In light of the facts about world hunger, that 1 in 9 people are severely undernourished, and many other staggering facts about poverty and hunger, I find this "fat acceptance" to be yet another way for first world people to feel OK about hogging the lion's share of the world's resources. There are children who eat maybe…

I'm vegan, my BP is usually around 115/65 and I'm 38 yrs old. My husband is even older and his BP is that low also. We also exercise, this will help lower BP as well. Any other vegan peeps feel free to add me!

I'm vegan since 2012. I do karate and also a little weight lifting, running, and other stuff here and there. Feel free to FR me.

When wearing a backpack or purse and needing to bend over, thinking I've positioned the bag squarely on my back, only to have it slowly slide down and off my shoulder. HATE THIS

I also do two full body weight lifting sessions per week, one on Saturday and one on Tuesday. I usually go all out on Saturday, doing all the sets and all the exercises, and maybe more. On Tuesday I just do whatever I feel like, usually a copy of Saturday minus some extraneous exercises. Sometimes if I'm tired my Tuesday…

Thanks I have already been doing weightlifting, I also train karate and run. I know a lot already about dieting and exercise, I was just curious about what other people's opinions were. I am trying to lose to 160 lb (ish) and then at that point I'm going to work on building more muscle. I basically want to have functional…

Thanks everyone. I don't know why, but I wasn't notified about these replies. I asked the questions because I do a lot of weight lifting but don't feel much soreness. Example: 100 lb lat pulldown 3by10 twice a week, plus some 20 other exercises which I do twice a week.

I do low carb and vegan very successfully. Granted, your food choices become very limited. I usually can keep my net carbs under 40 g. Things I eat for protein: hemp seeds, hemp tofu, tofu, hemp protein powder, pea protein powder, peanut butter, almonds, pumpkin seeds, walnuts, tofurkey ham slices, beyond meat products.…

Muscle is denser than fat, so the same volume of fat will weigh less than the same volume of muscle. That's what everyone means when they say "muscles weighs more than fat". And I agree, no one ever gained so much weight in muscle by being in calorie deficit unless they're really watching their protein intake. So when…

I'm vegan and I've been doing the keto thing successfully. I mention this because vegan sources of protein will take care of your fiber problems. Some good ones are: hemp seeds, hemp powder, hemp tofu (hemp stuff has practically NO net carbs and high protein), tofu of course, beyond meat products, pea protein powder. Chia…

there's tons of stuff on the internet about being vegan and lifting weights, check out the Vegan Bodybuilding and Nutrition on facebook and veganbodybuilding.com !!

First of all, a high protein diet and a vegan diet aren't mutually exclusive. Check out http://www.veganbodybuilding.com/ there are many sources of vegan protein, people get massive gains being vegan. Ever hear of Patrick Baboumian?? Besides this, if you are indeed 105 lbs with very little muscle mass, then I think I stand…

This always happens to me when I eat more. If you think about it, food has weight also. How much does dinner weigh? Almost a pound? It could be simply the weight of the extra food that you eat on your treat day. Also, during the week when you're exercising, a person can lose up to 4 lbs in sweat! Maybe during the week…

The bottom line is, if you have a problem with overeating and being overweight, you are going to have to do some hard work to change that. You have to log your calories, which is tedious, and this will take years even. You will have to exert willpower over yourself and it won't be fun. You'll have to do this many times,…

I recently read this book which advocates Intuitive Eating, here is a summary and comments on it: http://fitisafeministissue.com/2013/01/22/overcoming-overeating-not-for-everyone/ The idea is to first let yourself eat whatever you want, to "legalize" all foods. The assumption is that then you don't find those foods…

I remember when I smoked everyone would tell me to quit and how bad it was for me, and while it was true that I had to come to the decision on my own, in no small part did all that peer pressure also influence me to quit. Indeed, I felt supported by all the non-smoking people of the world when I finally decided to stop.…

I practice karate and have studied other forms of martial arts as well. They can be excellent ways to get an intense cardio workout, but it depends on the class and instructor. I'd say any kicking/punching art would be the most cardio intense, next judo or jiu jitsu. But, again, it depends. Some classes will have you…

I think they say that when one is weightlifting each muscle to exhaustion, or near to it. If you want to work out everyday I would guess just make sure you're eating enough so you don't lose muscle. If it doesn't work for you, you'll know it because you WILL burn out after a few weeks of it!

5 or 6 days a week: Mon, Wed, Fri is karate training, then Tue/Sat is weightlifting (full body) with 2 mile run, and lastly Thursday is 4 mile run.

It's difficult. If you eat too little, your body will hang onto those pounds (studies show this, more stress hormone is produced when the calories are too low). So, you have to get to the sweet spot of just enough calories to be below maintenance. On top of this, the body will become accustomed to your routine, and to…

I'm also committed to weight loss this time. It seems like I've been dieting since I was 18, sometimes successfully, most times I just gain it all back. I'm not extremely overweight, but I have knee issues, and I feel like losing weight will help that and also allow me to reach a higher level in my sport. I have some…

I find that if I'm eating really healthy, exercising regularly, and getting enough plant based protein, I rarely feel like binging. But if something happens, like holidays, or a recent accomplishment, or a very stressful situation, I will binge and screw it all up. Too much drinking alcohol is pretty bad, also high carb…

I'm lucky if I wash my hair once a week, but I DO shower almost every day. When I shower, I just wet the underside near the nape of my neck. I feel like that's where most of the sweat accumulates anyways. (does the scalp even sweat much?) My head doesn't stink really, it sorta smells like scalp, or natural or whatever. I…

Also, this "fat is beautiful" attitude doesn't help. Beauty is subjective and whatever, etc. But being fat is unhealthy and we shouldn't pretend it's OK. Telling someone they are unhealthy and that they should try to be healthy isn't the same as saying they are horrible ugly people, no more than telling someone they should…

I find it fascinating. I also liked that documentary about the man who had a face transplant. But it also makes me shake my head. Only in America can a person be killing themselves with too much food when there are people in other countries whose children are starving. I hate that aspect of this western culture, the "I can…

I'm 5'10" and have always been size 14, even in high school (late 90's) when I weighted 160. The sizes for clothing have steadily undergone "size inflation". Last year I weighed 200 and still was size 14. Now I weigh 185 and am size 12 (my waist is 35 inches). Last time I weighed size 12 I had to be 155 lbs! In addition,…

I sort of do this, except I will wash the crotch part of the pants in the sink. I wear used sports bras numerous times. I put them by the heater overnight to dry. :#
