I hate chilies. I don't mind spicy food, I just don't like the "pure heat no flavour" trend that seems to be taking over. No, I don't want chocolate cake with chili in. I also hate ice cream/yoghurts with mix ins. I prefer my ice cream to be a smooth mouthful.

What *I* want to know, is why doesn't MFP give me those ~30 extra calories I'll burn on my period??

I feel like this thread is pretty much dead anyway, but to add my 2p worth, from the other side: In the last year I've gained ~40lbs due to stress and depression and binge eating habits that I haven't got under control. I am so painfully aware of this, but I make jokes about it because nobody like the miserable fat girl. I…

I very rarely post in here, but I just wanted to say I could have written that first post myself, so you're definitely not alone! I'm on day 2 of trying to get back to my ideal weight of 150lbs - I ballooned up to 200lbs this last year and I just hate myself and what I look like right now. Which is a vicious circle…

+1 for don't add extra stress to yourself when trying to plan a wedding, the planning itself is stressful enough! I actually gained ~15lbs right before my wedding in stress-eating (obviously not everyone has this reaction to stress but it is possible). I would recommend setting yourself a realistic goal, something you can…

Plenty of places offer "light" menus. Loads of them highlight meals under 500cal, but a lot of chains now post the calorie information online so you can check anyway. I can't offer specific places because I don't know where in London you're going to be, but you won't struggle for lighter options! You must try some of our…

A metric butt-tonne of veg. I make a LOT of chili, and these are my recommendations that don't compromise flavour too much. My chili works out about 250 calories for a portion (not a small one either, I like volume). Mushrooms are perfect, if you blitz them in a food processor they end up a mince-like consistency with…

I find this thread amusing. In my house, food is sharing food unless it's *my* food, in which case I pig it all. My hubs is a straight up saint because he doesn't mind when I pinch his food, generally in a fit of PMSing. On the other hand, he is the one who opens a box of biscuits/crackers etc, eats one or two, then leaves…

+1 for Reynaud's, I'd never even considered weight loss as the culprit! Also the mourning being able to eat whatever I like, in the quantities I actually like. I have extended diet breaks (read: binge sessions) when it get too hard. The weirdest one I found, and sorry if this is TMI, but I actually have LESS body…

I shop on my own because I do 95% of the cooking and I like keeping track of our stocks. My husband is awful at shopping, in that he will only buy branded things for 2x/3x the price because he shops at eye-level only. He also buys ridiculous convenience foods for stupid amounts. He's a supermarket designer's dream shopper.…

Thanks for the info, that's good to know I guess! I'm quite sedentary so I didn't want falsely inflated calories if I hadn't earned them. I don't actually have it connected to MFP because I don't like the calorie adjustments it gives me, but I like to check my average daily calories on there to judge my maintenance…

+1 for whoever said that a decent man (or woman) will not notice your excess skin, they'll just be happy to get you naked. If you click with someone, you don't notice a lot of the things that are technically "unwanted", they suddenly become fine because you like the person they are attached to. I think you need to love…

Your schedule won't affect your weight loss much, if at all. Just eat when you feel like you want a meal. But you can eat so much more than 1200 calories, please do! It's much more enjoyable, much more sustainable, and you'll lose the weight in a much healthier way. I know you want to get to goal as soon as possible, but…

As above, really. With the fruit, I have a food scale at work so if I'm wanting to get really accurate results, I weigh the whole fruit, then weigh whatever is left when I'm done eating, and subtract that from the original weight. Depending on how you cooked the squash I would do the same thing, weigh the whole thing, eat…

Usually yes. It depends if you use the calorie information from the packet. I always use uncooked as it is more accurate imo, you can never tell how much water the rice or pasta will have absorbed. However I've seen some packets that only list the calories for cooked portions, so if you're using that info you'd have to…

My best friend is getting married and wanted me to find some old photos from us at college for decoration, so I dug through my hard drive. I'm completely unrecognisable in them so it'll be interesting to see if any of the other guests work out who I am.

I generally take a few days off working out, partly because I feel weak and wobbly, partly because I'm lazy and treat it like a little holiday, and partly because I have genuine fears about straining too much and shooting my mooncup across the gym. It's a real fear, honestly! I also generally eat pretty much what I feel…

I echo pretty much everything that has already been said, but my personal highlights are: 1. You will learn to like "healthy" (in terms of reasonable calories) food if you learn to make it how you like it. My absolute favourite meal is my own homemade chili with tonnes of vegetables in. It's less than 200 calories for a…

The day before I ovulate I'm hungry solidly all day. Nothing touches the sides, and I can eat without ever feeling "full", although I generally feel very uncomfortable. Then two days before my period starts I am the same. Like Francl27 described, it's a kind of feeling like I'm weak/about to pass out from hunger. Similarly…

I'm lazy/predictable so I make the whole recipe, divide it up in roughly equal portions and enter those as the serving. IE if I make a chili and it goes into 12 tubs about the same size I put 12 servings. Each serving will be slightly different but I figure it works out close enough in the end. If it's a recipe you're…

+1 for small changes. Don't try to do too much too fast, it's much better to make one easy change you can stick to, and then add things one at a time as you get better at it. My personal input, which a lot of people will disagree with but works for me, is actually to NOT weigh every single thing you eat. For someone…

South to South East here, and it's breakfast, lunch and dinner. Also chips and gravy is an abomination. My Yorkshire husband and in laws are so disappointed. Edit: I have also never heard the phrase chipper, it's chippy to me. 2nd edit: Calories sound about right, I'd go for 1200 to be safe. But that's not what this thread…

I'm going to offer only disappointment here, but I lost my weight back in 2013-2014 and my boobs went from what I guess was probably a EE/F (wore very poorly fitted bras back then) to a properly fitted 32D. if I raise my arms above my head they look like maybe a B cup, but the extra saggy skin makes extra cup sizes. They…

Not being able to munch my way through entire bags/packs of foods. Yes, I KNOW I can exercise moderation. But it's just not the same. I want to be able to eat 500g of M&Ms without it mattering. Sigh.

Just popped on here to say I would personally wait until after your trip - when I had mine inserted I had 19 solid days of the most horrific cramps. As in I was taking more than the maximum doses of ibuprofen, paracetamol AND aspirin and still waking up at 3am screaming in agony. Normal period cramps for me require maybe…

Thank God I'm not alone! If more than one person says it, it must be true...right? :D

I'm afraid I give myself the same bit of bad advice all the time, which is "eating the whole sleeve/pack/bar in one go is better than spreading it over a few days, because my stomach will somehow be overwhelmed by the sheer quantity of calories and forget to process some?" Also "and then I definitely won't overeat on…

I don't eat many weird foods, but I do some weird things with food. I will only ever microwave things for 90 seconds. Half the time, if it's still cold in the middle afterwards, I just suck it up and eat it anyway. I eat my things in a very specific order - worst to best. OH eats it best to worst and I can't understand why…

I *think* it's just your muscles/bits of body? I know the feeling, mine are like it too. I can't remember if they were like it when I was big, but I'm sure it's just normal. Probably kind of like cellulite? Sorry I can't help more!

Aid in weight loss = make you lose weight. I don't see how we're getting the wrong idea from what you're saying? There is no magic food. Garlic is great, but it won't make much of a difference. And you will stink!
