  • I had to get major surgery on my lower abdominal area and once the stitches were closed and everything was good to go, I found swimming to be a really good way to get back into working out. Low impact, as gentle or hard as you want it to be. I also started one of those couch to 5K things and it wasn't too bad, I stayed in…
  • I'm not good at doing this myself, but I recently read an article (can't remember where it was from...maybe Greatist...) that suggested either eating a small meal or exercising within an hour of waking up to boost metabolism. I don't do this myself as usually I have 101 things going on in the morning and either skip…
  • I should clarify, one cheeseburger itself is not a binge. We have to be realistic! Cut down on what you eat now, start slow, it will take time but will be easier to maintain in the long run.
  • Oh how my heart goes out to you, friend. I've struggled with my weight all my life, but especially through my 20's. I finally peaked at 23 at 338. I managed to lose down to 270, then back up to 315, then down, then up, blah blah. Now I'm 28 and at 285 and hoping to lose a lot more. Let me know if you need a buddy! As far…
  • It kind of depends on your body. I'm down about 50 pounds from my highest weight and I'm down a cup size at least, probably 2 if I were honest with myself :) But that's how my body works, I lose and gain weight fastest from my arms and chest, while my stomach, butt, and legs look the same that they did 50 lbs ago.
  • I'm not sure about Zoloft, but when I was on Lithium, it affected how my body retained water, so I would bloat/drop water weight in really weird, unpredictable ways. I'm not sure if it's different because Lithium is a salt (not the same as table salt obviously, but I only got a C in organic chem, so I'm kind of reaching…
  • I really like the ones Cassey Ho has come up with at www.blogilates.com They're focused on eating clean, which I need to be better about, so I use them as templates for what I eat.
  • This will show what a nerd I am, but I'm currently into Zombie 5K. It's a phone app like C25K, but with zombies. Each day you walk/jog/run, you get more of the story and the novelty totally has me hooked. I think once you get on a roll, it gets easier, so maybe start with something fun?
  • I feel you. I'm in law school and find I have similar issues. When things are good, I'm golden, but once exams roll around, I'm pulling into drive thru's. Here's a couple of things that have worked for me (now that I'm in my third year and have finally gotten in a groove): 1. Make the right choice the easy choice. Have…
