Short steps yesterday - spent some time in church for funeral and then luncheon -- I was there until after 3PM it was cloudy, exhausted so I didn't go for a walk3 -
@Pupowl : SQUeeeeeeeee!! They're so cute, they're different then I imagined, I've only seen one once at a pet shop a long time ago. Does it get very cold where you live in the winter time? Looks like wild strawberries around them? Beautiful!
@nancyinmo - Miami looks amazing. Blue skies, warm temps and energy. Looks like an amazing place to live.

Thursday steps 4070.
Haven't felt the best. Lots of joint pains. Rained last here and more possibly coming. And then I helped with changeover yesterday for about 5 to 6 hours so feeling drained on top of it. So, a lot of quick easy household chores.3 -
@nancyinmo Love the beautiful picture...glad to hear your move is going well. What a grand adventure for this next chapter of your life!! CONGRATS!

I'm really happy that I've been losing weight lately. Just shows that plain old counting calories works. My weight always seems to stop coming off when I try to just estimate what I'm eating.
I've been working on my running and meeting my goal of running 100 miles this month. I am at 55 right now, so a little behind but I should still be able to do it if I push myself the rest of the month.
I love that you posted this! “ Just shows that plain old counting calories works.” This was a great reminder and incentive to me! Thank you!!2 -
@Pupowl love the hedgehog pictures! You are so lucky that you get to catch glimpses of those cuties!
@PatriceFitnessPal you are so close to your goal range!! Great job maintains your weight loss!
@nancyinmo beautiful view! So glad you’re happy with the move!
@LaurieWrobo I’m sorry for your family’s loss 😞 I hope you were able to get some good sleep and recharge after such an emotional day!4 -
Every ounce of weight loss counts!
Every bit of exercise you do counts!
Every little substitution you do counts!
Don’t minimize any work you’re putting into this journey!
Don’t forget to record because all those bites and tastes can add up too 😉

@Itadakimasu7 Out winters are usually pretty mild, though it isn't the temperature that gets them in trouble. Hedgehogs don't prepare a food storage when they hibernate, so if the winter is very long, they have to wake up and look for food. Which of course isn't readily available in the dead of winter. Here they hibernate from around November until April. The moms will wait to hibernate until they are sure the babies are fat enough to survive, so they can really use the help now. This is likely her second nest of the year and these babies have a lot less time to get enough fat.
Edit: Those are mock strawberries. They grow everywhere in the backyard!3 -
Good morning Shape Shifters. It was raining non stop the entire day yesterday, so no walk. I finished the second half of the wraps and I was disgustingly full for 6 whole hours. It wasn't nice. Looking at the scale this morning, I can for sure say it isn't worth the calories. Don't be alarmed if my calories the next few days are a bit low. I just want to make sure I get in a loss for Wednesday and after two days of massive overeating, I need to chill a bit. On a positive note, the hedgehogs found the food in the new house! Both bowls were empty when I checked. I may need to put in bigger bowls since it doesn't seem to be enough food. Of course I have no idea how many hedgehogs actually make use of it, but considering nothing was left, giving more is probably a good idea. Happy Friday everyone

Hi everyone
I've kept up with reading the posts even though I haven't been an active participant in the group over the summer.
My summer was good with a fair amount of travel. I went to St John's Newfoundland as well as the island St Pierre. St Pierre is a colony of France; it was interesting to take a fairly short ferry ride from Canada and end up in Europe.
Like a few other group members we headed to Las Vegas as well. My husband was there for a trade show and my daughter and I tagged along. Typically I attend the trade show as well, but stayed with my daughter. It was a good time, we rented a car and drove out to the west rim of the grand canyon and stopped at the Hover Dam on the way back to the city.
I finished my health program back in June and I've continued to incorporate what I've learned into my daily life. Unfortunately the exercise portion of the program has left me with a foot injury. I pushed myself too hard and didn't speak up enough when it became too hard. I believe it started with a stress fracture in my heel and now has continued as plantar fasciitis. I've switched out my shoes, added insoles to others and have started wearing a pair of runners in the house. I got on my elliptical for the first time since June a couple days ago, but have continued with my strength training.
If you got through all that, thank you.
I weigh in tomorrow, my weight is up and that is ok. I've spent the summer traveling, gardening, preserving all the wonderful garden items and trying to heal my foot.
I've included a link to a recent post by the Dr that helped me earlier in the year. It is about personal identity and ways it can shift to help us become more successful in our health journeys.

@LaurieWrobo Very sorry for the loss of your family member. Loss is so hard, no matter the circumstance. I pray their memories will soon bring you happiness and not sadness when they come to your mind. Somehow I missed your posting. It's been a very busy week for me at work.

@pupowl @Sbus12 @Cyncia85 I will be off and on this weekend because we have a Tropical Storm that could strengthen on Saturday to a hurricane. Not sure what my access will be so if I'm hit and miss, please forgive me. Last report, it's expected to be worse in Richmond area than in Virginia Beach/Chesapeake area, so that's good news. We shall see.
Just letting you know...

Good morning Shape Shifters. My day wasn't bad. I went for my morning walk again. It was very wet and muddy in the forest, but there was no sun which made me very happy. Temperature was good too. Tinus was being a sneak and he almost caught a little mouse in the garden. I have no idea how he even knew it was coming. He was sitting on a stone block along the fence and suddenly he pounced on something directly under him. I pulled him away right away, which was when I saw a stunned little mouse. After like a second he ran off loudly squeaking "I am alive! I am alive! I am alive!" Well, that was my interpretation anyway. That's another reason he is on leash, even in the garden. I never know what he will get up to next! My hedgehogs ate all the food under the basket again, so I doubled the amount. This morning I threw out some more dry food near their nest and the mom came out to eat right away. It is kinda crazy how much they can eat; I can totally relate... Happy Saturday everyone

The rains have returned to the Pacific Northwest rain forest, yeah! I have vegetables simmering in the InstaPot making a bullion base for later today.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend! I enjoy reading everyone's posts!4 -
Hey y'all...storm passed by and the only thing I've seen lots of are tree limbs down in my neighborhood and one big one in my yard, but other than that, I am unscathed! Thanks to those who sent me notes checking on me. The storm picked up speed and went west of my town, so Richmond, VA took the brunt for the state this time. I was able to make it to my appointment at Noon today to get my COVID Booster.
Getting ready to post a special MODS Challenge for the last 100 days of 2023. Watch for the link and I encourage you to participate! This is in addition to the regular Group Challenge, so yet another opportunity for a little boost in your fitness routine!
