Weigh In Day Saturday

It's been a busy week and although I've been consistent with portion sizes and not mindlessly snacking, I think the processed carbs have crept into prominence. Step count has definitely increased this week.
Steps/Activity
3/9 - 5846 / gardening, singing group
4/9 - 9430 / gardening
5/9 - 16634 / housework, shopping, 9 holes golf

7/9 - 6019 / craft group, gardening
8/9 - 7180 / yoga, gardening
9/9 - 10671 / walking
Being part of this group is really good to help me with thinking back over the week to work out what's been going well and what needs to be tweeked in the next week. Thank you.6 -

Birthday weekend - what fun yesterday afternoon with my sister (@jugar) stopping by en route home from Massachusetts to Canada plus a visiting friend from NC; OH, and my 2 daughters created lovely salads with all the fixings ending with a great slice of maple ice-cream-pie (crust of crumbled waffle cones) with a bit of maple candy sprinkled on top. Wowza! As you can tell, all that deliciousness shows on the scale but I hope to be back on track this coming week.
I also plan to be online more, too. It's always a help to keep my peeps alongside this path with me. Have a good night, everyone! The heat is breaking and in spite of a sore throat today, I'm happy to know that it'll be a bit cooler here in the next few days. Enjoy the rest of my birthday weekend, dear WAs!

Spoiler Alert!
We were not in the top 3 teams this week, but we are lucky to have the person with the most impressive loss by % - congrats to @CarolAnnM2 !!
Let's work on team total this week. However small the green numbers, they will add up - and reduce the vacation time red tides I know back to work stress is real, especially for those of you dealing with kids fresh off their wild summers, but it is a good time to join them in doing their homework. Every day. Steady as she goes!6 -

I'm actually posting an intro, which is one-up on where I was in August!
I'm Katie, 35, living in the UK with my husband and our two cats. I work in software, from home mostly, and June-July-August (and September, based on the evidence thus far) have been incredibly busy. In August alone I clocked up 50 hours of overtime. I seem to be in calls almost constantly, and if I do have any 'free' time where I plan to do various tasks, it quickly gets consumed. I've dropped a customer this week which is helping, but I'm also picking up more responsibility for my newest customer, so it feels a bit swings-and-roundabouts, although I do feel less stressed for being pulled in one less direction.
Combined with my husband being tired/stressed from his work, we're eating a lot of convenience food and a lot of fast food. We have each batchcooked 1-2 dishes so there is some home cooked food in there, but we're still not cooking a lot from scratch. A slightly unusual reason this last week is that it's been so hot/humid, that standing over the stove is unbearable. OH isn't a salad fan, and he's currently only working day shifts, so I don't get those evenings to myself where I'd happily chuck some protein and salad on a plate.
I'm still weight lifting once a week with my PT - the rehab for my QL injury is complete and we're focusing on squat depth at the moment - but exercise outside of this is non-existant. See above for excuses! The allotment has taken a bit of a back seat as well; luckily it's a good time of year for that. We've got more garlic than we know what to do with, I have a constant supply of tomatoes and the yellow raspberries are to die for. We have done some work in the back garden, and now have a gorgeous raised bed, so I'll be redesigning the rest of the planting in the garden to match.
My aims for September are to try and have museli for breakfast - most days I'm skipping breakfast entirely - and also to reduce our food waste and my treat consumption by having a daily snack of berries and yoghurt. I keep having to throw the berries out as I don't feel I have the time/energy to prep the snack (even though it's quick and low effort) so if I have anything at all, it's usually chocolate.6 -

