So, I started the 75 hard. Had a couple days of I'm over this when I hurt my ankle. But, realized I could still do it with a sore ankle as long as I modified my workouts. So, after a couple down days, I decided to pick it back up on Friday. I'm on day 5 and it's getting easier.
I know we are through August, but I wasn't able to get online until today. So here are my step counts and exercise even though they don't count towards September.
Sunday, 8/27: 5,362 steps - walking through airports after completing Hood to Coast
Monday, 8/28: 6,438 steps, league bowling
Tuesday, 8/29: 6,206 steps, 1 hour CrossFit
Wednesday, 8/30: 6,258 steps, league bowling
Thursday, 8/31: 4,671 steps
Friday, 9/1: 5,068 steps, 48 minutes spin, 1 hour CrossFit
Saturday, 9/2: 8,508 steps, 50 minutes spin, 2.2 mile walk
My name is Jolene. I am 38 years old and I live in SW Colorado with my husband and two dogs - a 50 lb rescue named Mia and a 100+ lb chocolate lab named Loki. Most days I call them Chaos and More Chaos. It is starting to feel a bit like fall. It was in the mid 40s when I went to CrossFit this morning! A couple months ago I hit my all-time high weight around 190lbs (I am only 5'3"). I could feel it in my joints, the lack of energy, hard breathing at the top of stairs, and I really didn't like what I saw in pictures or the mirror. So, I committed to myself by getting on MFP and joining this group. It really has been a life changer!
My goals are: weight - 135ish, steps - average of 6,000/day, workouts - 4+/week. For the last 5 days and the next 70, my goal is to commit to myself enough to stick with the 75 hard. I am doing the 75 hard with a coworker. Luckily, we have the same work conflicts at the same time, so we have already agreed that we can pause for a few days while out of town on a work trip. Normally, with the 75 hard if you miss a day, you have to start over. We are disregarding this rule for the work event.
@IDebraK - I am a little over 5’3” all of the “calculators” say I should be 115-120lbs. This is not realistic for me. My goal is somewhere between 130-140. Like you, I need a weight range. When I drop much below that 130, I look ill. People tend to ask me if I am eating. I know that is not what is good for me. So, kudos to you realizing the “calculators” aren’t always right and picking the correct goal for you.@wishfuljune - I have never experienced fall in New England, but I imagine it is similar to fall in the southern part of the Rocky Mountains. The Aspen trees are gorgeous! So lucky that you get to experience that beauty in New England as well! Also, yes, yes, yes to all the amazing autumn things you mentioned. It is my favorite season by far.
Lastly, for the new people - welcome! You joined an awesome group! It definitely will help you with your goals.
OK - rant done. Well, not really. I second the YAY to autumn - it is so gorgeous. But we have to get through this heat wave! What the heck? I just drove down from Québec to Massachusetts, and I about roasted in my old car with no air conditioning. I like old school windows open, but today was not feeling too good. And I didn't get much exercise. AND I had a terrible lunch that had no vegetables, but it was all they had and I could not stop again. This all = me grumpy. Luckily, arriving in time to spend a couple of hours with my 96 year-old dad cheered me up. He was so happy to see me and he remembered that I was the daughter that lives in Canada. And that my horse had stepped on my foot and broken my toe just before the last time I visited. He was remembering all kinds of little odd things today, so it was good to be there for that. I'll get back to the exercise and good eating tomorrow.
So glad you survived the tubing adventure @Gidgitgoescrzy ! Holy moly. That sounds both amazing and seriously scary. Hugs to you!

Happy Tuesday, Lovelies,
I'm Evelyn - I live near the Connecticut River in Windsor, Vermont with 3 cats and my 3rd-spouse (a.k.a. Other Half, Sarah.) We cat-sat this weekend for my older daughter and took a few walks, talking about how to help each other get in better shape, eat more vegetarian meals, and all the things. I had to laugh that shortly after that conversation, we walked to the high-end General Store 1/2 mile away and had a chocolate eclair with our coffee. Good grief! We didn't even walk an entire mile before "rewarding" our efforts with something as decadent and delicious (in-house made and fabulously light, all things considered) as that. Sigh. We definitely need to raise the bar!
I currently weigh 188 lbs. which is close enough to my highest weight (198 in 2019 - probably closer to 205 tops but I didn't weigh myself at that point). This month (my birthday is this Friday), I intend to get to 185. If I make it a tad lower, I'll be satisfied. In order to do that, I plan to use my mini-elliptical and/or take walks with Sarah after work. I'll also get set up to do 20-30 minute exercise videos 2-3x/week.
I also plan to check in with you more often...perhaps even every day. I *know* it helps to stay in touch with you, my support team. Why I don't is the point of another discussion another day...got to figure it out, first.
Have a great Wednesday tomorrow and I'll see you soon.6 -

