First, huge congratulations to the slims for a fabulous May!! A special shout out to @txcritter69, @trooworld & @Katmary71 for leading the way!
@alimalli86 welcome! I must say Whales looks absolutely beautiful, thank you so much for sharing the pictures!! A new place to add to my bucket list😊. My puppy is a border collie cross, do they ever settle down?🤣
@trooworld puppers are still doing great, Ty is settling down a tad bit :-). They are both still as sassy as ever and giving me a run for my money. How are Daisy and Violet doing? About two weeks ago I switched to a new medication and that seems to have made a huge difference. Honestly for about nine months I was just mentally and physically so lethargic, not realizing because it happened overtime. I thought it was just me🥴. I am feeling better and have just started back at the gym, it feels good to get moving again.
I read back a little ways and it sounds like you are doing so much better physically! Last time I was here you were still struggling just walking, now you're at the gym?! Good on you!! I like your workout, many of those exercises are what I did last week :-). That is a beautiful picture of you.
I love your new mottos!
Do you by any chance have a good recipe for hummus?
@Katmary71 that is very exciting that you are going to be fostering kittens! You are going to have a very busy house lol. Please post pictures when you get them! Not to worry, you will be seeing pictures of my puppers coming up lol. Oh my goodness that little puppy is so cute!! I can see why you would want to bring at home with you. We train with some Australian shepherds, they are crazy🤣
@TeresaW2024 I have missed you as well! It sounds like you have been really busy with Joe, you are in such a challenging phase right now. My cousin has dementia and when talking to her daughters I know it is so hard, dementia is just a cruel disease. I am so sorry that you are going through this and I understand totally when you say eating your emotions, big hugs to you. ♥️
@DrewsAnna I agree with you, being able to hang out with your adult children is an amazing gift!
I have had a great day, got the dogs out for about a 45 minute walk this morning, then did a spin class at the gym. This is only my second spin class back so it's kind of kicking my butt lol. I have been taking my dogs out to a field most days for a good run, try to burn off some of this puppy energy so we did that just before lunch. I have tracked my food so far today, still getting back into the habit of doing that :-). I was on a medication that was making me super lethargic, so it is nice to be able to do things after lunch and carry on with my day. I will be going to watch my grandson play soccer this evening. I have been feeling bad, I haven't been to any of their practises or games until yesterday, I just had no get up and go later in the day.
I decided to check in here after lunch, as you can see Ty is not impressed with this new thing that I am doing, all attention should be on her🤣

my apologies @trooworld i didn’t understand that there were two separate areas to tap in. Usually there’s separate post saying here’s the next month’s thread. Which is why I didn’t see it attached to the closed post.

WEIGH IN UPDATE
WEIGH INS DUE TODAY FROM @vegan4lyfe2012
Reminder To Weigh In Tomorrow to @FushiaKat @TeresaW20240 -
@DrewsAnna I just saw that about your feral cats are they outdoor cats? I’m glad you had a good time with your kids. I hope the Wegovy increase helps you with the food noise. The weather there sounds lovely we’re around 90s all week. Congratulations on cutting those toenails!
@trooworld I love caramel corn too I probably should have picked a trail mix but I always eat too much of that as well. Have you had Werthers Caramel popcorn? Good stuff! I’ve had some good ones from World Market too (we need to find a lower calorie way!). Is Jefit free? Have a wonderful time with your friend! Interesting about snacking I’d be fascinated to know what’s triggering it, you could write down how you’re feeling each time you want a snack and see what comes up the most at the end of the week. I love your two mottos those are great ones!
@TeresaW2024 Hugs to you. Does Joe get a lot out of going to church? I think the connections with others would be great for both of you though I know it’s not easy. Would someone be willing to stay with Joe so you can go or would you not want to do that? Definitely pray on it I hope the right answer comes to you.
@baodell17724 I’m so glad you got off the rower! I didn’t know there were taller rowers but have been Googling. When I first started turning my health around I used a recumbent exercise bike which is tough to use now. It would be awesome to have a rower that high!
@laurelfit57 I’m so glad the medication change went well! It’s hard sometimes to tell if something is due to a medication or a change with us, I’m so glad you’re feeling better. I’ll definitely be posting kitten pics! LOL love the look Ty is giving you!
Hi team! I got up early as Asher was venting (he does this every time I take him to the vet or rescue group for nail trims). I got in a good workout then showered and headed to the farm to get the credit card to go buy popcorn for our mushroom growing. I stopped at a different grocery store on the way back for a few things then when I got to the farm I started trimming cucumber plants while taking and a couple hours went by. One of the other volunteers growing mushrooms had an emergency so I brought her mushroom stuff home to take care of. I made
for dinner with a salad and it’s really good. Spent after dinner in my garden and at the community garden planting some seeds. Have a great Tuesday!2 -

