My Hobbit name is Jaessa and I'm 55 years old from Minnesota. I started this challenge back in 2008 and still have not made it to Mordor. I'm having some foot issues, but will continue on my journey when it gets better. I love this challenge!!! I think any form of exercise counts (i.e. biking, rowing, walking, running, swimming, etc.). The Fellowship used ponies and boats along the way. I am getting close to Mordor. I have already finished about 1600 miles. Then there is the long road home!!! I'm hoping to be there before "The Hobbit" comes out in December. Good luck everyone!!!0

Not sure if this is in any of the discussion threads, but has either journey and the geography been compared to any configuration of earth geography such that the most accurate earth similuation of Frodo's or Bilbo's travels could be undertaken?
...since I am not sure how far into the trip the initial Hobbit movie will go, I am setting what I hope will be an easy goal of Bag End to Rivendell by December.
Happy travels to all,

Google Hobbit Name Generator and it will take you to sites that will translate your name into a Hobbit or Elvish name. It's really geeky, but FUN!0

I am liking the Hobbit names. Have you tried your Elvish name. Mine is Anaranë Eluchl0

I like the Elvish names. They are a lot prettier anyway. My Elvish name is Luthien Surion. Unfortunately I am shaped much more like a Hobbit than an Elf. Hopefully I can change a little of that.0

If you google Eowyn Challenge, it should take you to the web site. I just print off the different legs of the walk and mark them off on the pages as I complete them.0

My hobbit name is Lobelia Proudfoot (which I'm not going to use because it makes me think of Lobelia Sackville-Baggins).
My elvish name is Galadriel Culnamo.0 -

I'm Bethea, and I'm 24. My first goal is to get to Rivendell (like most others!). I started today and I've almost entered Tookland! I will probably follow Pippin's path, because he is my absolute favorite hobbit!
This is the most brilliant thing I've ever heard, and it makes me giddy inside to exercise!0 -
Good morning. I'm Sheelagh. Currently residing in Edmonton, AB, Canada.
I've been tracking my walking for the past few weeks and just found out about this group. Seems an awesome way to keep me motivated AND my get my geek on.
My first goal is to walk from Hobbiton to Rivendell (468 miles) and I've already managed 129.3 of those miles since Feb 6th.0 -

Hi All! I'm SaharaZara, 38 and I am planning on setting out from Bag End to Rivendell tomorrow. I just finished reading the books this past spring, and am so excited about this challenge. I will be biking the whole way. This looks like a great challenge to keep me on my bike and moving. Looking forward to it!0

Hail and well met all fellow travellers! I'm Katie, sometimes called Key, and I've been on the road to Imladris since the last board. I'm a little over 95 miles in, but wasn't able to walk due to some health problems.
Then I discovered a hobbit-ish pasttime that I could handle, and my FitBit will help me track my steps... I'm going to finish the leg to Rivendell by dancing! And we'll see how it goes from there.

Welcome! Dancing your way is a great idea! How are you going to track it? Are you doing a specific kind of dance? (Sorry for the questions - I'm a former professional dancer, and I cannot believe it never occurred to me to dance to Rivendell, LOL.)0
