I totally forgot I am so supposed to be recording my workouts too!! I have been working the last 2 weeks, but I forgot to write it down. I will start recording workouts this week.6 -
@Antonia2050 best of luck with your travels! We're always here if you think of us in the future.
I was up so late last night, pretty unusual for me these days - going to try to be lights out by 10pm tonight. Doing some stretching while watching football, and meal prep later this afternoon.
I need to start the process of buying a new car. Never easy and never cheap - and especially daunting as a single woman in her 20s, because I just assume that car salesmen are going to take advantage. But I am incredibly set on a very specific car and budget, and it's got to happen in the next 6 months.5 -
I did okay today. I stayed within my calories and got about 2/3 of my water in. Tomorrow, I'm focusing on water and exercise.4

@conleywoods nice loss this week - how's WW going?
@jugar have a safe trip back

Small loss but I"ll take it considering I enjoyed myself on the weekend by making a delicious coconut almond sourdough bread that was amazing. It's sitting on the counter but won't get touched today. Enjoying my coffee in a little peace after my Peloton workout. Getting this Monday off to a good start.

@ashleycarole86 - Friday, October 13th - 8,727 steps, 40 minutes of spin, 1 hour of CrossFit
Saturday, October 14th - 4,096 steps (I forgot to put on my watch until I had to leave the house at 11:30), my guess is I was about 5,500 steps for the day if I would have remembered the watch.
Sunday, October 15th - 6,054 steps
I did not have the healthiest weekend, but I did not drink. Friday I got my two workouts in and I donated blood. I still had chores and errands to finish after the blood donation and I actually got them done. Usually I am too wiped after donating to do much of anything.
Saturday, I spent the morning doing chores around the house and then was able to watch the eclipse from my front porch. At our house, we were able to see 98% coverage. 20 miles away they had 100% coverage. It was pretty cool. Then, I had to host a bowling tournament which I've been really stressed about. I was not too long ago volun-told into the local United States Bowling Congress (USBC) manager role, and therefore responsible for hosting a bowling tournament. I've only competed in this tournament once before having to run it, so I really felt like I had no idea what I was doing. Luckily, many of the women have done the tournament for years and were willing to help. However, not so luckily, a main staple of the tournament is tremendous amounts of candy. So, I stress ate a LOT of candy. Then I went out to dinner with my family at a Mexican restaurant.
Sunday was my mom's birthday. I had tournament duties still, so I took care of those in the morning and had someone fill in for me in the afternoon so I could join my family for the birthday festivities. For my mom's birthday, we took her to a nearby hot springs and then went out to dinner. The hot springs were really relaxing. At dinner, I was hungry (granted I did not eat much or well earlier in the day - candy, popcorn, apple with peanut butter, chips...), so I had a burger with a gluten free bun and calabacitas on the side. The bun was a cheat on my diet because I have not been allowing myself breads, pastas, or baked goods.
The not drinking is the part I am most proud of and also the reason why I am not too mad at myself for the candy and bun on my burger. In the past, stress has often led to drinking. If it leads to a few pieces of candy and some extra carbs, but no alcohol, I count it a win.6 -
@jugar - I'm glad you made it home safely. Hopefully the meeting today goes well about the university position and that it becomes clear whether or not this is the right position for you and you for it.
@Kali225 - it sounds like you are already way ahead with your car purchase since you have a car picked out and a budget. The only advice I would have is stick to your budget and what you want. Don't compromise for less. Also, great movie picks!
@conleywoods - good luck with your move back to full time! It can be hard, so I hope the adjustment goes well for you.
@micki48 - we all end up in a lazy funk occasionally. Good job recognizing it for what it is. That's the first step to getting yourself out of it. Also, I hope your doctor appointments go well and you can get some answers for some of your pain!
@wishfuljune - I second what @eggfreak said - I would LOVE to come to your house this week. Your menu sounds AMAZING!!!
@cupcakecrusoe - That's a lot of time spent in a car! Glad you made it home safely.3 -

