  • Hey skmackey323 - I'm up in the Twin Cities and feel your pain! It's gonna be nice today (mid-40's) before dipping back in the teens. I'm gonna get out and get a run in while I can. All these distractions (work, house, family, etc) I've learned over the years are excuses for me. Although important obviously, I've got to…
  • I had a few of the regular electronic scales and hated them because they would change and fluctuate just by stepping on and off and on again. Most of the store purchased units have cheap electronics and cheap load cells. You can get industrial quality units but will pay. I ended up buying a dr's scale on Craigslist. I love…
  • Daily. Obviously, it fluctuates, but if I see it creeping up, time to start hitting it hard again.
  • I've been dealing with PF on and off for the last 10 years. I had been running a few marathons back then and had gained a bit of weight between a few. I started up my miles from where I left off, which was the real problem. From everything I've read throughout the years, PF is caused by 1) adding to much mileage too…
  • iPod shuffle. Small, clips easily to shorts, etc, relatively inexpensive. I've had an arm band in the past and I just end up fiddling around with it too much and it's a distraction.
  • Agreed with all of the advice above. My biggest struggle is always the bathroom. I get up super, super early, drink a pot of coffee and I still seem to be racing out of the port-a potty as the gun is going off. It makes the race so much more exciting…It's like two races in one.
  • Looks like you're a fellow twin city runner as well. I can relate to your scenario. I ran a fair amount about 10 years and 50 lbs ago. I trained for a few marathons but just got injured and burned out. Now, I am trying to get back into running again but that is proving to not be as easy as I had hoped. With the long winter…
  • Welcome! We're all on here with the same goal in mind, drop a few lbs and stay healthy. I am sure we all have different stories, different goals, etc, but we all can use some support and motivation. Feel free to include me!
  • Hudson, WI - Just outside of Minneapolis / St. Paul, MN.
  • We live up in the Twin Cities, MN where we need to deal with the cold from Nov through April. Definitely do not let the cold stop you from getting out would be my first suggestion. We had 53 days below zero last year and it is amazing how warm the 20's can feel. If you live where the snow is, try to run in town where the…
  • I am speculating 235 lbs. I am 5' 10" and …back in the day… when I was running a lot, I was 175 lbs. I am hoping to get under 200 by the end of winter and who knows, maybe in the 180's by end of next summer.
  • Hop the border to St. Croix Falls side of Interstate Park. St. Croix Falls has a MTB trail "WOOLY TRAIL" that can be used for hiking as well. Also, River Falls has the White Tail MTB trail that lots of people use for hiking and they want you out there on snow shows in the winter to groom the trails for the winter bikes.…
  • Hey all - I've been using MFP for calorie counting, but never actually tried the interacting thing with others… Feel free to include me!