@TeresaW2024 Thanks! Yes, I was sore yesterday and I am even more sore today lol. Every time I squat, my quads cry! LOL Halfway through the year! I can't believe it. You are going through a lot of stress so give yourself some grace (but don't let yourself off the hook lol). Can you attend church virtually and maybe go in once a month, if you feel like you need to go in person? Sorry about the gain this week. Hang in there.
@baodell17724 That's too bad there isn't a locking mechanism. Oh no! LOL Sorry for laughing but your cleaning lady comment was too funny! Well, it's good you tried something new. Now you know what not to do! :)
@bobboyardee You are rocking it! Way to go.
@DrewsAnna That's a great NSV!
@laurelfit57 Oh that's great that Ty is settling down a bit. Not too much, hopefully! LOL Vannie and Ty still sassy, am I surprised? NO. lol Daisy and Violet are well. They haven't gotten in a "real fight" in a while, fingers crossed/knock on wood. It's really hard to function when you are so lethargic. I am glad the new medication is helping. Yes, I was struggling walking, using a cane etc. BUT...since my gastric bypass surgery, I haven't had to use the cane once! I also got a cortisone shot in Feb which helped a lot. Lately, my knee has been starting to bother me again so I got another cortisone shot on Friday. Hopefully, it will help. Yes, now I joined a gym (last Friday) and will start working out. It's very much a sweaty/stinky dude's gym with bare-bones equipment which is fine for me. It has no free classes but if I wanted to pay, I could do boxing or bootcamp. It reminds me of a gym I used to be a member of many years ago. Oh, I'm glad you liked my workout! I liked it, too and feel it today lol. Thank you! Good job with the puppers and the gym! And yay for tracking. I've been tracking in Cronometer, which I like very much. I hope you enjoyed the soccer. OMG the Ty picture is too much! LOL Yes, I do have a favorite hummus recipe: this is my favorite recipe for hummus...you may have to tailor the amount of tahini and/or lemon to your taste:
@19shmoo69 No worries, I didn't understand it either and the same thing happened to me when I first clicked on it.
@Katmary71 I can't have caramel corn anymore (and that's probably a good thing!) but I have made homemade caramel corn and it is soooo good! I have never had the Werthers. Is it sugar-free by chance? Jefit has a free option and a paid option. I use the free option. Thank you, I did have fun! I think the snacking is being triggered by: boredom, sometimes stress, the need to reward myself for working lol. I find that if I drink enough water, it's not a problem. Enough water = 72 oz or more. That's a good idea to write it down. Thank you! That recipe looks really good. How's Asher today?
@Cornanda I am reading "The Emperor of Gladness" by Ocean Vuong, it's excellent! Cute pic of Gus!
Hi all. I showed my friend around work and she really enjoyed it (so did I!). I spent 1 1/2 hours with her so it was a nice time. On the way home from work, I called a friend that I haven't talked to in a while. She lives in Washington State now. We talked about working out and she said women over 40 should be taking creatine, it's good for your brain and muscles. She sent me a link to a study and some videos and since we have creatine (my husband takes it), I thought why not? I will take it. My husband warned me that I may gain a pound or two at first from taking it.
Tracked yesterday? Yes

@trooworld Now that you know that work is your snacking problem, you must think of creative ways to avoid the snacks. You can challenge yourself so that when you are at work, you don’t snack. Maybe keep a healthy snack in your car, and if you succeed at not snacking at work, you can reward yourself with a snack on the drive home. My snacking issues are in the afternoon and I’ve realized that I do much better if I don’t have an afternoon coffee, which always seems to trigger me wanting a little something extra. Your mottos are great! 😀
@baodell17724 Ohhh my goodness! Your story was funny but also super scary. I’m glad you got your foot out so that you didn’t have to traumatize your poor cleaning lady! 🙃
Good morning! I'm not happy with my weight gain this week, but at least it's down from where it was after Joe came home from the hospital. I intend to do better this week. We will see if I can do it.🫤 Today, Joe has a doctor’s appointment, and I need to run to Aldi. Have a good day!1 -
@TeresaW2024 Yes! I think drinking enough water helps the most. That's a good idea to reward myself on the way home! Thank you!

