<sneaking in> Hi everyone! Sorry I totally disappeared there for a bit. I think I’d like to join the team again for June. Like Yinka (Hey, welcome back!!!!) I can’t do this on my own either. I’m at an all time high and need to fix this before it goes any higher.
New news - My Fitbit died. I’m never buying another again. It’s junk. I’ve been through four in six years, but I must admit I definitely miss the data and feedback. So I don’t know what to do about it. I also have a new little granddaughter. She’s a little peanut. Mostly sleeps, eats, cries but there are starting to be occasional smiles…or gas 🤷🏻♀️.
Good to read up on everyone’s news.3 -
@micki48 welcome back!! Please just let me know your starting weight for June and remind me your weigh-in date! That's crazy about the fit bit that keeps dying. I got a garmin this year and love it! Do you use your phone at all to track your steps?

oh and @Kali225 would you like to stay on the step team? Feel free to while you are on support!

Hello. New member for June challenge. I’m hoping this challenge will keep me motivated to live a healthier lifestyle. I have been recently given a diabetes diagnosis which should be motivation enough. I’ve chosen to hold off on taking metformin which doctor recommends. I have 3 months before getting lab rechecked.
I retired in January and have too much time to eat, which is usually junk food. I’m addicted to soda (again) and carbs.
I’m at my highest weight and I believe 20# of fat has accumulated around my waist. I need this challenge WaistAways! My starting weight will be on Sunday June 1st. I want to be at goal weight of 150# with a stronger more defined core at end of summer.

@Kali225 Love hearing about your shopping day.
@micki48 Enjoy the cuddles of your grandbaby.
@energyseeker Welcome to the group
I had a super busy weekend getting so much done around the house and had a great workout today. Not a reflection on the scale but I'm bouncing around all over.

Hi everyone, I'm Jackie (jguldi11) and I'm excited to rejoin Waist Aways! I was a member back in 2020, but put my weightloss goals on hold due to becoming pregnant. I now have 2 beautiful children, a 3 (almost 4) year old son and a 1 year old daughter, with my husband of 13 years.
I have a lot of weight to lose (ideally at least 75 lbs) and I'm looking forward to the support and encouragement from this group! I've been tracking my calories again for the last week, and I'm trying to be physically active at least 120 minutes each week. I'm a mental health counselor, and recently started offering Walk & Talk therapy to some of my clients to help get me moving, and demonstrate for them the mental health benefits of physical activity.
I'm so excited to get to know all of you, and for us to be on our health journey together!

From small failures come small victories… I hope.
I'm really flat today. Just tired and bitter, and angry, and sad and overwhelmed and just… flat. And I wanted a muffin, and I wanted a specific muffin and they only come in 4 packs. And I bought a 4 pack knowing full well I was going to binge all 4 and feel horrible. And I ate one as soon as I got in the car, and it was… meh. Really meh. I don't know if the recipe changed or my tastes did, but either way, I feel yucky after eating it and I didn't even enjoy it. And in days gone by, I'd have eaten the other 3 because they were there, and in spite of not enjoying them and even though I feel yuck and would feel sicker.
But not this time. I didn't enjoy them, so I'm not going to eat them. They're either for the bin, or I'll drop them at my parents' house on the way past. But even if they go to waste, they're not going to waist.

@Alatariel75 that is a huge NSV, not eating the other 3 muffins! I have been in that place before and would have eaten all of them, and maybe even in 1 day.
Welcome @jguldi11 and @energyseeker!
@energyseeker I am glad you asked for 3 months to see what you can change before starting medication. Did they give you information on diet and nutrition to help you?
@jguldi11 your kids are at a great age to help keep you active. Soon you might be running in opposite directions 😂

@lauren_989 I know what I should and should not be eating but have made poor choices despite my knowledge. I worked in long term care as RN for 40+ years and needed to educate others.
I definitely need to get more active as well. It will help my anxiety and low mood at the present.
First thing to do today—-get out of bed!!
my energy level is so low right now.
By the end of June I will be energized, and in happier spirits because I will be fueling my body with what it needs to function at its best !!!4 -

@energyseeker knowing what to eat and actually doing it are 2 different things! I'm a nurse as well and know exactly what you mean!

