Just checking in here. Hope you are all OK. How is the personal trainer going, Suzy? And the pickleball, Snoozie?

It feels like it has been a long winter here. Not so much snow and ice any more, but just cold, windy, rainy, etc. It's looking a big brighter today and I'm going out doing voluntary litter picking round my area.

Hiya Vail! Actually i just got back from pickleball lol.. we couldnt play all week as it was closed to us during school march break so a lot of kiddie events going on... bad timing as i was trying that experiment before my bloodwork about seeing if increasing my exercise in the weeks before my bloodwork would affect my A1C... so i needed that week of play but alas lol.. i have my appt with the endo on Wed ... praying she won't make me go back on the meds but there may not have been enough time for it have shown up .. the A1C takes a 3 month average and i had about 6 weeks to work on it.. but i'm keeping my fingers crossed!

I'm still dealing with the insur company on the flood in my condo.. everything is done now but the flooring and honest to god.. im so frustrated at the lack of info from the insur.. i keep getting emails without answers or being able to talk to an actual human... i left ANOTHER message thurs and still no reply so on monday im gonna stop being quite so polite lol

Been keeping busy with the retiree group now that the nicer weather is starting to come along we have been able to get a few group walks in which is nice... always so much easier to get people out to events in the better weather altho i have to say we had such a mild winter this year we can't really complain... still i'll be happy to see some warmer temps and sunshine coming up hopefully in the next few weeks

I'm still doing my RC shifts 2x a week.. our current deployment ends March 31st but i just heard the site is going to be extended until August.. however i have decided not to redeploy right now. i'm going to take a couple of months off to deal with the condo stuff and i need to get some dental work done and there just doesnt ever seem to be enuf time (and yet there are some days im bored.. go figure lol)

oh and my other news. my oven died last week..... i looked up the error codes on a few diff sites and they all said it was the control panel fried which would be about $600 to replace... its not that old maybe 8 yrs if i can remember... but $600 to repair i can get a new one for not much more than that.. but i decided to keep googling the code and i found one comment from a guy who said before you do ANYTHING.. just unplug the stove and plug it back in... sometimes it just needs a reset. i had nothing to lose so i tried it.. i actually left it unplugged for 24 hrs beause at the time i had a bookcase and an armoire stuffed in the kitchen cause they were shampooing the dead carpeting (useless)... and i'll be darned... i plugged it back in the next day and i'll be darned.. it worked!!! I've only used the once since lol... but it heated up fine and kept the temp and no error codes so im hoping thats all it was... and may have saved myself the repair bill or cost of a new one.... im kinda afraid to try it again lol.. but i will tonite

    so that's me updated........

The insurance work is really dragging on! That's terrible that they are treating you like that. So frustrating when you can't get hold of people.

That's so funny about your stove! The wonders of google. It's so satisfying when you find something simple that works!

Good luck with your blood work. I hope the few weeks has made the difference.

It sounds like a good idea to have a bit of a break from work, when you have other stuff going on in your life. I hope the dental work goes OK. I'm still going through mine. It was quite interesting, actually, because they did a couple of fancy scans and got really clear pictures of my teeth and also my skull with the teeth in it. It was almost disturbing seeing the pictures! They were in 3D too, and the dentist kept turning them about on the screen. I think one was a CT scan, but I'm not sure what the other one was.

    Snooozie Posts: 3,461 Member
Vail i hate seeing those xrays on the screen at the dental office lol... but never seen my skull thankfully!

My eye specialist occasionally does this scan of the optic nerve or something.. first time i saw it i swear i could see my brain and all the things stemming out from it... freaked me right out! (Turns out it wasnt it was blood vessels in the eye or something lol... so i can't imagine seeing your skull and teeth in 3D!

and yes.. google beats having to go to the library to look up something i will admit ha..

im keeping my fingers crossed for wed.. and bringing my "paper calendar" i had on the fridge where i marked down my #'s every day for the last 6 weeks.. i figure at least that way i can show her over the last 6 weeks its gone down ... even if the test doesn't show it yet she might agree to another 3 months and test again..

I wish you luck with your dental work ... mine will just take a bit of coordination for a few days so i'd rather have the time free to book as needed and yep.. getting frustrated with the insurance stuff but keep reminding myself.. perspective... wiht everything going on in the world and in my friend's lives dealing with some major stuff.. big picture its just a pain and an inconvenience.. and it will eventually get done...

