Between Oct and Dec, my weight jumped up 10 pounds, from 209 to 220. It was a hard fight to reverse that upward trend, but it seems to be working again. Lost 5 pounds in January and hope to lose the other 5 this month. Still nervous and vigilant...

Got to sleep in this morning!!
We have rain here so no walking for me. It's not supposed to rain tomorrow. We'll see.
I ground coffee beans then made soup.
We have Bean for the weekend. The kids went to a cabin with some of their friends.

Today was a bit windy and cool. I had to make a grocery order and after it was delivered I got out there and went to the post office and back. It was a warm wind going but a colder wind coming home...strange. I did 5.40 miles in 105 mins. Not too many folks were out walking.
It was a good walk.
The groundhog said there will be 6 more weeks of winter.

Kathy enjoy your cruise. Make great food choices and you can get into the 150's!
Paula glad you reversed that upward gain. We are here for you.
Chris I love sleeping in. Glad you were able to.
Doing a pushup challenge. Starting on my knees this time. My foot is a bit swollen. Not sure how that happened. Did 3 sets of 15 pushups. Love the new carpet. Smells great. Also removed my water heater from the display tank. Now there are 2 shorter ones in the sump. Out of sight!

I went to one of the local malls with a friend to help her find a mother of the bride dress. We found the perfect dress and it was on sale.🙂 She looks so pretty in it.
I had my hamburger yesterday and got it out of my system. Back to veggies tomorrow but will have seafood or chicken 2-3 times a week. I think I need the protein. Plan to workout 4-5 days a week.

Kathy,
Sounds like you're good at listening to your body. Because that hamburger sounded necessary!
It's hard for me. I was taught to think of food as fuel. And I learned there were different kinds of fuel, like starch, protein, alcohol and fat. And fuel is what is stored as fat. So easy-easy, right? Less fuel, less fat...
But I've learned that the different "fuels" also have different functions; protein builds muscle, fiber helps digestion, fats help absorption of vitamin, etc. So I have to watch what I limit. Finding the balance was/is the trick.
My body whispers its needs so quietly. When it craves fats, that's okay for me. I feed it good fats (avo, olive oil, etc) but not red meat, and it metabolizes fats well. So that's easy for me. I don't have to be too careful. (Except that sometimes I forget how many calories they pack.)
But starches are another story because they're my triggers. Just cutting them out completely would be get rid of the trigger completely. But my body whispers not to do that; it needs them. But when I start on them, it's just too *#! easy to get carried away. My challenge is to walk a very fine line. That's hard.
Paula
(It'd probably be okay to cut out alcohol completely, just don't wanna. :noway:)1 -
We had Collin this morning. He and I walked over to the farm then to the dog park then home.1.49 miles in 38 mins. It was cold and windy. Didn't feel that way when we left the house. Mother Nature got us good!
Saw my trainer for a 60 min workout this afternoon.
Pat is p/u Ronan for an afternoon of homework and games.
I'm munching popcorn and am going to read.

Kathy what a fun day. Shopping with friends is always fun. Hope you had that burger with the mother of the bride. My favorite food.
Paula you sound like you are really struggling this time. It might be worth it to buy only exactly what you want to eatfor a couple of days at a time. Then you will be careful with your food supply. If I was single it is what I would try. Wish you luck.
Chris that sounds cold. And so invigorating. Great time spent with Collin.
Had a migraine today at work. So missed my workout. But I did get in my pushups. 3 sets of 15 again. 60 work days lef until retirement. Excited today about it.

We have Collin this morning. Feeding him while he is watching Paw Patrol. So funny! Making sure he has what he needs to play with the Paw Patrol figures.
It is raining and raining and raining here in Northern California! Winds to 23 mph!!!
Ronan will be here this afternoon.
I am doing nothing!!

Did an indoor 40 minute walk with Leslie Sansone and a 15 minute upper body strength training. I had my yearly checkup with the gynecologist and somehow we had a conversation about grief and depression. She gave me a lot to think about. The last 4 months have been so tough. I knew it would be difficult but my mother’s death has been pain beyond anything I could ever imagine.
Dr Birt said there is not a quick fix or even a long term solution. It is something that will continue to change and evolve over time. There is no expiration date for grief. Try to take each moment, each day as it comes. Give yourself grace and have patience. You grieve on your own time, no one else’s. She said don’t let anyone rush you through, take your time.
I’ve been thinking about her words all night. I think they helped. I hope so.

Kathy, for me, the hurt never goes away. It does get easier to handle over time. I miss Nick every day and I feel he is still here with me. He's in my heart. I'll be out walking and ask, "Are you walking with me, Nick?" then a breeze will hit me out of nowhere. That's him sayin', "Yes, mom."
Dr. Birt's words are right-on.
Sending you love and hugs.

We had Collin this morning. He and I went out for only 1.10 miles in 28 mins cuz he fell asleep! Pat watched him sleep while I went to my trainer for a 60 min workout. Ronan is here now doing homework w/Grandpa and playing video games.
It's beautiful today. Supposed to rain again tomorrow. We'll see.
Chris1 -
I completed 50 minutes on the recumbent, a core workout and a upper body workout.
Thanks Chris.

Kathy your doctor is so right. Grieving is personal and sharing can help. You and your mom were so close. I miss my father and mother in law everyday. I wish they could have seen our cabin. Their great grandchildren. They would have loved them. I miss their advice the most. They were so smart and supportive. Keep working out, it helps.
Chris I see you in my minds eye talking with Nick. Wondering what he would be doing now. How could you not. Some things never go away. And they shouldn't. Keep on walking.
Last night I worked until just past midnight. Did my pushups and then off to bed.

Shelley - I love the color of your new carpet. So pretty! It looks great to me. I'm totally into gray. My new kitchen is all about the gray :-)
Kathy - thinking of you as your grieving. I always find grieving to be such an ebb and flow process. The smallest thing can make you think of your loved one. I always like to think it's them tapping you on the shoulder just a little bit to say hello :-)
My family's doing a little bit of craving right now too in fact my husband's doing quite a lot with his Parkinson's diagnosis. As somebody who is a strong and athletic human who has always been defined by his strength, he is struggling with his current physical challenges and knowing what is going to come. In a weird way, I feel like his diagnosis is going to bring us all closer together.
We are so looking forward to this cruise in 38 days. Not sure we've needed a vacation as much as we need this one. I am a little bit concerned about myself and the food and drink. Will really need to Trying to keep it real. Since I'm such an early riser I usually do get up and work out every morning which helps.
Very busy time at work. I didn't wind up going to yoga last night. It was a substitute teacher who taught us more of an Indian version of yoga which was very different for what I've ever done. It was really great. It's difficult. Which was nice :-)
We have a pretty big ice storm outside so already predetermined that I'm working from home :-) Monday was treacherous trying to get to the office. By the time I got there I was sweating :-)
Hope everybody has a wonderful day!
