Thanks all. Celebrating the lost inches for sure. Loving the breathing room is have in a couple pair of shorts that were snug last summer.

Had a great weekend with family. Not as good food choices as normal, but so much fun. Really focusing on our time together and the fact that it was four days out of a lifetime didn't cause anxiety or anything. And now ready to be home and back at it for a few weeks before more family time.

Congrats on roomier shorts Meg - woot! and.… Yum!! Famly time is so fun - have a girls bbq Tues, and will also chill a bit with it... No guilt, just back at it after.

Took some time this month to just breathe and recharge. My sleep cycle is still really screwed up and it seems to finally have caught up with me. I have a doctor's appointment next week, so will be interesting to get her take on this and any potential solutions.

Two weeks left in the month. Will need to push pretty hard to hit all my goals. Going to be fun to see where it ends.

Had my in-laws here last weekend and got some nice beach time one day. Even went in Lake Michigan it was so hot. I usually don't get in the big lake until August. Close friends are here this weekend. Already had lots of laughs. Planning on a float trip down one of the big rivers Saturday. I am going to use my SUP, which is driving hubby crazy. He can't balance on them and falls off all the time. I have pointed out that I can use them and don't fall frequently. I'll let you know how it goes.

    Floating sounds fun!

Hope you get back on your feet - harder when sleep is dis-rupted.

Being sleep deprived sucks! I hope you can get back on track soon

Thanks to you both for your wishes @yakkystuff and @Catlady27787. This has literally been going on for months and I have got to figure it out without taking meds.

The paddle down the river was so much fun. Hubby was right that it shouldn't have tried to SUP but sitting and kneeling I made it. Will totally do it again but in a kayak next time.

Brutal - hot weather, flashes, stifling humidity, did I say hot weather?

I bought an oversized lap feather throw that I could stick feet in & out easily, whip on & off, used wet/chilled/frozen cloths, an oscilating fan (remote controlled) and soy milk on cereal helped blunt the flashes. Opted out of hrt. Lived to tell about it... hang in!

Thanks @yakkystuff. Great ideas. I don't think this is hrt/menopause related. Went through that over 10 years ago. Also avoided hrt and it was brutal. I think this might be something else, but blood work will tell something. I meant don't want to take sleeping pills.

How is the heat for you? Hope your temps have broken. Supposed to be super hot here for a couple of days, then another big storm to take it back to normal.

    yakkystuff Posts: 2,110 Member

Yeah, can be other things, although mom mentioned maybe 80's hah... i have been having some recently & wondering why? Nothing showed (yet) in 6m bloodwork, but tonight I was teeth chattering cold - had to go put on my granny flanny, lol Life's a mystery! Hope you find yours ' gets better! I also prefer not to do meds for sleep.

You are so right @yakkystuff about life being a mystery. Hoping to start figuring out the sleep thing today. Labs looked fine, but they didn't do a hormone panel since I am so far away from menopause. May ask for one.

Sounds like your heat is coming here. Going to be 90-ish with high humidity for the next ten plus days.

Ok, so had an interesting doctor's appointment last week. Labs look good, weight is awesome. But the sleep and a couple of other issues are pointing to a couple of things. One being long COVID and one being a six month period of my body thinking it is in fight or flight status. That's not good. So, of course the first option is to try to address the fight or flight response. And if course the first option there is meds.

Second option is what i have chosen. Basically a month long reset. No tracking of anything, not food, steps, workout times and intensity, sleep, nothing. Focus on eating nutritious foods, getting movement like easy walks in, and then some relaxation techniques. So, may not be on a lot in the next 30 days. Cheering for your succes!

Sounds like a good approach to try, hope it helps. (((Hugs)))

Thanks to both of you. So far, so good. Sleep seems to be regulating. That is the biggest thing, I think. And just getting out and playing. Only three more weeks to go, lol.

Hey @yakkystuff thanks for checking in. Reset ended up taking longer. New med issue popped up by resolved. So ready to get back at it. Hope you are well!

