@laurelfit57 - Every body probably reacts a little differently. For me, veggies had a better result than protein, but both work. When possible, I've been eating veggies first, then the protein, and the starches and sweets last. If you don't want veggies first, for your snack you could try eating cottage cheese first, and the fruit last.

@trooworld I love your trackers! You are doing amazing! 🤩

@micarro4 It is fascinating that the type of veggie doesn’t seem to matter. 😀

@laurelfit57 Those bagels look good even if they are missing their hole! 😀

Good morning! We had another good day with our family visiting, and I am so happy that Joe could enjoy time with them. It’s incredible how much energy just trying to stay engaged takes from him. He will be wiped out today, but we will be home and taking it easy. My goal is to get back to our routine, and that mainly includes me getting back to working out and NOT eating! My weight is so up, and I feel like a slug. I am going to do a light rebounder workout today and eat lightly. I have to get back to losing this weight before I regain everything I lost this year! 😕

@laurelfit57 It is (for now, I don't know if it will always be easy. It's the threat of getting sick that keeps me in line lol). I did have a great workout! Hey, I don't care if it was just stretching...to be at the gym for what? 2 hours? is mentally challenging alone, aside from the physical. It shows real commitment to stay at the gym that long! Thank you! Good job with the barbell class! Way to push through. That's a big difference in the claimed protein of the bagels vs what they actually were. I hate when that happens! Your bagels look really good, too!

@TeresaW2024 Thank you ! I'm so relieved to hear the visit is going well. Be gentle with yourself, you are going through a lot of stress and activity. Hugs.

Hi all. Yesterday was a really fun day. The gym wasn't too busy, which was nice. I was upstairs in the stretching and ab area of the gym while this lady that was about my age was doing some stuff. She saw me doing wall push-ups and after my first set, she came over and said, "You can do more" and she took me over to the railing by the stairs and showed me a proper push-up on the rail, which was a lot more challenging and just what I needed. It was so nice of her to help me and push me to do more. We went to coffee 3 times yesterday! One of the times, we went to a Kurdish coffee shop and I had a drink called Qezwan. It's made from ground, roasted terebinth fruits, which are related to pistachios. It's a caffeine-free drink made with milk and a touch of sugar. It was an interesting beverage served in tiny cups. We picked up chicken shawarma bowls to go from Yelp's #1 rated restaurant (3 years ago). It was pretty tasty but I wouldn't call it my #1 favorite restaurant. I promptly spilled both of my sauces all over my living room floor lol before I ate. That was a bit of a bummer to clean up.

    Tracked yesterday? Yes

    Good Morning Slims,

@micaroo4 that is very interesting info. I have been doing this with my meals for the last 3 months, eating my meat and veggie before carbs so that I get them down before I get too full.

    @laurelfit57 your bagels look yummy.

@TeresaW2024 I am happy to see that the visit with family went well. Don't be hard on yourself, stress alone can be hard on your body.

This was a pretty normal week here. Morning walks with Diesel on Mon. Wed. and Fri. On Tues and Thurs did work around the house. We went out with friends last night to Red Robins, not the best food choices so I did my best and ordered off the kids menu, cheeseburger with sweet potato fries. Which was the right amount of food for me. I even left food on my plate. I stopped eating when I was satisfied.
We have 2 more weeks before our next camping trip then I will be finishing up started projects around the house during the hottest months July and Aug.

@baodell17724 - congrats on 80 pounds that is AWESOME!

@trooworld - congrats on the loss! Your workout stats AND your spreadsheet making skills are impressive. The Q drink sounds interesting and so pretty with the tiny cups and the beautiful silver pitcher

@TeresaW2024 - glad the visit went well- you're right it's good for all of them to have time together. I echo what other slims have said- be kind to yourself- you have a lot going on right now.

@laurelfit57 - your bagels look tasty!

Quiet weekend here. I need to get my butt in gear and get some things crossed off my To Do list. Yesterday DH and I went to a community theater musical. We enjoyed it. Talented people! It was nice to get out- Gus still is not crazy about us leaving, but he has improved and did quite well yesterday, so that was a win. There's some crap going on at work that started on Friday. I'm trying not to think about it over the weekend, but a bit crept in. I will try my best to put it out of my mind and enjoy the rest of my weekend.

    Hi 👋

Today, is going to be quite a day. Hubby has over done it and, he had too much to drink the other night and fell down. Now, he is on crutches and his knee is swollen really bad. I hope it gets better with rest. Lol… I'm always telling him that he needs to cut way back on his drinking.