Hello Hatters! Sorry it’s been so long since I popped in. Things are going okay I still haven’t established a good exercise routine due to illness (mine, grandkids, husband, parents and then my trainer…lol). I’m going again tomorrow and am hoping to do more this week. We walked after dinner tonight. I’m so happy for the time change and that we have daylight so late now. It’s supposed to get cold again starting tomorrow though.

I’m so sorry you’re still dealing with the insurance and everything Snoozie. Things like that do tend to drag on and cause way too much stress and disruptions. You’ve been putting in a lot of time with the RC for awhile now so a bit of a break will be good for you, I think. It will make you appreciate it more when you go back.

I guess our teeth are aging right along with us so it makes sense that they’re wearing out a bit. My issue right now is my jaw. I think I must be clenching it when I sleep and now it slips every once in a while. Talk about discomfort! I don’t know if that’s a dentist thing or a doctor thing. Good luck to you both on your dental work. I really hate going to the dentist. lol.

I hope your numbers are good Snoozie. Surely if you show her that they’ve been steadily down for the past six weeks then she will give you a chance before putting you back on the meds. Maybe they won’t be as bad as you’re expecting. Keep us posted.

We’ve got seven weeks until our UK trip. I’m almost done with the planning. I’ve really got to work on my stamina for those four days of walking on the Hadrian’s Wall trail. I don’t think I could do a ten mile day right now. I barely did three tonight.

That jaw thing sounds painful, Suzy! Sounds like a dentist thing to me, maybe, but I don't know! I once had problems grinding my teeth in my sleep and that was quite painful, but I think that was more muscle spasms than the jaw slipping. I hope you get it sorted. You need your sleep!

It's so close to you coming over here. It has been rubbish weather here so I'm hoping it's going to turn around in the spring ... hopefully it will be nice walking weather when you get here. You may need suncream and sun hats by then! I would love to do some of Hadrian's wall, but sadly I don't think I can ever plan to walk far again. I will just live vicariously. Even before my hip got bad I'd have struggled to do ten miles on rough ground: don't think I've done that since my 30s! I'm always so impressed with what you can do.

Our clocks haven't changed yet, but I'm waking up earlier as it's light, so I'm looking forward to it!

I'm OK thanks ... have got a cold/flu type virus that's going around at the moment so feeling a bit sorry for myself. My hip is really annoying me but it's better as I'm resting at the moment! How are you doing? Has the work on your house been completed?
  • Snooozie
    Snooozie Posts: 3,461 Member
I've been laid up for 2 days flat on my back Vail so I get the feeling sorry for yourself - sorry to hear about the virus and hope the hip enjoys its bit of better due to your enforced rest

all of the work has been done now except the carpet replacement.. i had the whole place painted on my own dime after everything was done; this week all the workers were here for the final logistics of moving me out, removing the old and replacing the new so the guy coordinating it all now will get all the avail dates from everyone and then i have to hope the elevator is avail - one of the joys of living in a condo you are at the mercy of being able to book the elevator.. honestly im exhausted tho.. i've basically been moving for 3 months.. albeit all the same furniture from room to room about 100 times .. plus trying to take the opportunity to do some deep cleaning of stuff before the new carpeting comes in. but anyway.. the end is in sight so hopefully by mid may it should all be done.. and then i can unpack all the stuff i have boxed up and start putting things back to normal.. i think my back just decided it had had enuf of moving stuff ...

i had my appt with my endo last month.. thankfully she agreed i didnt have to go back on the diabetes meds.. that was my big fear.. my AC had dropped significantly but still not quite low enough so she's given me another 3 months to get it down further and will re evalutate. i havent been eating properly with everything going on; lots of eating out and grabbing something fast rather than healthy at home so i need to get a handle on that asap.. im not gaining any weight but my goal now is not the weight but staying off the meds...

still busy with the retiree group altho i had to step back a bit this month; we had our trivia and potluck event last week which was a big hit ... seems they want to do a treetop walk this summer among other things so once this is all done i can get back to planning some cool fun stuff.

Oh poor you! That does sound so exhausting. And your back. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Big congratulations on your appointment! It's good news that you have had those results even when you know you haven't been able to eat as well as normally. So hopefully by the next appointment you will be back on track. I'm sure your endo wouldn't say to stay off the meds if she didn't think it was the right thing and that you could do it.

