    @kurtize - 🤍 filling up with goodness.
Going to need that extra love and energy for grandkids today.

@Patti241 - how are you doing? Things getting to a new normal with your friend?

@Tabatha_Cain - Good on you, feeding and buying some good help for your move. Sounds like you've about got it handled. Great job!

We're on the road to Phoenix. Took a rest day, got to see our DGS Tucker on TV, and now we'll get there this morning. Ordered a mattress for our camper, amazing, in Phx takes one day to ship. It'll be ready for us today as we arrive. Yay!

    Have a great day, all.

    NATIONAL PLUM PUDDING DAY
Also known as Christmas pudding, National Plum Pudding Day celebrates a traditional holiday dessert. On February 12th, learn about this tasty treat with an interesting history.
    #NationalPlumPuddingDay
Plum pudding is made by steaming or boiling and the pudding is usually served during the holiday season. Interestingly, many of the recipes don't even contain any plums. One explanation given is that during the 17th century, plums were referred to as raisins or other fruits.

The name Christmas pudding is first recorded in 1858 in a novel by Anthony Trollope.
Plum pudding is usually made up of nutmeg, raisins, nuts, apples, cinnamon, and dates, along with other ingredients. In England, traditionally every person in the home holds onto the wooden spoon together to help stir the batter. While they are stirring, they also make a wish! Plum pudding has also been known to be called plum duff.
HOW TO OBSERVE NATIONAL PLUM PUDDING DAY
    Have some plum pudding!
    Make homemade plum pudding.
Invite someone to enjoy plum pudding with you.

    Plum Pudding FAQ
    Q. Why is it called plum pudding when it's more like a cake?
    A. The terms cake and pudding were once interchangeable. During the Victorian era, anything containing dried fruits was called cakes or puddings.
    Q. Is plum pudding sweet?
    A. Plum pudding can be either savory or sweet.

    Q. What is the rhyme where a boy puts his thumb in a cake and pulls out a plum?
    A. The title of the Mother Goose rhyme is called "Little Jack Horner" and it goes like this:
    Little Jack Horner
    Sat in the corner,
    Eating a Christmas Pie;
    He put in his thumb,
    And pulled out a plum,
And said, "What a good boy am I!"

Hope you all are having a great day. Had my zoom meeting, it is with friends in OR and CA. My Oregon friends were happy to hear we are coming back to Oregon. I didn't realize it was going to be so much of a ordeal to change our car insurance. If we stayed in Texas I guess no problem. I was on the phone then on computer signing docs. but finally it is all done. Not much else is new, just packing and changing address. Hugs all

@Gouldsgranite its amazing to me how many woman do not have friends all through life. Hopefully all of us have 1 or 2 we can call, etc. to just to chat. Often family becomes the only immediate contact some have, but as we age, that can also change. Living in a 55 plus I see so many are all alone. If they wish to make friends many here are open to that, we do have various activities if one wishes to join any of them. Its sad to see some in their 80s and even 90s who have no one. Maybe we each could even look at our own circle.
@Patti241 with the thought of support do you have a good support system? Of course we are a part of that!
@Kurtize, I hope your echo went well. Mine never shows the changes that other tests have. That is good because echo's can be scary when they do show things!! WOOHOO on getting ready to move!! Is it next Thurs you leave?

Today has been a slower day, butt I needed that. Yesterday I had a reclasp infusion (For my bones) I had a slight reaction with rashes, but was able to benedryl it out! PHEW!! That worked, but I've been sleeping so much since, however LOL I DO NOT MIND THAT!!

    Good Morning VIP Friends:

I hope you are all doing well this morning. Today is Friday and well yesterday was my day off and even though I got a couple more hours of sleep I still don't feel rested. I also had to wait for the Fridge to be delivered then go to the store and get a couple of things. Then come home and clean. I am now learning that I love 2 days off in a row. So that is what I will bid for first next time. Now that I got the 8:30 am to 5 pm work rotation now I will work on my day off. Yesterday I cleaned the kitchen some, did dishes by hand because we are trying to figure out how to connect the dishwasher to the plumbing as we cannot connect it like we did in the other house. We love the faucet here and it is not set up for a portable dishwasher. So we are rethinking the plumbing to make the dishwasher permanent. Just have to come up with the money for that. I am cleaned the bathroom, and cleaned out the old fridge for the new fridge also helped go through things in the office. We want to get at least one room completely set up. That has not happened yet. Although today we have officially been here a week. Wow cannot believe time has gone by so quickly.

