  • I'm an RN and few doctors are going to make blanket statements. She would want your medical and family history before recommending any specific diet or calorie total. In general if we had a healthy 18 year old come in and she was active and an ideal weight, we wouldn't care if she was eating 1200 or 3800 calories.…
  • Depends. A lifestyle change is what's going to have you arrive at your goals. I don't see unhealthy food choices as a 'reward '. I see them as unhealthy food choices today and unhealthy tomorrow. When is it good to eat pizza with toppings...never. Especially if you are not yet at a healthy weight. Will it hurt you…
  • A healthy woman will not lose that much weight unless it is water. In our clinic we would go '...meh...weigh yourself again in a couple of days.' Or, if it was legitimate, 'we better take some blood tests and pee in this bottle.' A half pound to a pound and a half is healthy . Not 4.
  • I'm an RN...I never give patients a 'range' because it is abused. Better to go with a specific ideal weight. For 5'3 it is 125. (Certainly not 140).I'm an inch taller and 122. A 'Few pounds' overweight is 5 and not 15. Best to stay under 130 especially if child bearing goals. Way, way easier to return to a healthy weight…