Hello Hatters! Sorry I've been MIA lately. I've just been really busy. Snoozie I hope your back is better. All that moving isn't helping, I'm sure. Is it all done now? Great news on not having to go back on the meds. You've got this! You can do it!

Vail, how's the hip? You talked about never being able to walk long distances again and I hear you. This pain in the ball of my foot is not pleasant but it's not a hip.

We leave on our trip in about two weeks. I have not been walking/hiking every day to prepare. I've dreamed of doing this walk along Hadrian's Wall for ages and now I'm full of anxiety about whether I can actually do it. The first day is 10 miles, second day is 7, we're supposed to rest the third day but I think we're going to do about three miles then we'll have 10 the last day instead of 13. I've just got to suck it up and do it. I just thought that I'd enjoy it and now I'm so out of shape. My own fault, totally. I've gone to the gym twice a week for a few weeks and met with a trainer for thirty minutes each time. I have yet to go on my own. We did a five mile hike to a rustic Inn a few weekends ago. It's the only way to get to the Inn. The hike was pretty strenuous and I felt awful that I did so poorly then when we ate dinner with all the other hikers they were all complaining about how hard it was. Even the people much much younger than me. So then I didn't feel quite as bad. lol.

At this point I'm just hoping that I can complete the four day hike and still have energy for some hiking in Scotland.

I hope you're both doing better between the virus, hip, back and all our lovely issues! Don't you just love getting older?

My hip is OK, thanks. I was doing some travelling again recently, and I was finding all the walking and stairs quite hard at the airport. I have a couple of future trips planned and am looking at booking hotels with the least walking which are unfortunately much more expensive! It is a bit frustrating, to be honest. At the moment I can physically do the walking, but I get a lot of pain if I do too much.

My last trip was to Vienna to see the band I like. I met a woman there, around our age, who had flown from Australia just to see this band perform! We are a bit obsessed! Somebody else had come from Argentina, and others from various European countries. I am going to see them in Sweden next.

Well done for the gym commmitment! I need to get back to regular exercise. I had been quite good but the various illnesses and travelling has knocked my routine.

That's kind of funny you thinking you were struggling with the hike to the inn and all the younger people felt the same! I'm always really impressed with what you can do. Despite your foot problems, etc.

Good luck for the Hadrian's wall trip. At least the weather here seems to be staying fairly cool - I think it's easier walking in cooler weather. And maybe you can take it easier in Scotland: do some shorter hikes and just enjoy the scenery!

Was that your favorite band, Vail? I can’t remember.

I’m in England now. We’ve completed two days along Hadrian’s Wall. Yesterday was absolutely exhausting! Today was an off day and we walked about four miles round trip to see Vindolanda Roman Museum from our B&B. It’s so hot! I’ve got sunburned! I wasn’t expecting such warm weather. It did rain on us all day the first day though.Tomorrow is our last hike day and it will be almost ten miles. My calve muscles are screaming at me. lol.

How are you both doing? What’s new?

Oh wow i can't beleive you're there in England now Suzy!! How did i miss you actually left on the trip!! OMG ten miles!! you are a far better woman than me - what an awesome accomplishment!! Yikes on the sunburn - if your calf muscles scream at you, scream back at them LOL!! have a wonderful time

Are you still here, Suzy, or back home now? I hope the last hiking day went well. I have such admiration that you are able to do that despite the foot problems, etc. The weather has been very strange here. Torrential rain, storms, hot sun, and Northern Lights!

Thank you for thinking of me at Eurovision. I was over there ... very long story, but Eurovision was a bit of a disaster this year! I won't bore you with all the politics and scandal! But I think the winner is great, loved them and a lot of the other acts too.

I did get to see the Eurovision band I like and it was an incredible experience. They loved their Eurovision experience so are playing a gig in the host city every year. Lots of stories about that, which again, I won't bore you with. I am really wanting to enjoy these experiences while I can. I have made friends with other fans that I've met at concerts, even shared a room with a couple of them in Copenhagen, and they have been so lovely and accepting of having a 60 year old tag along (they are 20s to 40s). It was also lovely to see Copenhagen (where we stayed) and a bit of Sweden. This travel is costing me a fortune but I haven't gone away for years, and you just never know how things are going to be in the future: I don't want to waste my chance.

