WEIGH IN UPDATE
Reminder To Weigh In Tomorrow To @askewcrYou all are rockin it this week with weighing in on time, thank you! My neighbor's coming to dinner so I gotta run but am hoping to come back later to catch up. I was asked if I'd be willing to take two of the siblings of my three fosters, they're currently in a bathroom with the mom and a very feral daughter. I said sure so they'll be here tomorrow, my three have loved being in the bigger room though twice now a kitty has gone missing and has been stuck in the closet! Freaks me out to see one gone, the female did it first and was silent, the orange kitty did it and heard me come in with breakfast and raised heck until I found him! I stuffed a blanket in from bottom to top so let's see them get in now! It's going to be crazy when they're all getting spayed and neutered.
Having these for dinner with gluten free cornbread, canteloupe, and salad. I've had them before they're good. https://www.skinnytaste.com/turkey-santa-fe-zucchini-boats/

@laurelfit57 Awe, it’s so sweet that Ty and Vannie could provide the much-needed support you all needed after your team lost. 😄 I love your story about the Pride flag and why it is in your garden. No matter what your personal thoughts are on someone’s lifestyle choices, violence must NEVER be tolerated, and that includes egging people’s homes!😠
@Katmary71 More kitties!!! 😻😻
@trooworld I used to love Panda Express! Your grocery bill must have gone down now that you can make one dinner last for three meals. 😀
Good morning! Today, I’m taking Joe to his oncologist to check his potassium and give him some fluids. I’ve been worried about him getting dehydrated from the side effects of the antibiotics. I must also run to the church to drop off the payroll, pick up the contributions, and mail. Joe's family will be here late this afternoon, but I’m not sure if they will come over or wait until tomorrow. We will decide once they get here and how Joe is feeling. I have also decided that we won’t even try to go to a restaurant or anywhere else. We will order in or go pick up food and just hang out in the house for the two days. The girls can help me finish my latest 3000-piece puzzle, and the guys can watch sports. Maybe we will find some movies to watch. I do feel bad that we can’t entertain them by going places like we have done in the past, but it is what it is. 😕

@Katmary71 you are going to have a house full of love with all of those kittens ♥️!!! so cute!!!
@trooworld Do you live in LA ? I have been there a few times, traffic was mind-boggling. It sounds like you can eat just about everything now, is that right? I know at first you were so limited. I haven't had panda express for years and years.
@TeresaW2024 my word you are one busy woman ! I'm hoping all goes well at the oncologist today. Sounds like a very wise decision to stay at home while visiting with his kids. Too many changes at the same time, that can really go off the rails.
I took the dogs to the same class this morning, typically I will run the full course with Vannie a few times and maybe a couple of times Ty will do a few jumps in a row. Today our trainer decided Ty could run most of the course. There was only one other dog in class so I did not get a lot of breaks. I put on over 8000 steps in an hour🥴. It is very warm and humid here, I came out of that class soaking wet🤣. I am so glad that I have gone back to the gym, I could not have done this a few weeks ago. I came home, made some lunch, sat down on the couch and I am now trying to convince myself to get off of the couch and do something🤣. I am trying to make sure that I get enough food into me early in the day so I am not over eating at night.
Hope everybody had a great day!