I can only imagine what the Rocky Mountains must look like; I am sure it is beautiful. 😊
Happy Wednesday morning all! Today’s plan is to complete a strength workout and do some more cleaning around the house - I’m thinking continuing with the bathroom. I finally ordered us a bathroom storage cabinet that should be arriving soon so that we can move more of our bathroom things into the actual bathroom and not in boxes in a spare bedroom. 😂
I also have my dog going to daycare today, and when he goes, I usually don’t take him for a walk because he runs around there. It does make it more difficult for me to reach my step goal, so I’m thinking about going for a walk today, preferably this morning or after work when it’s a little bit cooler out. Summer is not over yet with this heatwave!

Heat wave! I had a good sweaty walk but am glad to be back inside post-shower. Where's that autumn weather from last week? Bring it back!
Great to hear your near-birthday commitments @EvMakesChanges ! It is indeed mysterious how we know so well what to do, and then still walk on by as if it isn't there. But you are right that hanging out here, working those NO muscles, and eating the veggies will help make those mysteries dissipate - at least some of the time! Can't wait to see you Friday!4 -
Hello again friends. Sylvia here, rejoining for September.
Starting weight on last Thursday was 177.1. Will stick to Thursday weigh in day. I'm 53, in Massachusetts. Have swung on the weight pendulum my whole life, never staying at a comfortable weight for too long. Did great in 2020 but have gained back much of that since. Plenty of stressors but also some of my own bad habits. Was in the bookstore today, looked at Atomic Habits, and will see if I can get it from the library. Wine does me in and so am going to take a break. Took a couple days off work this week, first in a long time and although I got some great beach walks in, my eating was not great. Will let those days slide and up my game for the remaining month. Love the habit tracker.5 -

A hot humid stinker of a day, just as well heading back in to the office after vacation days. Prepping a cucumber salad just now and planning for a good eating day and saying 'no' to the usual things I'd give in to.
@jugar you might need to find an airconditioned mall to walk in Glad you're having a good visit with your dad.
@Gidgitgoescrzy I've never been tubing but have always imagined it super relaxing but your experience (!) - very very scary - glad you're both safe.3 -
Yesterday was a good day, the soreness is finally gone, the bruises are still there, but they no longer hurt. So all good. I think I might exercise today
Have a great day !6 -
@Gidgitgoescrzy Your story took me back to the last time Brad and I went rafting in a tube and we both finished the experience saying "never again". We, like you, left sore, banged up, and there were honest moments we were fearful. I so feel for you and your friend and I'm so sorry it turned out that way. Glad you made it out without any serious injuries... scary for sure!
@wishfuljune When I know I won't have time to give my dog her proper walk after work I do the same (put her into her dog daycare for the day)! Totally get that strategy.
We are currently in the car driving west to Kamloops so it gives me a bit of time to catch up on here. Saturday Brad rides his bike from Vancouver to Whistler, with 2300 m of elevation! The one I did with him in July was just over 1000 m so I can appreciate what a feat it will be.
Speaking of the Rocky Mountains.. I'm in them now and it's just the most beautiful thing. Anyone who hasn't experienced it really should put it on their list!!3 -