Yesterday, we had our new furnace put in, it was only 60° degrees and we had no heat. Now, though, we have heat and AC.

I made some better food choices yesterday and today I'm going to try and do better. I didn't move much because I was hiding under a blanket to keep warm. Since hubby is on crutches, I'm going to be doing plenty of moving around, lol…

    Y'all have a good day 😊

Hi friends! In bed just wanted to say hi. Yesterday was the HOA meeting and potluck then I took the cats to Petco for the rescue group to trim their nails. Spending most of my time with kitties, the kittens are doing better now back on old food. All 5 are great kittens, they love playing, being brushed, being pet, and being with other cats. My two are a little jealous so I'm spending extra time with them too. I'm almost caught up on mushroom stuff have a few more jars to do then I'll get a break. My parents dropped by today and we went to dinner. Have a great Monday, will catch up more tomorrow.

@sleepygirl79 Way to go , achieving 1st place!!! And team, congrats on achieving 2nd/3rd place for the week! Another shout-out goes to @bobboyardee and @Cornanda for making it onto the leaderboard . Woo hoo!

@txcritter69 How's Diesel doing ? Good job with the kids menu and leaving food on the plate.

@Cornanda Thank you ! The spreadsheet--- I just copied someone else's on the spreadsheet lol. My skills aren't nearly as impressive! The drink was very interesting, like nothing I've ever had before. I've always wondered about community theater, I love to go see plays and musicals but I never go to the small productions. Maybe I'll give it a try. I'm glad Gus did better, I didn't realize he had separation anxiety. Ugh, I hate when I think of work on my off-times. I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night thinking about work. I hope the crap works itself out.

@DrewsAnna I hope your hubby feels better soon .

@laurelfit57 Congrats on the loss !

@Katmary71 I'm glad the kittens are doing so well . They are thriving in your environment!

Hi all. The gym went well yesterday. I am improving in all areas. Came home and I opened the fridge to get the natural peanut butter and the whole container of leftover chicken shawarma bowl fell out of the fridge and onto the ground! Yellow rice and chicken went everywhere. I was so mad lol. Mostly because I had to clean it up. Between spilling the sauces and then the bowl spilling on the floor, I was not destined to eat that food lol. I met a friend at the photography museum and we took about 2 hours walking through it. It was really fun. Afterward, she offered to treat me to lunch at a cafe by the museum so we had lunch. I got the cheapest thing on the menu because it was a bit expensive and I felt bad: grilled cheese sandwich with salad. I ate about half the grilled cheese and all the salad.

    @baodell17724 – 80 pound loss!?! Amazing!!!

@micaroo4 – Thank you for sharing your observations! It’s amazing how much vegetables effect glucose. I had no idea! I’m going to give that a try and see if I sleep better. That’s been a real difficulty for me.

@alimalli86 – Hugs on the gain. I’m betting that Indian food is 100% the culprit. Hope it cools down for you!

@Cornanda – You are gonna hit it! Good luck with the work issue. I hope everything works out.

@TeresaW2024 – So glad to hear the family visit is going good. How old is Hadley? Hugs on the weight. I totally felt like a slug yesterday…made it to church, but then lounged at the theater (28 Years Later) and then lounged at home (heat index was over 100 degrees). And I stupidly had the theater popcorn again. My tummy was hurting afterwards. Ugh.

@trooworld – Your chart of exercise is fascinating…love how the red is dissipating and that lifting is freaking amazing! Sorry about your spilled sauces. That’s so sad. I’m a sauce fiend and would have cried. Super sucks about the bowl, too. That Qezwan drink looks so smooth and creamy!

@laurelfit57 – Care to share your bagel recipe, please?

@txcritter69 – Nice job at Red Robin! I can’t wait to be your current weight. That’s my goal weight. What is your goal weight? Nice job with your steady loss!

@DrewsAnna – We’re in a heat warning here in SW Michigan. Can I please have some of your cool weather?

@sleepygirl79 – Glad to hear your feet are getting better. Hugs!

@Katmary71 – Hello! I am jealous of all the furry babies! I just picture them flowing all over and around you LOLs. They are so sweet!

@bobboyardee – Have you watched 28 Years Later yet? I went yesterday and will probably watch it at least one more time while it’s at the theater.

@19shmoo69 – Discovered any new coffees lately?

