Hahahaha, so true. Same thing happened to my brother. I always wear a vest under my shirt. And the day of my marathon I didn't take any chances I had vaseline on almost every part of my body lol

That's a really good time well done. Exactly, you should be proud. There's some just some horrible and stupid people out there. Don't listen to them :)

This is for anyone who judges a person on how long it takes them to run. Personally I think anyone who is going to judge someone on what time it takes them to run various distances is a complete joke figure, and utter moron. Nobody, absolutely NOBODY, has the right to criticise someone for turning up to a race in running…

I actually ended up running the 5k in 26 mins, I didn't initially set off to run my fastest time, but when my app told me I was running at an average pace of 7:30 min/mi and 8:00 min/mi I thought I'd try and keep it at that pace. I was so surprised that after so many days off (well it wasn't actually that many days off…

Was definitely guilty of over-training in November, viewed my runkeeper profile online, and I went from running a measly 24 miles in October to running 110 miles in November. As a consequence I suffered from a headache this past week, and noticed my times getting slower. Having taken a few days off I'm ready to get back to…

What is the fitness vs freshness chart ? Never heard of that, you got a link to one ?

Thanks a lot Vladimir, you're a good friend on here. And that part about rolling my pudgy, american eating self off the sofa and doing the 5k has definitely got me motivated because I know I can get a lot faster and run further. Definitely just gonna need to let myself recover properly and stop trying to force things to…

I'm not sure, I think it's just a confidence thing. I think it's because I know that when I was at my peak physically I was able to run that route in 23/24mins, and it would make me feel good if I could do that again. I've probably tried to do too much too soon. And I know myself I'm probably trying to force it to happen…

Yeah I have a runkeeper app which has a voice telling me every 5 mins what my average pace is it's pretty helpful

It says it's a flat marathon, it's called the Glasgow to Edinburgh double-marathon if you fancy researching it. Impressive C.V is that UltraSignup worth registering on yeah ? In my runs practically all of them include a couple of steep uphills, none of my runs are ever on only flat ground. I have only just started back…

I haven't really thought about a 50k, I like to through myself in at the deep end. Before running my first marathon, I had never competed in any race before then, not even a 10k, I just like a challenge. Plus, I like to think I have an iron-will. Great tips for the ultramarathon, I don't have any books or training plan,…

Sounds good man ! I always like starting things on a Monday too, there's just something about it. But I would encourage you to start doing something over the weekend, because it's too easy to keep putting things off instead of doing them now. Maybe even go for a jog, or a long walk and try not to over indulge too much.…

It's not impossible to do both at once. You don't need to be eating a surplus of calories to gain muscle mass. Given it's easier to gain muscle and strength when eating a surplus of calories, your body can still make lean gains without the need to consume more calories than you burn. I was able to do both, but it is hard…

Sounds like you've done all the right things, just got to reinforce that "heel toe" running technique in your head as you go. Land on the hell first and then roll on to the ball of your foot. Hope that helps. Oh and maybe wear running socks ? Just another minor suggestion