Moving in the right direction, hoping this loss is real and I don't just keep moving up and down.6 -
The week is off and running! Great job @littlemzkitty - you are almost exactly hitting that sweet 1% spot this week! Be sure to keep up whatever you are doing that worked, and build next Monday's 1% too - WTG!
@MaddawgMadsen great job on cutting the alcohol! Even if some candy happened, you are doing great. I am feeling good without the alcohol too - it has not been 100% every day this month, but close!
I did indeed make it home today, and I am SO looking forward to bedtime. The meeting at the university went well this morning, and I'll be taking on this short-term "investigator" role and I hope we'll be able to clear up the issues in question. I will have to get a cool hat, since they are calling me that, right?
When I got home and had to vacuum all my belongings outside, bag up all the clothes to put straight into the washer, and hop in the shower (good ol' DH's asthma). Unfortunately, my Fitbit ended up going through the wash! It is now dead. I got it used for a low price, and it was getting pretty old, but I really don't feel like buying another one. Grrrr.
@ashleycarole86 Here are my steps since Thursday until the washing disaster:
Thursday - 8426 (rest day!)
Friday - 12,689
Saturday - 14,010
Sunday - 11,216
Monday - 9,545 (until about 2:30 pm)
I'll try to find a replacement!5 -

Thanks!3 -
Today went pretty well. I logged my food. Did have dessert (ice cream) but was still under. Met my step goal and water goal.
I made these cute cupcakes. I had one yesterday but gave most of them away today.
Watching baseball ⚾️ now. Go Phillies!!
Overall, not a bad day.6 -
@MaddawgMadsen sticking to no drinking on a busy weekend like that is a big win for sure!!
@micki48 LOVE those little mummy guys!
@jugar I am picturing you with a real Holmes-esque plaid cap on!
way too late for me to still be up. today's glute-focused workout was really hard, almost too hard; I was nearly ready to give up. I'm glad I didn't but it made me feel pretty out of shape/weak where the last 3 weeks of workouts have made me feel like I was getting into a groove. I'll shake it off tomorrow for arm day. absolutely exhausted. good night!3 -

I've been sick again, I think I might be allergic to alcohol. On Sunday, our team played in London, so we had brunch for the 9.30am football game. I had 3 mimosas, and some french toast and bacon .
Took a nap in the afternoon, then woke up and the heartburn hit, then about 1am, the vomiting. This happened last time I had more than 2 drinks in a row also. But it didn't happen when I spaced them out pretty far.
So I think I am going to have to just start drinking non-alcoholic beverages when the moment calls for a drink. I did call my dr and she put me on protonix for 2 weeks, because she thinks maybe the alcohol is causing severe inflammation/ acid reflux. But if it happens again, I have to go get an endoscopy. She is also curious about the fact that this doesn't happen till 10-12 hours after I have the drinks, but I'm not doing it again, so she will have to find a different test dummy.
Anyway food intake is good, although I have fallen off the food prep train, and I really need to start doing that again. So that is my plan for this weekend.
My back has been absolutely killing me lately, so I've been concentrating on building core muscles and doing my back PT exercises. It feels kinda like it did before I had the surgery on it, but it doesn't last, I can stretch it out pretty quickly, but if I don't , the nerve pain goes around my hips to my thighs, and thats just not good, so I have message into my spine surgeon to get xrays, just so I know what is going on back there, who knows maybe a screw came loose. LOL
@MaddawgMadsen Great job not drinking. It's a great crutch to get rid of. You stay busy, I wish I had your energy
@Micki48 - I swear we are twins, I am with you on just being in a lazy, excuse ridden funk, it's like every time I try something goes wrong, so why try. Hope you figure out your foot issues. Those cupcakes are adorable!
Okay, it's work time, people keep coming in my office wanting stuff, so I guess I should get to work.
Have a great day !