I’ve been having a private message conversation on MFP with a person I’ve been friends with on here for a long time. I’m seriously missing the newsfeed. Anyway, in those convos, I think I discovered why I’ve been craving all the vegan junk foods (chickie nuggies, tater tots, just egg, cheeze, etc). The cravings have been super intense ever since I got rid of all those flavored olive and avocado oils I used to cook with. It’s like I’m going through withdrawals. So I need to buckle down and focus on batch cooking my grains and beans and keeping veggies ready to go, too.

I attended a crafting event on Saturday and made fruit salad to bring. It had been YEARS since I made fruit salad and I’m kicking myself for not doing it more often. So delicious! In case anyone wants to make it, I do approximately 4 servings worth: 6 clementines, 2 kiwis, 1 cup strawberries, 1 cup red grapes and the zest of 1 lime. For the dressing, it’s the juice of the lime (about 1 T), 1 T agave (you can use honey if that's all you have) and ½ tsp poppy seeds. Whisk it up, pour over the fruit and mix carefully. So yummy!
If anyone has a different riff on fruit salad that does NOT have melon, please share!

    Stay hydrated!

@ microo thanks !  I am trying to give it a go, I will try anything to improve sleep:).  I tried it on Saturday, definitely had a better night sleep. Tried it again yesterday, I wasn't great at the timing. I am making more of an effort today :-).

@TeresaW2024 I'm so glad it is going well with Joe's family .   You've got this, I know you'll get back on track. Just remember to be kind to yourself, you have so much going on!!

@trooworld I have been going to this gym for a couple of years now , so have come to know a few people. I have a half hour break between barbell and yoga, so it's kind of nice to chat with others who are waiting for the next class. One thing I do enjoy about the gym, is getting to know people and how encouraging we can all be for each other. I'm so glad that lady took the time, it makes a big difference!  Three coffee dates in one day, that sounds lovely!  Oh no about the sauces! Hoping you have bare floors rather than carpeting, that would've been a major cleanup!

Just reading this morning's post, hmmmm maybe that whole chicken Shawarma thing is jinxed!  Sounds like the time with your friend was delightful!

@txcritter69 how is Diesel ?? It has been a long time since I checked on him, last time I asked he had gone to somebody's place for training and you had just got him home.  We don't have a Red Robins here anymore, we used to go when my kids were younger. My favourite there was their chicken fajitas!  Congrats on the loss!

@Cornanda I'm glad that Gus is getting better at you leaving . Vannie is the same, although I must say for two hours or less she is just fine. I'm sorry that there is drama going on at work, remembering that makes me very happy I am retired now.

@katmary71 sounds like all is delightful on the kitty front ! That's nice that you can take them to get their nails trimmed :-). It's good that you're spending extra time with the old crew, I know sometimes the OG need a little extra love♥️

    @AustinRuadhain congrats on the loss!!

@Vegan4lyfe2012 the recipe is super simple ! One cup of thick plain yogurt, one cup of self rising flour (or flour and 2 teaspoons of baking soda).  If you look on Pinterest or just google it, high protein bagels, they are all only either two or three ingredient. I read somewhere that people were finding it boring so put in a little garlic powder or cheese etc. in mine I put maybe half a teaspoon or a teaspoon of garlic powderand I had about an eighth of a cup of shredded cheddar cheese in my fridge. I have to admit they exceeded my expectations! You will find recipes with both cottage cheese and yogurt.  I used one of the air fryer recipes. That fruit salad looks delicious!!

My grandkids went to their other grandparents on Friday night for a sleepover, so I thought I wouldn't be seeing them for the weekend. I got a phone call from my granddaughter yesterday telling me that she missed me and wanted to come and hang out with me. I told her it might be kind of boring, I was just doing some cleaning, farmers market etc. she thought that sounded better than hanging at her house, so I got to spend the day with my granddaughter yesterday. We spring cleaned their room lol. It was a lovely day. About 4 o'clock this morning we had such a thunderstorm come through, it woke me up. I usually sleep right through them, but I had my patio door almost wide open so there was no barrier and it was right above our house! The thunder cracked and the sky lit up with lightning at exactly the same time. Vannie slept right through it, Ty was a little worried, but she did well. I went to the gym and did spin class this morning. I'm having a hard time getting going, it is just a really dreary day. I'm trying really hard to be mindful with my food sequencing, I am all about anything that will help with my sleep. I can't complain I am up to a solid 5 1/2 to six hours every night, my NP says that I should be able to do better than that, so I will give this go!

