I don't think the fat acceptance movement (if that's actually what it's called) is necessarily saying they don't have health risks per se, or that they are giving up on getting healthier. I thought it was more about shedding light on exactly what constitutes body shaming. OK, so I am overweight, and I avoid swimming at the…

I try not to vilify any food groups personally. And, it's far better to eat a small apple or nectarine than to eat a 100 calorie pack of oreos or ritz crackers. When I am craving chocolate cake or pie or chips, I find a small, crunchy fresh fruit helps me stay focused.

The OP came here for help. To see if we could help her figure out why she is feeling hungry. I do not know of a single instance where insults have ever helped anyone lose weight, although I know hundreds of instances where insults have spiraled people into retreating and stop trying. I would hope you've received more…

Well, /applause to those who already said it! I agree, your weekly goals may be too restrictive, you may be going through a hormonal surge, you may just need a day of indulgence. Were you craving something in particular, so you ate your daily usual food trying to avoid it? So many good responses already. When I was growing…

I generally order one Ala care item, a chili relleno or one taco or one enchilada, then ask for a side salad. I have been pleasantly surprised by some of the salads I've gotten at different Mexican restaurants. Oh, and have one beer or one Margarita if it's a rare occurrence.

Strong abs help strengthen your back, they're not a waste of time. As a matter of fact, nothing you do to strengthen your body, or productively spend your free time is a waste of time. It doesn't even matter if the gym guy is technically correct in what they said. Do what you like, what you will continue to do and have fun…

Approximately 2 days before I start, I weigh ~5 lbs heavier, but it goes back to normal as soon as I start.

I agree with pondee629. The only difference was I could exercise harder and longer in my youth. But for the effort, CICO works. I also agree to not weigh so often.
-
CICO is most of it honestly. But, to be more detailed, measuring out my food, getting "back to" having meals, instead of grabbing a muffin, or a bag of chips. Reading about nutrition, I attended a six week class offered at Kaiser with a registered dietician that helped. Journaling. Writing down every single thing that went…

I have mine closed. I track EVERYTHING I eat. Some days, that is a source of great embarrassment for me. I had been on an amazing 45 day streak, until the last two days. I hope to get back on track today. I figure the day I don't mind all of you seeing my darkest days, will be a major break through for me.

Just a guess on my part, but I don't see potassium as a goal to meet. Potassium chloride is used as a salt substitute in many products to lower their sodium content. I view the tracking of potassium in that regard. In how it contributes overall to my salt intake. Similar, to ignoring fruits as part of my sugar totals, I…

Remember the fitbit BMR is constantly running. To make it math simple, say your BMR is 2400 calories per day, or 100 calories per hour. Your treadmill estimates 200 for one hour of walking, your fitbit shows 300 for the same period. It isn't that either is "off", it is simply interpreted differently. The sync with MFP,…

Never heard of it until you posted. Just another bunch of hooey.

It really sucks to feel so alone and my heart goes out to you. If you're like me, now that you have put on weight, getting out in the world seems daunting. I felt ashamed to go out, the shocked look on people's faces when they see how much I had gained, trying on outfit after outfit, but nothing made me feel presentable.…

When i want something sweet i love those little dole fruit red grapefruit no sugar added cups, 60ish calories. When I'm craving salty crunchy, i indulge with 14 grams plain popchips with 40 grams Rosarita refried beans with jalapeños as dip, a little under 100!

How many times have you heard, "My best friend is skinny and she eats McDonald's every day". So, people get in their head, I will lose this weight in a month. Then I can eat McDonald's every day. The skinny people I know, really don't eat crap every day. I can recall when friends stopped by when I use to bake cookies. I'd…

I second finding a new doctor. Your doctor should be a source of support and concerned with you as a person, as well as your health concerns. This is a wonderful place to start. There are so many wonderful people and ideas, tips and suggestions. Track your food for a week or two just normal. That will give you a base line…

I work 10 hour days, Tuesday through Friday, plus every other Saturday. I prepare food on Sundays to grab from the fridge at work. I like to make a huge pot of chili, or a large pasta salad, something fast to go to when you don't feel like cooking. If you have zero time to food prep, you can invest in prepackaged foods for…

I replaced my kitchen faucet all by myself.....and it works and doesn't leak.

Fitbit calories burned include your BMR plus activity, the amount of calories you burn just by being alive, plus added expenditures. An easy analogy is to think of yourself as a car and food as gasoline. Your car burns gas even while you're stopped at a light/sign, or in traffic. You burn calories even while you sleep.…

I'm not saying this will work for you, but I would like to share my experience with the wonderful help I received from this community. I lost 53 pounds here in 2012 (5'7", female, 258 down to 205). I did fairly well maintaining that weight, even though I had another 55 to lose. Last summer, I started gaining again. I had…

Very good advice here on measuring. Also, you have to count everything you ingest. Salad dressing (yes weighed!), energy drinks, Starbuck's, juice, sauce, gravy, that one tiny tootsie roll. Good luck dear.

I swapped Skippy for Laura Scudder's old fashioned peanut butter, 6 or 7 fewer grams of sugar per serving, but give it up never.

I tend to respect others opinions, and everyone is entitled to theirs. I just think that a large number of people, myself included, have a difficult time adhering to a radical, sudden change, feel bad, revert, hence the term yo-yo dieting. Making changes you can live with, and sustaining them long term, works. Just not…

Also, pay attention to your active minutes. You can walk 10k steps without any active minutes (sustained walking). Say you walk 2 miles, roughly 4k steps, in 30 minutes, burning 150 calories. Another day, you walk 6k steps in total, but only for 2 to 3 minutes at a time, crediting only 4. Personally, I don't add in any of…

Truth be told, we often wear our pants long after we should have sized up, and so they tend to stretch out. Are you trying on an old pair of these same size pants? Chances are, you just weren't wearing the right size before you lost!

I think being unhappy with your job is huge and hard to overcome. But, you're looking, you're applying, you're doing everything you can! (If you're luck is like mine, when one finally bites, four will, but it seems like it's taking forever ) Sadly, we expect so much from ourselves. So, you ate two candy bars. Get back on…

Don't beat yourself up babygirl. Never be disgusted with yourself!

I think that's best up to you. I personally use mine 300ish breakfast, 300ish lunch, 100-150 for a snack, with the rest for dinner so I am less tempted to eat late night junk! What works for me, may not for you, so experiment if you really have no idea. I only log drinks that have something in them, even if it's just…