DISCUSSION QUESTION: What do you say to yourself when motivation is low? Do you have a mantra or mental trick that helps?

This came across today's news feed… it's a good reminder to bookmark…

DISCUSSION QUESTION: What do you say to yourself when motivation is low? Do you have a mantra or mental trick that helps? Interesting question! I personally don't rely on motivation. I plan. I have a schedule. If it's workout time, I workout. I sometimes have to tell myself "Just start." Sometimes the hardest part of the workout is the 5 minutes before I start, when I have to talk myself into it. If I just start my warmup, I'll probably keep going.
Now if it's about food, that's a whole different set of mental calisthenics. I remind myself that I have a hard time stopping once I start indulging. So I remind myself "It's not worth it."

DISCUSSION QUESTION: What do you say to yourself when motivation is low? Do you have a mantra or mental trick that helps?
Motivation to exercise is easier: Using the "small habits" philosophy, I just tell myself I just have to do 5 minutes on my exercise bike… once I'm on the darn thing with the water bottle next to me, I'll easily do more than 5 minutes, usually at least a half-hour to a full hour!
Motivation to not overeat is harder to control: All food in my house is healthy (little to no processed foods). Still, you will gain weight from larger portions of even "healthy" food. Making sure your food is in individual-portioned packets is important. I have a blow-up of the picture I took of myself at my heaviest: 286.2 lbs (June 1st, 2024) on my fridge door and next to my computer monitor! LOL😜

I'm super far behind and hopefully I'll get caught up on all the reading tomorrow…I'm set to get my cataract surgery today. Say a quick prayer for me!

Yesterday, I walked around a football twice. Chipper and I both enjoyed. The day before (Sunday), I used the resistance bands. Last night my body was so super that I went to bed at 9:15, lol… it wasn't even dark yet.
Here's a few more flower pictures

CW: 136.8Not much going on in my life, still waiting on HJM to give me a good refund number so we can return the Trike, I took pictures of everything and made a webpage, and I printed out all of the pictures for them to keep, I want them to sign for the Trike. They are trying to keep 1500 for a defective Trike and I don't want them to have that money. They make me feel like it's my fault the Trike stopped working. I am prepared to take them to small claims court. I hope it won't come to that, but I'm have a low tolerance level for their greed.

@FushiaKat - Good for you! I look forward to hearing HJM has accepted responsibility for the bad product.
@DrewsAnna - What gorgeous pictures! Everything looks shockingly green and lush to this central Texan.
@vegan4lyfe2012 - How are you doing this week? Any plans?
@TeresaW2024 - How great that you know that afternoon coffee is a trigger! You have me thinking about my triggers. Hmm. Your gain for the week was quite small. Keep doing what you can to take care of you.
@trooworld - Your hummus recipe looks a lot like mine, before I make adjustments. I go light on the tahini and heavier on the garlic. I also like making hummus with other beans. Here's a navy bean hummus I like: I need to try beet hummus, too.
@Cornanda - Gus is super cute! I am currently reading two books: The Dead Cat Tail Assassins by P. Djeli Clark (action/adventure/fantasy, sometimes funny), and Tourist Season by Carl Hiassen (mystery set in Florida, satirical and colorful).
@Katmary71 - Congratulations on your great week! Also — you use popcorn for mushroom growing?
@laurelfit57 - Your picture of the skeptical TY is classic. What a face! Congratulations on your great day! And a big wow to the spin class.
@bobboyardee - Congratulations in the big loss! I loved your speech! So inspiring!