@Patti241 - We got almost 7 inches according to our deck, but they are saying in our area we actually only got 5.6 inches. Joe says it could be some snow drifting onto our deck. I think our small area got a little more.
@gouldsgranite - Thank you. That is great that you got your mattress ordered and it will be delivered so soon.
@Kurtize - Nice that you have friends to hang out with when you get to Oregon. Sorry your insurance was such a pain to switch. That is great that you got your test before you left. Then you have the results to take with you to the new doctor. It is a lot when you are moving. So much to do in such a short amount of time.

Well I hope you all have a wonderful Friday.

    VALENTINE'S DAY
Valentine’s Day began as St. Valentine’s Day, a liturgical celebration of one or more early Christian saints named Valentinus. February 14th first became associated with romantic love during the High Middle Ages as the tradition of courtly love was then flourishing. During 18th century England, this day evolved into an occasion in which lovers expressed their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery, and sending Valentine cards.

    #ValentinesDay
    Ancient History
Mixed opinions prevail regarding who or what was celebrated in mid-February. Some point to martyred saints by the name of Valentine or Valentinus. The most popular story tells of the saint who defied a decree by Emperor Claudius II who outlawed marriage for young men because he believed single men made better soldiers. St. Valentine, preferring young lovers to be wed than have them sneaking around (or believing in the power of love), would marry them in secret. However, it may have been another Valentine who performed the marriages. Either way, at least two of them were beheaded for their actions.

Another possible origin for Valentine's Day takes us back to a pagan festival called Lupercalia. As a way to discourage participation in the fertility festival, the Christian church placed St. Valentine's Day in the middle of February.

    Modern Celebrations
Since the Renaissance, we've been exchanging Valentine's cards. These handmade missives of romance grew into a more commercial venture by the Victorian era. Today, school children exchange Valentine's greetings, too. They prepare for the day by making unique boxes to receive their many hearts, cupids, and pun-filled rhymes.

Chocolates and candy have also become a part of the celebration. While couples tend to be the focus of the day, singles celebrate being single, too. Friends take each other out or reject the overall notion of Valentine's Day. Dinner and a movie, candlelight, and flowers also fit the bill for couples. It's one of the busiest days of the year for florists.
    HOW TO OBSERVE VALENTINE'S DAY
You can surprise your special someone with flowers, chocolate or a card.

    VALENTINE'S DAY HISTORY
Credit is traditionally given to Pope Gelasius for declaring February 14th as Saint Valentine's Day around the year 496 to separate the church from the Roman celebration of Lupercalia, an ancient pagan fertility festival that occurred on February 15th.
    Valentine's FAQ
    Q. Do you have to be in a relationship to celebrate Valentine's Day?
    A. No. Anyone can celebrate Valentine's Day. Shower yourself with love and attention by pampering yourself if you are single. You can also spend the day with friends and celebrate your friendship.

    Q. Is Valentine's Day banned in some countries?
    A. Yes. In some countries, Valentine's Day is deemed to be pagan or not a part of the country's cultural identity.
    Q. Do I need to spend a lot of money on Valentine's Day?
    A. No. For many, it's the thought that goes into the celebration that says, "I love you." Some inexpensive, but thoughtful gifts, include:
    Poem or hand-made card
    Scavenger hunt
    Breakfast in bed
    A picnic
    Movie night
    Scenic drive
    Dancing in the living room

@patti241 - Good morning. 6" of snow is about what we have on ground at home. We left and missed the storm. Tee hee! Mid 70s here today.

@Dianedoessmiles1 - Agree that gal connections are important, especially as we age. My BFF is actually a former Sparker who didn't make the move to MFP. We text daily and keep each other lifted. It's a booster for my spirits for sure.

