Good morning, yesterday was good food and exercise.
Today is starting off well, I spent my time this morning doing random exercises, lol. I really want to concentrate more on muscle, toning and strength, but I do not have a set plan. I am not great at following plans. I need to create my own or something. I have 5 million videos saved of different things to do, so maybe I should sit down create a spreadsheet and create a macro to randomly select exercises for me 3 days a week. haaa haaa that could be fun, and I would know that they are exercises I like.
What is something I can get excited about today, well, I need to buy new jeans, my jeans are all too big now, I don't wear jeans often anymore, around the house it's leggings or sweats, when we hike it's leggings, and we usually do our errands after our hikes. We don't go out often anymore, since we aren't drinking and don't want to eat out anyway (it's so expensive and just not the same experience it used to be). For work, its work clothes, although we do have causal Fridays, so that is the one day a week I wear jeans, and they are awfully baggy on me now, I can take them off without unzipping or unbuttoning them. So I think I need a new pair. Or the new spreadsheet I am going to create from above, I'm excited about that now...

Great week! I am trying to work on my mindset.
Something exciting to look forward to today is I have an appointment with my NP today. I am looking forward to this to show her the progress I have made! I am also baking cookies for my book club tomorrow. I am not making my favorite kind, so it will be easy to avoid or only eat 1 😄7 -

Today I summited one of my peaks!! I’ve been very open about how I was going to make 2024 about me getting healthy; mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually, part of that journey was a goal of 10k steps a day.
Today I hit a crazy milestone (peak) … I’ve officially “stepped” more than half of the steps I had for all of 2023!! In two months, I’ve done what took 6 months last year. 🤯
What peak are you summitting? Where is your next path leading.

Something I am excited about today is that my husband has an interview for a job that checks all his boxes. If for some reason he doesn't get it, that is okay because he likes his current job. This one would just be better for him.
@Gidgitgoescrzy - I love that you get excited about spreadsheets the way I do! Also, the fact that you can create a macro to randomize your workouts is awesome!1 -

Not gonna lie. A little stomped by your question. I gotta think about that. Actually, I guess I will say this. I’ve joined a 6 week coaching class called Your Next Bold Move Now. And I feel like I’m doing/want to do A LOT of things. I found the following thoughts helpful today. Coach Ben (at KDR where I work out online and in person - wrote it).
“Let’s say this is you-
-Steps – different every day, but always under 4K. Sometimes it’s 1K, sometimes it’s 3900. Every day is different.
--
-Sleep – different every day; sometimes, bedtime is at 10 and wake at 6am and sometimes, it’s bedtime at 1am and awake at 9am, and everything in between. Every night is different.
--
-Food – different intake every day. Sometimes, 5 meals per day, sometimes just 1. Sometimes, it’s 3000 calories, sometimes, 1000. Every day is different.
--
-Water – different intake every day. Sometimes it’s a gallon sometimes it’s 20 oz of coffee…and that’s it. Every day is different.
--
-Exercise – different every week. Sometimes it’s 3 work outs per week, sometimes it’s 1. Every week is different.
--
Take home point – in this example, this person has zero consistency in their life.

We're going to call this PHASE ZERO.

This is usually how people come to us, i.e. no consistent behavior/choices. Or at least very little.
When we start working with this person, step one is to create patterns and be more consistent.

So, let’s say the person works for a few weeks and now their life looks like….
Every day is 4K steps, minimum.
Every night they get the same amount of hours sleep.
Every day they eat the same number of meals per day.
Every day they drink the same quantity of liquid.
Every week they get the same amount of exercise.
---
Let's call this PHASE ONE. This is the first point where you actually start working towards your results and it will result in one of three things happening...

Positive results – YAY!
No results – BUMMER!
Negative results – WTF!
Negative results? In other words weight goes in the wrong direction, generally this doesn’t happen. If it does happen it’s usually just for a week or two, then their weight starts going down.
Positive results? Great…stay the course.
IF YOU DON'T GET ANY RESULTS IT DOESN'T MEAN THE PLAN DOESN'T WORK IT MEANS YOU HAVE TO GO TO PHASE 2.

Phase 2 = more of the stuff you've been doing. More steps, more strict on your diet, more sleep, etc.

Often times, losing weight looks like this….
Q- “What do I need to do to lose weight?”
A- “Be in a calorie deficit.”
Q- “Great, how much and how do I get there?”
A- “You will know when it happens.”

Great stuff from Coach Ben @EvMakesChanges - it meshes well with @ChelleChelle1031 and her fabulous success upping the consistent stepping game so dramatically, and also asking about our next mountain / getting over a boundary. Going from phase 1 to 2 to 3. I like the question about what is next - will think on it and get back to you!

Confirming that I did get to my lower body workout last night - it was quick but VERY effective, I am super sore today. I think I would be less sore by now if I had moved around more today but I was stuck at work until 8:30pm and really felt my quads when I finally stood up from my desk. Dinner was absolutely delicious though so I am glad I stuck to the meal plan, even getting home so late.
I did 15 min of stretchy yoga before hopping into bed.

Something that I can get excited about today - I've been wearing a bit more jewelry lately, including an opal ring I bought myself a few years ago. 1. it's nice to feel pretty and girly sometimes. 2. I think this ring may not have fit all of my fingers in the last year or so but it is sitting quite nicely now on my left middle finger!
What is my next summit? This is a good one to think about but the first thing that came to mind was having things to do/look forward to each season of the year. I think 2022-2023 I definitely had some seasonal depression in the fall & winter, but since summer 2023 I have been more active, and planned trips/drives/social things, and even just romanticized my own friday nights living by myself so trying to keep all that energy up without burning myself out - that's a mountain!6 -

@Gidgitgoescrzy Hope you find a pair of jeans you Fall in love with! When you get the base of your spreadsheet, I'd love to see it if you care to share (Google sheets?). I'm a pen and paper gal (kinda) and I've been doing random workouts/making custom plans through the Fitness+ App. But I have a BUNCH of DVDs I'd LOVE to dust off and get to work on again.
@Kali225 Jewelry ehh? That is something that I don't do often either!-- I tend to lose earrings, and that's why I like cheap hoops and studs for that very reason. So Maybe I'll get a pair *thinking* Nevertheless, it's cool you found something you love--thanks for sharing!

What can I get excited for? I'm excited to spend some mama daughter time next week for her PD days. We have a time booked at our climbing gym and some pottery painting. We have a 2024 bucket list of about a dozen things we want to do together and those are 2 of them. I love spending time with her doing fun activities and it's part of my 'why' on taking care of myself.

Not bad, was hoping for more, but it's okay, I seem to have a pattern.
In Nov I lost 7lbs
in Dec I lost 1lb
In Jan I lost 9lbs
So I guess Feb will be a slow month, and thats okay, I need my skin to catch up with me...
Seriously considering an arm lift, but I know it takes time for skin to catch up, so I will give it a while, but honestly I am dreading pool days... I guess when it gets to be too much, I will just fly away with my new wings...
