Hi All! My name is Ruth. Always nice to see people from Houston on here!
I've had a long history with losing weight (I was a big kid) and was pretty successful with WW until I started being active, then I think it was a mental thing and I stopped losing on WW. That was about 2.5 years ago and I have gained a lot of the weight back. I'm still very active, finished a half marathon a month ago and am training for a sprint triathlon in June (4 days before my 30th birthday). My goal is to lose 50lbs (no that's not a lofty goal...) before my boyfriend and I go on our cruise in October! I'm motivated!! WE CAN DO THIS!!
One thing I absolutely love about Houston is all the green space. Since I started cycling and running I have seen more of Houston than I ever thought was possible. Anybody seen the giant president heads on I45 going into downtown? Sure right, most people have seen those... but have you seen the rest of the all the giant presidents heads?? Found those on a bike ride!
I don't know how I have never seen those statues! Makes me want to take a tour of all the Houston landmarks I know about (or will know about) but I never see. Like the water wall! I know what it looks like and I know where it is, but I don't think I've ever been.0 -
Hi everyone! My name is Lauren and I joined MFP about a year and a half ago - I've lost about 30 pounds and readjusting goals now that I'm in the ballpark. I live SE and work near the medical center and usually walk, bike, or jog for exercise.0

Hi Houstonians!!
I live in the galleria area and if anyone is a jogger, I'd love to meet up! I started doing c25k last summer and since then I've done 2 5k's and 2 10k's and I'm doing the Green 6.2 in Memorial City on April 28. Feel free to add me!!
^^ where do you typically run? i normally do a 4 mile run at the gym one day a week (use to do more but my knees dont like it so i have to cycle one day a week)
anyways im from the cypress area, here to maintain weight now after needing to gain 5 pounds.
any support is awesome
feel free to add0 -
Hi Houstonians!! My name is Linda, I have been part of fitness pal for almost a year or so. It has helped tremendously when I stick to it! Im Jennifer. Im 21 Kinda a big dork in a small package. I'm 5ft tall, and my SW is 163.
I have not weighed myself yet because I know I've been exercising every day and eating under
1200 calories a day. So I'm not going to be constantly looking at the scale. I'm scared if I look too often and not
see results I will discourage myself. I have been eating very healthy choices though and I am constantly full.
Dinners usually consist of a very large plate of spinach salad with fresh veggies from my garden and a side of baked fish.
I'm excited my best friend Mandy showed me this app.
Feel free to add. I'll take (and give) as much support possible.
And for all you chivers KCCO.0 -
Hi there, I'm maddi8a; in my 30s, married (no kiddos yet) and employed full time. Several friends of mine around the US, Canada and Europe are all working together to get more fit and/or lose weight. This site helps us keep track of one another's habits and milestones without needing to start new threads in our Facebook group.
I joined this site recently, but I've been consistently watching my diet and working out for about five weeks now. My goal is to get down to my ideal body weight. I work out about 4-5 times a week using my Wii (full body cardio and yoga) and have no plans on joining a gym. My asthma makes it very difficult for me to exercise outside of the house, but my husband and I are regular disc golfers and I really enjoy working in my small garden.
I really like this site. Good to meet all of you.0 -
Hey H-town!! My name is Sarah and I live in the Clear Lake area. I am a stay at home mom for now to an (almost) two year old son. I have become addicted to mfp!! I have a long ways to go on my weight loss journey but I am confident I can do this!!
Glad to be in a group of Houstonians, we rock!!0 -
Hey everybody, welcome to the group :flowerforyou:
I've been at the hospital with my friend since Sunday (emergency C-section for her, cute new godson for me!), so I haven't been on MFP much in the past few days. I miss it! I also miss my bed, my dog, and sleep... but that's neither here nor there LOL.
I can't wait to read your intros more thoroughly and talk more with you all. Let's get fit, neighbors!0 -
Hello! My name is Kelly, live in NW Houston and manage a corporate fitness center... happy to have found a good way to manage my weight! :happy:0

Hello Houston!
My name is Kristi, I am wrapping up my 20s, mother of two and live in far east Houston metro (east of Baytown in Mont Belvieu) I joined MFP a few years ago and did GREAT, got on the scale a few weeks ago and...OOPS!!! I am looking to loose between 10-15lbs. I am hoping to work on getting lean and fit for my 30th bday in July ;-) I'm a food addict but i'm also addicted to constantly moving and going (with two kids how could I not be!?) but now that my metabolism is slowing down the food addiction is taking its toll =-O0 -
Hi I'm Ashley , I was invited to this group. It's awesome to have some local support. I have been on MFP for about 4 months now and lost 33 pounds from my SW 286. I am looking to lose it and keep it off.0