@Kurtize - Good luck with your move to Oregon. Florence was looking good when we passed through last week.

@Tabatha_Cain - Time does FLY. Hope you are enjoying all that goes with getting your new place all situated and comfy.

Well...mattress arrived, check. Got our van all cleared out. Then.....we made the bizarre decision to put er up for sale! So, amazon picking up mattress, extending car rental and taking an AZ vacay until next week.
Going with the flow and loving time with the family. 🥳

@Tabatha_Cain Yay on finally being in the house and getting it set up! It takes time; we have boxes that we never did unpack from our last move in 2012 and have no intention of keeping, so they will be added to the boxes and boxes of garage sale items we have in the shed, and, of course, boxes of the kids stuff that they never took when they all moved out. This spring is their last chance or they may just go to the garage sale! ;)

@gouldsgranite Glad to hear you made the trip to Arizona before the snowstorms! It sounded like Oregon has quite the storm the last day or two. And now you're selling the van!?! Wow!

@Kurtize you all take it nice and slow and don't be in a rush on your way there; hopefully it will be better weather during your trip up next week!

    Have a great day, all!

@Tabatha_Cain enjoy the new fridge!! New place, new fridge, nice changes! How is Chloe setting in? The meowers? You both? I used to work weird days with Tues and Thurs off. I liked that a lot, because LOL on the weekends NO upper bosses!! I was the only manager on the front end in the afternoon and closing. There was a manager over me, but he never bothered me though if I was extremely busy I'd call him up for a tiny bit, and I'd hop on the register for that little bit. It helped so much with moral. When you help your associates making sure they have a break, they respect you even more so.
@Patti241 do you have more snow today/night(Sat night into Sun?). I am glad you have your sister. I have 4 brothers with no sisters. I like it that way. Awww my GD though and the 2 boys, I am so glad she had boys. LOL LESS DRAMA!
@gouldsgranite So happy you have a good friend. EASY to see why!! You are a neat lady who is very interesting. Hope the RV sells for a price you'd like. My cousin put hers up and so far it's not sold, so like you she decided time for a VACA!!! NOTHING wrong with a VACA!!
@Ronnie_happy2ranch Having a large yard sale can be so much fun!! people are funny!! Its amazing how much STUFF through the years we accumulate!! I did give Sarah (GD) the pictures I thought she'd like, it was great to see her going through them with the oldest boy (7). LOL Watching him seeing his Mom at 7 was amusing!! I was laughing so hard. It can be hard for kids to realize their parents were also once kids. I gave her from birth on up. She was here from 11 up as she grew. From 3 and up a lot. I had many pictures. Ahhhh the days of PRINTED Pictures!! I'll have to look at the digital ones of her also. ENJOY the weekend all!
@Kurtize did you and Don do anything with the 14th? Soon you'll also be on the road!

@cruising132 - beautiful blanket. Very inspiring.

@Dianedoessmiles1 - Thanks. Feel the same of you x 10. As of today papashop is calling our return home JDawgs birthday adventure. Lol - my favorite kind of trip. Feeling very blessed to be ready for the experience!

@Ronnie_happy2ranch - Very grateful for warm weather away from storms. Thank you.

If you're anything like us, you'll be very glad to have garage sales in the rear view. I did have a successful 'reverse garage sale' toward the end. Put many of the kitchen and craft things we wanted to go, put them on our pool table and called our DD's first. Had them take anything they wanted. Then GK's by age and on to other family members until they all got something they wanted. Then we gave the rest away to local thrift store. Best "sale" we had. 😊

To be true, we had a change of heart with our van. We've decided we are still young enough to "rough it" and keep our van. One deciding factor, we are having the windshield replaced on Sunday for 1/3 of price here vs. home. The windshield somehow got much worse while it's been here. So being able to get it fixed here seems much safer. Plus our ad was taking a lot of our time answering questions, etc.taking precious time from GKs and fam. So, our adventure will ensue Tuesday. Papashop made a few repairs and we are looking forward to sharing pics along the way. Keeping mattress. We are good to go.

