We had Collin this morning for some fun. Pat had to p/u Ronan early today because he wasn't feeling well. He said his tummy hurt. Pat took him home. The house is so quiet right now…

Just finished making soup. It poured today! The wind is crazy! It makes the rain go sideways, so no walking for me! Going to read and finish my coffee. Maybe walking to the post office on Thursday…maybe.

    Good job, Kathy!!

We had Collin this morning then I had my trainer for a 60 min workout at noon then we had Ronan for video games w/Grandpa and homework.

Today was cool and beautiful! Slight breeze. I hope tomorrow is the same and I can walk to the post office after Collin is picked up. Got my fingers crossed.

Kathy I love group workouts. Very motivating. You enjoy.

Paula I had a wash last month also. Exercise was ok. But nutrition was off.

Chris I hope Ronan feels better soon. I love watching the rain. So peaceful at times.

Today was a rest day. But I did clean all the filters in the new tank. Finally getting the nutrients up. There is green growing in it finally. Hopefully this is the beginning of the end of those nasty dinoflagellates. I would rather deal with green algae. Tomorrow I am heading to the gym. 19 work days left. Getting excited. It snowed today some. We are expecting a cold snap this weekend. If we do my peach trees will lose their buds. Grrr!

    night all

My SIL discovered a lung condition early this year, and it may or may not become serious. The prednisone treatment is making her swollen, so she had to remove her rings. She bought a fake wedding band just to have "something." It was sad.

Then a couple weeks ago, they found shadows on my brother (her DH) lungs. They're going to biopsy it to see if serious. Their daughters are young teenagers. Can't imagine how scary that is.

My MIL had big fingers and Derek gave me all her rings, but they only fit my thumbs. So I offered one that looks like a wedding ring to SIL …and it fit! Made her happy. Made me happy. Little happinesses in the middle of life's whallops.

Paula I pray everything is ok. very scary for them all.

Hopefully we hear from Karen soon.

My zumba class last night had burpees! And they were fast. I think I did my best burpees ever. Walked with hubby and my dogs today. Watched my god son play basketball. He is 3! It was fun.

Only did 45 mins on my recumbent Saturday. Sunday will be a rest day. Surprisingly Ron with dinner. Cooking my version of a healthy chicken veggie stir fry.

Shelley, So proud of you and your burpees.

    Dear Shelley Burpee Super Goddess,

I have only one response, "Ugh, burpees! No way no way no way no way no no no no no!!"

Y'know that ad "Help! I've fallen and I can't get up!" I thought it was because the person was injured but learned from experience* that old legs simply aren't strong enough to lift folks from the ground. So now I've got an excuse! 😂

    But seriously, you're amazing. 😎

    Wimpish Paula

*I had dropped into a squat on my deck and could not - for anything - get back up again, even pulling on the railings with my arms. I had to crabwalk to the top of the stairs and use them like a chair to stand up from. I've lost weight and can get up now (tested it) but it's still hard.

  • cpanus
    cpanus Posts: 20,317 Member

Paula, I hope everyone is okay. And I would do the same thing to get up off the deck except I would be on my bottom cuz I can't do low squats without a TRX😅.

    Kathy, how did dinner go?

    Burpees, Shelley?? REALLY??

Okay, my news is not good…I tripped again. Shattered my sunglasses, Cut my forehead with the sharp pieces. Broke my little finger. I have the best black eye ever and stitches everywhere. Concussion and brain bleed that has gotten much better. Road in the EMT truck and it was the worst ride ever! I felt every rock and tiny hole in the street. Everyone at Kaiser was wonderful. I go back for a CT scan to check on the bleeding. It should be cleared up. My right hand is in half a cast…little finger and ring finger. It was so weird.. they put a wet cloth around the fingers and down past my wrist and then it became hard like the old casts…so strange! I did this on Thursday at the end of my 5 miles…I was just across the street from our house and hit a rise in the sidewalk…ugh! Our neighbors next door rushed over and helped me. They kept me on the ground and covered the wound until the EMT got there. Pat had just gotten home with Ronan and came over when he saw it was me on the ground. Ronan was a bit upset to see Grandma down.

I am home now and feeling much better. It's hard when your dominant hand has a cast on half of it. Shower, potty, brushing your teeth, typing, texting, carrying heavy stuff, just everything!!

Well, I'll keep you updated on my brain.

The kids are coming over for dinner now.

    Later, my friends.

