@Gidgitgoescrzy for my cards I usually throw them away. A few from ny husband have long notes, so I kept those. Sometimes I will take a picture of the card first, then throw it away. My grandma used to keep them in a pile and reuse them. We would cut off the front picture, glue it on construction paper folded in half and voila! A new card to send someone.
Today has been ok, just really tired. I worked my half day and am now going to nap 😴 Unfortunately, my husband woke up with fever/chills last night. Hopefully my parents and his parents didn't get anything!3 -

This day started with making a mega batch of apple jelly and an experimental one of apple syrup - my 5 apple trees have gone kinda berserk this year, and I have barely made a dent in the crop that looks like several million. But I have enough jelly for the year now. I got some practicing done, booked my ticket to go to Alberta in October, and then Jasper and I had a workout and some delicious carrots. I hope you all have had a good day too!
Wednesday is the @Gidgitgoescrzy solo! The only person on the team with Wednesday weigh-in.2 -

@gidgitgoescrzy sorry to hear of your friend. certainly something that makes one think about your own choices and good inspiration. Cards: no hard or fast rule right, if it means something to you, keep it, it doesn't take up much room. You can always toss out later.
My cousin was over the other night supper, I offered drinks and she wanted a little white wine...well, I only had a huge double sized bottle, still, I opened it. I didn't partake. Tuesday morning I took that bottle and pour it on the ground outside. Just saying NO. I know that if it sits in the fridge it will derail me. Pretty out of character for me to do that...I don't like to waste money, but am very glad I did. Trying to keep ALL my intake in line, I got rid of something that wasn't going to help.
One major stressor this year: before I'd taken my couple months break from F2F, many of you knew of the bizarre aggressive tumor discovered in my brother's sinus. After months of chemo & radiation, he's had a PET scan on Tuesday that shows no cancer. In full remission. They'll check him every 3 months for 5 yrs to make sure it doesn't return. He lost sight for good in one eye due to the nerve being compressed for so long, but in his 2nd eye, sight returned once the chemo started working. We are all feeling incredibly lucky.
Other stressors continue but that was a huge one. Allows me to pause, pull myself together, and take care of me now...stop being unhappy in my clothes. So! hoping for a green weigh in tomorrow. still have to work on the prelogging habit.
@jugar have you got a big freezer? one year, with a bumper crop of apples I made loads of applesauce and just froze - no added sugar, sweet enough and a great dessert choice.2 -

We are on our way home from our trip... we'll be rolling in after 11 p.m. and back in the office tomorrow, us crazy kids!
We had fun, like @micki48 said earlier this week I too have a lot of "food in transit". But yeah, it will be good to get back to a routine. Got some good steps in but that was the extent of the good behavior!3 -
@jugar apple jelly sounds delicious!
I am feeling a lot better today, however now hubby is sick and miserable. We tested him for covid with our recent trip and he came back positive. I took another test just to make sure and I was negative again (a total of 3 negative tests for me). Not sure if I am testing a false negative, him a false positive, or we both picked up different bugs from the cruise 🤷🏼♀️ We had similar symptoms but he seems sicker than I was.
Since we have been back from our trip, I have done a 180 on my eating. I'm actually surprised how easy it was to get back in my good eating habits. Still may take a few weeks to get the weight back off.3 -
My condolences to you @Gidgitgoescrzy for the loss of your friend Dawn0
-
@lauren_989 Glad you're feeling better, but sorry it's hubby's turn. The cruise photos were amazing and your vacation steps were awesome. Glad it's been easy getting back on track after the holiday.. especially with you feeling so crappy!
I need to draw on that for myself as I ease back into things here for my end of September. I'd really like to end September lighter than I started it but it's going to be an uphill battle.2 -
Last call for week 1 steps @project_shan
Hope to get you counted in for the report!0 -
Glad you're heading home @ashleycarole86 but too bad you have to hop right off to work in the morning At least the weekend is not too far off!
@eggfreak I am so glad to hear about your brother - that is amazing. I often forget how dramatically good cancer treatments can be. It is also wonderful to hear your wine pouring out story, and see that you are coming back to caring for yourself. You'll save way more money by not buying wine than you lost pouring that one out. And you'll feel so much better. And yes! Applesauce is appearing in my big freezer for sure. I also freeze chopped apples for stuff like apple crisp - or even just to put off cooking so much danged applesauce all at once! It works well. Every day is apple day right now. Come on up!
I had a fun rehearsal this afternoon - lots of ideas flying around to try to figure out a proposal for a performance next summer. The proposals are due October 2nd, so we have to work fast to put all the ideas together. I think it will be a good program, though. It was quite the sight-reading party, with tons of talking in between. We'll hope for the best.
Thursday weigh-ins! Here they come:

Eek! As suspected, today's post-vacation weigh in bloat is a real wake up call.
Very hard not to feel extremely frustrated with myself, but I've yet to find that type of mindset motivating. So, time to just do the work.4 -

