@Mr_Knight Oh, that's tough advice for someone trying to get into the "Nike commercial" game, but if it applies to lifting, which I can totally relate to, it makes sense that it would apply to running as well. @katarina005 funny you mention the row machine. I was put on it early early with a PT at the gym -- and then did…

So there was a big pile of jeans in the laundry this morning and I couldn't pick out mine right away because a) they're new and b) they're a lot closer in size to the other adult/young adult jeans in the house. How inconvenient! (Nice problem)

If you know the bartender (whom I presume is also a virgin  ) you can run the recipe through Www.caloriexount.com/cc/recipeanalysis.php

@rdhdscorp I appreciate your very high expectations, but I can understand why you are burned out. Perhaps if you think more marathon and less sprint, you will be able to enjoy the process a little more and feel less discouraged. Hang in there!

Awesome!!

When I look at my profile pic, I'm immensely pleased that the shirt fits, and I'm immensely pleased that my jeans are a size smaller. But it will be nice to take some more bites out of that pear shape.

Just today on FB I read that a glass of red wine = an hour at the gym.

I did not need to track my first year, as I joined a gym and that made a big difference. This year my goal is to run recipes through a calorie counter and learn portions. I had lost about 25 lbs before joining MFP, so that makes about 45 lbs overall in 13 mos.

^ the whole comment should be engraved, but the extrinsic/intrinsic dynamic hinges on this.

@IowaPrincess Even if we asked ourselves even a couple of these questions, that would be enough to counter a significant amount of mindless eating.

{{{hugs}}} I'm sorry. You sound really active for someone who doesn't really feel very good a lot of the time. That's amazing!

Will you realize that you’re making lifestyle changes that will help you get fit and remain fit for the rest of your life? Your priority should be incorporating healthy behavior in your daily activity, because the weight will just fall off after that! [Elsewhere she urges people to stop looking at the scale for a reward…

^ me too. Brown rice is healthy, but a little goes a long way. I'm like you in that I don't really miss "more rice"

Welcome! Google Diane Carbonelle and Erika Kendall. Diane has a nice list of 25 mistakes people make in weight loss, and Erika has a fantastic series on emotional eating and self care. Good luck!

An inchworm is a kind of exercise. It’s not necessarily something I do everyday; rather, it reminds me of this journey. When you do inchworms, you can’t be in a hurry, and it’s not really always pleasant, but if you keep on keepin’ on, you’ll get to where you want to be. I hope I am blessed with the perseverance to keep on…

Don't forget to highlight in bright cheerful colors the times you resisted temptation and didn't give in to the cravings! Also, the more junk you eat the more you crave it. So it does get easier the further you get away from it. The products you crave are actually manufactured to make you crave it. So @superwillpowered it…

@danielle7577 I'm more of a traditional stretching kind of gal, but I find stretching is essential after working out. In a way it is hard to prioritize because cardio and strength burn more calories. But I feel so much better when I do it that I know it helps me stay on track.

I second meatballs. They can be weighed on a kitchen scale for portion control. I took the filling for egg rolls and made meatballs out of them. My kids loved it, and less time consuming and less oily than egg rolls.

@aubrey_11_baker I think you would like this article. Ultimately you have to closer to goal to know for sure if it's right for you. http://www.refusetoregain.com/2014/06/just-another-ten-pounds-or-how-to-know-when-your-weight-loss-is-over.html . I sense from the success forum that goals do change. I actually think a…

I'm going to cop out and say my weight gain is from baby bearing, baby feeding, baby rearing. Since he's the reason for the babies, he'd never said anything about the weight gain, and I know it didn't make me less attractive to him. When last baby turned 2 1/2, I was ready. I joined a gym, temporarily, on a groupon offer.…