Reminder To Weigh In Tomorrow To @davors19 @Cornanda @trooworld @vegan4lyfe20120 -
@FushiaKat Thanks ! That’s so frustrating about the trike I hope everything works out with small claims proceedings. Wow that’s one awesome trike I love it! You need a skull flag on it though the orange matches it well. Being recumbent it ought to be easier on the body too, great score!
@baodell17724 I hope the holidays aren ’t as hard for you this year too. WOW congratulations on 80lbs down!
@micaroo4 Your analytical take on going off plan is awesome , how you respond is so inspiring!
@trooworld Thanks ! LOL I had that happen with the ten year ones too, I’ve never had those or any other last the full year either. That’s awesome to see women lifting how inspiring! Your weather sounds so nice there. A rest day sounds like just what you needed. I hope the new kitties do well too, one is friendly and the other has been hiding so fingers crossed he’s calmer tomorrow. Very nice of you to take care of your sister’s cat! I can tell you right now the decision to stay home won’t matter to the family they just want to see you two. I’m glad you made that decision and took some stress off yourself. Praying Joe’s appointment goes well!
@TeresaW2024 LOL I love “as long as you don’t get too attached and become that crazy cat lady who grows plants and has a million cats”, I don’t know anyone like that!!!! Yay on Joe thinking food looked good especially one that isn’t his favorite!
@laurelfit57 Thanks ! I’m sorry to hear your team didn’t do well. You rocked that BBQ and what you had after, wtg! I do that often where I’ll do fine while around everyone else then have the worst urge to stop for junk on the way home, luckily I do try to do something “less bad” like have fruit or veggies for a snack. I love the reason for your pride flag it’s pretty amazing to think of how someone just driving by your house would feel cared about which is beautiful. LOL your pups look like they’re telling everyone “there’s no crying in baseball” (like in A League of Their Own), cheery up already! Wow that’s some serious exercise, isn’t that the best feeling to know you can now do something you couldn’t in the past?!
@askewcr Nope you ’re stronger than that go get it!
@19shmoo69 LOL !
Hi gang! Started arugula and lettuce at the greenhouse, the other volunteer that helps me was here and it was great to hang out with her. She’ll be gone next week. I had been feeding the cats half the old food and half the new (expensive) cat food and last night was the first time only having the new food and what a hot mess this morning, they’d been throwing up and had diarrhea (thankfully in the litterbox for that). The two kittens came and are beautiful, one is friendly and the other is still hiding. Last night the cute orange kitten ran between my legs when I was leaving and ran back under my bed and wouldn’t come out no matter what I did (I popped in on the way back to go to bed so was NOT happy). Asher peeked under at him and he followed Asher out thank goodness. Went to the functional medicine practitioner’s as she was lending me a book on animals and micro current, I’ve had some good luck using it with the kittens helping them calm down and will try it with the new kitten tonight. Have a great Friday friends.
Oh can't remember who asked but when the kittens are two pounds I'll take them to get spayed/neutered and they go up for adoption after that. They're getting close! I have to go through seeing them all leave me before I can say if I'll do it again, I'm trying to view it as I'm helping bridge them to their new homes.

I just want to make a pitch for vegetables. I bought myself an over the counter continuous glucose monitor. I've been wearing it for 2 weeks. First surprise was that my blood sugar was dropping low in the night, and I believe the low blood glucose was the cause of my insomnia. Second surprise was that I have glucose SPIKES during the day, some of them over 140! I am not a diabetic; my fasting blood glucose is around 80, and my A1C is 4.2. So when the graph from my glucose monitor showed a bunch of peaks and valleys, I was surprised. Over the past 2 weeks I've learned to tame those spikes, and I'm sleeping much better. MUCH better. One of the things that has helped most is to start every meal (or snack) with a non-starchy vegetable. If I'm going to eat a cup of yogurt, I'll start with 1/2 cup of raw or cooked veggies. General rule for me is to eat 1/2 as much in veggies (in volume) as I'm going to consume for the meal or snack. Without the veggies, the vanilla yogurt causes a glucose spike of over 40 points. With the veggies eaten FIRST, barely a ripple. And it's maintaining that control during the day that makes the nights go better. So eat your veggies - FIRST!

@katmary71 I'm so sorry the kittens were so sick !! Sounds like Asher is doing an amazing job:)
@Cornanda congrats on the loss !! Thanks for the tip on making the "pan eggs". I used all the bits and bobs I had left in the fridge and it turned out delicious😊
@trooworld . Congrats on the loss!! That's awesome that you can eat almost everything. Ty typically only does about 4 and or 5 jumps tunnels at the most. Yesterday she did so the jumps and tunnels were just didn't do the contracts (teeters, A-frame etc). She moves faster than my brain can think 🤣. I thought you were in CA someplace, all that sunshine:). All your plans for this evening sounds great.
@ micaroo that is VERY interesting about the veggies . Can you eat your veggies with the food or does it need to be before? I just made up an egg dish that is loaded with mainly spinach and broccoli.
I dropped both dogs off at daycare at 8 this morning then headed to the gym. I did spin had a little break then yoga. I did my grocery shopping, did some meal prep, went back to pick up to pick up the pups, home by 5 I'm pooped.
One of the things I made was an egg dish with spinach, broccoli, sun-dried tomatoes (I made in my airfryer:)), cottage cheese and light cheese. I sort of emptied the fridge lol.
Hope everyone had a great day!!