Glad to hear from you - hard to believe we're in Oct! What's your Oct plan?

I'm still focused on regular meals and intentional movement. Hope to hold steady through the holidays - Halloween always seems like kickoff so will be trying non-food things this year.

  • megd44
    megd44 Posts: 691 Member

My plan @yakkystuff is to start slower. So three days of intentional movement/workouts each week. And to hit my step goal, as Garmin gives me, 5 out of 7 days. No joining challenges, etc this month. Aiming to get back up to what I was doing over the course of 3 or 4 months without sending my body into overdrive.

Not tracking calories yet. But focusing on eating as unprocessed as possible. And lots of fruits, vegetables and as local as I can. Hubby and I canned/frozen a ton of food this year, so hoping that will help too. I know what you mean about Halloween kicking off bad eating choices. Will be really watching that this year too.

That's really good to hear - this year I have been trying to ditch the extraneous, detach tieing things to each other, the scale and the kitchen sink, aka simplify & declutter the process, right? Lol

I mention as your effort strikes me similar and I hope you thrive as you do this.

The stored food sounds wonderful to have on hand, work to preserve but so nice to have them in the pantry, yum!

Thanks @yakkystuff. There are enough outside pressures in life and my previous patterns were only adding more. My body was trying to tell me something for a while. It just took me some time to listen. Feeling so much better now that I have.

It does sound like we are doing some very similar things. I hope your journey is going well for you too!!

    Hi hi :)

It's fall and all sorts of fun things to do & try! A purple potato for dinner tonight - has some fine nutrition benefits, and tasted/felt like a potato ;)

How are you doing? Can't believe we're 1/2 way through Oct already..

Hi @yakkystuff. A purple potato sounds delish. I have seen them here, will have to try it.

So far, having a good month. Hitting goals and enjoying the amazing fall colors. Today starts a pretty crazy two week work run. Will have lots of long days. So trying to balance that with everything else.

    Hope you are doing well.

Hi hi! Can you believe October is wrapping up? We have had glorious weather recently, leaves changing color, rains expected to roll in West coast tomorrow - will feel winterlike soon!

Not sure where everyone is right now, maybe back at New Years...

But if you would like to be in an active group of people talking, the monthly Ultimate Accountability Challenge can join any time. Each month a new group starts public and goes/stays private on the 6th...

can always search 'Ultimate' in groups tab to bring up the current one…usually 35-50 people, (reporting/chatting optional, no one monotoring, so I just participate when desired.)

    Ayyhoo, hope you are well!

Hi @yakkystuff I cannot believe we are at the end of October. I am in northwestern lower Michigan. Colors are amazing here. Rainy now and getting chilly. Winter definitely on the way!!

I was also wondering where everyone else is. Was feeling like this has become a journaling spot and place to check in with you once in a while.

Thanks for the challenge info. I'll look into that for sure. Trying to ease back in gently so I don't throw my body back into flight or fight mode. Feeling way better so may be up for something like that sooner rather than later.

How us everything with you? Hope it is going well.

Hi hi - crazy swampy rain arrived here, must find umbrellas, or be wet, lol

I do understand - there are different times for more or less engagement and intensity. I liked the vibe here and miss everyone!

The group I mentioned is also laid back - topic of day/chat is optional and wide ranging, so can be interesting, but it is not the kind where everyone posts to each person, each day.

There are some personal replies occasionally, but more often, it is people adding their 2 cents to the group on the topic. More, for me, it is being in a group that is active.

I'll post a link when the Nov group opens. The 3 activity goals checkin most people do. I don't at all because I am not tracking right now, so I just visit for the camaraderie. You would be welcome to peep, stay or not :)

Personally, my family always tried the current all the rage diet... then quit, start then stop... drove me nuts, so I ditched diets... The dietician asked us to track a bit here to understand what we are eating, and surprise, I found chatting online helpful… and am glad to meet everyone here... but miss them!

Anyhoo, 1 more week to rock October, then I hope the candy disappears!! Carving a pumpkin instead, I think ;)
