@ Dean: Keeping good thoughts for healing
Well my left eyelid started swelling up Wednesday afternoon and I was in urgent care Friday morning and on meds.
There is a lump under my upper eyelid. Very painful and each morning my lid swells up and by afternoon is down and back up by bed time. I don’t know if I can wait a week to see if this improves. Using compresses and taking ibuprofen along with the erythromycin.

I know I'm going to another splint and another two weeks of non weight bearing. However, I think I can get a walking boot starting on the 21st. We'll have to see what they say on the seventh.

Got in to see my eye doctor today. I have Optical Cellulitis. Rare in adults but 95% is caused by a sinus infection. I did have some sinus issues for a while so mybe from that. And for general information, eye doctors do deal with eyelid issues. Don’t let a PA tell you differently. My condition was very serious and it could have led to other issues such as vision loss and infection throughout my body. So, if your gut tells you, go back to the doctor or get a second opinion..,do it.

@clepant - Ouch! Those are painful! What did the ER say it was? A plugged meibomian gland?

@clepant I guess if I kept reading i would have know. 😂😂. We teat eye lid cellulitis all the time in dogs. Unless there is an injury we never do know what caused it. I’m glad you kept pushing. It can cause corneal ulcers leading to ruptured eyes and vision loss. It serious but usually resolves with antibiotics, anti-inflammatory meds and warm compresses. I know cool compresses feel better but warm compresses increase blood flow and improve drainage of the transudate as well as improved immune response.1

@Dean: Hope you are feeling better and getting around a little better.
I still have a small lump on the lid, so I am thinking it is a plugged gland as well.
. I have to see if things are improving tomorrow. Eye doctor will put me on something stronger if no change. I have been taking Ibuprofen, using warm compresses along with Augmentin, but it is still swollen, but the pain is less. Hoping tomorrow is the turning point. I will be back Friday for recheck.
Feb. 6: Managed 4.5 miles walking today with my pup.
