Made it to WI. I got to the airport at 4:24a for a 5:00a flight 😲 - still made it! woop!
The Celebration of Life was lovely. Really lovely. Def had some veggies, but it was a buffet style heavy on smoked meats and cheese (it's WI, lol), and stuff. There was a delicious pasta salad with bowties and green beans and avocado and other veggies, and a raw veggies plate. I had some carrots, cauliflower and cherry tomatoes.
CRAZY tired. Farmer's market looks fantastic SG !

It’s great you made it to WI @mkksemail !
The farmers market items look very nice @SafariGalNYC !2 -
Thanks, ladies Back in Maine today! Happy to be home. My niece flew up from New York to watch my daughter's 3 dogs and 2 cats, and peek in on our 3 cats, while we were gone. What a luvvie 💜💜💜. She picked my daughter and I up from the airport, we had lunch at a cute restaurant in Portland:
I didn't have greens, but I did have delicious fruit & nuts, & a delicious Turmeric Latte ~
Turmeric Latte (me), Iced Chai (daughter), Affogato (house matcha over vanilla ice cream + crushed pistachios & espresso shot) (niece):
Ricotta Tartine, w/ fresh raspberries, pistachios, lemon zest, mint, honey (me):
Super cute menu! ~
Dinner in WI was thin crust pizza, Culver's and lasagna, so a bit of a bust there , but I did have salad with the lasagna, and skipped the garlic bread ;-).
I had a Bartlett Pear, a Banana, and a Oui Yogurt Pot for breakfast this morning, before my 7a flight, and apple chips, pistachios, apple juice and tea on the flights (to Detroit, then to Portland), so, yes to freggies and nuts, but no to greens.
In WI, we went to Original Pancake House for breakfast on Monday. The healthy options weren't as extensive as they were at Golden Nest Pancakes & Cafe on Sunday, where I got the Invincibility Juice and Veggie Bowl, but I got fruit crepes, and strawberries and whipped cream. I split half of the strawberries with hubby, and brought the other half home with me, along with half of the crepes. I'll have them for breakfast tomorrow .
Blueberry Crepe, with fresh homemade whipped cream; Peach Crepe, with raspberry syrup; Mandarin Crepe, with tropical syrup:
Fresh Sliced Strawberries, with fresh homemade whipped cream:
I am unbelievably still slightly stuffed up, still have a slight cough, and my lips have been wildly chapped since the flight out to WI, despite drinking over 24 z of fluids (water, tea, and apple juice) on each of the flights there, and doing a very good job of hydrating with more water than usual over the 3.5 days there. When I left this morning, my MIL went back to bed instead of coming to the airport as she had planned - she said she wasn't sure if she slept poorly, or if she was coming down with something 😬, I hope not the latter! (I'm Covid Day 23 for goodness sakes, why do I still have stuffiness 🤔).

Gosh that looks fabulous! The next time I'm in Whole Foods or Trader Joe's, I'm going to have to look for this celery juice you keep raving about, SG. I never would have thought to drink celery juice! But I def want to try it.
Woke up with a sore throat this morning :-(. I hope it's just from the planes, and not a thing.
Happy Green Day, lovelies!1 -
Eating my greens but no photos from my phone loading.2

Leftover Wisconsin Greens!
It doesn't looks as pretty as the first time ;-), but it's just as yummy! Restaurant meals are almost always too big, I always ask for a takeout container and bring home half. I added 2 new eggs to make a meal. I left it warming in the oven a tad too long, but it's hard to screw up leftover veggie bowl & eggs . It's a bit dryer, but sorta kinda even yummier! lol~

Saturday Freggies~!
I guess I'm going to spend the whole month of November sick 😖. I woke up with a sore throat on Wednesday, after my flight home Tuesday. My Covid clammy sweats had finally just subsided the Wednesday before, but I was still stuffed up and voice hoarse. I felt like it was finally gone (except for very chapped lips!), the day of my flight home (23 days since Covid onset!) ... and then I woke up with the damn sore throat on Wed. It was gone on Thur, I thought it was a one-off, but back with a vengeance yesterday and today. Sneezing and runny nose again too. I Covid tested on Wed, checking for 'Rebound Covid' from the Paxlovid course of treatment, but nope, still negative.
Anyway, I guess just some kind of garden variety sore throat. My seatmate on the 2nd flight from Detroit to Portland had a continuous slight cough, and throat clearing, maybe I caught a bug from her?
Dayquilling again/still, and gargling with warm salty water. And my Greens today are a makeshift soup:
1/4 cup It's Delish Soup Vegetables
1/2 cup Diced Tomatoes
1/2 can Butter Beans
2/3 cup Frozen Sweet Peas
12 oz water
3 min in mic, stir, 3 min more, done. No broth or bouillon required. It's Delish Soup Veg are bursting with flavor. It's a "Delicious mix of dehydrated vegetables including Carrots, Red Bell Pepper, Onion, Green Bell Pepper, Parsley, Celery", according to their website. They are correct, it IS delicious. I've had them bare, with just 8z water, added to Jambalaya (with the 8z water), and in makeshift soups with other veg added (like today's diced tomatoes, frozen sweet peas, and butter beans). Def recommend!
Doesn't look yummy here, but it is. That's all the parsley gathered on top:

Feel better MK! @mkksemail
You’ve been sick for so long.. have you seen a doctor? Seems like maybe your immunity is low?
Maybe a dietician for nutrition to boost your immunity? Your doctor should be able to do an immunoglobulin test to check immune function.
Hopefully the greens and nature mades will give you a boost!
Interestingly- I reading an article on Healthline and a pubmed article about processed foods relating to gut health equaling low immunity:
“Diets high in fast food and highly processed foods may drive inflammation, increase gut permeability, and cause bacteria imbalance in the gut, all of which can negatively affect your immune health”
Maybe ditch anything that isn’t a natural, whole food and see if it helps? Hope you can figure out the source soon!
Feel better 💐1 -

I have been sick for so long :-(. I checked on my calendar, first Covid symptoms started Oct 28 😒.
Yes, I actually did see my doctor a couple weeks ago, on Wed Nov 13, for a previously scheduled 6-mos physical followup for cholesterol and a1c. That was Covid Day 17, according to my calendar. Doc didn't seem concerned that I was still stuffed up and my voice was still hoarse 🤷♀️.
For sure, good advice on the diet. I will make a better effort. I appreciate the advice! hugs ~
And ... as always, your plates are so inspiring ! I absolutely love seeing them 😊🥰1 -
More leftover WI crepes! One more after this, tonight I had the leftover blueberry crepe, strawberries & whipped cream, with new pecans, for dinner: The crepes and strawberries were pretty easy to eat, but the pecans were kind of painful, with the sore throat 😒.
I really loved the Juiced! Invincibility Juice (Kale, Kiwi, Apple, & Lemon) I had out there. Turns out you can get it shipped. and they are even having a Black Friday sale, but the shipping cost was $69 for a 12-pack .... soooo, pass. lol
I added a couple Naked Juice Green Machines to my Shaw's Supermarket order for tomorrow, and some other juices to my Dec 3 Amazon Subscribe & Save monthly shipment (Raw Fountain, R.W. Knudsen, Raw Generation, and V8). I've really been enjoying my Pitted Dates, and I loved the Seneca Apple Chips I was given as a snack on my Delta flights, lol, so I added some more dried fruits to my monthly Sub & Save order too. Turns out the Seneca Apple Chıps have added sugarö so I bought some other brands that dıdn't have added sugar (tho I did get one order of the Seneca Apple chips, too, lol).
My local supermarket has a fairly new 'Shop the Meals/Recipes' feature, so I tried it out. I added 'Citrus Chicken Quinoa Salad with Avocado & Orange' to my basket (they add the ingredients, I cook it). It sounds pretty good, but I may have to wait until Mon or Tue to cook it. I didn't expect it would be hard to swallow pecans (!), I may stick to soup and my last crepe tomorrow. Add an egg, instead of nuts, I guess. I had almonds yesterday, and that wasn't a problem, tho my throat was more painful this morning, than it was yesterday. I've dayquilled, and gargled with warm salty water, 3x today (I'll do another before bed ... ). I do also have a chili cup to eat, too. Well, the airport security confiscated my Culver's Chili Cup actually (boo!), but I still really kinda want it, so I may pop in to Wendy's to get a replacement ;-).
I added some avocados, for avocado toast. It's really grown on me, and it's an easy way to get greens and freg in (when I also add the fried tomatoes). A few times, I've had the avocado toast with greens and balsamic vinegar, in addition to the egg and tomato, so I added some butter lettuce, and spinach, to the order, as well.1 -
@mkksemail - love the kale juices too!
Todays greens:
Shake: purple kale, beets, pomegranate, spinach.
Went to farmers market and they had the loveliest watercress and rainbow chard!
Will eat later with more protein on side.