trooworld Sounds like we’re both expecting the other shoe to drop with the weather! That stinks about the parking at your SILs, you shouldn’t have to stay in the car when dropping by to feed the cat. I’m sure the kitty would like you being the animal lover that you are. I’ll post the kitten updates below, they’re actually about to get their vaccines despite the tummy issues. I hope the dogs are feeling better! You had a great week especially expecting the creatine to cause issues! You’re rocking those workouts and food! Happy birthday to the hubby! Seriously impressive change in activity and lifting I love those. Your coffee drink at the Kurdish shop sounds so good! I saw that on Facebook and was thrown as Muri is my Mom’s maiden name. I’ve never heard of terebinth fruit now I need to find a Kurdish coffee shop! Hahaha now that I’m reading this today’s post from you about the chicken shawarma falling makes more sense, why the heck do things like that happen?! The photography museum sounds awesome I’m glad you and your friend did that. You’re a sweetheart choosing the cheapest thing on the menu, I tend to do that too if people are treating me. Do you remember me talking about the woman who owned the functional medicine clinic? We treated her for her birthday at an expensive sushi place and she ordered 4 different items and definitely did NOT care about price! She got an entrée, a soup, then two other rolls so it was like $25 each to cover her meal for the four of us, I’ve NEVER seen someone do that when getting treated (still in shock!). Sorry you lost your shawarma that’s a bummer to both lose it then have to clean RICE off the floor which you’ll probably be finding for awhile. Wouldn’t that be something if a food poisoning notice came out for the restaurant’s chicken shawarma?

@Cornanda Congrats on 19lbs down! I’m glad you had fun at the musical. Yay for Gus doing better without you there. I hope the stuff@ at work is resolved, hang in there.

@micaroo4 That’s fascinating your blood sugar swings despite not being diabetic. I love you’re finding what’s improving things and hugely excited about you sleeping better!

@laurelfit57 That egg dish looks amazing, so do your bagels! Only 150 calories for a bagel is awesome! I’ve always wanted to try those bagels they’ve been very popular on the boards here. The extra cheese in them sounds awesome! How touching your granddaughter wanted to hang out with you. I hope the food sequencing helps your sleep too!

@alimalli86 Chances are the meal out is upping your weight, hang in there! I had that happen after Chinese recently, it’s amazing how much we can gain from one meal out.

@TeresaW2024 Thank you I hope I stick to being able to foster and not keep any! I’m so glad the family visit is going well. I hope the rebounder workout helps your sluggish feeling, sometimes just one day back at it can help a lot.

@baodell17724 I’m glad you’re feeling more optimistic after thinking about your weight loss.

@DrewsAnna Have fun with the grands today! I hope your sleep improves, it’s always so hard to get through the day on little sleep. I hope your husband is feeling better soon.

@txcritter69 Wonderful job leaving food on your plate at Red Robin ! If I go there I always get the sweet potato fries too, those are the best fresh out of the oven. Your camping trip soon sounds fun!

@sleepygirl79 I’m so glad your plantar fasciitis pain is better, definitely keep healing and take it slow.

CONGRATULATIONS MISSION SLIMPOSSSIBLES IN THIRD PLACE BY PERCENTAGE AND 2ND PLACE BY POUNDS FOR THE WEEK! @sleepygirl79 @bobboyardee @laurelfit57 Wonderful job leading the pack !

@vegan4lyfe2012 Your fruit salad looks so delicious! I’m glad your friend on here is helping you figure out cravings. I really miss the feed too!

@bobboyardee Congrats on being at 200 right now, woohoo!

Hi team! Caught up on most of the last few days, I’m sorry for not posting much been trying to get the kittens on the right track. They were going to get vaccinations today but most are losing weight so we’re waiting until their systems balance out (trying to figure out if they have something now). I got up this morning and a few of the kittens had thrown up and had diarrhea and none would touch their food. I made chicken and rice which they thankfully ate and so far it’s going well though a few are lethargic and a little dehydrated. My nephews volunteered at the farm with me today which was fun, we harvested dill flowers, eggplant, and pulled weeds then I did romano beans before they got there. I was hoping to get the Board minutes done tonight but probably not going to finish, I’ll at least get them started. Have a great Tuesday friends!

    @AustinRuadhain Good job !