It's small change, but it's green. @strong_fit_ells, I am a slow loser, too!
@ashleycarole86 - October, 16 - 6,288 steps
Today's CrossFit class kicked my butt! My legs, too! They feel like jello. We did 120 box steps ups with weight, 100 dumbbell snatches, and 40 box jump overs. But, I was able to finally get out of my head and jump on a box.
@jugar - Boo on the washing of the fitbit! I'm sorry you have to get a new one because that is no fun! But, congrats on the cool new hat and accepting the short-term investigator role. Your Holmes hat will fit you well.
@micki48 - those cupcakes are adorable! I'm glad you got to enjoy one, too!
@gidgitgoescrzy - Being sick again is not good. It sounds like you are on your way to figuring it out and fixing the problem, though. Same with the back issues. If it ends up being a loose screw, would they have to do surgery again? I hope not, but if it stops the back pain, then it seems like it would be worth it.2 -

Not the best week over here. Time to step back up and track again!
@micki48 those cupcakes are so cute!
@Gidgitgoescrzy I hope they figure out what's going on! The only allergy I know that takes a while to show up (hours later) is from pork/red meat with alpha gal. You said you had bacon, do you eat that regularly?3 -
@Gidgitgoescrzy Hope your back feels better soon. I know you went through so much before. Sorry to hear you were sick too.
I will be getting three X-rays later this week and have a foot appointment scheduled for 10/26. Foot was killing me today. 😢
Thanks for the likes on the cupcakes. Cute and pretty easy.
Today was fine. Calories a bit higher but still just under goal. All food logged. I still ate dessert. Such a habit. Ugh.
Hit my step goal. Still a bit behind on my 💦 intake.2 -
well, that was a warped sort of marie kondo day. We're having some windows installed tomorrow, so everything has to be protected from the dust and dirt, furniture had to be moved, and all kinds of fun activities. In the process, I somehow decided it was time to get rid of stuff, reorganise stuff, move stuff all over the place - I don't know what came over me. Oh and I got out the fancy carpet cleaner machine and did the hallway rugs we always put down before winter. Why today? who knows... Anyone need some really cool big measuring cups? A wine decanter with a weird but beautiful aerating thing? Boxes of books?
I'll get back outdoors more tomorrow while the work is being done - that will help! Jasper is on the agenda. We'll need some good rides this week.
@Gidgitgoescrzy your alcohol reaction story is really interesting. I know that alcohol can mess with your gut bacteria - leaving you with some bad imbalances, and sometimes "leaky gut" where large protein molecules can wander where they are not wanted. It isn't an allergy, but the effects can be quite intense - smart move to have some AF beverages and then just one "real" one so that there is not a problem of going over that edge there. Our bodies are pretty good at telling us what is not working! Just not always in precise ways. I also hope your back recovers. Hugs to you!
@leni1us I hope your exercise and water efforts went super well today2 -

Up early today - OH returned to work post Covid “vacation” - noisy coughing and lights from downstairs started it then, my mind kicked up a few questions so I got sucked into the e-mail rabbit hole.
Last week, I started getting HelloFresh deliveries. The first box was full of goodies (free shipping for first one) and it’s been fun cooking with new recipes, etc. Before we got Covid (first couple of weeks this month), we found ourselves eating out way too often when we were worn out from work. Getting 3 meal kits delivered mid-week should help with that habit and keep us out of diners & restaurants this winter! It’s probably where we picked up our autumn Covid.
If anyone would like to try HelloFresh, send me your email for a coupon. There are many kinds of food styles on offer, including vegan.
Ok. Back to bed for another hour. Have a great day!4 -

Not surprised that there wasn't a change. I did not make a a huge effort this week. I did take the dog for a long walk yesterday and now I am going to do my workout. I do have meals planned for the rest of the week so hopefully I can be back in the 140s by next week. I think 145 by Thanksgiving is still doable.
@micki48 Love the cupcakes
@jugar I hope the job is a good fix. I went on a cleaning craze last weekend and had to take multiple trips to the Thrift Store to donate.
@gidgitgoescrzy that is odd that you had that reaction. I know now that I am older, I definitely can't drink like I used to. It doesn't make me sick, but I tend to wake up with severe anxiety if I have more then 3 drinks. I usually stick to 1-2 to be safe.1 -

