ICE BREAKER QUESTION: What is your favorite way to spend the weekend?

That depends, this is hard to answer. I guess my favorite thing is to hang out with my kids and the grands.

@trooworld I am in love with your fur babes, especially the pittie....

Hi 👋, I'm feel good, I've already eaten my veggies and one of my orchids has a bloom. 😀🫠🌸. I went to Costco yesterday and they had pre-planted bulb pots. So, I bought one, I can't put it outside yet though, we are still having some very low temps over night here.

I don't know what my plan is, but I'm sure there's one in there some where.

Oh, and I made a really pretty omelet for breakfast today 😃

Test Test I’m testing to see if the update different using a phone instead of a pc. So far I’m not seeing much of a difference. Now to tag someone, @Katmary71 . Worked, I never could do the other fancy stuff like italics, bold letters or line through. Time for coffee!

@micaroo4, I’m sorry your sleep experiment is so hard for you. I was staring at the ceiling at 3 a.m., wide awake, and finally got up and took another Relaxium, which helped enough to give me another 3 hours. Hang in there, and for your sake, I hope your doctor is right about his plan. 😴

@trooworld You should look up some office chair exercises! You can also do five squats every time you go to the bathroom. But your commute is brutal, so you just have to do what you can. My niece is loving her house! They have been very busy painting and hanging things this week. We are waiting for my contractor friend to come build a wall in the garage so they can turn it into a room for her dad. She is dying to get her baby out of her room so he will stay asleep and let her have some time alone. Those doggies are so sweet!  😍

@DrewsAnna I love Orchids! I used to have a nice collection but they got totally infested with gnats and had to go! That omelet is pretty and looks very tasty!  😋

Good morning and happy Daylights Savings Time! Those government people say they will do something every year, and they NEVER do!! I don’t care if the country is split. Pick a time and go with it!!😡 OK, rant over. We had a good day yesterday. Two of our dear church friends came over for lunch and changed our air conditioner filter in the attic. We, of course, spent most of the time talking about church stuff. He is our head deacon, and she is the head of finance, so we have many thoughts on what our new pastor is attempting with this revitalization program. We agreed to be cheerleaders and take a wait-and-see approach. We watched the latest season opener of 911, and it was intense! I don’t know how you horror-loving people handle the stress. 😬 Have a good day!

ICE BREAKER QUESTION: What is your favorite way to spend the weekend?

I want to be as lazy as possible, but Saturdays are usually spent deep-cleaning, and Sundays are spent at church. However, I do manage to find some lazy puzzle time most weekends. 🙂

    Hey Slims
It's great seeing that everyone is doing so well. Happy belated birthday @TeresaW2024 🎉

Things here have not been going all that great. Unfortunately I have fallen off my wagon again. I did see my Dr. Feb. 28 and just got the approval yesterday for Wegovy from my insurance. Now I am waiting on the pharmacy to fill it. Hopefully it won't be much longer. I was hoping to start it on a Sunday but now I am just wanting to start it as soon as I get it.

@bethanie0825 That's an awesome drop, glad your doctor is happy too you're doing great!

@TeresaW2024 I dislike changing thetime too! Waiting and seeing is always a good choice when change isgoing on.

ICE BREAKER QUESTION: What is your favorite way to spend the weekend?

I loved going to the farm on Saturdays followed by the farmer's market. Lots of garden time and garden events with friends and some time to read too. This weekend I spent yesterday getting stuff for a garden bed then the volunteers from the farm I'm taking mushroom classes with came over followed by going to the community garden and hanging out with a friend then my Mom's birthday with today building the bed and making some more seed starting plans (my new LED lights I'm replacing the old florescent ones with finall came).

@trooworld I'm so happy your knee's being doing so well! I hope you enjoy your walk alone, I'm sorry your friend had to cancel.

@txcritter69 I hope you'll be able to start Wegovy soon, hugs to you I'm sorry things haven't been too well.

@AnAbsoluteDiva You're my kinda friend with your weekend plans! Beautiful flowers!

GO MISSION SLIMPOSSIBLES IN FIRSTPLACE, WOOT WOOT! High Five to our top winners

    @Cornanda @bobboyardee @bethanie0825

I'm going to have to try going back to Word to reply on here, the document I'm using is taking longer to edit after copying and pasting than actually responding to everyone!

