Good morning Shape Shifters. My first day back to tracking food went well. I actually stuck to the food plan instead of going to the store for random unhealthy stuff. Probably ate half the calories that I have been eating for several months, but I wasn't really struggling. I mostly eat because I am bored, or because it is there. I try to eat between 10:15 and 16:45 because it helps with not overeating. If I eat when I get up at 6:30, I will for sure have run out of planned food way before the day is over. Also jigsaw puzzles are great when it isn't time for the next meal yet. I just sit down and in the blink of an eye a whole hour has passed. Very useful!
I set up my mosquito net last night and I slept well. It wasn't really annoying me as I feared and it's just nice to be able to have windows open and lights on to read or do sudoko before bed without worrying about all the bugs flying inside. Happy Saturday everyone6 -

Weigh Day: Saturday

Woohoo! Finally broke the plateau! My weight has been between 209 & 210 each day this week, so I do t think it’s a one off loss. So excited as this is the first time I’ve been below 210 since early 2016. Really thankful for this inspiring group of people that are all working to be their best.

Saturday, 5862 in steps today. Feeling slightly better today but still kinda tired, due to my parathyroid. I know I've got several medical issues going on but I always forget that if my parathyroid is off just slightly in any direction, I get tired and my energy diminishes quicker. But it can affect my other health issues as well, as it showed up this week. Any endocrine issue can affect other health issues, directly or indirectly.5

Congrats on your weight loss!! Way to be committed and an inspiration to everyone!
Great job @Pupowl getting back into the food diary! One step at a time and pretty soon you’ll look back and see those steps have made some great results!
@nancyinmo thanks for sharing your story! You have had great success and I love how you found an exercise that your passionate about and that essentially keeps you accountable since you have people relying on
you. The social aspect to being an instructor is so great to, I’m sure people you teach help to motivate you as well!

@Zaxa2021 How are you feeling? You are doing a great job! Remember to give yourself lots of positive affirmations. Being a mom of toddlers is exhausting, rewarding and fun but still exhausting. You regularly chat with us, share your steps, share your weight loss and share your struggles. You are clearly committed! Just keep sharing and celebrating each day for the successes it holds, because they are there—sometimes we just have to look deeper.

Let me catch you all up—
I went to a giant water park last week and since it was chilly and overcast is wasn’t busy. That was awesome but also meant that I kept climbing up to those giant monstrosity slides over and over and over again since there were barely any waits. I didn’t have my phone on me so I didn’t track those steps but as my body is still feeling it, I can assure you that there were a lot. I did everything my kids did, match their energy, and I have had a incredibly sore neck and arms for a week now to prove it.
I allowed my soreness to derail my weekly step goal. I know from the past when I am sore, movement helps, but when I did go out, I felt so drained and exhausted I stopped early.
Next— my husband and I threw a giant campout sleepover for my daughters birthday and we had 15 kids over. I made cupcakes and muffins and we had pizza and s’mores and for the two days I binged on whatever I saw as I was running by and did a lot of mindless eating. The kids had a fantastic time, but my body is feeling it after only sleeping at max three hours on an air mattress outside and eating like crap. (@Bearchested I can totally commiserate with you! Darn birthday parties! 🥴🤣)
So… @Pupowl you're my inspiration this
week. Reading your posts about food diaries and recording resonated me. I need to jump right back into it today! We will all have things that derail us, but the important thing is that we get back on that train.
I am accepting that my weigh-in tomorrow will be a gain, but it’s temporary and I have the tools and the determination to turn it around.6 -
@Cyncia85 I switched to a sedentary job three years ago and two of those years I was completing my masters, so I know all about not having time to move around. This year though, since May I have put my activity as a priority. I wake up earlier and I go for a walk before work and try to get at least 4 to 5000 steps before I work. Then I eat (pre-packed) lunch at my desk, but I use my break to go get at least a 30 minute walk. I wear dress clothes so I keep gym shoes in my office now. And in the evenings, or right after work, whichever one works, I walk again.
It takes planning and commitment, but now it’s become my routine and it feels good mentally too. I shared an article a couple weeks ago that said a 15 minute nature walk reduces brain fatigue and I have definitely noticed that benefit when I’m working at my desk and feeling drained.
Hope that helps!