I picked up my grocery order this evening. I'll only have a couple clementines and an orange from it, for today's freg (I baked an apple for brunch this afternoon, along with the last partial fruit crepe from WI, and a couple eggs). I picked up a chili cup from Wendy's (still had the hankering, TSA confiscated mine in Wisconsin, lol). Only ate a quarter of it, tho. And a small frosty! The frosty actually felt quite soothing. The chili was a challenge, but I love beans, so I ate the 7 spoonfuls, lol.
I think I'll call the doc in the morning to see if I should get checked for strep. Throat continues to be quite painful, but other than the associated effect on my voice, I have no other symptoms that I note (no fever, white spots, swollen glands, etc). I honestly don't remember ever having a sore throat for more than a day or two, before this. I loaded up on throat numbing sprays/gargles (Chloraseptic, etc) and medicated lozenges this evening, too. Not sure why I didn't think of it before - Duh! I've just been using tea & honey, warm salty water to gargle, and DayQuil. I went back to the supermarket several hours after going over to pick up my online order. Just totally, absolutely, did NOT occur to me until late this afternoon, when I was still nursing my breakfast protein tea, b/c it was too painful to swallow . Actually, I do know why I didn't think of it - it's been well over a decade, maybe 2, since I had a sore throat that required treating! [Edit! I just checked the recycles for the bottle of Chloreseptic that I found in my cabinet this afternoon - it expired in 2007 😮, so, yea, it's been a minute since I had a sore throat, lol.]
I took another Covid test just to make double sure it's not 'rebound Covid' from Paxlovid. It's not - still negative (was negative on Wed too, when I woke up with the sore throat, initially). No one else at the gathering in WI got sick, so in my mind's eye, I'm giving the side eye to my seatmate who was lightly coughing and clearing her throat the whole 2 hr flight from Detroit 🤒🤨
I'm planning on flying again on Thursday, dang it! I hope this clears up 😫. I'm heading your way, @SafariGal. Thanksgiving morning flight into JFK (or LaGuardia? I can't remember). One way is JFK, the other way is LaGuardia. Home again on Friday, hubby is still in WI until Dec 3, and I'm leaving the kitties unattended while I fly home to NY for Thanksgiving - hopefully they'll be ok 😬😸
Brunch - Baked Macoun apple, with Ceylon Cinnamon, 2 eggs, last leftover fruit crepe from WI (peach crepe):
Snack - Naval Orange, and 2 Clementines (no pix)

Monday Greens~!
Avocado on Sourdough English Muffin, w/ Lemon Juice, Olive Oil, & Smoked Paprika, with Olive-oil-fried Diced tomatoes and Eggs, topped with Butter Lettuce & White Balsamic Vinegar:
I used butter on the bread, which I ususually don't do, but today was an English muffin instead of Dave's Killer bread, I felt like the nooks and crannies needed the butter 😜. They didn't! The greens were good, but should have skipped the balsamic, too (in addition to skipping the butter on the English muffins), the vinegar was biting at my throat.
I saw the doc today - not bacterial, just a garden variety viral infection aka a cold. I feel a bit silly for going to the doc for a cold, but I did get a scrip for a 2-day course of steroids, to help make swallowing less painful, so that's good.

Not the prettiest pic… but started the day with:
a 🌿kale
purple kale
watercress
pomegranate and
beets shake. 🍸

Monday Greens, Part 2!
Baked apple (so it would be soft, for my throat) w/ Ceylon cinnamon, kiwi, banana, purple grapes, 2 clementines, Green Machine Juice:
Not pictured, but logged, protein tea, and a serving of pb (on a spoon). Not sure if I'll get to the pb, been working on the fruit for about 20 mins. The apple and banana were very soothing on my throat, but the kiwi was surprisingly sting-y. Nervous about the clemmies, but we'll see. I was going to have an orange and 2 clemmies last night, but deleted them from my food log b/c I didn't want to swallow anything else other than liquids, after my quarter serving of chili, and frosty (that was nice on my throat, lol).
So annoyed that a basic viral infection is being so troublesome! Grateful for the steroid course, tho.

TY! I deleted 1 of the clementines, and the Green Machine, and the peanut butter from my food log for last night - I couldn't swallow any more sting-y citrus . Actually, I didn't want to swallow any more at all. It took me over 2 hrs to finish that fruit plate (minus one clemmie). BUT! I had the Green Machine Juice for breakfast this morning 😊. It's quite good. I was reading the ingredients while I was drinking it, it must be the pineapple and the kiwi in it that was stinging me.
The difficulty swallowing is helping my calorie counts, ha! 1,241 Monday, 1,263 Sunday, 1,220 Saturday, 1,210 Friday ... 2,448 Thursday (!!!) Over 100 of those are from cough drops, lozenges, and DayQuil, too, on most of those days (163 Monday, 114 Sunday, 140 Saturday, 71 Friday).
SO much easier to swallow today (yay steroids, lol). The citrus still is sting-y, tho. I'll be having another avocado, tomatoes and egg on a (different flavor - light wholegrain this time) English muffin (without the butter! lol), and butter lettuce (without the Balsamic Vinegar! heh), for a late lunch, in a bit.
Undecided if dinner will be another portion of the chili from Monday, another fruit salad, or soup. Maybe some fruit, and some chili, we'll see ...0 -
Tues Greens! Breakfast Green Machine Juice from yesterday (not pictured), Lunch, Avocado Toast on Light Multigrain English muffin (no butter today - tastes the same, lol), and Butter Lettuce (no White Balsamic Vinegar drizzle today):

Today was busy in the grocery stores. Hubby and I went to three different stores.
Picked up my veggies and prepped the rainbow chard. Tomorrow I have the carrots , peppers, and green beans to prep.
The chard is so pretty! I’m so happy I can eat it again!
@SafariGalNYC - Love the green smoothies.
@mkksemail, I love the butter lettuce! Sorry you’re dealing with throat issues.
