and more is coming this week, so we haven't been outside much and my steps are lower. I did a step class on youtube yesterday to try to get some steps in and I have hockey indoors tonight.5 -

TLDR version = Overcoming small setbacks can be good for us — it makes it easier to overcome bigger ones in the future!
Today, I’m dedicating my lunch time to drive my (younger) son to work. He takes the Metro (Tube, Subway, T, etc.) but the timing works out for me to drive him on my way to a meeting, which saves him a lot of time since he won’t have to walk 15 minutes to the train station. The direct train line also takes a more roundabout route, but it’s sometimes just easier not to transfer. So, it will take us about 15-20 minutes to get there instead of the usual 50 minutes for him. It’s been really humid so the ride will feel more comfortable, too.
He applied for a few internships this summer. He only got a call for one interview and he thought it went well, but he wasn’t selected. He had worked in their Boston office last summer, and his supervisors encouraged him to apply to the Washington, DC office this year, but they ended up hiring a couple of other applicants. They offered him a position in the Boston office again but he wanted to try something new and spend more time with his local friends this year.
Maybe he can apply for the internship again next year. He decided to add another major, which means he’ll likely need to extend his time at the university by another semester. So, I’m sure it will all work out in the end. He was disappointed he wasn’t hired for the job (that he sort of expected he’d get), but I was glad to see him persevere.
He’s taking an online summer class and he went to an interview on Friday — and he was hired! So, he started his new job yesterday. It’s going to be challenging work (outdoors in the heat, long hours, late shifts, pressure to raise money for the cause/environmental projects), and he’ll be busy balancing his online class and work, but the job is related to his environmental major so I think it will be good experience.
Most of you know what I’m going to add next 🥁🪘🥁 … That’s right! — Fall down seven times, get up eight! (My favorite samurai expression for the new comers — welcome!!)5 -

I've been coasting lately. Not really focused on what I need to do weight loss wise, but also not completely off the rails. Time to rein it back in and get back to basics. I recommitted to measuring and tracking every bite (at least for a few weeks) and even though it's only been a day, I can already see the serving size/calorie creep. I should also be in the chat more as I am hitting the app tracking my food.
I am very close to some pretty major milestones and I'm going to use them to motivate me.
Today's weight 205
50 pounds 204.6 - 0.4 to go to reach it
Onderland 199.8 - 5.2 to go
Overweight instead of Obese (BMI 29.9) 196.6 - 8.4 to go
@Cyncia85 - beautiful pictures from your walk - those stairs would have had me saying no. (or maybe, is there a different way?)
@jessicakrall8 - Way to go on the steps!!!
@JScottJr1988, @cortexarticle8797 - Welcome
@Walela617 - Welcome back
@Jlswensen - love the quote
@JenHul - hope your head is feeling better today6 -

There is a different way. Many other parking lots around that forest preserve. I chose that one for the stairs.
I'm rooting for you as you reach your milestones!!!3 -