WEIGH IN UPDATE
Reminder To Weigh In Tomorrow To @lislisa1230 -
@Cornanda I’m reading Robin Cook’s Bellevue, think I read it right after my back surgery and am getting déjà vu. Prior to that was Frieda McFadden The Crash. What are you reading? Aw I haven’t seen Gus in ages he’s so big now and adorable!
@trooworld Oh no I’m sorry you’re so sore! @laurelfit57 I can vouch for Chris’s hummus recipe it’s a good one. I didn’t know you were tracking on Cronometer I used to log there too. Asher kept me up all night last night and was more annoying than the night before. I closed my door to keep him in my room so he wouldn’t wake up Renee but she said she never heard him. @TeresaW2024 takes creatine too I remember us talking about it about a year ago.
@TeresaW2024 I think you’re going to have a GREAT week! I hope Joe’s appointment goes well.
WHAT DO YOU SAY TO YOURSELF WHEN MOTIVATION IS LOW? DO YOU HAVE A MANTRA OR MENTAL TRICK THAT HELPS? Around the time I joined MFP there was a popular workout meme that said something along the lines of how the time will pass anyway do you want to be proud in a month or disappointed in yourself? Also if I’m waffling on food I’ll think of how I’m going to feel in the morning. For workouts I’m pretty close to needing a wheelchair and know if I stop doing it I won’t get the chance to restart again.
@micaroo4 Love your answer to the question!
@baodell17724 The 5 minute trick is a good one I used to do 10 minutes on the stair master or the exercise bike being my goal then I tended to stay on longer.
@vegan4lyfe2012 Prayers your surgery goes well!
@DrewsAnna Your garden is so beautiful! I love your roses!
@FushiaKat Oh shoot I hope the trike company reimburses you how frustrating!
@AustinRuadhain I love black bean hummus I’ll need to try the navy bean hummus! Yes we use popcorn for mushroom growing, you cook it, sterilize it, then add the liquid mycelium strain to it to grow in. Later when it’s spread to most of the grain it goes in a bag with wood and soy pellets.
Hi team! I had an early appointment to go over my DEXA scan, I have osteopenia and not osteoporosis. My roommate and I went to the Asian grocer then stopped at Trader Joe’s and came back home and I cleaned the garage. I went to the community garden for a bit to water my nasturtiums followed by Home Depot to get my Dad some succulents for our father’s day celebration this weekend. My tee shirt for the CRPS awareness walk came too. Tomorrow I have a bunch of early appointments but should have the afternoon to myself so I’m hoping to do a lot of cleaning in the yard. Have a great Wednesday!

@katmary71 those enchiladas look absolutely delicious, I am going to have to try them! They are so lucky to have you at the farm, you are always so busy there!
@Cornanda I have thought of you as well! Your Gus is just the cutest little button!
@Trooworld that's awesome that Daisy and Violet haven't gotten in a real fight for a while! Sometimes I have to give Vannie a very stern warning as she will still be bossy boots🥴. That's so great that you have not had to use your cane, sounds like things are really looking up!! I went to a sweaty stinky dude's gym for about three years, I always laughed, because these guys with these huge biceps were always looking at themselves in the mirror flexing🤣. Even the ladies change rooms were super stinky😷. When I did that work out last week, I was so out of shape, I actually had to do my stretches in my hot soaker tub with Epson salts🤣. This week is better, I just did a barbell class, I know I am going to feel it tomorrow but it won't be as bad. What is Cronometer? Thanks for sharing the recipe, I have been trying to pack veggies and hummus if I am going to be away from the house for a long time. I love the hummus at the farmers market but it is so expensive!! it sounds like you are really enjoying life. That is very interesting about the creatine.
Shorter check-in today, it is just about 8 PM and I am dragging. I am going to try to check in here earlier in the day, today was just a busy day. I did a power barbell class, I am keeping my weights very light for right now, just doing the squats and deadlifts is challenging. I did some work in my yard, took the dogs for two good walks and then I had both of my dogs in an agility class. Typically I'm not the biggest fan of running them both in one class, it wears me right out, but it is a lot of fun. My eating was on point today, I tracked everything and I met my protein goal for the day. That's it for me, now it is PJ time :-). Hope everybody had a great day!!

Here's my rower (yes it's expensive, but I'll be finished off paying off my 12 monthly installments ($134 each) in October. It's really solidly built, heavy, and commercial-gym quality (definitely something that future generations will be able to use!) Everyone that I talked to about this rower had high praise for it!