Hi guys, I had a great long weekend, I was off for 5 whole days. We got our kitchen cabinets delivered on Friday, and they are just beautiful and no real issues with the delivery, I am asking for 2 doors and 1 drawer front to be replaced, but luckily that will not stop any work while waiting for them. Saturday, I went to an in person yoga class and it was wonderful, then on Monday, I did a 5 mile hike, then had a nice leisurely lunch waterside on an absolutely beautiful day with my sons and grand doggy! It was so nice to get out of the house and relax, I felt bad my husband wouldn't join us, but it was his choice, I even tried to get him to just meet us for lunch.
Kitchen is coming along nicely, Only 2 cabinets left to set, electricians are scheduled on Friday, appliances get delivered Saturday, and countertop templating will be the following week. So we are just moving along nicely. Aside from small punch out list stuff we should be done mid June.
Have a wonderful day !

Happy with that, I've still got a bit of DOMs and my fingers are a bit puffy, but it's going in the right direction again!

Still missing a bunch of weigh-in's this week and for tomorrow:

I had a good day today. Went to body pump class and got to walk before class. I did overeat yesterday (although it was my birthday and calories don't count on that day!). The cake is almost gone and leftovers are gone as well, so back to normal eating tomorrow! NSV, I had 2 people tell me today it looked like I was losing weight 😄
@Gidgitgoescrzy it sounds like you had a lovely long weekend with great activity! I'm also glad you are not running into too many issues in your kitchen remodel. It will be done before you know it!

Thanks for the welcome back. I post a starting weight tomorrow. I think I will have my weigh in day be Friday.

@energyseeker ugh diabetes is tough, a good motivator to make positive changes though! I had gestational diabetes 2x and it was a lot of work figuring out what my body could and couldn't tolerate.
@lauren_989 Happy belated birthday! Calories definitely don't count on your birthday 😉
It's been a little over a week since I started tracking calories again and I've been within range every day except yesterday. I was feeling a little down and snacky, so I had a chocolate protein muffin that put me over a bit. I'm not too bothered by that thankfully. Progress, not perfection :)
Emotional eating is something I will always have to be mindful of, some days are easier than others. I did dance around with the kids for a little while so that helped burn off some of those extra calories!
I have a balanced dinner in the crockpot already and if the weather cooperates I should be able to get 1 or 2 walking sessions in today. I did not get the best sleep, which has been a trigger for overeating in the past, so I'm trying to be proactive and planning out my meals for the day.
I hope everyone has a great day!

I am happy with that. I am so tired of not having a kitchen and not being able to make and prep real food. I think I am going to pop over to the brother in laws house this weekend, and make some meals I can eat during the week using a real kitchen.

I've been MIA for a little bit. Not intentionally. All the stuff with my husband - he admitted some fault, said he understands that I likely will not trust him for a very long time, and started going to therapy (after multiple requests from me). I bought and started using a safe and have been trying to talk through things with him more. All of this is progress. My new second job bar tending has been fun, but tiring. And, to make it more tiring, I likely have a tear in my meniscus that I got almost two weeks ago. I had my first check at the walk-in clinic yesterday, and will hopefully have an MRI on it at the beginning of next week.
@lauren_989 - can I move my weigh-in to tomorrow? I did weigh myself last week, but forgot to post it. It was the same as the previous week. This week, I remembered to post, but forgot to weigh. So, tomorrow. I plan to weigh myself and post it tomorrow.
@Alatariel75 - I knew you recently lost your husband, but I guess I didn't know the whole backstory to it. I'm so sorry you had to go through that! I will likely message you soon to chat because it seems like we could both use it. Also, it's so badass that you did that race! Cheers to you for finishing it!
@ashleycarole86 / @lauren_989 - because of the knee injury, I am going to take myself off of the step challenge for a while. Not that I remembered to post my steps this last month 🤐

@Alatariel75 - fantastic job realizing your emotions would not be tied with food - this is something I've been battling this week but have been eating all the chocolate. I'll take some advice from you and just move on because it's not going to help.
@jguldi11 Excited to get to know you and welcome. Love the idea of walk and talk - so good for your mental health.
energyseeker Fellow RN here - As a care giver I totally agree knowing what to do and doing the right thing is not easy nor the same.
Gidgitgoescrzy So good to hear the reno's are close to being done. Can't wait to hear what you will cook once it's done.
@lauren_989 Happy Birthday !!
MaddawgMadsen Great job focusing on yourself and what you need.
It's been a week of emotional eating. Not sure I can really put my finger on the reason but feel like it's because I was rejected for a job I interviewed for. To be honest it wouldn't have been a good fit at this time but the feeling of rejection is leading me to eat. Detaching my worth with my job is something I'm struggling with, feel like I need to work through these feelings.
