@trooworld - I hope Friday wasn't too long for you and that it finally stopped raining there. Now it's the weekend so you can hydrate and rest. Take heart! You've lost over 40 pounds in 3 months and it's still coming off. You are doing great! Remember that on the hard days.

@19shmoo69- your name will just NOT come up in the tag box. I get the lottery ticket, but don't you want to buy any coffee?

@DrewsAnna - hooray for no procrastination days! Take a rest and then you will be recharged to get going again. And hooray for great food choices too!

Mayo Clinic is going well for me. I am eating a lot of fruits and veggies and limiting protein and dairy. The first few days I was hungry, but not anymore. I feel their tracking tools are easy to use. I am having a bit of a hard time planning my food vs family dinner without making two meals. My family is on board to eat with me, but there are a lot of veggies they do not like, so that is the challenge. I am finding ways to make it work. The recipes are tasty, but they are a bit repetitive, so I am working in some of my own stuff now.

Things to buy: DH and I have been cleaning out the garage in order to set up a gym. We purchased a bike and a Bow-flex off FB marketplace. This weekend we will be working on cleaning the floor and starting to set things up. Next thing we will need is a portable air conditioner and some music. I'm looking forward to getting the dumb bells and weight bench out of our bedroom.

Things have been a bit stressy with my Dad lately. He is my Mom's caregiver- she has Alzheimer's. They live in another state. I'm very concerned about some things that have happened and that he isn't doing more to keep her safe. He doesn't want to place her in memory care yet. We had a family meeting with some caregiver support people and discussed safety measures he should implement right away, but he's still dragging his feet. I've been putting a lot of pressure on him, and we haven't been talking as much- but I feel it's important and stuff he needs to hear, so I will press on.

Monday is the first day of my "new job". We are moving to a different department. We are told our jobs won't change much. Overall, I feel it will be a positive change. I'm sure I will be meeting new people and learning new things, but that is how growth happens.

    Have a nice weekend!

@Cornanda, I’m glad the Mayo Clinic diet is going well for you. Cooking two meals would be a pain, so I feel you are trying to juggle your diet and satisfy the family. A home gym is fantastic! I love having my workout room! 💪Ugh, I am sorry that you are having to have hard talks with your dad. My heart breaks for people who are older and have to be caregivers to their spouses. I hope you can get him to care for what he must do to keep your mom safe. Good luck with the new department. I'm sure all those new people will love you! 🙂

@trooworld Congrats on your loss this week! Losing steadily like you are doing is the right way, as you know, but of course, we all want it to be faster! Ugh, I am sorry that you have to face LA traffic, and I hope it’s lighter than usual today. I have eaten two of the Paleo Super Bars, and they are good! The chocolate chip was super tasty, and the apple cinnamon was good. I will order the lemon meringue and see how I like it. They have a lot of fiber, so if you get some, be prepared. 🤣

Good morning! I finally got out and cleaned my screed-in porch, which I hadn’t touched since last fall. I’m giving my niece all my flower pots and an antique plant stand. I love having plants on the porch, but the water brings the lizards, which creates an insane Maggie Mae. She saw one yesterday outside the screen of our dining room window and lost her mind. I had to put her in time-out and close the blinds. 😂 Today is just the usual Saturday stuff, including a workout and refilling our pill containers. Have a good day!

ICE BREAKER QUESTION: What do you want to buy?

All the Things!!! 😎Just kidding! I want to find an Easter shirt that matches the gorgeous earrings my bestie gave me for my birthday. I’ve been on the hunt and will find it!

Now that I weigh myself daily, it's so clear to me where the pitfalls are. I had three events this week that involved food and cocktails. I knew where they were being held ahead of time and I had a pretty good idea of what food would be served. At two events, I was able to manage by sticking with the meat and seafood hors d'oeuvres and stayed away from the crackers and puff pastries. The third event the food was going to be a nightmare for me so I made myself an omelette with Canadian bacon and vegetables before I went. HOWEVER, the cocktails were another story.