@baodell17724 Good tips, thanks for posting!
@vegan4lyfe2012 I hope your surgery went well. I didn't realize you were getting that done. Big hugs!
@FushiaKat I don't blame you for taking them to court if need be, $1500 is a ridiculous amount to keep, they shouldn't keep any of that!
@AustinRuadhain I've been using that recipe for years. I do add more lemon. I look forward to trying the navy bean hummus! I would love to try beet hummus, too, so if you find a good recipe, share it, please! Good job with your day!
@Katmary71 Oh, it's a good sore so it's all good! I recently switched tracking in MFP to Cronometer and I really like it. I've used it in the past. I'm sorry about Asher. Good to know about Teresa. I hope the workouts help keep you out of a wheelchair, I know you don't want to lose what mobility you have. Have a good day!
@laurelfit57 Thank you! Yes, things are looking up. My knee has been bothering me (especially yesterday) but overall, better. Hahaha I bet the ladies room is stinky at this gym, too. I haven't been in it yet. I'm glad this week is better for you. Cronometer is a tracking app/website and I really like the level of detail it gives you. It has a paid version and a free version, I just use the free:
Homemade hummus (and probably the stuff from the farmer's market) is so much better than store-bought. It's so easy to make, too. I am enjoying life! Good job with the class. Even with light weights, I bet you will be sore. Yay for tracking and making your protein goal!!!@alimalli86 Yes, we are a chatty bunch lol! Just do what you can keeping up. I hope you enjoyed your day off!
@Cornanda That book looks good, how is it so far?
DISCUSSION QUESTION: What do you say to yourself when motivation is low? Do you have a mantra or mental trick that helps?
I have the mantra in my signature below, my yearly mantra. I also have the two I posted the other day:
1. I am someone that eats healthy and lives a healthy life.
2. When motivation fails, discipline takes over.
3. I also have this one from my husband...he said he heard it from Kobe Bryant: I never make deals with myself. (Meaning, I don't make bargains like, "I'll skip the workout tonight but do it tomorrow")Hi all. Traffic was really good last night on the way home and so I got home early. I decided to take advantage of it and do a home workout. I did upper body as my lower body is still sore from Sunday! I did a 30-minute workout with dumbbells and body weight. Then I made dinner for myself. I took creatine and about 20 minutes later, I started to get stomach cramps. I asked my DH if that is typical and he said yes. I think I will call the surgeon to make sure I can take it. Maybe the cramping will go away. It wasn't pleasant.
Tracked yesterday? Yes

@Katmary71 Joe had osteopenia for years before it turned into osteoporosis. Are they putting you on any meds? I just saw your question about the church. It’s complicated! This little church has been a huge part of our lives for many years, but a lot has changed. Our new pastor is a great man and very engaged with the church, but his preaching is geared toward evangelism, which is great. However, I crave depth, which I don’t get on a Sunday morning. If I did, I would figure out how to get Joe in and out of the church, but when I’m mostly frustrated each week, I have to ask why we are doing this. Of course, working for the church takes this to another level of complication. I'm just torn between my obligation as a church member and doing what is right for Joe and me at this time in our lives. I'm praying about it! 🙂
@trooworld Good job on getting in a home workout! I take creatine too, and don’t feel anything other than good when I take it. You might need to get used to it or change your brand. It’s one of the best supplements we can take, and so much new research is coming out on how good it is for women. 🙂
Good morning! Today, we are home, and I plan to do my workout and get Joe to do his exercises, too. He is done with the antibiotics and had a shot yesterday for his low hemoglobin, so I’m hoping he can regain a little more energy. I am giving up my afternoon coffee in the hopes that it will also stop me from being triggered to snack. I also just heard that K-cups leach microplastics into our brains, and that doesn't sound good! 😲DISCUSSION QUESTION: What do you say to yourself when motivation is low? Do you have a mantra or mental trick that helps? Motivation doesn’t work for me because it doesn’t ever last. I have to commit to my plan and then become obsessed with it. My commitment is failing right now, and I’m trying to figure out how to get it back.😕

Hi 👋
I have PT today for my knee and shoulder. Later on, my grand babe has a baseball game, the last one this year. I'm looking forward to it. Then tonight, I'll start my increase of Wegovy. I'm hoping there won't be any side effects.
Y'all have a great day 😀
