I struggle with this as well. I have a past with an eating disorder and when you say the "calories that you allow yourself," that sounds quite disordered. Just remember... MyFitnessPal didn't exist until about 5 years ago, and I am pretty sure 200 years ago people even counted calories.

Hi Ann! That is a healthy weight for your height and age, so weight loss is not priority (like you say). MFP is great place for leading a healthy lifestyle in general, however. Congrats on quitting smoking and moving towards a healthier you! As far as caloric intake, it depends on your activity level, etc. Here is a great…

...EM2WL and IIFYM are the way to go **** :D
-
Yes, the book is right. However, it seems to be just another fad diet! You will lose weight with that program, but it does not sound like a long term approach. EM2WL is a lot like IIFYM, which is definitely more sustainable and is a lifestyle rather than diet. Looking at food as numbers and as the enemy will only…

I shop at Whole Foods or my local Co-op and in the summer love shopping at my city's farmers market. Whenever I get groceries it is usually 85% produce (vegetables, fruit) and also I usually get Fage 0% greek yogurt, bulk grains, chicken breasts, shrimp, egg whites, stevia, and whatever else... Frozen fruit and vegetables…

I, too, struggle with this. Recently I have begun to increase my caloric intake and incorporate foods which I initially deemed as "unclean" (fear foods like cheeses. dairy and grains). My biggest problem is "saving" calories until the end of the day and limiting myself to vegetables, fruit and "clean foods." However, this…

amen.. metabolism, genetics, etc. There are so many factors.. You shouldn't even compare! My brother and I are the same way; he eats carbs galore (bread and other simple carbs) and a lot of fat and doesn't have an exercise routine. I have to watch watch what I eat and have an unhealthy relationship with both food and…
