Steamed broccoli, skirt steak sauteed with some garlic and onion, and maybe I'll throw some spicy something into some broth and make a sauce for the broccoli.

I'd add some heavy cream, or maybe some cream cheese, and whip it in so you get that velvetty feel without so many carbs.
-
You need some saturated fat, preferably mono-unsaturated, to repair your cell membranes. MCTS are an oddity, your body could in theory store them but it would very much rather just dump them, so they help increase ketones that way.

It's decent, but not creamy. A good enough replacement for milk itself though.

I've used Nutiva, some kind of organic stuff from cost less, various ones from walmart. Never had a problem with odd taste, but I really like the nutiva, though will probably switch to whatever costco carries once this is gone.

I always try to have mushrooms, broccoli, celery, cream cheese, butter, heavy whipping cream, fairlife milk, various cheeses(right now it's all about swiss), light and fit greek yogurt(it's not whole fat, but it is the lowest carb I've found even compared to plain, it only has 1 or 2 more carbs), nuts in general are a…

OMG that sounds like heaven! Which protein powder do you use? I need to use up my old muscle milk stuff, but after that I'm looking for a lower carb alternative.

I'm on the fence about getting these done along with VO2 max and some other testing. My cardiologist has a whole program for people with ongoing health issues(plus athletes, those who are just overweight etc) so it would be covered by insurance for me. But the program comes with a nutritionist enforced diet plan and weekly…

You are a damn genius! New way to cook bacon here I come!

I was obsessing over food and weighing it awhile ago. It drove my mom nuts. But for me (and us), it's becoming a new normal. We've found ways to incorporate the scale into simple things like making BPC and now it's less of an obsessive need and more of a routine. I think your approach and mine work equally well, we all…

Yummy. Sounds like I should get a few pounds of mushrooms. These soups will up my calories nicely.

I wish it had mentioned how they had determined cancer. It is hard to find in such remains and would have been cool to detail. The teeth thing though is nice too know. My dentist is so happy that I'm low carb for that reason, strong teeth with thick enamel that will stay that way.

I don't make nearly so much of a mound under my blankets when I'm sleeping. Mom brought me a cup of tea and thought I wasn't there.

Weigh after cooking and use a cooked and drained entry. Or log it per slice.
-
I would either create a new one, maybe as a personal food, if you're going to be eating it often. Otherwise I'd just estimate the amounts.

we're friends now, feel free to peruse and ask questions. I'm a decent enough cook, but my meals look bit weird sometimes because of my crazy work hours and school.

I wish I could figure out why my TDEE seems to be around 1600. Im 19, just over 5 feet, active as heck most days. Still a sh**ty TDEE.
-
I hope that's true! When I go to have kids I'll be putting my mate on a keto diet, it only takes one (preferably X) sperm to gain access to the egg and I'm set.

I have a 5 qt cast iron pot coated with ceramic for looks and man that thing is heavy. Definitely counts as lifting weights!
-
I think being incredibly overweight probably has more risk of cutting our lives short than cutting out/down carbs. There are civilizations that eat almost meat only, almost plant only, some combo. But they seem adapted to it somehow.
-
I bet this is true about the hormonal issues. It's also possible that birth control plays a role in TDEE that we don't realize. I'd consider 3x per week heavy lifting closer to average than 5x a week vigorous exercise.
-
I'd try to find an animal processor in your area and see if they'll sell you some good old fashioned pork fat.
-
That's awesome! And I would try to eat at more traditional restaurants, there will still be rice, but also lots of delicious unthickened soups.
-
Yes plain. And I don't know how my calories were, but that days intake was like a bag and a half of pork rinds and probably 12 ounces hwc...I was at fair showing goats, so had limited foodstuffs available. And I managed to eat(probably, my logging sucked at the time) beyond my TDEE(since I gained weight) for about 15 days.…
-
I think this might be a skewed result, as unless there is a way to get the actual data of estimated TDEEs for mfp users you're only going to hear about the women(or men) who do seem to have the really low TDEE levels. Becaause they're the ones asking for advice because they just can't lose at whatever level, and most will…

Actually I have consumed a whole cup of heavy cream in a sitting, and still munched through a whole bag of porkrinds after....
-
Oh to be able to eat that much and not gain weight. Some of us just flat out can't do that, it doesn't work for us. Which sucks. And it's all based off of averages anyway. So if you're unlucky enough to not be in the middle third of the bell curve than you're screwed. If you're shorter or taller than average, have more or…

Perhaps a south beach diet combined with a low fodmap diet would be good for her. You could remove any known intolerance and go from there. It's kind of a new approach from what I hear, but it's designed to manage nerve pain and flareups.