Hi everyone! I'm Michele, 59, a first grade teacher, living just outside Philadelphia in Pennsylvania USA. I'm married 40 years and have two grown kids and a 5 year old granddaughter that I adore. I have been with this team since 2019 and I am currently floundering. I am just about back where I was when I started. I thought I had all these great new habits mastered, but I made choices to ignore so many of the things I learned. I don't feel good when I wake up in the morning. I'm stiff, feeling pain in my joints, tired, and unmotivated. While I am confessing, I am having way too many desserts, especially ice cream almost nightly. So that's where I am. Oh, and also have been avoiding checking in here like that will somehow make it not so. I honestly am feeling like I can't do this. Don't have it in me anymore. I know my body would feel better with some weight off of it, but can't make myself do anything. My breakfast and lunch is usually pretty good, but then dinner can get heavy on the calories sometimes, then there are all the snacks.
I am hoping that September can be better than recent months. Not sure I have posted a month with a net loss in months and months. Right before I moved I was a pound and a half from Onderland. Then, piled on a dozen pounds in the past 4 months.
I need to log, drink my water, exercise and check in here. That is the formula that works. I know that and yet don't do it. Mindset change needed here. No more apathy.
@ashleycarole86 I will turn in my steps this month and use my 7,000 step goal daily.
@Gidgitgoescrzy Vikki, so glad you survived that scary tubing outing and that you're feeling better.
@jugar You are not kidding about this heat! It is like an oven. One of my little first graders literally burned her leg on a swing today. Luckily no blisters, but there was a huge red mark.
Here's hoping September can be green.5 -

Starting the month off in the green! 😊
From last Saturday to today, my average net calories are 1,829. This also takes into account Saturday & Sunday, where I consumed about 2,200 net calories on average. This is a good reminder to me about how to approach the weekends. Last weekend I had a potluck and I went out to lunch with a friend with minimal exercise because we were doing a lot of things at the house.
So a mini-challenge for myself! My in-laws and my family are visiting this Saturday. We are going out to dinner, so I am going to challenge myself to consider:
1 drink at dinner
if I want a dessert, I am splitting it with my husband
Drink plenty of water throughout the day
Get more protein this weekend; that was my lowest macro for last weekend
I am also doing a 45 minute spin class on Saturday, so getting the extra calorie burn will certainly help too 😉5 -
Friday Weigh-In
PW: 275.6

Not surprised at a small gain - definitely wasn't on top of eating or movement this week. Work was crazy but vacation starts today! I fly to Wisconsin at 1pm. No time for a proper intro as I still have to pack and clean my apartment!!
But I'm Kay, 28, living in Boston, struggle with binge eating and lack of motivation - really enjoying being back with this group after initially joining in Aug 2020. I am bringing my planner on the plane so I can think through all my goals for September, including those focused on the health side of things. Will report back!5 -
Yesterday was a win... It was a very stressful day at work, lots of fraud going on. If you don't have to mail a check, don't do it!
Anyway, go home, had dinner, then hubby was like I'm making an ice cream sundae, would you like one?
Nope, NO THANK YOU... And the best part, I didn't even think twice, I just didn't want it....
I think I am going to get in a nice long walk tomorrow morning and get this exercise stuff started.
Have a great day !

This felt great because we were in the car most of the day driving to Kamloops. We got our steps by walking to the restaurant and back. However, Google Maps tried to kill us on the way.. the way it took us was over this steep embankment and I had sandals on and of course we were also worried about Brad slipping before his race... anyway we made it and took a different way home but holy heck! Also, Kamloops is HILLY... people who live here must have amazing calves!!6 -
Lovely @micki48 ... I didn't even take your name off from before so you're all set! Glad to have your steps2

A bit of an increase, but I can’t be upset. We went camping with family and had the “bestest” time!! Now back to reality.5 -
oh how quickly I get derailed. Crazy day at work, things coming at me fast and furious, stayed late, then home to be updated by my sister on my dad's nurse visit & the outgoing caregiver's outsized interest in locating a box of briefs. Ate a quick PB&J while listening. Then more work to finish, then the hersey bars in fridge - should have known I just can NOT buy more than one for my dad at a time. They're gone now and he got a little. But I"ve recovered now and will just log it all and move on, indulged in chocolate, will not indulge in the weekend wine/beer instead.6

Happy Saturday!
I finally got home late last evening and did not go online at all. Had a lovely birthday party with my sister @EvMakesChanges There was very healthy salad. Then there was the most decadent maple ice cream pie. It was seriously amazing. The mega heatwave seems to be over also, so I'm heading for the barn to see how Jasper is doing. Catch you later!
Go Brad Go!!3
