Welcome back @gharvey2753 !! Take a few minutes and re-introduce yourself to the team, as I'm sure things have changed since you were last here. Tell us a little about your goals for May and beyond. In case any rules or processes have changed by to the first of this chat thread and read our FAQ file and if you have any questions, just ask. Good luck to you in May! Can't wait to begin celebrating milestones with you!

Hi Everyone, thanks for welcoming me back. My motivation for coming back is seeing everyone's journey which helps inspire myself. I am 36 and have high blood pressure which I have been prescribed medication for but remains high. I am therefore intending to improve this through diet and exercise. To start with I am taking Omega 3 and Pottasium supplements which help with blood pressure this is something I am monitoring daily. I am currently at 180ibs and I am aiming for 165ibs as my first target and then will assess if I want to go lower from there. My main exercise is lifting weights but will start to introduce some cardio now I am looking to reduce my weight. Also targeting 1500 cals per day. Have a work night out on Thursday which I will have some drinks so also tracking helps me limit my intake and enjoy life whilst getting fitter. Have a good week everyone!5 -
Cw: 231.0. Ugh. Too much sodium this weekend. I need excused for weigh in for next Monday, May 6th as I will have moved into my new place but can't guarantee I'd have found my scale.5

May Month Intro: Yukie_OP
Hi All, I've been apart of MFP for a few years now. I'm juggling FT work and study (for professional development) with personal/family life (I'm married and have a elementary age daughter plus raising my teenage niece). Re-joined this group around mid-march, the group helps me tremendously in staying accountable.
I have an upcoming vacation and wedding this month, which has motivated me particularly these past few weeks to increase my daily activity.

My name is Sue, and I am 63 years old. I live in southern Maryland, am married, have two grown kids (1 in Seattle, 1 in VA), 2 grandbabies (VA) and 1 fur baby 🐶. I work full time, currently teleworking. I love to read, ride my bike, quilt, and make greeting cards. I am always up for a challenge and am usually involved in multiple reading, fitness and Fitbit challenges at any given time. 📚🚶♀️
I have been on MFP for over 10 years now but only joined Shape Shifters last month. Wow...time sure does fly!! I hit my “official” goal of 140 lbs two years ago but have crept steadily up since then to almost 150, which is my “I must do something now” threshold. It took me years (almost 20) to crack the 150 barrier so I never want to pass it again.
The days are getting longer, and slowly – too slowly for my taste - getting warmer, so I am looking forward to being able to get back outside and bike / hike / kayak. I am travelling 2 of the 4 weekends each month and that is always a challenge for me. We recently bought our “retirement” home in VA near the grandkids so we are going down there frequently, taking carloads of stuff and doing small projects like painting and putting up shelves. I’m looking forward to spending more time there and actually enjoying the time rather than fixing up the house. All in good time I guess. The permanent move is about 16 months away yet.
Anyway, that’s me. I am happy to be here and look forward to another great month!

Dud my lately pt appointment early this morning but I still have to do my exercises.2 -
@Pupowl - you inspired me to get a pilates ring to add to my workouts- I was given an Amazon GC from my boss last week at my full time bank job for admin prof week so I'll be doing that during lunch or after dinner
so thanks 😊
It should be here by the end of the week and then got a thicker yoga mat with a carrying bag for my yoga studio classes to cushion my knees5 -
Since a new quarter is coming up, here are questions that are a good reflection point as we head halfway into the year by June as well

@LaurieWrobo How exciting about your job! Sounds great to have more agency and money. I hope it goes well.
Thank you 😊- it will be less stress on my knees/legs as it takes a few days when I would work to feel OK after being on my feet for 4.5 hours2 -
My word of the month will be:
Consistency 😊
Does anyone have a word of the month that they do for a new reset/start?4 -
@LaurieWrobo How cool to hear about the pilates ring! I hope it will help you with your workouts. I think you can do a lot with very little gear which is why I love my gym rings. They are so flexible and easy to use.3

Good morning Shape Shifters. I knew I had a busy day and I was a bit sore, so I went for a bike ride instead of a walk. Basically went over all the Dwingelderveld and I was out in nature for over 3 hours. I had a good time, the weather was nice. I saw a new bird (whinchat) and got pictures of an orange tip for the first time. When I got home, I did a bunch of weeding and mowing. After a shower it was time to take Tinus to the vet for his injection. Then I did my gym rings workout and a bunch more weeding. I was exhausted at the end of the day and ended up going to bed at 19:30.

The daily card:Failure is a state of mind and a judgement we place on ourselves. So is success. Recognize that it takes hard work and effort to succeed, but there will be bumps along the way. Think about a time when you faced failure and understand what you learned from it. Every success or failure has made you the person you are today, so embrace the positives in both.3

@Pupowl I love your bird pictures. And now I'm going to have to investigate those rings also. 🙂4 -
Yall, I can't wait to get to my new place this week. Idr if I asked to be excused for Monday, May 6th, or not? If not, I do need to be excused as I may not have gotten to where my bathroom scale is packed. I just packed ot last night but it'll take me a few days to get into all the totes and boxes to find it all.1

@Pupowl - how gorgeous to bike along those tree-lined & grassy paths
@Armygirlarmyof1 - new place, how exciting! Enjoy the fresh possibilities and ideas to make it your own.
@LaurieWrobo - Usually when I do a reset/re-start, the word that comes to mind is FOCUS. This month, my word is: MOVE as I'm trying to make sure i do some kind of activity & move my body on weekdays.

Grace...we shouldn't be too hard on ourselves when we take a few steps backwards. This one is hard for me because I am my worst enemy with the blame game. I'm trying to give myself a little more grace.

@LaurieWrobo - I’m happy to hear about your new job, which is healthier and less stressful for you. I’m guessing a massage therapist also tries to create a positive work environment for his/ her /their business(es). Congratulations! 🎉
My word for the year is ‘flourish’ because I’m trying to improve a number of different habits across eight dimensions of wellness. It’s getting easier but change is hard and it’s taking a lot of energy so I’ll pick “sleep” as my word for this month. In order to flourish during the day, I’ll need to balance my mental and physical activity with periods of rest and reflection. Thanks for encouraging us to pause, reflect, adjust, and focus! 🤸🧘♀️🤸🧘♀️3 -

Good Morning,
I'm feeling a bit better today, I'm going to work. I stayed home sick yesterday, due to I believe food poisoning. My steps for yesterday consisted of walking from bedroom to bathroom, that's it. I have very low energy today, but I still need to go to work.

My daughter's Grade 12 graduation is in a couple of weeks, it's bittersweet that my baby is graduating I'm so proud of her, and excited for her next chapter in life.