My calories were close to where they needed to be give or take 50 to 100 calories so I wasn't worried about that. Even with the alcohol, my calories were fine. The morning after the event, I weighed myself and saw I gained .9 pounds EACH TIME. I know it wasn't the food or the calories which only left the dehydration. I drink 64 ounces of water a day and I did so on these days but I didn't account for the dehydrating effects the alcohol would have. I needed to double my water intake. I don't think I would have been able to figure this out without weighing myself daily.

Using my spreadsheet, using my RMR as my TDEE, and not eating back my exercise calories gave me great results the first week of March. I don't know that I'll be able to flush all this water out by Monday but I won't panic if I don't.

Just sharing this in case some of you get frustrated when weight creeps up and you can't explain it. Alcohol is nasty to the body but I told myself I was not going to deprive myself of socializing with friends and family. I think I just have to not socialize with alcohol, too. Cucumber water is beyond delicious and I can bring my own if necessary.

@vegan4lyfe2012 My daughter-in-law has an Instant Pot. I'm going over next week to "use" it (meaning I'm making dinner… ha ha). I'll decide then if I want my own! Thank you for turning me on to it.

@TeresaW2024 I no longer run. Crazy but when I was doing all those marathons, I couldn't get the weight off. I ate back every mile, every time, and I felt like crap. I traded in the sneakers for wrist wraps and never looked back. My father got sick and passed away a few years ago and my mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and lived with me the past five years while my dad was living. I was flying home to Chicago from the east coast every other weekend to take care of my dad and then when CoViD happened, I brought my mom to live with me. She pitched a fit but we got through it. She passed last summer. I've been living with this since 2008 and it was the least I could do for that man and that woman who gave me everything a parent could give a child. Now that they're gone, I've taken back my life and intend to honor them both by being the best me I can be.

I am powerful. I did it before and I will do it again.

@DrewsAnna I've been following you on this forum and I can relate. I went through this a few years ago. I thought it was because life got so hectic and I mentioned it to my doctor. I was unmotivated. My family thought I was lazy or depressed or both. Some days it took everything I had to just get out of bed and unload the dishwasher. My doctor ordered bloodwork and a hydroxy (?) test. It's what they use to measure Vitamin D levels. Range should be between 30-100 and I was at 9. He got me to take 25,000IU a day for one week and then I went to regular 3,000IU after that. My numbers are now in the 50 to 60 range and I feel I can take on the world. Try to get a test. I can't remember if it's called a hydroxy test but your doctor will know. Insurance covers it. Give yourself three weeks on Vitamin D3 and see what happens. I hope you feel me hugging you.

    Hi 👋

Yesterday was a nice, kind of, relaxing day. I went and did some shopping. At Costco, I started feeling light headed, kind of like I was going to pass out. So, I had 1/2 a chicken and a few sips of rootbeer. I started feeling and went home. I got everything put away and just relaxed and crocheted for the rest of the day. That passing out feeling was weird and different. Maybe, I just went to long without eating.

I am soccer gramma today, so maybe, later on I'll get that workout done.

@AnAbsoluteDiva That sounds just like me, I really didn't think anyone understood because I barely understand it myself. I do take D3, but only 2,000IU. Maybe, I'll up my dose a little and see if that helps.

Quick hop to say that the devil is working overtime on me. Ever since the Bulgur Debacle, I have felt completely defeated. I had made some Rancho Gordo Alubia Blancas in the instant pot, and totally overcooked them into a mush as well. Last evening, Oliver and I picked up my mother…along with a Starbucks Refresher and Taco Bell burritos. We went to the beach to watch the sunset. That was even a failure because we had hit 75° and the water was still so cold, it was foggy and you couldn't even see the sun. The one plus is that Oliver sat in sand. It was pretty funny. He wouldn't touch it.

Today I decided I was going to turn the overcooked beans into a dip. That didn't even turn out right LOL. It was as runny as salad dressing. But something came over me and I decided that I was going to just make it into actual dressing. I added a bunch of different things like sun-dried tomatoes and spices. When it was all finished in the food processor, it actually thickened up enough to be a dip again 😂 So I had some of that with some carrots and celery. I'm going to get my dishes cleaned up and make my deconstructed poblanos to have for dinner.