    Happy Valentines day!

@Dianedoessmiles1 We just watched TV and had hot dog, mini corn on cobb and potato salad for dinner.
He gave me a bag of candy hearts which he know I love and a note (he never buys cards writes his own messages), These hearts are from my heart to your heart. Isn't that sweet. Love that guy. Today I packed the computer room, I think we just have last minute stuff to do. Wednesday we will know which day the movers are coming, Thursday or Friday. Today it is cold 38 and we got rain and snow. Hope the weather gets better. My echo gram seems good from the note in my chart will double check with dr. on Monday. Other than that noting new or exciting. Just hoping I am not forgetting something I need to do with the move even though I tried to write everything done. Hugs all

    NATIONAL RED SOCK DAY
Wear your red socks on National Red Sock Day to help save a life and limb! Did you know leg health can indicate risk for heart attack, stroke, and amputation? One in five adults over the age of 60 have a condition called Peripheral Artery Disease (P.A.D.), and many don't even know they have it. National Red Sock Day on the Third Saturday in February raises awareness about P.A.D., its risk factors, and what you can do.

    #NationalRedSockDay
P.A.D. is caused by plaque build-up in the peripheral arteries, mainly the arteries in the legs. It is the most debilitating disease many people have never heard of, and yet, it is responsible for nearly 200,000 amputations annually. More than half of those amputations are preventable with early diagnosis and treatment.

    P.A.D. Symptoms
    Leg pain
    Leg cramps
    Neuropathy
    Tingling
    Numbness
    Non-healing foot ulcers
Additionally, 3 in 5 heart attack sufferers have P.A.D. This is why National Red Sock Day takes place in February, which is also American Heart Month.
    P.A.D. Risk Factors
    Diabetes
    Cardiovascular disease
    High blood pressure
    High Cholesterol
    Smoking
    Obesity
    Hereditary

HOW TO OBSERVE NATIONAL RED SOCK DAY
Wear your red socks on National Red Sock Day to help raise awareness about P.A.D. The red sock design symbolizes good circulation, keeping life and limb healthy. The blue toe and heel indicate how poor circulation in the feet can indicate risk for heart attack, stroke, and amputation. Help The Way To My Heart expand critical life and limb saving P.A.D. education, advocacy, and support by purchasing official P.A.D. Awareness Socks at www.TheWayToMyHeart.org/Red-Sock-Day
Have a conversation with your doctor about P.A.D. Make sure to report risk factors, including a history of high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, obesity, diabetes, and smoking. If you need help explaining your symptoms, The Way to My Heart offers various resources to guide you.

Another way to participate is by donating to The Way to My Heart's campaign. You can also follow The Way to My Heart on Facebook.
Also, please share the word on social media using #NationalRedSockDay to help raise awareness.
    NATIONAL RED SOCK DAY HISTORY
The Way To My Heart founded National Red Sock Day in 2022 to raise awareness about P.A.D. and how early diagnosis can make a difference. Its mission is to support P.A.D. patients, caregivers, and providers through high-touch advocacy, education, and interaction. The organization offers numerous programs to support patients, from facilitating communication between patients and medical professionals to improving access to critical life and limb-saving resources. Its efforts are dramatically reducing healthcare costs by eliminating unnecessary amputation and improving patient outcomes.
The Registrar at National Day Calendar proclaimed National Red Sock Day to be observed annually on the third Saturday in February.

@Cruising132 That came out so well!! It looks amazing!! Is it a gift for someone or a keeper? Or do you put them up for sale. An aunt of mine makes hers for sale. Her talent I surely do not have!!
@Gouldsgranite please put up some pics of your adventure with Papashop. Glad you were able to fix the windshield there at a savings!! Awwww there will be so many new stories added as the time goes along!! Be careful please.
@Kurtize, Don is adorable!! LOVE LOVE that he writes his own cards to you. SWEET as can be!!! Very soon you'll be on your way!! The time is almost here!! Are you able to sleep at all? I'd be so excited I probably not sleep.