OMG! I hope they have you on all kinds of nice drugs till the pain subsides! And that your brain is okay and the blood is back where it belongs. And that you heal quickly. And man, wiping with a non-dominant hand is the WORST! 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏

Oh no Chris. I’m so sorry. Please heal fast and take care of yourself. No, let everyone take care of you for a change.

Monday: 10 minute stretch, 20 minute full body strength training and 15 minutes on the elliptical.

    Take care Chris.

Chris OMG girlfriend. I am very concerned for the bleed. So glad it is getting better. Hmmm, you need one of them toilets that spray water. I can't spell it. You should contact the homeowner and get their insurance information. It might cover your care. It would here I know. You get well.

Paula you also. That had to be scary. And you should have been a writer. I could actually see you struggling to get up. Amazing.

Kathy you avoid sidewalks and decks. Bad for ones health.

Work was absolutely boring compared to what you are all doing. Rocky has juryuty tomorrow. We bought a cherry tree. I love fresh fruit.

Shelley, they put me on different meds and told me to come back for another CT scan the 17th. Go in about my finger tomorrow. Video appt w/primary care doc Thursday, stitches out Saturday. I hope to get back to my trainer Monday…hope… she brought us food Sunday! The best mashed potatoes ever!

My sweet husband is taking great care of me! and helping me w/everything.

Our housekeeper came today and was so sweet. Offered to do anything I needed!

    That's it for now.

    Later my friends,

The best ever mashed potatoes ever made me laugh. Sounds like you have everything under control. Glad you are on the mend.

Work went quickly today. Then leg day. It was a great workout. But brutal. Hope I can walk tomorrow.

Got a new purple cast today. will be in it until the 30th…ugh! Blood work all came back normal. We'll see what my doc says if I can go back to my trainer soon. Or I'll get on the recumbent bike.

Pat is making soup. He's washing dishes and feeding me and WOW!!! He's taking good care of me! Think I'll keep him!!

Tuesday I had appointments so it turned into a rest day. Wednesday: 10 minute full body stretch. 20 minute upper body dumbbell workout and 20 minutes on Treadmill. I’m loving the workouts at my friend’s basement gym because we have a lot of variety. I’m hoping this will get the scale moving downward again.

Paula you’re killing it. Chris my choice for a cast would also be purple. So happy your blood work came back normal. Pat is doing an awesome job taking care of you. Somehow I believe you will be a fast healer.

Chris I echo what Kathy said. Pat is being awesome. And purple is a bright and cheerful color.

Paula nice loss. Keep at it.

Kathy working out with friends can be so rewarding. They challenge us. Keep at it.

Today was a busy day. And my legs were killing me from Tuesdays leg day. Today was upper body. We hold a 15 pound kettlebell and walk across the room. Hold your arm at shoulders height straight in front of you. Now bend your arm at the elbow up to point at the ceiling. That is the position for your arm. Then add a kettlebell with the bell facing the ceiling. Great for wrist strength.

Thursday: 10 minute stretch, 20 minute lower body and 20 minute indoor walking. The video was from YouTube “Get fit with Rick”. I’m in love. Great workout and the best music. Shelley a lot of dance. I think you would love it.

Kathy I will try it. I love good music. Music needs a catchy tune. Thanks for the idea. I need to stretch more again.

Chris happy for you. I know you have to be going nuts inside for so long.

Our new baby cherry tree is here. Not working out today. Sore again from last night.

Friday: started with s stretch, upper body strength then another Get fit with Rick cardio. Got in 4 days and will probably use recumbent on Saturday and Sunday will be a rest day.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. Sending prayers and positivity to Karen and her family.

Chris yeah to getting stitches out and happy walking Monday.

Shelly let me know what you think about Rick. By the way he’s in Dubai so the background is usually very nice.

    Kathy,

Did you tell Shelley that Get Fit Rick has a 15 minute Easy Zumba Dance workout? That was the first thing that popped into my browser. I love his encouragement to work to our own abilities - makes it feel achievable for me. I'm going to try this for my Hogwarts challenge next week. (I'm doing Chris's choices this week.) Thanks!

    Chris,

My Hogwarts Vow was to do 15 minutes of strength or cardio workouts five times a week. I've been doing dumbbells and TRX, but cardio is hard cuz of my knees. But today I checked out the Happy HITT you listed for us and LOVED it!

Mind you, I'm still not capable of doing that version yet, easy as it is, so I had to modify it. Imagine that girl sitting in a chair, waving her arms and kicking her feet, and you get the idea. But, hey, it got me panting; and that's a WIN!

Thank you everyone for help and support. <3