We had a great volunteer appreciation dinner Friday night with the farm, food bank, and other programs run by this group. I won a gift card to Home Depot so I was there at 7 yesterday getting the bed building pavers and redwood slats to go with it. Needless to say wood is crazy expensive but I love my new bed, I spent today getting it partially filled. My Mom's birthday last night was fun though once again my brother and I shopped for my Mom at different stores and bought the exact same card (we did this two years ago too and my card was second and NOT signed by her cute grandchildren so it was a little annoying!). My Mom was pulling a gift card I DID NOT put in the greeting card which was freaking me out until I realized it was the same card but NOT from me! I flared up my back doing a stupid butt challenge, I was a few days behind when I started so I caught up those three days and some stupid muscle in my hip that goes to the back is wonky. Tomorrow's finally the dentist appt to get my flipper tooth, I'm meeting some friends for lunch after so it's going to be a bit busy. My new seed lights are here so that's tomorrow's project when I get home. Have a great Monday friends.

Wahooooo Slimpossibles for making it 1st place!! 🤩🤩

@trooworld That is awesome that you got so many steps in without any knee pain! Just shows what a little weight loss will do, huh? 😉

@txcritter69 Thank you! Sorry you are struggling, but you can get back on the wagon again simply by jumping back on. I hope the Wegovy works. If I had real insurance, I sure would be tempted to give these weight loss drugs a try myself. 😃

@Katmary71 I use a Google Doc to do my replies. I would use Word but it decided to stop working on my computer last year, and I can’t fix it. 😡 That is awesome that you won a Home Depot gift card and could get your new bed going. Yikes on getting the same card for your mom and having it opened last. I hope your back gets better.

@trooworld Yay for getting "Ode to a Black Cat" into the April show and selling a painting to your sister-in-law! I still have clocks that need to be changed. The good news is that my oven time is finally right for the next 6 months. 😂

Good morning! My sister’s car wouldn’t start this morning, so she had to take my car to work, which is annoying because my oil life is down to 5%, and I’m supposed to change it tomorrow. She will pick up her husband from her daughter’s house and bring him over to see if it’s the battery. I don't want both cars to need money dumped in them, but it is what it is. 🙄In other news, it’s a rainy Monday, and I will do a workout and some church work. I will eat light today in hopes of a loss for tomorrow! I really need to buckle down a little more than I have been. Have a good day!

@AnAbsoluteDiva – I love to buy frozen blueberries for my smoothies. Cheaper than fresh and so convenient! I love brown rice. I cook it with my vegan chicken broth powder, but you could sub any flavor broth. I don’t bother soaking, but I do rinse the rice. I use a 1:1 ratio and cook it in my Instant Pot for 20 minutes and do 5 minutes of natural release. Perfect chewy texture.

@TeresaW2024 – Thank you for not taking my concern the wrong way. Is it difficult to have such a long stretch between the shake and dinner? I get hungry about every 3 to 4 hours, so I’d get too distracted with my hunger thoughts. I am so glad you are also having good devotional time, too. Enjoy those blueberries! Just have to add that I just read we both called Chris’ commute “brutal” LOLs. I don’t know why that amuses me. I detest DST. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to change the clock in my car. I have an installed system. I can’t figure out how to do in the vehicle itself, nor on the sync app. I should have written down how I did it last year! UGH!

@trooworld – Yeah your weekday schedule is brutal with that commute. I wouldn’t bother telling the doctor, either. OMGoodness Millie sounds like such a sweetheart. How sad that her owner died. Camper looks so sad, too. Bless you for giving them your time. So happy to read that you’re not having knee pain with all the walking! Your “Ode to a Black Cat” is adorable – as well as the one for your SIL. I’m so glad you were able to get connected for the show. Fresh spring rolls sound delicious - gonna add those ingredients to my grocery list!

    @DrewsAnna – What a beautiful orchid bloom!

@txcritter69 – Hugs. Hang in there.

@Katmary71 – Congrats on winning the gift card – I love that you were at Home Depot bright and early the very next morning. I can’t wait to see your raised bed once all the green starts popping up. That’s hilarious that your brother and you got the same cards twice! Great minds think alike? I’ll bet it gave your mom a chuckle 😊

I am still going strong with my Daniel Fast foods and the scale showed it this morning! Made me so happy to be down 5.4 pounds! We (my mother, Hunter and I) went to see Mickey 17 last night. I had purchased the refillable popcorn bucket back in December, but instead of getting it filled, I used the air popper at home and snuck that in with my bottle of hot sauce. Totally delicious and satisfying! I’m taking my mom to see Heart Eyes this evening. I’ve already watched it twice, but I love it – perfect slasher film in every way! If I sneak in a snack, I’m thinking Vlassic Snack Umms and/or carrot sticks. I really am feeling so much better mentally and physically. My therapist is gonna be so happy for me when I see him today 😊 I’ve eaten up about half my vaqueros, so I don’t need to make any more beans yet, but I’ve almost depleted my brown rice. Should my next grain be bulgur, barley or millet? Help me decide!

ICE BREAKER QUESTION: What is your favorite way to spend the weekend?
I love a good, balanced weekend. Spending some time with my children, grandchildren and mother, but also having some quiet time to myself to craft, journal, or think about whatever comes to mind while talking out loud to Kismet (that helps me work through things).