Eating wise ... I had not been so good. When I was away I normally go for McDonalds or something with the young ones, but this time a few wanted to go out for a nice meal at a Mediterranean mostly vegetarian restaurant, which was really lovely, and I was able to buy healthy food the rest of the time (fruit and nuts and stuff).

I've just had some more of my ongoing dental work and can only eat liquid/soft food at the moment, and I think it's actually making me think more about the nutrition. I am eating quite healthily (soup, fruit and veg purees, yoghurt, etc.) and losing a little of the weight I'd gained. Exercise not so good, what with recovering from a virus recently and going away and hip pain and so on, I haven't done as much as I need, so going to get back to that gently.

Vail - i think its absolutely AWESOME that you are going to these events that bring you joy, and experience the wonder of travel and making friends of all ages and having experiences you would never have if you just stayed home!!! So i hope you keep going to EVERY single event or concert or trip that you can!!

I'm sorry about being reduced to liquids and soft foods for the moment.. i had a similar experience so hope it's on to the next stage soon and you can expand your food horizons in a bit

I haven't gained any weight but I've been making very poor choices food wise and need to smarten up.. im still trying to at least walk every day and hopefully can get back to pickleball more often but i KNOW what i really need is to figure out some strength training ..

we have had some gorgeous weather finally - i may actually be able to put away my winter sweaters and jackets now lol... i did actually buy myself a few pairs of capris and a pair of shorts for the summer...i'd really love to figure out a vacation but i'm still stuck on what kind and where as a solo travel... its like a hamster wheel it just keeps going around and around and never makes any progress

i did plant my community garden this year after all.. i wasnt going to but it's the last year i have it then it goes to someone else.. but i scaled back at least so as not to waste anything and so people dont run away screaming from me and my bags of cherry tomatos this year lol... i just went with lettuce, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower and of course the cherry tomatos but only 3 plants this year instead of 6 LOL

  • Vailara
    Vailara Posts: 2,467 Member
I don't think I realised that the garden was just temporarily yours! But maybe it will give you some more time when you pass it on the next the person. I should probably have another go at planting food in my garden. At the moment, I struggle enough just to keep the plants under control!

Lovely that you are having some warm weather at last!

I hope you work something really good out for your travelling. Is there anything you've really wanted to do/ see? It has been funny with my solo travelling to see this band: I am in a couple of chat groups with other people, and I think it was me, out of all of them who first went ahead and started buying tickets to see this band abroad, then some of the younger ones decided to come along too. A couple of them have then gone on to do a bit more solo travel. I'm quite proud that it was me as the older person who took the plunge and the younger ones who then got inspired to do more on their own!

Anyway, there has been a focus for the travelling, that I've needed, and it has been social because I've always either gone with people or met people at the gigs. I think if I was going for longer I'd need to be sure I was meeting people at some point. I think you were looking at more guided tours and cruises for that reason? I'm really interested to know what you decide on!

It's good that you are exercising and not gaining weight ... you say it as if it's not that great! I understand you want to add in more healthy choices though. I know I'm always raving about strength training, but I do think it's important, and anything is better than nothing. I'm still doing the programme I signed up for ages ago, although I'm finding it a lot harder now. But I hope you find something. You'd mentioned using the gym where you live, maybe the rowing machine or something? I can't remember how that went.

The soft diet is fine, and I think is good for me: I think I really love crispy, crunchy, chewy food and this is helping to break what is almost an addiction. I should be able to eat more normally in another week or so, I think, but I will have to be careful not to go wild!

Hello you two! We got back home on the 29th and had a wonderful trip. I ended up not doing that last day of hiking. My body was protesting and I just didn't want to do it. Luckily, my husband was very understanding about it. I mean...it was supposed to be a vacation! lol. It ended up that the last day was mostly walking along the road anyway so no big loss. We enjoyed the North York Moors by basically resting in our airbnb which was on a farm and very private. We had two days in Edinburgh which was plenty for us. It absolutely poured rain while we were in Inverness but we managed to tour Culloden. The Isle of Skye was breathtaking! Those roads though. Wow! Basically single lane roads with pull offs to pass...full of pot holes and the edges were just drop offs. We did minimal hiking on Skye due to crowds of people. I did manage to slip on some loose gravel and I've done something to my left thumb. I guess I need to go to the doctor.

I was sick with a cough and cold the first five days of our trip. We got home and four days later I was sick again...a cold I think. I'm really starting to worry that my immune system is compromised. I never used to get sick and now I've had this congestion, cold, cough off and on for over a year. I'm so tired of it.