.....by the way, Im a twin (she's not on MFP) and our birthday is coming up! Anybody near the galleria area, we are having our bday party at the concert pub galleria on saturday night. A live band (the spicoli's) will be playing all 80s. Feel free to stop on by-the password to get in free is "twins rule"! I would love to meet some local MFP's!0 -
6 & Westheimer!
I remember when Houston was "the land of Astroworld" and I was from Beaumont! I've lived in several places, Pennsylvania being the last before moving to Houston in 2003...I love Houston!!
Great to meet some locals!0 -
Hi Everyone!!
My name is Jane, I'm a UH student, legal assistant, and born & raised Houstonian! I work in downtown, and I live not too far (290&610 area). I started my MFP account about a year ago, but I have a bad habit of not keeping up with it (unfortunately). Trying to find ways to stay motivated! It's nice to see other Houstonians on this site; it makes the whole healthy lifestyle and weight loss idea more "real" (if that makes any sense).0 -
Hey everyone! My name is juan....i live in northwest houston and love to workout. feel free to add or ask more.0

Hi I'm Christopher! Thanks for the invitation! I'm in the Humble/Atascocita area and I've been on my quest to relive my high school weight for a month, so far so good. I'm an ex computer gamer (World of Warcraft) and gained most of my weight over 10 years of gaming. After a trip to the doctors and finding out that I'm pre-diabetic, with hyper-tension, high cholesterol, oh and sleep apnea. I figured I might just want to do something about that. So yeah I’m here at the advice of my dietician. I’m picking up my “Fitbit†today from Best Buy and I can’t wait to try it out!0

Hey everyone! My name is Jason and I too am addicted to MFP! I've had the app on my android for about a year but didn't really get serious until the first of January 2012. In fact, I started eating REALLY bad on purpose around Thanksgiving and Christmas because I knew I was going to hit it hard this year. I ended up weighing 197lbs by the time Jan. 1st rolled around! Not good for only being 5'2" )
But by my last weigh in last Wednesday I was down to 167!!!! I think I would like to weigh 150, maybe less. I owe it ALL to MFP because it has taught me about portion control, balanced diet and excersise!!!!!! The process has been great and I push myself a little more each day!
Glad to read everyone's posts! Keep up the GREAT work and God bless!!!!

Hey ya'll! My name is Candice and I'm a native Houstonian. Currently in the Spring area. I'm a stay at home/work at home mom with a 3 year-old and a 18 month-old. I started MFP in January and tomorrow will be 100 days logged. I'm addicted to MFP and owe my 20lbs weight loss to this site for sure. I love the support and encouragement that I get from my rather small friend list. There's always room for more support so please feel free to add me if you'd like. I would love to have the support of people close to home. Thanks for the invite and good luck ya'll!0

Hello! I'm Shannon. I live in the Aldine area and I have become obsessed, in a good way, with MFP! It has saved my life!!! I started out at 290 and as of today, I'm down to 260!!! It makes losing weight like a game, I love it!! I hope to reach 180lbs by January, 2013... Would love to have some new friends on this journey!0

Hey, new friends and neighbros! Welcome to the Houston group This group was the idea of member UUZennie and it has really taken off in the past few weeks. I learn something new everyday on MFP, and it's great to be able to connect with others in the Houston area through the site. Feel free to begin new topics on our Discussion Board and add to those already existing posts. Good luck on your health and fitness goals!0

Hi Houstonians! I've had the iPhone app for awhile now, but have never been to the MFP site until today and saw this group section. Pretty cool! I started around mid-February at 240lbs and I am not presently down to 215lbs, a 25lb. loss so far. I have another 15lbs. to my target weight goal off 200lbs, but I think I might take it a bit further since I am seeing such positive results. I think I found the secret to weight loss... eating healthy and exercise...lol!0

Hello Houston (especially the west side)
I actually live in Richmond, TX but if I walk across the street I'm in Houston, y'all know how that goes.
Anyway, even though I created this account years ago, this is my first time actually using it.
I'm here to try something different, I lost 70 lbs a few yrs back but recently I'm back on the rise.
I want to win at loosing!0 -
Hello, my name is Liz and I am new to this site and new to Houston. I just moved here from Massachusetta and I am getting used to everything.0
-
Hi all, I downloaded MFP for my iPhone a while back but started using it regularly when a co-worker mentioned it earlier this year. So far I'm having good success. I'm an accountant so I sit for long periods of time at my client's offices. I live near the Galleria and regularly hit up the 24 Hour Fitness gyms in the area. Love Body Pump and Zumba. Feel free to add me. I try to be a good friend and motivator.0