My day has gone well. Went out to lunch with 3 friends, 2 of them I do often the 3rd one and I do about once every 10 days. Always lively when the 4 of us are together. After my GD stopped by to pick up a few items and awww look what she was in my city for. Her name is Raul. She is 8 weeks old

NATIONAL NO ONE EATS ALONE DAY
On an early Friday in February, lunchrooms across America have accepted the mission started by National No One Eats Alone Day.
    #NoOneEatsAloneDay
No One Eats Alone is a positive initiative from the nonprofit Beyond Differences aimed at creating a lunchtime of inclusion. Organized by students for students, middle schools across the nation look beyond differences and find ways to start conversations at lunchtime – with everyone. No one eats alone.

That means every student in every lunchroom across the country will be eating with someone else. Students have taken up the charge to see to it that they invite other students to join them. They are making room. Filling empty seats or filling tables that were once occupied by only one student. They're starting conversations, closing the divide, and sitting with others. And they're getting to know people across the table. No matter their differences, no matter what, no one eats alone.
HOW TO OBSERVE NO ONE EATS ALONE DAY
Join the movement. If your school doesn't participate, encourage them to start.
Create an inclusive lunchroom at your school and encourage each other to engage in positive conversations.
Try these ice breakers: Start with a joke. Offer a compliment. Find something in common. Ask for an opinion about an assignment. Mention a movie you saw this weekend. Tell a funny story about yourself. Talk about the menu - especially your favorite foods.
Bring a card game to play.
Educators, visit the National Day Calendar® Classroom for lessons and ideas.
Find out more at No One Eats Alone and use #NoOneEatsAloneDay to share on social media.
NO ONE EATS ALONE DAY HISTORY
National No One Eats Alone Day was piloted in 2012 by Beyond Differences in just a handful of schools in Northern California. Now, more than 2,000 schools in all 50 states participate in National No One Eats Alone Day, impacting more than 1 million students.
    No One Eats Alone FAQ

NATIONAL RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS DAY
Each year on February 17th, National Random Acts of Kindness Day grows in popularity. It is celebrated by individuals, groups, and organizations nationwide to encourage acts of kindness.
    #RandomActsOfKindnessDay
The movement of Random Acts of Kindness inspires people every day. As a favorite celebration for many, people everywhere are enjoying doing these acts of kindness. Not only do the acts of kindness bring joy to the receiver, but they spread positive reactions to the giver, too!

"I was a recipient of the kindness but more glad to be a contributor!" (Unknown)
Our research found that the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation celebrates Random Acts of Kindness Week. The Random Acts of Kindness Foundation is an internationally recognized non-profit organization founded upon the powerful belief in kindness and dedicated to providing resources and tools that encourage acts of kindness.
In New Zealand, where this day originated, Random Acts of Kindness Day is celebrated on September 1st. However, it is also recognized by some on other days throughout the year. Nevertheless, doing random acts of kindness is something that can be done every day of the year.

    A Few Quotes of Kindness:
"Kindness is a language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see." (Mark Twain)
"No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted." (Aesop)
"Remember there’s no such thing as a small act of kindness. Every act creates a ripple with no logical end." (Scott Adams)
"Kind words and actions can seem so small, but their effects are truly endless." (Author Unknown)
HOW TO OBSERVE RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS DAY
Pay for the coffee or meal of the person in front of you in line.
Leave a kind note for someone, no explanation is needed.
Share words of encouragement. You never know who might need them.
Put your skills to work for someone in need. For example, offer to create a résumé for someone seeking a new job.
Drop off a load of groceries at the local food pantry.
Mail a "thinking of you" card to someone you've not to talk to in a while.
Order a bouquet of flowers to be delivered to anyone in the hospital. That means, call the florist and tell them to pick a hospital or nursing home and deliver flowers to the person the front desk thinks needs it the most. It could be a sick child, an elderly person with no family, or a college student down on their luck.
Send a thank-you note to the local fire department, police departments, or any military personnel.
    Just smile.
Share your random acts of kindness using #RandomActsOfKindnessDay to post on social media.
