Hi all, I am so glad to come back. I was only gone for about a month but I definitely missed not being part of the group. Life got very hectic and I am still trying to figure out how to do everything. I have had some food issues for over a month. Between binging and restricting I have felt like I was on a see-saw. I am hoping being back with the group will help with balance. I will get on the scale in the morning and see what my weight is now. I started at 197 I was down to 193 before I stopped logging. I have not worked out in a couple of months. I am not sure how to get back to doing that yet. We got a German Shepherd puppy in March. Since then my life has drastically changed. Before puppy I would get up and workout before work. I would also get another form of workout when I came home from work. Now I have to take care of her in the morning and then get ready. I have to leave 30 minutes earlier than I used to so I can take the puppy to doggy daycare. Now that are starting with a routine I am going to try and do something after work. I am also going to try and start walking before work or during my lunch break. I get to work 45 minutes early

@Slimmersixties I've stopped numerous times just before my end goal and never made it to maintenance.. This time, loosing lots for the 3rd time, I'm so determined to go all the way to my end goal AND have a good maintenance plan and stick to that! Good luck to you 💪

I've lost 70 or 80lb about 5 times!!! Gained it back every time so i am a complete failure at maintenance!! Before Xmas i reached my then goal, went to maintenance and gained 20lb in 5 weeks :( no point in all this hard work if there is no plan to keep it off!!
So my new approach is to be in very low weight loss mode after reaching my goal! Hoping it works! I'm sure you will get to your goal and you can join Linda and me in maintenance!!

What is everyone's favorite flavor of ice cream?

I just went out for ice cream on Monday to marble slab. I had a kids size cheesecake ice cream with cookie dough, mini m&ms and Oreo cookies as an add in. I figured by getting the kids size I saved some calories. This is what I get when I go there, which is not very often as it is a lot of unneeded calories and it is very expensive. .

Take things one day at a time. I can really relate to the binge eating side. I like to focus on one thing at a time. I need to get back to focusing on food. With your new puppy I am sure you are taking him for walks. This is exercise. Baby steps will help you get on plan.

Right now I am failing at maintenance. My lowest weight was 146 on the 19th of March. Now I am sitting between 150 to 153. So frustrating. The only thing is, I don’t see any changes in my clothes.

    Steps:
    April 8th: 6,483
    April 9th: 8,782

I am doing terrible with my eating. I take some heavy duty medications at night. I have been in the process of coming off one of them but it takes time. Problem is, I am gettIng really dopey from the medication and I am doing some night time eating. It is also very distorted eating as I am falling into some of my old binge eating patterns. I don’t see the specialist that prescribes the medication for another month. I know he is in clinic today so I am going to call and see if he can lower it immediately. If he gives the go ahead I will not take it tonight. Only issue is my sleep will be terrible for awhile and I am still not getting enough. I haven’t really logged accurately for a couple of days as I really don’t remember everything I am eating at night. If anyone has ideas to help with the overeating at night, I am all ears. I might have to get my husband to lock the fridge and cupboards if it keeps up. 😂 Seriously though.

NSV: I walked for 20 minutes straight yesterday! Yes I was in a lot of pain later but the sense of accomplishment certainly made it worth it.

@lindamtuck2018 : I'm so sorry you're struggling now, but it's awesome that you got out to walk!! As for my "loss" strategies this past week, here's what I do:
    1. I've started eating around 5/5:30. I used to eat at 6:30/7 and had horrible sleep afterwards with reflux.
    2. I don't snack in the evenings. After eating dinner, I have to brush my teeth which is a major hassle lately since my dental procedure. And I'm lazy, so if I brush them and do all the rinses/flossing, etc. I'm not gonna re-do them later because I ate something.
    3. I have a major sweet tooth, but I have found that if I give into it, I will binge on whatever is handy. And keep it up for days afterward--I think it's that thought process that tells me "I've blown it why not overeat everything?" and that's not good. But I need something sweet, and I've found--as trite as it sounds--if I have a serving of sweet fruit, the cravings are gone after a few minutes.
    4. I used to be a heavy chip eater--like any kind of chip. I don't keep them in the house anymore because I know I'll scarf them up. I tried the one portion and close the bag and nah, it doesn't work for me. So out of sight, out of mind.

These aren't terrible earth-shattering strategies, but they seem to work for me. I know you have some medication issues, too, from your post and I'm sure it plays a big part in what you're going through. All I can say is cut yourself some slack and "keep on keepin' on" as the song goes. You'll get there! <3
