Recently back too. I have had to be on high dose steroids for a serious lung inflammation, so trying to battle the side effects of the steroids with low carb eating. Happy to be friends with anyone.

Thanks, I needed to hear that it is normal. I knew it couldn't be fat, but thought it would drop off as fast as it came on. And it was such a shock, thought for sure I would come home having lost a few pounds! I am feeling pretty good. Thanks for the support.

I eat under 20 g total most days. Carbs come from dairy and veggies. I don't worry if I go over if it is from fiber from veggies. I use total carbs just because it is easier with MFP.

Atkins shakes have not been loaded up with sugar alcohols like the other Atkins products, so I have them once in a while. They have 2 total carbs.

I do still get some hunger pangs while I fast, but I have learned that it is OK if I wait a while and if they don't subside, I can eat. My reaction used to be OMG, I have to eat right now. Although this stuff scares me, I think it is helpful to know it is coming and that when I reach my goal weight, it will not necessarily be easier and it might be even harder. I am committed to this WOE, and as @baconslave says, I have a say. I will find a way to keep the weight off.

I stay under 20 total carbs almost every day at 5/20/75/1400 Kcal, but as a post menopausal women with insulin restistance, I am not sure the carbs are low enough. Anyone have a good experience? I am thinking about getting one to track my responses to certain food choices. I don't want to spend all that money if they don't work. I'm fat adapted, so my only other choice would be a blood meter and the strips are soooo expensive. Any advice welcome.