We are back, sort of from our cruise! I definitely ate terrible, and even with my steps I can't imagine what my weight will be. I think I would like to be excused for 1 more week @jugar
So by the sort of...our flight from Newark, NJ got cancelled, next flight was tomorrow at 9pm. So we decided to rent a car and drive back 9 hours to NC. Well, the line to rent the car was 1.5 hours long and they literally had 2 workers for everyone.
We also apparently brought the hot weather with us. We were looking forward to cool fall days, but we were soaked with sweat after walking through the towns. My lower step days were a sea day yesterday, and a driving tour through Saint John and Saint Martins. We saw beautiful places, enjoyed fun activities, and ate a lot of amazing food.
With over 4,000 people on the cruise and covid cases rising, I was slightly worrried I may get sick but figured it would be after getting home. Nope, woke up sick yesterday. Will take a covid test when I get home 🤧
Here are a few pictures:7 -
Great photos @DD265 and @lauren_989 ! Your gardens are gorgeous Katie - sorry you're having such wild schedules these days. Amp up the fruits and veggies, and hopefully the convenience food can take a back seat. Even if Mr. NoSalad is around, you can have one, right? And Lauren - another week off from weighing in is fine. That trip home sounds like it was a tough one. Hopefully you just have a "normal" cold and not covid.
I'm having a way too lazy day today. With too many calorific treats. Back on track tomorrow or else Join me in a well-planned well-tracked day! Sounds like several of us need one of those.5 -
Steps
Can you tell I didn’t check my steps to see if I was near my goal?
Things are moving along here now and I was down a pound. Now to keep it off.
Katie your garden is BEAUTIFUL!! Lauren sorry to hear about your flight. And I sure hope you don’t have Covid. Did you have to drive in the torrential rains we had today? Still ongoing here.
Happiest of birthdays Evelyn! 🎉🎂🎈Glad you could spend it with family especially your
sister.
Go Brad go!! Hope the race went well.
Today has been fine. I have logged 2/3 of my day so far. Did Pilates for 25 minutes this morning. Grocery shopping day and getting ready for the week. Need to go make my lunch for tomorrow.

Good morning Waistaways!
Thank you Liselyn for not dropping me from the team.
I've had a few bad weeks lately at home.
My husband and I are together 20 years this October, but 2 weeks ago we've had a massive argument.
A lot of words have been said. We both were honest and maybe hurt each other a bit. Most of things he told me were true: I work too much and he didn't think I wanted to be home with him, I drunk too much alcohol - true. It was funny in the way because he never complained to me about working too much so I just thought he doesn't want me at home anymore
The next day it was start of his holiday. He asked if I wanted to go out for the day with him, just the 2 of us in our motorhome - we did and it was best thing! We talked and since then it feels like we are dating again I quit one of my jobs so I do have time at home. I still have some of my debts to pay off but I'm going to do it slower
Next couple of weeks will be really hard for me. On the 20th of September we are taking my eldest son to move to his university halls in Cardiff, Wales, UK. My heart is breaking every time I think about it I'll deal with it when it comes x
@jugar can I please come back on the Team
I think I left end of August at 231lbs
Todays, Monday weigh in was 226.8lbs.
Can Monday be still my weigh day, please
Thank you for reading Waistaways and have a lovely Monday everyone4 -

Working on this green month!6 -
My covid test was negative! Just some random cold/virus. I am feeling slightly better today and am glad I took today off work.
The drive home was uneventful which was good. We hit a little rain, but not too bad. Today I am resting and am about to take a nap. It's hard work getting up, unpacking and making/eating breakfast when you are under the weather. My steps will plummet the next few days, but getting back to my eating plan!5 -
Steps & Exercise:
Sunday, 9/3 - 6,464 steps, home HIIT workout 47 minutes, 1.4 mile walk
Monday, 9/4 - 4,230 steps, spin 1 hour, yard work 45 minutes
Tuesday, 9/5 - 6,532 steps, CrossFit 1 hour, 2.2 mile walk
Wednesday, 9/6 - 1,958 steps, spin 45 minutes
Thursday, 9/7 - 1,363 steps
Friday, 9/8 - 3,697 steps
Saturday, 9/9 - 5,667 steps, packing & helping neighbor move 2.5 hours
Tuesday I woke up and felt okay. I was even able to push myself at CrossFit with my weights. Later in the day, I started developing a sore throat. I honestly thought it was allergies because I forgot some of my allergy medication and it has happened before. Wednesday, I woke up with the same sore throat and felt a little off, but not terrible, so I went to spin class. I was getting ready for work after spin class but I was slow and sluggish. My throat still hurt, I was developing some serious sinus pressure, started sneezing a lot, and needed to blow my nose A LOT. I did make it to work only to leave two hours later. Some nasty cold/flu bug hit me hard! I was out the rest of the week from work, spin class, CrossFit, and bowling.
I didn't have a COVID test at home, nor the energy to go to the clinic to be tested, so it could have been that. Almost one week later and today is the first day I have not had to use any cough syrup, but I am still coughing occasionally. I am back at work, but I know it is going to be a long day.
All of that to explain why my steps and activity took a nose dive.3 -

I love this time of year - the weather is amazing and there is so many yummy produce coming up from the garden. I made salsa this weekend with onions and tomato's from the garden - you just can't compare store bought to homemade.
I had a great weekend, we had an outdoor art festival in a nearby park that was so much fun on Saturday and Sunday my daughter and her friend had an opportunity to work with some horses and had a blast. The place we went focuses on teaching kids about working with horses but also how these skill also work in life. You need to treat a horse just like you would treat person. You need leadership, communication and be team work.
Wow they are big animals @jugar I can't imagine all the work you do with Jasper. They are amazing creatures. She had a blast and will be returning.
Have a great week friends.