CW - 224Oh well I regained last weeks loss after a pretty wonky week. Hoping it’s not all a true gain as went for an Indian last night which was very heavy and included lots of carbs, probs not the best choice before stepping on the scales this morning 😂
We are currently having a heat wave here in south wales (which is unusual for us lol) It hit 31 yesterday, so slept on a camp bed in the front room under the aircon unit as we only have it in the one room lol Might weigh again tom to see if it’s different but just moving forward for a loss this week.

@trooworld congrats on your loss this week! It's awesome that you are getting all these workouts in!
@micaroo4 - veggies are so good for you. I'm glad your new routine is helping you sleep better
@laurelfit57 your eggs look delish! I didn't think about using up the fridge smidges in an egg bake- great idea
@allimalli Stay cool!
Hooray! It's Saturday!

@Katmary71 As long as you keep seeing yourself as the bridge for the kitties to find their new homes, you will be able to say goodbye and be available for more kitties. I mean, big cats are great, but you already have them. This way, you get the best of both worlds without going through the awful teenage stage cats go through. 😆
@baodell17724 Congrats on your 80 lb. loss! That is fantastic!!
@trooworld Congrats on your two lb. loss! I’m glad the creatine didn’t make you gain. It doesn’t affect my weight either.
@Cornanda Wow, you are doing awesome!! I know you will hit 20 lbs. This week. Just stay focused on your goals.
@micaroo4 That is so very interesting about the veggies! What type of veggies are you eating the most before a meal?
@laurelfit57 That egg dish looks so good and super healthy!
Good morning! Well, our first day of the family visit went great! Joe is doing really well and is so happy to sit and spend time with them. Today will be another day of sitting around. They are planning to go shopping during Joe’s nap, and he wants to give his granddaughter some money to shop, so we will make that happen. The good thing about not being able to go out is that this year’s visit will be much cheaper for us. I ordered stuff for subs for our lunches.. Hadley, the granddaughter, requested Chick-fil-A for dinner, so we did that. We will see what she wants to do today. 😀3 -

[Nothing much to report after my "80 lb loss" announcement. I will say that this week I've been doing some pondering-thinking-contemplation about my weight-loss - a sort of mental check-in - which has made me feel more optimistic, after the end of last month/beginning of this month weight 'bouncing around-plateauing!' 😊]

@laurelfit57 - veggies first, before the meal. My CGM app includes a "learn" button, which takes me to their website with tons of articles and suggestions for controlling spikes. That's where I found that suggestion, and tried it. It's actually pretty amazing how much of a difference that one little change makes. If the veggies are all mixed in, it still helps a bit. But even better, just fix a small salad as a starter.
@TeresaW2024 - I've tried spinach, carrots, green beans and broccoli. They all worked, cooked or raw.

These are the recommendations from my Stelo app. It was the last one, eat in a specific order, that makes a significant difference for ME. But every body is different.
How to avoid glucose spikes
Understanding the “why” and “when” of glucose spikes and training yourself to recognize patterns can help you manage your glucose much more effectively. And fortunately, there are several things you can do to help prevent or avoid spikes:
Monitor your glucose levels
Use a glucose biosensor to check your levels before and after eating. This can help you see how different foods affect your glucose.
Choose whole grains
Opt for whole grains instead of refined ones. They break down more slowly, preventing rapid spikes.
Eat more fiber
Fiber helps slow down the digestion of carbohydrates, keeping your glucose levels more stable.
Balance your meals
Pair carbs with fats and proteins. This combination slows down the digestion of carbohydrates, leading to more gradual changes in blood sugar.
Eat in a specific order
Try eating vegetables or protein before carbs. This can help reduce the extent of a glucose spike after a meal.

Hi 👋
I've been busy running errands and taking care of grands. The older one is a typical "teenager" with the whole attitude that goes with it. I've been getting a lot of disturbed sleep. It's cold, dark and rainy out today and I would love to take it easy, but it's not going to happen. I'm going to try and play board games with the younger one and lol.... pawn off the teenager 😅😅😅 all my "helpers" have not helped 😅😅
I'm going to try and make some better food choices today. When I go to the bathroom, I can tell I'm not getting enough fiber.