I'm hoping that all of these fresh foods will get me out of my funk. Later, my peeps ☺️

@DrewsAnna If you use sunscreen, it blocks Vitamin D. If you wear long sleeves or hats outdoors, it blocks Vitamin D. Google symptoms of Vitamin D deficiency and see if you're hitting a lot of those. And, please, if you can, get the test. It's just part of your normal bloodwork; doctor will just instruct lab to test for the deficiency. Upping the dose will help; keep me/us posted.

@AnAbsoluteDiva @DrewsAnna I agree on the Vitamin D, if you could get half hour in the sun then cover up after that you get 20,000IUs according to the speaker I just saw this last week. For me I plummet in winter from not being outside and haveto supplement, I responded pretty fast to it too and I hadn't been able to get out of bed. Definitely worth trying a bit more.

@vegan4lyfe2012 @vegan4lyfe2012 Oh no I'm sorry to hear about the cooking issues. The dip DOES sound amazing! Great thinking on how to redo it, I hope it helps you too.

@AnAbsoluteDiva @AnAbsoluteDiva Drinking is frustrating as the calories are always pretty high. Very eye-opening on the difference a drink makes on weigh ins. I love your attitude on being the best you. You were in incredible shape I think you'll get there again!

@TeresaW2024 @TeresaW2024 LOL I'm imagining MaggieMae with the lizards run by, I always know when my cats spot a lizard as their bodies go rigid and tail starts twitching!

@trooworld @trooworld LA traffic is awful wishing you luck today! I hope your buy comes to you, you deserve anart/craft room!

@Cornanda @Cornanda Congratulations on the home gym! I just figured out the reason names don't come up all the time is if you snap the screen it's often hiding where you can't see. GladI found it but for logging weigh ins and copying names to remind people it's easiest to snap the two screens so it's frustrating and doubling the time it takes to do weigh-in stuff. I'm glad Mayo Clinicis going well for you and that you're not still hungry, seems once you get back on track the starving feeling calms down a bit. It IS hard to make two meals, I'm glad you're finding ways to make it work.I'm so sorry about things with your Dad it's hard to get through to parents sometimes but it sounds like you're doing the right thing. Definitely not as serious as your situation but my family's kind of depending on me to get through to my Dad being ridiculous about using a walker before he falls again, he'd just told a story of how sad it was that the husband of a couple (friends of theirs) was in a nursing home because his wife can't move him and I pointed out that would happen to him if his next fall breaks a hip (feel bad but if you blew his way he'd fall). Sending love and strength your way. Good luck on Monday I hope it goes well but know it's always anxiety-provoking to start something new.

    @19shmoo69 @19shmoo69 @19shmoo69 @19shmoo69 I love you surrounded by your closest friends!

ICE BREAKER QUESTION What do you want to buy? For my cats it's a catio, for home it's garden beds and a fence to keep the deer out. I just discovered the reason my tomatoes are all dying is from fungal gnats because I can't get to the floor to check on my plants so a better seed set-up I can physically check on. I do need a new car too and would LOVE a temporary tooth I feel real self-conscious without my eyetooth right now.

Hi team! Finally caught up. Barbara O'Neill classes went well this week I missed one. It stormed every night which means I was 9-10 pain levels and driving more than a few miles is real hard. I'm VERY worn out and aside of my workout and the greenhouse this morning I've been laying in bed most the day. I've done lousy on diet lately, what @AnAbsoluteDiva was saying is so true I stopped and bought trail mix one night for class and the salt on the nuts made me swell up so bad I couldn't get my rings off an hour later and had to run to the bathroom to soap up my finger to get them off (I'm claustrophobic and was trying not to scream in class, lol!). It didn't taste that salty but must have been. I haven't been able to stay on track since my back surgery I'm frustrated with myself. Have a great Sunday friends.

@Katmary71 Water retention is a nasty little thing. One gallon of water weighs eight pounds. Consuming more salt than you need will make your body retain close to two quarts of fluid (four pounds). A night of heavy drinking will retain up to a full gallon. Your finger were telling the story and I'm with you…. my brain goes into panic mode if I don't calm myself down when I can't get rings or sports bras off!

