Sorry to read this, Yooly. What a maddening situation. I hope you get some clarity soon. The waiting and awfulizing is just too stressful. And how can you not awfulize at least a little with partial "bad" news.

Well it’s definitely malignant and biopsy says invasive….. neither of which sound promising. But I think it’s fairly small and had regular mammograms so maybe 🤔.

The goal now is to get through Thanksgiving festivities, gatherings with friends without collapsing in a heap of tears and worry.

Man, I'm so sorry, this sucks. My mother went through the same diagnosis and had a surgery. She is fine now (and you will be too!) but the whole thing is nerve-wracking.

    Wishing for a speedy recovery!

Yooly, so sorry for your anything-but-great news. Please do try to put it out of your mind, best you can, and enjoy the holiday weekend - what's good for the soul is nourishing for the body.

Oh Yooly I'm sorry you're facing worry, surgery and uncertainty - let's hope the regular mammograms mean that it's been caught early and you make a full recovery!

Thank you all so much for the positive encouragement. I’m slowly getting past the shock. I’ll get more info when I see the surgeon next week. Until then I’ll try to see this as a good thing - I could have gone along in blissful ignorance for a long time.

I’m so happy to hear from our “lurkers”. How is maintenance going Dante? Been a long time since we heard from you.
How’s the stress recovery going Bella? Hope you’re being kind to yourself.
And BC - you need to join in more often. So much wisdom to share.

Regular testing is good for sure. Annoying when bodies don't behave. But you're on it. And at least you guys do tend to move fast in the south!

Saw the surgeon today. He was very assuring. I’ve got a very small (1cm) tumor so it’s stage 1. I’ll be getting a lumpectomy TBA and follow up radiation ☢️. Of course this assumes no surprises. So all things considered it’s pretty hopeful that it can be successfully handled.

Maybe now I’ll be able to get some sleep! Funny how your mind torments your soul….

From the perspective of someone in the medical field, that sounds about as good as you could have hoped for given the circumstances, Yooly.

I am going to rank Dannon light + fit yogurt flavors I have this far eaten:

    1. Caramel apple pie (so freaking good)
    2. Key lime pie (also very good
    3. Tiramisu (acceptable, probably won't buy again)

Flavors I have and will rank once I have tried:

    Strawberry cheesecake
    Toasted marshmallow
    Boston cream pie

Flavors I want to try but can't find:

    Raspberry chocolate
    Raspberry
    Lemon cream
    Orange cream
    Salted caramel

Flavors I can find easily, but haven't bought because they're generic, which I'd very probably like:

    Cherry
    Peach
    Strawberry

Flavors I haven't tried because I am uncertain or just don't like:

Pumpkin pie (uncertain, think I might like)
Vanilla (probably fine but I don't bother with vanilla yogurt)
Blueberry (not my jam, but would eat if only choice)
Banana cream (doubtful, but might try if free)
    Strawberry banana (nope)
    Toasted coconut vanila (nope)

Okay, so the rankings now go:

    1. Caramel apple pie (so freaking good)
    2. Key lime pie (also very good)
    3. Boston cream pie (tasty!)
    4. Tiramisu (acceptable, probably won't buy again)

I must admit I really like the Yoplait lite vanilla. I’ve tried other flavors but generally have the vanilla with fresh berries. If calories didn’t count I’d get the Oui yogurts because they are ridiculously delicious. Both calories and price are double most lo-cal brands.

@nicsflyingcircus - thanks for taking one for the team with all this market research...😆

@Yoolypr - that was actually very good news, considering, feel better and get some sleep m'dear

I completed my BodySlims program this week, tomorrow is my celebration night. Earlier in the week I completed the final challenge, a 10k walk - mine was probably 8.8, but felt great doing it. My brother walked with me, bless him.

I finished with a whimper vs a bang, had been stagnant in weightloss for a week, then succumbed to LNS of holiday goodies that bought in advance when on sale, in the misguided belief I could keep them unopened in a cupboard only a few feet from where I watch evening television!! So then I was UP on last weigh-in...and missed my 10% goal...but I have come to terms with it (and cleared out the cupboards lol) and I will still celebrate that I walked almost every day, am still down 20 lbs over the 10 werks, and breezed through the final walk challenge!

I plan to keep walking daily and stay in a small deficit except for the actual 'feast' days (for me I have declared Dec 24, 25, 26 + Dec 31/Jan 1 as feast days), and I have signed up for the next BodySlims session which starts Jan 22, and hope to have gotten to my 10% goal by then!

This is pretty good news Yooly! 🤞

BC lady! That's good stuff! Maybe puppy and I should come for a walk with you.... she is slow enough lately that I doubt we would make your 8.8!