@TeresaW2024 it sounds like the visit with your company is going so well , that's awesome! Having company come to stay, can definitely get to be expensive🥴.
@trooworld is it easy to stop at a small amount of chips ? I still struggle with that! It sounds like you had a great workout at the gym! Don't be too impressed with the yoga class, it is a hot yin, where we kind of hang around in gentle stretches for 3 to 5 minutes each🤣. That spreadsheet is most impressive, what a great progress you have made!! Congratulations👏🏻
@micaroo except for breakfast , I had veggies before I ate anything today, including snacks. Before my fruit with cottage cheese snack, I had some raw carrots and celery, that felt a little weird lol. I just read your next post, can you eat either protein or veggies before a meal or is it best to do veggies?
My grand kiddos are at their other grandparents place this weekend, so I have switched things up. I went to the gym and did another barbell class this morning which was much harder than my other barbell class lol. I was determined to get through all of my laundry and a good clean of my kitchen, all missions accomplished. I kept seeing all of these postings for recipes for making protein bagels that had up to 28 g of protein in them. When I did the math on the recipes I got nowhere near 28 grams of protein. I did make these in my air fryer, they turned out pretty good! I will have to make the holes bigger next time though lol. They were 150 cal and 9 g of protein each. So if I have one of those along with the eggs I just made, that is 27 g of protein and 311 cal. I'm pretty happy with that. I must say, it was !filling!

@laurelfit57 - Every body probably reacts a little differently. For me, veggies had a better result than protein, but both work. When possible, I've been eating veggies first, then the protein, and the starches and sweets last. If you don't want veggies first, for your snack you could try eating cottage cheese first, and the fruit last.

@trooworld I love your trackers! You are doing amazing! 🤩
@micarro4 It is fascinating that the type of veggie doesn’t seem to matter. 😀
@laurelfit57 Those bagels look good even if they are missing their hole! 😀
Good morning! We had another good day with our family visiting, and I am so happy that Joe could enjoy time with them. It’s incredible how much energy just trying to stay engaged takes from him. He will be wiped out today, but we will be home and taking it easy. My goal is to get back to our routine, and that mainly includes me getting back to working out and NOT eating! My weight is so up, and I feel like a slug. I am going to do a light rebounder workout today and eat lightly. I have to get back to losing this weight before I regain everything I lost this year! 😕3 -
Good Morning Slims,
@micaroo4 that is very interesting info. I have been doing this with my meals for the last 3 months, eating my meat and veggie before carbs so that I get them down before I get too full.
@laurelfit57 your bagels look yummy.
@TeresaW2024 I am happy to see that the visit with family went well. Don't be hard on yourself, stress alone can be hard on your body.
This was a pretty normal week here. Morning walks with Diesel on Mon. Wed. and Fri. On Tues and Thurs did work around the house. We went out with friends last night to Red Robins, not the best food choices so I did my best and ordered off the kids menu, cheeseburger with sweet potato fries. Which was the right amount of food for me. I even left food on my plate. I stopped eating when I was satisfied.
We have 2 more weeks before our next camping trip then I will be finishing up started projects around the house during the hottest months July and Aug.Weigh In Sunday: June 22

@baodell17724 - congrats on 80 pounds that is AWESOME!
@trooworld - congrats on the loss! Your workout stats AND your spreadsheet making skills are impressive. The Q drink sounds interesting and so pretty with the tiny cups and the beautiful silver pitcher
@TeresaW2024 - glad the visit went well- you're right it's good for all of them to have time together. I echo what other slims have said- be kind to yourself- you have a lot going on right now.
@laurelfit57 - your bagels look tasty!
Quiet weekend here. I need to get my butt in gear and get some things crossed off my To Do list. Yesterday DH and I went to a community theater musical. We enjoyed it. Talented people! It was nice to get out- Gus still is not crazy about us leaving, but he has improved and did quite well yesterday, so that was a win. There's some crap going on at work that started on Friday. I'm trying not to think about it over the weekend, but a bit crept in. I will try my best to put it out of my mind and enjoy the rest of my weekend.