So last week a friend of mine passed away, massive heart attack at 52. While this made me incredibly sad, because she had such a beautiful soul, and was just the nicest person. I know from our visits over the years, that she didn't put a lot into being healthy, she liked what she liked, and you weren't telling her different. She was actually the person who introduced me to Pilates, she decided about 15 years ago that she was going to sign up for this combo Yoga/Pilates class at a local hospital, so she convinced me to sign up with her, she went 1 time and decided it wasn't for her. I finished the 12 week long program because it turned out I really like Pilates and Yoga...
Anyway, It made me think, that could be me... So, I exercised this weekend, on Saturday I did 20 min aerobics, and 10 min Pilates. Sunday, I did 20 min yoga... I am not sure which one did it, because the pain didn't start till today, but dang it my gluteus HURTS! LMAO.... Talk about a kick in the butt!
So I would like to dedicate this week of exercise, and getting back into being more active, to my friend Dawn.

@jugar this is essentially two weeks' of weigh-ins in one. Last week was wild! So sorry.
I have fallen put of my good habits over the last 3 weeks. School started, I started working with a new client (I have my own consulting business), and my volunteer commitments have been heavy. Whew!
I am getting myself back on track by: posting here!, planning my meals for the week, and grocery shopping to make sure I have what I need for those meals, and getting back on the water train.
I am traveling most of next week which will be it's own challenge. Right now I'm trying to make the best of THIS week.2 -
Steps ...
Happiest of birthdays Evelyn! 🎉🎂🎈Glad you could spend it with family especially your
sister...
Thanks for the birthday wishes! It's always a good thing to be with my sister. Her nieces loved seeing her twice in a 4-week period, too!
@lauren_989 - you and I were in tandem as far as having a cold of non-Covid-type. I awoke with a sore throat on Saturday with a mild cough and no energy. I slept a lot. When I awoke early today, I decided to stay home from work. My boss (who is half my age), urged me to catch up on rest and fluids, so, I did. I can make up some of my 24 hours/wk Tuesday-Friday.
@strong_fit_ells What communication sessions you're having! It can be amazing to break through the hurt emotions to the truth beneath. Perseverance is key and it sounds as though you're "back in the boat" instead of lost at sea.
I signed up for a Latin dance class through AARP this evening. That should be fun - we'll see!
I'm working on my green week - see you again soon.
3 -
@EvMakesChanges I hope you feel better too! I literally laid in bed all day and took a 2 hour nap after sleeping for 10 hours last night. I am feeling slightly better, just sneezing a bunch and stuffy. I'm glad I only have a half day tomorrow at work. I'm about to take more nyquil and get back to sleep 😴🤧
@Gidgitgoescrzy I am sorry to hear about the passing of your friend. I hope you aren't too sore from all that exercise!
I've gotten on back somewhat with my eating today. Being sick, all I wanted was toast, eggs, and soup. So while my calories are down today, I did not eat any veggies or fruit. Working with myself right now and just focusing on total calories the next few days.2 -

I have so many things to say to you, Ellie! First - you know you are always part of this team even when things get crazy and you disappear for a while. Second, your couple evolution is beautiful. You had words that were hard, you had a fantastic time, you are working on making things better. It does not get better than that. You did not give up! You owned your difficulties, and you are moving on.
BUT! Your eldest son going off to uni is absolutely not a reason to have your heart break with anything but happiness and pride! Sure, it's a big change - but a fantastic one! You have helped him get to this point, and off he goes - well done. You are both wonderful - he is ready because you helped him to get there. It might not have been perfect (it never is!) but there you go. Find the great happiness in this transformation - because it is the goal of raising a child. Yes!! Well done! Work on your health to be solid for your younger child (I think you have a 2nd, right?) and your other half - they will see how proud you are and look to the future. I salute you!6 -

Yesterday was a good day, I did 20 min aerobics video when I got home, made a nice taco salad for dinner. and worked on some purging instead of watching TV... I only cleaned out 1 junk draw, but hey if I do that every day, in 30 days, I might have all of my junk drawers cleared out... okay, maybe I don't have that many, but sometimes if feels like it...
But that brings me to this question... What do you do with all of the cards you receive? (birthday, holiday, etc) I keep mine, but I kind of feel like maybe I shouldn't, but I feel bad throwing them away, and it's kind of fun to look back... So, I am just curious on what other people do with their cards?2 -