We watched the news in the UK and did see something about a Eurovision scandal but it went over my head. I'm so glad that you're traveling, making friends and having that experience, Vail. Keep showing those young people that 60 isn't the end of the world! I turned 63 this past Monday and I'm a little shocked that I'm that old. I just don't think of myself that way.

Snoozie, I think the gardening is awesome. I wish I was green thumb inclined but I'm just not. I do go to the Farmer's Market and support those that are though. Did you ever decide on what you're going to do travel wise? The whole time I was driving in the UK I kept thinking that being on one of those tour buses and letting someone else do the driving and planning sounded pretty darn good!

I've got to get back to some sort of healthy routine. The gym is running a special on personal training packages and I may do that so that I can figure out a good fitness routine. It's a ten session package and I could go twice a week and have them show me strength training routines. Oddly enough, I haven't been as drawn to sweets lately as I've always been. Wouldn't that be awesome if I didn't crave them all the time? I need to schedule my annual physical but I really dread my A1C results.

Anyway, sorry I haven't been on as much lately but things are hopefully calming down now.

Sorry, I didn't get any new post alert! Thank you for the update, Suzy! Is everything OK with you, Snoozie? It's been a while.

The roads in the North of Scotland are an adventure! I remember the miles and miles of single lane and pulling over to let people pass or overtake. So long since I've been up that way. I have been to Skye a couple of times. It's very beautiful, but yes, it does get a lot of tourists compared to some of the islands.

I hope you are over the colds and infections now, Suzy. Well done on getting a healthy routine! And good luck with your physical.

My hip is now just bone on bone, so I'm looking at a replacment, but exercise is kind of difficult. And I've been in the office a lot at work and there is too much stuff to eat. I am trying to go back to the eating that worked for me before, and stop making excuses (because these things are just excuses - they aren't physically stopping me eating better food in smaller amounts!). My clothes are tight and it's really annoying me.

Vail I’m so sorry to hear about your hip. If it’s any consolation, I’ve heard from people who have had a hip replacement that it’s so much easier than they thought it would be. I hope that’s the case with you. With nationalized healthcare will you be on a waiting list? If so then you have time to get some strength training going before your operation. I know it will be difficult but it would really help with recovery.

I have the upmost confidence in you that you can get your eating under control. You’ve done it before and so successfully!!! You can do it!

    Snoozie, how’s the garden growing?

We spent today (4th of July) playing in the pool with the grandkids. It was a terrific and HOT day. I’m exhausted. Happy birthday America!

Thanks, Suzie, that's good to know! Yes, there's a waiting list, I haven't gone on it yet because there are advantages to postponing (second replacements don't work well). It was several years, but I think has reduced quite a bit now, so maybe two years or possibly even less than a year just at the moment. I still do some strength training, but annoyingly I'm limited because of my hip! I can't decide at the moment whether to solider on as the it's just a case of putting up with pain, but I do want to be more active, because, big news, my grandson has arrived! And he's absolutely amazing!

Lovely to hear about you playing with the grandkids, Suzy! I am so looking forward to that! I bet it is exhausting though. But it's lovely that you see so much of them and have that close relationship with them.

CONGRATULATIONS GRANDMA!!! How exciting! I’m so very happy for you all! I love being a GaGa, that’s the name my granddaughter gave me. Get as many snuggles as you can.

I know it’s hard to know when to do the replacement surgeries. It’s the same with a knee. I’m hoping I can avoid it but I doubt I’ll be able to. Right now it’s all good but there are days that it really isn’t. I guess we should just be grateful that they have these surgeries available at all.

Hiya!! Sorry i could have sworn i replied a few days ago but i'm obviously losing my mind ....

Vail I almost missed your grandson arrived??? omg i was just going to ask isnt he due soon. CONGRATULATIONS!! AWWW what's his name (if you're comfy sharing?) One of my retiree peeps just had their first grandchild.. so far they have gotten a lot of 2am calls for help from the new mom lol

From what i've heard its always a tuff call when to do replacement surgeries whether hip or knees.. i think once your quality of life is affected where its that bad? and of course the reason... if its down to bone on bone tho i have heard that is excruitating pain i know a few of my friends have had cortisone shots in knees to tide them over.. my cousin who is ... 66 i think? had her one knee replaced last year and just had the 2nd one done monday... im sorry its so painful for you

suzy im glad you enjoyed the trip but sorry u got sick . hope you are all recovered now??