    Hi 👋

I have a sick grand babe today. He's running a bit of a fever and has a nasty cough and stuffy nose.

I'm almost done with my SIL blanket and today is her blanket. I feel like a terrible SiL because I didn't get it done in time. Oh well, I'll get it to her.

I'm going to give all my plants some fertilizer today, and spray a lot of lysol, lol... I don't need to be sick.

@vegan4lyfe2012 Thanks for the info. I don't have an instant pot (don't even know what that is) and we use the "clean tea towel over the pot with a tight lid and don't you dare touch it" method to absorb that steam. I also rinse brown rice (all rice except arborio) cuz that starchy stuff can really gum up the works. I'll look into a hot pot or instant pot and if I can use it for more than just making rice, I'll consider it. I've gotten to the point in my life where if a gadget can't do a bunch of stuff, I don't get it. With the exception of the lemon and lime press. That's a must have!

@trooworld Ha it’s more that I start a ton of plants than being great at growing but thank you! Yay I’m so glad you’ll be able to enter your painting in the show I love it! Black cats seem to always be a bit quirky I think you captured the personality of the ones I’ve interacted with. Oh no that stinks about losing the time I really wish we’d stop with changing the time.

@TeresaW2024 Oh no I’ve had problems like that with Office 365 and the free versions of software my Dad gets where they wouldn’t work on a laptop, it’s so frustrating. I hope you’re able to figure out the car issue.

@vegan4lyfe2012 Thank you! I think the card issue is my Mom isn’t a mushy person and doesn’t take much interest in us which rules out 90% of the cards. You had an awesome weigh-in wtg! Love you taking your own popcorn to the movies! I haven’t heard of either of those movies sounds like good ones. I love barley though I grew up eating a lot of bulgur being Armenian. I vote barley for the chewiness!

@DrewsAnna Oh no hope the grandchild is feeling better! Happy birthday to your SIL, I’m sure she’ll love it whenever you can give it to her don’t feel bad! She’s going to understand. Sounds like the goal of the day is keeping you all plus the plants healthy!

@AnAbsoluteDiva Oh my goodness definitely look into an Instant Pot or a Ninja Foodi, they’re awesome! I’m using my InstantPot for the mushroom steps to sterilize and cook grain but normally I make a lot of soups and chilis, beans, shredded chicken, plus herbal teas in it. Hard-boiled eggs peel super easy and you can even make cheesecakes and yogurt in them. The starchiness can also been an issue with the electric pressure cookers where you tend to let them depressurize before opening to avoid any starches blowing out.

Hi team! I’m trying Word this time but I know the names won’t actually tag people unless I retype them like I did last night. Had a busy day I had an x-ray at the dentist then went to the store and brought everything home then met two friends at a new all-you-can-eat buffet and I’m super stuffed. I feel gross I almost went to bed when I got home but felt bad for not checking in here. We went to Sam’s Club too and I got a few things. Put some time in repotting tomato plants and have more to do tomorrow. I’m taking Barbara O;Neal classes at a church the next five days which is at night and kind of far and tomorrow’s the only afternoon I have free so need to get my seedlings in bigger pots and reorganized. I made a little stink with the HOA and am going to deal with that next so gotta get moving! Have a great Tuesday.

@vegan4lyfe2012 Congrats on your loss this week!! The Daniel Fast is paying off for you! I am usually starving by 11 a.m., and my protein shake has lots of protein powder, unsweetened coconut milk, Keifer, and frozen berries. I sometimes eat a small amount of nuts with my shake, which does help keep me full until around 3 or 4 pm. Learning the difference between a glucose drop and real hunger is key to not eating between meals. If I get that hungry feeling, I have a cup of plain green tea or coffee. Any commute, in my opinion, is brutal! 😄 Good girl for sneaking in your healthy snack to the movie! I cannot help you decide which because I’ve never had any of those three listed.  😂

@Katmary71 Buffets always make me super stuffed, too! I have been following Baraba O’Neill on TikTok, and she is awesome—but also scary!! There is so much we shouldn’t be eating, drinking, using, or wearing that it can be overwhelming. These health gurus can make you feel like you must live in a bubble. Just not a plastic bubble because that would be bad! 😂

@trooworld It was a good call not to try to walk in new ballet flats. You would have gotten a blister, for sure. Allulose can hurt my stomach, too. I do much better with Monk Fruit and Stevia.  🙂

Good morning! My brother-in-law came over and put a new battery in my sister’s car, which was expensive but not what it would have been without him. I dropped my car off last evening for its oil change, and my bestie will take me to pick it up today. Then, I need to run to the church to hunt down a receipt for the pastor. Do I really need to retype the names of who I'm replying to? That seems like a hassle when we can scroll down each post and see if our name appears. Someone tell me why that's not a good enough plan.😁

Question: What past fitness or health goal have you achieved that you’re most proud of?I was very proud when I lost 80 lbs and felt strong from lifting weights. I’m working to get that feeling back!