@trooworld - how was your trip to LA? After you pick her up, do you have to take her home?

@TeresaW2024 - congrats on getting the porch cleaned. There is still pollen floating around here- I can't wait til that ends. Gus likes to "hunt" lizards- he knows where they hide, and does rounds to check all the spots. He's never caught one, but the chase is fun. He doesn't bark, so I don't mind. How is Maggie's leg doing? I hope you find an Easter shirt. You will make IT look beautiful!

@AnAbsoluteDiva - that is some great analyzing you are doing and what a WOW picture!

@DrewsAnna - that sounds like a scary feeling. How was the soccer game? did you finish the afghan you were working on?

@vegan4lyfe2012 - that is a lot of food problems. I'm glad you were able to turn the beans into something. I am wishing you some awesome food and beautiful nature days this week.

@Katmary71 - I don't know what snap screens are. 😥 I will say that I do not look at my notifications, I just look for my name in posts, so if that helps make the weigh in posts faster for you- great. I appreciate the time you give to this group. The situation with your Dad IS serious. Falls can be very serious. The frustrating part is that you can say all you want, but it's his decision. And you can't prevent people from making bad decisions. I've tried to accept that, but it's hard at times. Sending you a hug about that and about getting back on track.

Thanks to all for the work encouragement. I'm ready to go tomorrow!

@AnAbsoluteDiva Alcohol will always stall my weight loss or give me a gain. It’s good that you recognize and aren’t upset by the scale number but understand how to make the number go back down. Thank you for sharing that you also have experience with Alzheimer’s. Being a caregiver is very hard, and I love that you are honoring your parents by living your best life. I’m determined to do that as well when I lose my precious husband. And wow, what a powerful photo! You are a rockstar!!  😎

@Katmary71 Ugh, I'm sorry you're in pain. I hope the weather improves so you can feel better. 😘

@Cornanda Maggie’s leg is doing fine now. I’m not sure what she did to make her hike it up that day, but she hasn’t since. Hopefully, it will stay down! I’m still looking for that shirt!   🙂

Good morning! We were hit with the storms at 2:00 a.m., and Maggie demanded to get in bed with us. Fortunately, the worst storms bypassed us, which I’m so thankful for. Watching the tornado damage is heartbreaking. 😥So, I’m thinking of doing calorie counting for a couple of weeks and seeing what is going on with the scale not moving. I suspect that my dinners need to be trimmed down. If I have to count the calories, it will ensure that I limit my ingredients because I HATE counting. 😂Have a good day!

I need clarification, folks. I signed up for a 5% thingamajig (can't remember the name…. no disrespect intended) and that group has a spring cleaning challenge. I saw the same challenge on this thread. Which thread do I respond to? Is this group I'm in now a subgroup of 5%? I'd like to accept the challenge but do I have to do the tasks in order? They're counterintuitive to how I spring clean. I like to gut a room top to bottom including window screens and door frames but don't want to tip the apple cart or take credit for not doing it right.

Thanks for helping me understand this.

@TeresaW2024 I'm so sorry you're going through this with your husband. I hope you have help; my mom was a Size 6 so it was easy for me to carry her to bed when her legs didn't want to cooperate. There's a lot of physical work involved and little sleep or rest or time to leave the house. We become so laser-focused on the task at hand that a lot of things have to take a backseat or simply go by the wayside. My heart is with you.

@trooworld Your avatar is great. ;-) Come on over! I'll load up the barbell and get the music going. But seriously, even body weight is a big thing. When I have to step on that demonic stair stepper every morning and find my quads just can't take another step, I get off and do 20 deep squats with no weight slowly and give the glutes a workout. I'm still sweating like a beast and heart rate is still up there so it counts towards cardio. Push-ups against a wall is weight training. The we push and pull doesn't have to be metal. We carry enough weight to get the job done.