Blaming last nights McDs...
@Gidgitgoescrzy I'm sorry to hear about Dawn.
@strong_fit_ells I've learned that communication is key, even if sometimes it is hurtful to one or both (name calling, abuse etc excluded!). We've been together 18 years (since we were 17) but our communication has come on amazingly this year with having couples therapy.
That's fantastic news @eggfreak, I hope you can now take some time for yourself to rest and recharge.
I am back in the swing of working extra hours - I basically lasted two days. Oh well. It's not as bad as in August, but my days are so full, that often the only time I get to focus on my own tasks is the evening. The dark nights are upon us (and the spiders, urgh), and we're getting plenty of rain after our recent heatwave, which means I will need to prioritise the allotment when I have both daylight and suitable weather.
I had my muesli 2/4 days this week, and my berries + yoghurt once. I'm generally making better food choices, if we ignore the McDonalds and overworking. My squat depth is improving, although my lats had something to say about the number of hours I'm spending at my desk! Heading in the right direction...5 -

I started doing weight watchers about 2 weeks ago. It has been almost 20 years since I have been with them. I really like the new program. It's giving me a better perspective on my total weekly calories. I easily over do it some days and incorrectly assumed I made up for it on other days when eating was good. I really like that tracking is significantly less with the program. I only track foods with points. This makes me so much more willing to track.5 -
Happy Thursday!
I have been watching the ebbs and flows on the team for a long time. Right now is a particularly beautiful balancing moment - several people are getting back on track after a period in the doldrums, several are struggling with stress and time constraints, or looking for some renewal. The renewals never seem to come from a negative place - from telling ourselves how we have failed, or what is bad about the direction things are going. They come with posts about re-awakening self care and self love (giving health to tomorrow-self instead of rewarding today-self with poor options), discovering new tools (points instead of calories, new patterns, learning about the effects of food and drink on the brain), or emotional renewal. This might follow a period of negativity, and it is beautiful to see.
Beating up on ourselves never feels good. If you're struggling, try to get off that train. Take a moment to look at what would be really positive for yourself. It might mean saying no to something immediate, but it is really saying yes to the good stuff. Really good stuff. You've got this.
I'm feeling like I need this right now too! So glad to see those turnarounds, and I'm sure there will be more to come.5 -

Feel physically leaner and stronger than last week, but only a small downward shift in the numbers.
Looking forward to a weekend catching up with family whom I have not seen for about 4 years. Planning to do Parkrun while I am away, which will be my first event this year due to my knee injury. Should be fun.7 -

My mini-challenge for when my family and in-laws came went okay. I did get more protein in and more water, but I did not stick to the other two goals. This week was also rather tough food-wise because it finally became TOM for me and my appetite was ravenous! I’d eat a protein heavy meal, and then not even two hours later, my stomach would be rumbling! I tried to drink water to see if I was just thirsty, but that did not help. I definitely ate way over my goals.
I also got my blood work lab results back, and the obgyn does think I have PCOS which will make it harder to lose weight. I have my dietician appointment next week so this may help us shift our approach. It may also mean I need to really focus on increasing my exercise routine so I’ll be looking into good workouts for PCOS. If anyone is in a similar boat and has suggestions, that would be wonderful!4 -
Yesterday was good, today will be good. I signed up for a yoga class tomorrow morning.
I slept terribly last night, and I am not even sure why.
Anyway, hope you all have a great day, and make good choices...

I am also on the post-vacation upswing. Let me tell you - people in Wisconsin really like to drink. 😆
The trip was really fun, but I did get very frustrated with my foot injury. It just gets irritated so easily and illogically (like even at points where I don't feel like I have been walking much at all), and we did probably also walk too much for me. But I felt bad making an issue of it because I didn't want to interrupt vacay activities.
I also ate so much cheese. My new favorite snack is going to be seared halloumi.
I'm behind on posts but finally have a weekend at home so I can catch up on all things, MFP, health, chores, etc.4 -

No movement at all this week and it shows. I believe the weight gain is due to eating many comfort foods this week while recovering from the flu. After eating all I did was sleep.
Feeling much better now. Back to basics for me.4 -

I'll take it. We were out of town and eating out always gets me. I really tried to watch what I ate. My goal was to just maintain and that's what I did (more or less). That's a win in my book.3 -

I ate some things I shouldn't have at work today 🙈 We celebrated our manager's birthday with mexican food and a delicious chocolate truffle cake! Then I had a cookie.
Tomorrow is a new day. I have my alarm set to go to the gym. I think I am finally feeling up to it after being sick. I mowed the front lawn yesterday and got short of breath, so hopefully it won't push me too much. My hubby is finally turning the corner and feeling slightly better today!
@conleywoods I did weight watchers in 2012 and lost 50 pounds! It worked well for me then. Then I went back to it 2 years ago and I didn't lose much and didn't like the changes they made. I'm glad you like the current plan! I found the meetings helpful and having someone weigh me in also helped hold me accountable. I'm glad I was able to find this group because it is very motivating and helpful to me!3