What’s a past fitness or health goal you achieved that you’re most proud of? I am very proud of reaching my goal weight. I am also proud of my "Walk The Year" goal of walking the year in miles (several years). But I am probably most proud of a multi-day trip bicycling up through the White Mountains of NH & ME. I stayed overnight at B&Bs, nothing planned in advance, and only 1 change of clothes. Money for food and quarters for the laundromat.

@AnAbsoluteDiva – An instant pot is an electric pressure cooker. I use it all the time – I’m able to cook my dry beans, unsoaked, in less than an hour. I use it for soups, stews, steaming taters and other veggies, cooking grains, making risotto that you don’t have to stir, you name it! It has many functions. You can also use it as a slow cooker, but I haven’t tried that yet cuz I like my 30 year old crock pot. I don’t understand why you use a towel to absorb the steam when cooking rice. You want the rice to absorb it. Maybe that’s the problem?

@Katmary71 – I’m sorry about your mom. My sister is the same way. It really can be hard finding the right sentiment for some people in our lives. I’d say Mickey 17 is good for one watch. It’s worth it once, but not a repeat like Heart Eyes. That one just cracks me up. The gore is so over the top, it’s hilarious! I adore barley and it’s perfect warmed up or as a cold salad. Have fun with the HOA.

@trooworld – I find already after just 6 days that the thought of sweetener doesn’t sit right for me. I had a bit too much pineapple last night for my night time snack and even those natural sugars wouldn’t play nice. I think we learned our lessons yesterday!

@TeresaW2024 – Sounds like a good plan to have the tea or coffee between your meals. I tend to have a dessert style or floral tisane at night, just before bed, when I’m wanting a snack. I’m flabbergasted that you’ve never had barley or bulgur! I can understand millet. Maaaybe barley. But bulgur? You’ve never had tabbouli? You totally need that in your life 😊

@micaroo4 – What an awesome thing to do! A bicycling trip like that must have felt exhilarating! So adventurous!

I am happy to report that the next time I started my car and linked up the Bluetooth, my clock reset to the correct time. Yay! I cut up a baggie of carrots to take to the movie last night. Snuck that in with my water bottle…and didn’t eat a single one! I was still fully satisfied from my dinner. I’m actually listening to my stomach cues. 51 years old. About dang time! I don’t have any plans with anyone after work today, so I’m gonna get into the craft room. I’m behind on several cards. I’m in a swap group where you send 6 cards to the same 6 people by the 6 th of the month for a total of 6 months. It’s called The 6th Swap LOLs. Anyway, I’m 5 days behind on getting my March cards sent out. Shame on me! I need to make my bestie a Birthday card and new house congrats. I’ve got some other projects to work on, too. We’ll see how much I can get done tonight. I would say that crafting helps keep me from snacking, but I haven’t actually wanted to snack lately 😊

I have one vote for barley and one for bulgur, so instead of a week’s worth of one, I’ll do both with half the amount each.

What’s a past fitness or health goal you achieved that you’re most proud of?
I was really proud of myself when I lost 60 pounds before and was able to scale the Lake Michigan dunes. I am determined to lose this weight again (for the last time!) and scale those dunes again…with maybe a few little sets of feet joining me 😊

Be sure to drink your water today!

What’s a past fitness or health goal you achieved that you’re most proud of?

In my mid 40's, I was into zumba, kickboxing, a little jogging and strength training. I was always involved in fitness challenges and different food challenges. My house was always clean and my gardens were pristine. I was physically and mentally fit, I looked good and felt great. I got up around 4:30 am with hubby... now he's retired and I can't find that girl that I was talking about up there....

@vegan4lyfe2012 I now understand why people rave about instant pots. I had no idea what it is. I am so old school - still soak my beans overnight - but the clean tea towel to absorb the steam is something my mom and my grandma and her grandma have done. It's a big thing in the Caribbean and it leaves that rice so insanely fluffy and perfect. I did cook that brown rice by soaking it the night before. It was perfect - no chewiness, no half cooked pieces, it was perfect. The chicken broth and the soak I think made all the difference. I'm going to look into the instant pot and see if how big it is (storage) and if I'm really going to use it. I don't have a slow cooker either; I just braise everything in a Dutch oven for hours and layer in the savory vegetables as the protein cooks. Thanks so much for writing back!!

I finished 27 marathons in 27 states; 23 to go but doubt I'll do it. Turned to bodybuilding and prefer that 100% over running.