@Cornanda I have yet to see a spreadsheet, pie chart, bar graph, or Excel formula I didn't love. Ha ha ha

@jellytree I just reported that you weighed in late in the Captain's Thread so they can remove the "No Weigh In" by your name on the spreadsheet and logged your new weigh in for last week. It means you're not qualifying for anything for the last week but you're up-to-date and won't be dropped.

@micaroo4 I’m with you an infared sauna AND a catio!

@Cornanda A snapped screen is when you have half the screen one window and half the other. Right now I have half my screen a Word document and half Mission Slimposssibles group so as I scroll through the posts I can reply in the document. I’m guessing you do something similar? Woohoo glad to hear your fighting spirit! Thanks for the hug!

@trooworld I’m thinking you and Cornanda know what it is from how you describe posting, it’s when half the screen is one window and half is a different window, I snap the spreadsheet and our group at first then close the spreadsheet and open a Word document to reply side-by-side. I actually just learned how to do this a few years ago when I was taking computer classes if you don’t know how to let me know and I’ll explain, it’s great when you need more than one window open. I’ll do the bolding too, I’m fine tagging for the Weigh In post but this one takes a long time plus it’s still putting 10 lines in between each comment. Hugs back! You have a lot to do today good luck with the crowds, guessing the next storm is going through there too? It’s crazy how exhausting sitting in traffic can be, I’m glad you found a great coffee shop to hang out at.

@TeresaW2024 Thank you! Aw sweet Maggie. Oh no I haven’t seen the damage yet I just turned on the news (just seeing it at the end of this, so sad to hear how many people passed away and the damage looks awful). We haven’t done a group challenge for awhile maybe it’s time for a logging challenge? I’ve been awful at logging lately.

GO MISSION SLIMPOSSIBLES in 3rd PLACE, rockin it! @vegan4lyfe2012 @AnAbsoluteDiva @Cornanda way to go top winners! And 45% in the green is awesome!

@AnAbsoluteDiva Are you referring to the March Week 3 Group Challenge- Spring Cleaning Challenge? If so it’s an all-group challenge where you post in that thread. If you’re referring to the 5% group (it IS a different group) @micaroo4 @micaroo4 and @19shmoo69 @19shmoo69 know more about it than I so I’ll defer to her. For the Fat2Fit challenge you can do it in whatever order you want and make it your own. Oh I think you’re talking about BOTH the Fat2Fit challenge and the 5% group.

@sleepygirl79 The doctor’s office weigh-ins are always tough especially in winter I think my boots alone are 5lbs!

Hi team! I got the main stuff done I needed to, cleaned out most the garage as my roommate is going to move her stuff into the garage until she moves at the end of May. She’s not doing it until the 31st but started saying how she was going to rearrange my stuff when I was leaving for Sacramento for class and I kinda bit her head off not to touch my stuff. I ran most of it to the shed but had been waiting for the storms to stop so my feet would hopefully unclench and make it easier to walk. I also caught up on work and got an HOA letter in the mail and vacuumed. Ate real heathy today, I decided to skip a workout since I’m flared up but will do some light stretching, take a bath, then go to bed early. Have a great Monday!

    Logging challenge anyone?

@AnAbsoluteDiva Thank you! I’m in my fourth year as his caregiver, and you are right about how focused we have become on keeping them safe and well cared for. My prayer is that I can keep him home until the end. The unknowns of what we are heading into are stressful, but I can only take it one step at a time. 😕

@Katmary71 I’m always done with a good challenge, and since logging isn’t a thing I do, I need a reminder. It was 9 pm last night when I realized I hadn’t logged my dinner, but I was under my goal, which made me happy! 🙂 Is your roommate moving out of your place in May? Good job with healthy eating.

@trooworld Yeah, if she isn’t in our bed, she is running around barking her head off, but she settles right down the moment she is in our bed. Of course, if she had her way, she would always sleep in our bed, but that isn’t happening. Meatloaf and asparagus sound wonderful!   🙂

Good morning! Joe has a wellness check appointment with his primary care physician today, and we are taking the garden stuff to my niece. I also need to wash my car and run to Aldi. I will do a rebounder workout this morning since I don’t want water retention from lifting today. I am hoping for a loss tomorrow and to continue my green streak. 🙂