@vegan4lyfe2012 Thank you , friend! Oh I was so upset about spilling those sauces and then the bowl. I was like, what the heck is going on here? LOL The Qezwan was interesting and I would get it again. What was wrong with the flavored olive and avocado oils? I missed that you gave them up. Good idea to batch cook. I LOVE fruit salad! Your recipe is very similar to mine, NO MELON: https://cafedelites.com/honey-lime-fruit-salad-recipe/

@laurelfit57 Oh that is nice that you have been going there and have a break and can chat . I am glad that woman reached out to me, too. I loved going to coffee 3 times but I did NOT sleep well Saturday night lol. Yes, we have laminate floors so no worries about clean up! I was mad though lol. I had a great time with my friend. Awww that's sweet that your granddaughter called and wanted to hang out. I can't believe Vannie slept through a thunderstorm, wow! Good job with the spin class. I hope the food sequencing helps your sleep.

@bobboyardee You are doing amazing ! Congrats on the continued success and the loss!

@Katmary71 Yes ! Yeah the parking there is awful. The dogs are feeling better and back to their bad selves lol. Thank you! Ah interesting about Muri. I hope you find a Kurdish coffee shop! I couldn't believe the sauces AND the chicken fell. It was definitely not meant to be lol. Yes, I remember you talking about her. Oh gosh, that is rude! That would be freaky if a warning came out lol. I'm sorry the kittens are experiencing some things, good idea to make chicken and rice. Fun that your nephew volunteered with you.

@baodell17724 Thanks for the article , interesting!

Hi all. Traffic was light on the way home but I didn't end up doing a work out, I took it as a rest day. Couple of reasons for that: I went hard at working out all weekend and then as I was taking Violet out, she got out of her harness ran up to this big husky dog and was barking at him. It shook me up so badly, I needed to sit down and calm down. So, hopefully traffic is light tonight.

Do you track your progress in any way besides the scale? How does it help you stay motivated?

  • TeresaW2024

@vegan4lyfe2012 Thank you so much for my sweet card! It made my day! ❤️ Hadley is 11 years old and very tall. She is a very good girl and an excellent tennis player. We watched some videos of her recent tennis tournament where she smoked everyone. 😄 This heat wave is hitting many of us, and I don’t like it! 🥵 Ohhh popcorn! Why do you have to be so dang tasty!! That fruit salad looks so good and refreshing! 😀

@lauralfit57 that is so sweet that your granddaughter wanted to just hang out with you. How old is she? That storm sounds like some of the ones we have been having lately. 😬

@Katmary71 Awe, poor kitties! Sounds like they might have worms? I hope they can get vaccinated and stop making messes for you to clean up. How fun to have your nephews join you at the farm. You are teaching them the joy of plants! 🙂

@trooworld Oh my goodness, what happened with Violet is so scary! Sounds like you needed a day off. 🙂

Good morning! Like so many, we are also experiencing a heat wave and possible storms all week. After my morning workout, I’m taking Joe to run a few quick errands before the heat sets in. I just leave him in the car with the air conditioner running, so he can people-watch. I aim to leave my house as little as possible until fall arrives, so all errands must be grouped and done early in the day! 🥵 I am happy that I didn’t have a big gain this week, but I am also very disappointed with how poorly I’ve done this year. We are almost halfway through 2025, and I’ve only lost 17 lbs. I know that I’m under a lot of stress with Joe, but I also know that eating my emotions isn’t the answer. I need to regain control of my behavior and stop letting my emotions dictate my actions. Let’s do this!!! 😄

Question: Do you track your progress in any way besides the scale? How does it help you stay motivated? I’ve done different things like tracking my measurements, but it doesn’t really seem to help. Lord knows I need to find something that will motivate me! 😂😬

    Hi 👋

My daughter came home and picked up her son. Last night was a quiet night. I'm looking forward to some quiet time with my plants today and no running around. As much as I love my grands, it's nice to send them home lol...

I'm feeling good about my weigh in tomorrow. I did my pre-weigh this morning and I'm almost down a pound.

I have figured out that it is really hard to get 100 grams of protein and 25 grams of fiber every day. I'm trying but my goodness. I am also trying a new app called "macrosfirst" that focuses on macros. I haven't really ever paid attention to macros, so this is a little different.

PT is now once a week, which is fine with me, I like it though because it's definitely a workout. Yesterday, I saw someone doing something similar to burpees, but on the wall ,very simple. I came home and tried them out and they are effective. All you do is in a standing position, push away from the wall and raise your arms. Then, do it all over again.

I'm pretty much rambling, so y'all have a great day 😀

Currently I’m looking for non scale victories. Clothes being too big is usually what most people notice of themselves. With that mine has been from undies to boots , not once did I think my boots would get looser. The kool thing is they went from tight on my calf to comfortable. Another is sucking in my gut and seeing my xiphoid process. It definitely helps me to see physical progress.
