  • There is an app called carb manager and you can set it to count net carbs and it will automatically do it for you
  • Dont let people discourage you! It is hard. You still have to track. Carb Manager is a great alternative to here that focuses on carbs protein and fats and you can adjust it to if your truely trying to be in ketosis or just to very low carb. I did that for a few months to. It was hard, then you adjust, even the water…
  • I am just getting back into the swing of things again on here but def think that logging of any kind and being concious of what your eating and roughly how many calories your taking in is better than not logging at all. There are times that we make a large slow cooker of stew and I dont have the time or patience to weigh…
  • Right! Thank you!!! Theres so many dif diets out there that have you counting specific stuff that once ur in that mind set its hard to believe if you dont focus on that macro you will still loose. I have no problem with good carbs like the few thats in broccoli or even carrots and fruit - because I dont eat a ton of fruit.…
  • I dont know if I could ever get rid of my sweet tooth completely., I just need to figure out which is the best option specially for coffee if its sugar or sweeteners. I know theres "sugar free" chocolate and stuff which for keto is fine, and diabetics..but just for the average person wanting weightloss, is the sugar…
  • True! Not that I eat them often at all or add salt to my food ever, but my blood pressure is elevated still and hes now starting me on pills so I want to avoid that sort of processed food and hopefully not have to be on pills for long!
  • My problem with potatoes is that we do not eat them often, and use real potatoes when making stew and stuff like that but over thanksgiving (just had it here in canada) we use the herb and garlic boxed potatoes and they are TERRIBLE for you despite how easy and delicious they are lol and we hate alot of them over the late…
  • Im glad it helped you and your pain is gone! I have no intentions of doing strict keto if i ever did it again. I would stick to around 100g carbs per day or under. I just want to lose weight and hope it helps my constant aching knees and that it will allow me to do more intensive work outs without being in pain.
  • Height: 5'4, Starting weight 196.6, Current weight: 189.6, Goal weight: 160. Im sure if I got strict with myself and really focused on non packaged quick fix foods and whole healthy foods I could prob stay in that cal goal easy.. and once my stomach shrinks and i dont feel hungry to eat as big of portions.
  • I think its at 1.5 per week. And I have about 30lbs that I want to lose. But could def lose more than that. But would be happy there. And set at seditary because i work an office job and besides the little walk to and from buses and odd 40min lunch class I do I dont get alot of exercise otherwise.
  • Thats true! I wish you could change your calorie amount to instead of using the typical 1200 they give you. It doesnt seem like enough to me without causing a big drop or change in food at once instead of easing into it and not being hungry at the end of the night. Or going over and feeling like you failed for the day.
  • Thank you all! I guess i need to get out of the habit of focusing on carbs first. About a year ago my blood pressure was quite high. I did a dirty keto version and lost 15lbs and cut out all the junk food and my next dr. visit my blood pressure was good. The time after that, after falling off track again, it was back up.…
  • Very true! Thank you all!
  • Ive never heard of that but will look into it!
  • I guess im going to have to ban it from the house and go through withdrawals and kick the biggest problem first. Then work on actually counting cals and portion sizes and cutting stuff out from there. I find ive been off the rails for so long that jumping right back in I last half a day and get frustrated trying to count…
  • That makes sense. And I know fruit and vegetables have some carbs to, I dont cut them all out. The only vegetable I really cut out besides the odd time is potatoes. Im talking bad carbs. Im a junk food lovveeerrrr and have no self control around candy or chocolate. I start craving come mid afternoon, unless work is busy…
  • I like to hear people say they dont cut out all yummy food and have lost still. I guess i just need to keep forcing myself to log stuff in, even if its the main bulk of items and then once i get on a roll or see how over im going each day get strick with weighing and measuring every little thing/sauces.
  • I never have a problem getting fats in. I tent to go over each day. But yes, protein is a big problem area. I also am inconsistent with flipping between here and using carb manager. I feel good when I dont eat alot of carbs and i guess in my head because that was the only way I lost weight before its the onnnlyyyy thing…
  • I had great success when i was head strong and did keto for a month straight with no cheats. Now im so addicted to sugar again i cant go a day without sneaking out of the office mid afternoon and getting a chocolate bar. :(
  • taco salad! With hamburger, lettuce, cheese, i added some cucumber for crunch. Then used sour cream as a "dressing"
  • There is also a great app called carb manager that helped when i was doing keto. it tells you the net carbs - if thats what your tracking, where mfp doesnt and you have to do the math yourself. It also tracks protien and fats in a nice circle graph to show you how much you have left for the day. I found that more helpful…
  • There are definitely options out there! Im not sure about wines, and im not in ketosis anymore and have just been trying to stay low carb since, but depending where you live..we have a company called Blue Lobster that makes lemon/lime vodka soda's. So good. Or Sleeman Clear has beer thats only 2.5g of carbs and 90 cals :)
  • Thanks everyone! I still want to lose another 20-30lbs. Im sure i can afford to lose more at being 5'4 but every couple pounds helps me feel better! I dont think I chose the 2lb per week goal, maybe 1.5, ill have to double check! That idea about grocerie shopping online doesnt sound bad!! Lord knows after just moving and…
  • Thank you all! I may try the mineral supplement thing and see if it helps! I had magnesium for leg cramps when I was preg so I may still have some. So I know everyone says eating fewer calories. Should I just go with what MFP gives me? Which is 1200..? I know I usually eat more than that in a day but I honestly dont know…
  • Worth a try! I find since I started paying attention and doing low carb whether its bad or not that's all I focus on. Maybe i need to track calories and not worry about the carbs in stuff.
  • maybe try some sugar free chocolate? I know Russel Stovers has dif chocolate that is zero sugar and zero carbs, but has other stuff strict keto'ers prob would say avoid like crazy. But if your only eating small amounts, and your body handles it fine, it might be enough change to get you into ketosis.
  • I started with keto, and always felt hungry and couldnt stick to just 20 carbs. I switched to low carb, starting off saying i was doing between 50&100net carbs. And was usually always on the higher end. Now i try and stay closer to 50. On the weekends i might have a snack/up my carbs by a bit, but I find im not depriving…
  • I know were talking calories here..but in my opinion from someone who tried keto, the only way it seems like you can eat more, is if your not actually tracking calories, just mainly your carbs.. and consuming all proteins and vegetables, as keto friendly vegetables have next to nothing in them, and prot has little to no…