WOOOHOOO I am in a new decade, now to stay here for a bit, and not go back...
@MaddawgMadsen I was joking about a screw being lose, the likely hood of that would be less than 1% - The bones are completely fused around the hardware, so unless I had a major impact in that area, they aren't moving. Apparently, I fused so well, it even impressed my spine doc, LOL... Some people don't always fuse easily, my brother in law is one, he needed a bone stimulator for his.
@lauren_989 I had no idea you could be allergic to red meat/ pork. I eat bacon fairly regularly, so I don't think it is that.
One common denominator in both drinks was 100% fruit juice, Grapefruit the 1st time, OJ the second. I rarely, and could not tell you the last time, I had a drink with 100% fruit juice, I am not a fan, and would normally use a juice drink, that contains about 5% real fruit juice, lol. Maybe my body just can't handle that acidity anymore.
As for my back, I talked to doc last night, he looked at my records, and apparently, I showed mild stenosis on the L4/L3 on the last x-rays, when they looked at the fusion in 2021, and he said it's consistent with the pain in my outer thigh, so it's a nerve impingement. He said, they could do a decompression when it becomes necessary, but to manage it as long as I can with gabapentin at night to settle the nerves, and to do my exercises like it's my religion. He is sending me for x rays just to double check, but he's pretty sure this is what it is. I told him I was going to Ireland next year, and didn't want this to affect it, so he said we could do an injection a few weeks before I leave if it's still bothering me. so I was happy with that.
Have a great day !

@ashleycarole86 - Tuesday, October 17th - 7,529 steps, 1 hour of CrossFit
@jugar - can I switch my weigh in day from Tuesday to Wednesday? I've noticed I'm almost always lighter on Wednesdays. It's possible I still have some weekend bloat by Tuesday. My weigh in today was 173.6.
@Gidgitgoescrzy - That's good news on your back. Also, good to know that the screw loose isn't a real possibility. It was scary to think that you could have surgery near your spine and then have the possibility of a screw coming loose. I hope you figure out what it is that is causing the other issue. Maybe it is the fruit juice. Maybe it's citrus specifically. Who knows, but hopefully you can find out.2 -

@eggfreak @jugar - Thank you both! The pizza soup has been a knockout dish so far; we are definitely making it again. All my recipes this week are from Abbey Sharp.
Work has started to pick up now for me so yesterday, I had to cancel my 6pm spin class due to some late calls with management and time sensitive items. I was super bummed to miss it because I have only been once so far this month due to COVID. I’m going to have to look at the schedule and pick my next class again soon.
I did do a pilates workout and a hiit workout this morning though which was a great way to start the day.
Tomorrow it’s another office day and then we’re going to see a podcast live show which will be a lot of fun.6 -
Wednesday greetings! @jugar Sounds like a very productive day for you. Cleaning/weeding out can be so liberating but can also be hard. Good for you, getting it down. Hope your new windows are great.
My day was ok. I logged all my food. Even the stuff I should not have eaten. (Student’s birthday cupcake offering) I am over today by 156 calories. So unless I can exercise those off before bed, I am over for the day. My calories are currently set low, slightly over 1200, so I’m not too worried about being over. I don’t really understand how MFP computes my calories even after all this time. I know the things that go into it but 🤷🏻♀️. I tried this metabolic calculator that said my basal ( I had basil 🌿 written first 😂) metabolic calorie
need was 1562. My MFP calories are less. So technically I should lose. So far, scale is not showing it. I could use more water 💦 but getting it in at school is tough. I’m at about 50 ounces. I have met my step goal. Yay!
Eating that daily dessert is a habit proving hard to break. Also intentional exercise is complicated by my very hurting foot. I have a day and a half off after noon tomorrow. X-rays will be on my to do list.
@Gidgitgoescrzy Big congratulations on reaching that new decade. It must feel so good. Keep up the great work.
@KellyBgetsfit Thanks for the cupcake compliment. You can TOTALLY hit 145 by Thanksgiving!
I’m feeling pretty tired right now. Don’t know if I need water, exercise or sleep.4 -

Don't stress about who defines how many calories you need - if you are losing, you are under your basic needs. If you are not, you are not. Go from where you are sitting and just shave off some. Hopefully it will work! I hear you on the dessert habit, though... It works if you can cut elsewhere