So BC what exactly is a Body Slims program? I haven’t heard of that - maybe a Canadian thing? How does it work?
After I get through my current health mess, I’m planning on checking out Pilates. Supposed to be good for old people! Since I haven’t been pounding the treadmill at the gym for several weeks I actually feel less pain and joint stiffness. Maybe it’s time to do something kinder and gentler. I won’t burn lots of calories but maybe I won’t feel like crap afterward.

BodySlims is an online Irish program, run by performance coach Gerard Moran. His background is business and sports, but turned his hand to weightloss. It is an 'eat less, move more' program at it's heart, but so much more because he really gets into your head (using storytelling and CBT principles). Full commitment for 10 weeks (unfortunately I started slacking after 8!). I miss it now that it's finished and look forward to the next session - really helped me with belief I will eventually be successful and do this thing, plus getting me going with daily activity. But he's a total character and pushes hard, so not for everyone 🙄!

    WOW NIC! This is awesome!

Head and internal hamster management is a major part of this whole thing!

HEY! On the subject. "new" discoveries. Instead of chewing to kill.... or pacing with intent, I am now trying "walking around while holding" one of the "shark/bissel/3rd party no name" electric steam spin-mop thingies. They spin around and vibrate and you can move them back and forth and place in little corners and go back and worth with them vigorously if you want, or you can just sit there and veg and you can even be on the phone while using them because they are not too too too loud.... and as a result I did not shoot at least two people **AND** I did not eat a whole whack of chocolate AND I got more clean kitchen and bathroom than I had before I started.... what more can one ask for!?????

I tried both the shark and bissel from black friday. shark is good enough but lighter build and the way you add and remove water is brain dead (water tank is not detachable) plus no led lights.

bissel is much more substantial though NOT necessarily more "effective" in terms of cleaning (both are WAY lower than a yacht mop when it comes to cleaning). AND it has LED lights to shine ahead. AND it came with an extra set of pads. And it has a perfectly reasonable add and remove water reservoir--you remove the reservoir, undo the cap, add or empty water and re-cap). All together for the less than $20 price difference during the sale it made no sense to stick with the shark so back it went.

PS: bucket and mop work better. BUT.... very soothing to watch the spinny thingies spin!

Updated Dannon light + fit yogurt rankings:

    1. Caramel apple pie (it's easily the best)
    2. Key lime pie (love it, but it gets edged out)
    3. Toasted marshmallow
    4. Strawberry cheesecake
    5. Boston cream pie
    6. Tiramisu (has been relegated to definitely don't buy)

3-4-5 are all pretty even, the drop off to Tiramisu is large, with the top two being clear winners

Fantastic news, Yooly. Here, 1cm is the border for chemo or no chemo. I'm glad you don't have to go that route. I just called to book my mammogram. Really not looking forward to thinking about any of that. I opted out of some recommended treatments and really don't want to find that I made the wrong choice :)

Is the tumour on your left or right side?

If it is on your left - there is some research out there discussing the "heart
risks involved with left breast radiation that is worth looking up - depending on the chances of reoccurence.

Yup mine is left side. The ultrasound doesn’t show lymph node problems but that will be determined at surgery. It looks like the implications for radiation caused heart disease are mainly for much younger women.

As a 77 year old former obese smoker I already have plenty of deposits in my arteries. The cardiologist had been monitoring that and I’m good as long as nothing breaks loose. I’m past my “Best Buy” date so I’ll just do what I gotta do to get some more years to have fun.

I’ve discussed bilateral mastectomy if there’s a recurrence.

The leaves on our few deciduous trees have finally turned yellow and red. Perhaps it’s the rain we got last week. And there’s a freeze warning tonight. Woohoo 🙌. Soup and sweater weather at last.

I hope and expect that everything will be clean... for everyone.

Updated Dannon light + fit yogurt rankings, with commentary, since I tried the pumpkin pie flavor:

    1. Caramel apple pie (it's the best, good brown sugar caramel flavor with little chunks of well-seasoned cooked apple pieces)
    2. Key lime pie (love it, good but not overpowering key lime tartness/sweetness that plays well with the yogurt tang, but it gets edged out)
    3. Pumpkin pie (very good pumpkin pie spice flavor, which was interesting with the yogurt tang, not overly sweet)
    3. Toasted marshmallow (sweet, but a nice toasty flavor, I think it would work well as a topping for things)
    4. Strawberry cheesecake (good, basic, better than most artificial cheesecake flavors, could use more strawberry flavor)
    5. Boston cream pie (mostly just sweet, like the filling of the Boston cream pie, but with slight yogurt tang)
    6. Tiramisu (has been relegated to definitely don't buy, flavor is weird but I can't describe why)

I am going to try the banana cream pie flavor, since I got it on a buy 3, get 4th free.

3-4-5 are all pretty even, the drop off to Tiramisu is large, with the top two being clear winners