Nothing new here... FINALLY the work was finished from the floods about 3 weeks ago... well they have to come back to fix a bit of the tile edging i am not happy with... but otherwise everything is done. i have to get new furniture at least a couch and a chair but for now.. after 5 months of waiting around to know whats being done when and not being able to make any plans, im taking the summer off from all of it and just having fun! Been enjoying the outings with our retiree group... have managed to get together with a few friends on patios so all is ok in my world.. i do have to get bloodwork done soon; im a little worried as my eating hasnt been the best and i havent been moving as much as i should... but still working on improving both so hoping im good to stay off the meds....

p.s. as to the garden... i tossed in some broccoli and cauliflower this year just for the heck of it.. did nothing to them but holy cow... got 5 broccoli and 3 cauli that were amazing lol.. who knew!! lots of lettuce and just waiting on the tomatos to start turning.. we've had a lot of rain which made all the greens explode but need the heat for the tomatos.. we're heading into a heat wave so will be keeping an eye out lol... this is my last year with the garden so i only planted what i will eat this time... carrots should be ready in another 2 weeks or so and getting a few strawberries... but most proud of my broccoli and cauli (even tho it was mother nature who did the actual work not me LOL)

It's lovely to hear from you Snoozie ... I have done the same thing where I'm sure I've posted and then it never appeared!

I'm glad you finally got the work done. That has really dragged on and on, and it must be so unsettling having to move out and back in again, and still be unpacking. But well done on the garden! I think I mentioned I joined a gardening group. Well, it's still beyond me and my garden is a jungle at the moment as I've been off grandparenting and the weather has been so strange here that I haven't got anything done.

I wouldn't say the hip pain is excruciating - actually most of the time it's quite mild, and then seems to get worse for no reason. I don't understand, and think it's about the level of inflammation or something. So I'm taking rosehip and collagen at the moment in the hope it does something ... but thinking seriously about the replacement as it's stopping me doing so much.

One of my friends had knee replacement surgery a while ago, Suzy! She is raving about and urging me to do my hip. She says it's "life changing"! She was always hobbling about with walking aids and now she's active and sprightly.

I can't get into my MFP site on my phone cause i need to find my password first lol.. but on my laptop its saved i just can't see it... its weird cause my phone will let me wander the site but when i try to post i have to log in apparently there... anyway i'll stick to the laptop for now lol

my cousin who had her knee surgery last monday was up and walking by thurs albeit with a cane to start but it kinda blows my mind when i think just a few days after a knee replacement people are up and moving... and she was released from hospital the day after the surgery.. guess in my head i think back to the old days when after any surgery u were in there for a couple of weeks!

Right now i am kinda just putting the rest of the "unpacking" and sorting on hold just to enjoy the summer.. it's almost all done actually just some of the bins where i literally threw in stuff laying around the night before when i found out they were coming the next day for the entire week LOL.. I PEEKED in one of the bins.. everything in there from a heating pad to purses to electronic cords, a pair of slippers and the box with all the old letters i found my mom wrote to my dad years ago... so put the lid back on that one it can wait LOL

Vail & Suzy. its funny we have some "new" grandparents in our retiree group... 2 of whom recently babysat from just a day to 4 days with various ages but all under 4... i got a text msg from one the first night IM EXHAUSTED .. the other one texted me after 2 days saying i need food and i need a drink LOLOL... others are dealing with the 2am "mom help what do i do" from the new parents .. they are of course all in love with the grandkids but admit its hard keeping up with them sometimes LOL!

Snoozie I can not believe it has taken so long to get everything fixed. I’m so impatient with stuff like that. I’m glad the end is in sight and it’s just putting away stuff. You may decide you don’t even need most of that stuff anyway.

I’ve hear way more positive outcomes than negative with knee and hip replacements. So that’s encouraging but still scary. My knee doesn’t bother me much any more but we also haven’t been hiking much at all…or even walking, really. I’ve got to change that but not in this heat. It has consistently been in the 90’s (32 to 35) with 80% humidity.

We kept both grandkids overnight on Saturday. Yes, I was exhausted and needed a drink afterwards. lol. They’re four and one and full of energy! We need to do it more often to give their mom a break.
