This is definitely going to be hard! Out of curiosity what exercise do you usually do? I'm a cardio kind of gal but it really doesn't burn enough so I've been looking for suggestions to mix it up!

My HRM said I burned 1300 calories doing a spinning class today, but I have trouble believing that, so Im just claiming 504 for spinning, like yesterday.

Hi CK, which one did you get? I'll probably wait a few more weeks before I get one but I see lots of people on MFP talking about the Polar FT7 and FT40. If we ever get a summer I'd love to get in some sea-swimming but without a HRM I'd have no idea how to track cals burned and thought a HRM could help.

FYI : I thnk I'll have to watch this challenge from the sidelines... I'll be away for 2 or possibly 3 weeks in July which will play havoc with my exercise schedule.

I'll be in the stands cheering... "G'wan ya good ting! Now yer sucking diesel!"

At this rate I will have to train twice a day next week. The only reason it's so low is I decided to Squat today which completely knackered both me and my plans to do more.

I got a Timex HRM from Wiggle.co.uk but it doesnt track calories underwater for swimming as it cannot get an accurate HR reading. I'm happy with mine, it cost €105 with free shipping to Ireland.

    Ha! Got me!

Just want to add - for the last 3 months I've been just doing what I was told in the Gym. As I mentioned before, I'm doing instructor-led sessions (he takes up to 6 at a time).
I think I'm finally beginning to see the benefits. In some of the exercises I'm able to up the weights and I notice he's moving me onto harder versions of existing exercises.
It all means I'm building muscle - which in turn burns fat faster. Also getting comments like "Hey Dad, you've got like a real muscle there now" (note: not an ACTUAL muscle - just LIKE a real muscle... anyway...)

My point - Del, I saw your comment about MFP giving back more cals for spinning versus Lifting. I think in the long term - keep lifting.

Ok. Change in plans. Holidays got moved to August (actually 28/July) so I'm in for the July challenge.
The good news is I can go back in MFP and see cals burned for the first 5 days in July.

    Target 15000
    Burned 1st to 5th July 2378
    Burned today 775
    Remaining 11847

Agree: Any individual day might be OK, but its going to be tough to average 540 a day. My recovery days are going to start disappearing!

the cals burned for all cardio is higher than weights but you will always get more out of weights in the long term
